I thought the default camera app adds lat/lon to exif since 1.5, if not there is always snap photo...
Default doesn't, so probably go with SnapPhoto.
You can also geotag photos taken with a DSLR/digicam by installing Google My Tracks on the phone. Before you begin taking photos, you need to do two things: 1) Make sure your camera and phone clocks are synchronized (within 1 minute would be good). I suggest syncing the camera to the phone, as the phone gets highly accurate time from the GSM network. 2) Start My Tracks and begin recording your GPS position. Now just keep your phone on you as you take pictures. When you are done taking photos stop the GPS recording, choose the Save to SD option and export the track as a GPX file. On your computer, install a geotagging application like GeoSetter or Gpicsync. In the app, specify the folders containing your photos and GPX files. Then all you need to do is click the sync or apply button and the app will automatically look for GPX files with similar timestamp ranges and apply the geotag data to your pictures.

If you want to support OpenStreetMap.org and similar types of activities geotagged photos of street signs and photos in general are useful for the OpenStreetView project...

Anyone know of any good geotagging photo apps?
Footprints widget is cool but I haven’t gotten Footprints geotag to be recognized by any PC programs and footprints doesn’t take real pictures only square snapshots. And turning on geotag in the camera doesn’t seem to do anything.
I got geo-taggin to work on the regular camera when it came to working with Picasa.

Alternatively you could run a gps logging app (like My Tracks), export the .gpx file to your PC, then tag the photos using a PC app like GeoSetter. The upshot of this method is you can also use the .gpx files to tag photos taken by your standalone camera. The downside is you'll have to remember to start it up every time you want to take geotagged shots, either on your phone or otherwise.
I am having some weird problems with my Gallery app.
1) Gallery seems to take a long time to open certain photos. While the photo is opening, the screen will usually timeout and turn off before it's even displayed. If I keep the screen awake, sometimes the picture will never load. I can flick to another photo and then back and I'll see the picture.
2) Copied a few photos to a folder on my Internal SD card. All of them are around 1-2M, 72dpi photos taken with various digital cameras. When I browse to that folder in the gallery, it will hang and take forever to generate the previews. Of the 10 photos in the gallery, 8 of them will not generate a preview and I can't open them. I have one photo that does open but the same exact photo that was touched up in Photoshop and has all the same properties as the original will not open.
Media scanner is working, I am able to add/remove photos to the internal storage and they open fine on my laptop, I can take new photos although they don't always show up in the gallery immediately.
My phone is the Vibrant and has been rooted, fixlag applied, and Captivate camera apk installed. This problem was happening before I changed the camera software.
Hi all,
What I did is, I took a zoe photo, and then I moved the zoe photo by the spliting function to /Picture folder.
Afterthat I use the ES explorer to move back those 20photos+1video files to 100MEDIA folder. And now, I cannot see the moving zoe in the photo album, and it just shows the 3 sec. video.
How can I restore it back? Thanks a lot for helping.
Gary.

It is a little different. So click on the video and when it's playing click it again it will pause. You can then use the slider at the bottom to go through the frames. Once you find a frame you like you can go to menu and save the frame.

Thanks. However what I mean is now the album recongize it as a video clip instead of a zoe photo. So it cannot show it in a magic zoe style.
Anyway to solve it? Thanks.
You can't. Looked at the gallery sqlite database using sqlite editor. You can see there that Zoe photos are stored in there. Once a Zoe photo is removed the data get's deleted and when you return it back it doesn't recognize the zoe photo anymore because the deleted data in the database is totally gone.
I assume that the camera app creates that data in there everytime you take a photo and mediaserver removes it when it can't detect it anymore.

Thanks a lot. That means I've no way to resolve it back.
However, I think out a issue, for example, if we change to another New HTC one, we cannot just copy all files from the old phone to the new one with the zoe album keep alive in the new one.
Yes! Or maybe you can by backing up the data of the gallery and restore it back on a new device(Would require root though).
Also I have made this suggestion already on HTC about a month ago about the issues with Zoe, Gallery & dropbox but they ignored it. Seems like they didn't get enough response about the issue.
Okay, so I'm having a weird issue on my Nexus 6
I have several camera apps on my phone –*Google Camera, Manual Camera, Camera FV-5, Open Camera, etc.
All of them save their pictures to the same directory (/DCIM/Camera)
For some reason, however, the only photos that my phone "recognizes" as actually being there are the ones taken by the Google Camera app.
What I mean by "recognizes":
If I go to Facebook to post an image, it will only show the ones taken by Google Camera
If I click on the image previews in Google Camera, it only shows the photos taken by Google Camera
If I browse to the Camera folder using Device Folders in Google Photos, it only shows the photos taken by Google Camera
Much weirder still, though:
If I click on the image previews in Manual Camera, it only shows the photos taken by Google Camera
If I click on the image previews in Open Camera, it only shows the photos taken by Google Camera
I.e., if I take a picture in Manual Camera, then click it's preview icon? It will show me the most recent picture taken in Google Camera.
I know these other images are saving correctly, in the correct directory, as if I browse to it in Solid Explorer, the files are all there and I can open them just fine.
But for some reason, any app that deals in media and not in file-structure won't recognize them as being there unless they were taken in Google Camera
I'm at a loss. I've tried deleting and recreating the directory; same issue. And it's not just one app that does this – any app that I take pictures in, the photos do not show up, unless it was taken with Google Camera.
Help?
Hi there,
When faced with the task of factory resetting my p20 pro, I remembered that I have taken many photos with the apature setting. I want to make sure that I don’t lose the depth information on the photo (the huawei gallery app recognizes that the photo was taken with apature and then let’s you adjust the strength of the bokeh effect and focus point, then saving your results as a new photo). I have some questions about this I was hoping you guys could help me with:
1. As far as I understand, the depth map is encoded into the meta data of the photo - no extra files. Is this correct?
2. Is the depth map a standard or a Huawei own version? Ie. could I reapply the bokeh effect with third party software (not the type that uses a 2d photo, the type that uses the actual depth map)?
3. I back up all my photos to google photos. Is it then enough to wipe the phone with the google photos backup as my only source? Would those photos contain the depth map and if so, how can I then edit the photo using the depth map like in huawei’s gallery app?
4. If not, what are my options to keep the apature photos with the depth map for use after the factory reset?
Many thanks for any help you guys can give!
Most simple thing you could do is to copy one image to PC, then delete the original one from the device and then copy&paste the picture from PC back to the phone gallery and try if aperture (bokeh) works.
