IPL and SPL that don't match

I started a new thread so that people wouldn't have to read through my trials but long story short I have a G3 wizard and I'm trying to flash it. Followed all of the steps in the guide by vippie. I used the button rom to start with but mine was one of the many that stopped at 98% and gave me error 302 so I ended up using the XDA mini rom as the alternative that was suggested.
Now I've flashed my phone three times with the same rom to try and get the IPL and SPL the same but to no avail. The IPL and SPL are 1.05 and 2.25 respectively. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey i flashed my tmobile mda to a chinese rom too and then it changed spl to a diff version than the ipl and then i tried to flashed it with love rom and still it doesnt change the ipl and spl to the same version that i had before, then i removed the battery then my phone does not charge or turn on anymore, i have a g4 by the way, i m not sure if i bricked it or not

I think you may have been trying to offer your empathy for my particular situation but that's what we in the business call thread jacking. Start your own thread please. Thanks for the comments though.
I was thinking today I may give flashing the button rom another try. Any suggestions people?

wow, basically the same problem just trying to let u no that other ppl r having the same problem and i thought my problem would've helped in some ways...thx for trying to be nice at the end but ur not. sry i forgot to metion that:" hey, SharpieMarker im having the same problem that ur having..."in my previous post

Well I apologize if I came of as a douche, I guess I didn't understand what you were saying exactly. I appreciate any support I can get with the issues I'm having so its good to know I'm not the only one. Thanks joco.

Surely you're not serious? oh Jesus, you are.
OK... SPL is separate from IPL, not only is it impossible to get them to be "the same version" it would also achieve nothing to actually do so either... so please, the procedure is very simple, you flash a patched SPL, you flash your crap on. Job Done... I thought there was already a patched SPL for G3... do I need to make one of those as well?!?

Well that seems logical however I was misinformed. SO I've flashed this Xda_mini rom, then what is the cause of the issues I was having getting a connection error when trying to CID unlock? Wizards have to be CID unlocked before flashing 2.X roms right?

What started as a simple, objective thread, has become quite confusing in a matter of a few posts.

Well, in fact your problem ISN'T the same as SharpieMarker's because his phone is still alive...
I believe you tried to downgrade a G4 to 1.xx bootloader which only exist for G3. Once the battery came out your phone could never boot again. Say bye bye to it...

A LOT of people are reporting failed downgrades which 'block' the SPL at 2.xx. Once there even after 30 flashes the SPL never lowers to 1.xx to allow CID unlocking.
No solution is known until now...

So what is the solution or is it the patched SPL that Olipro is referring to?

The HardSPL (Olipro) is ONLY for use with G4. The flash program should keep you from flashing it to a G3 Wizard because their SPL code are not compatible.
SoftSPL also doesn't work for G3 wizard.
joco2560 should be produced a brick because as I know, no unofficial Chinese ROMs are equipped with G4 IPL and SPL.

Man if only these guys would have read the WIKI... There is a link in my signature to an outstanding tutorial for newbies. Just read it and you will feel enlightened. Everything will seem so simple and life's purpose will become evident... Just Kidding but seriously guys... Read the damn WIKI... I'm tired of reading about bricks.

Alright, this is helpful and I was hoping there might be a few suggestions as to what to do at this point. Thanks guys for the comments.

Okay, firstly I have not bricked my device. I have read all of the guides and walkthroughs before attempting anything on my wizard. Unfortunately your guide that you have written, just like the other ones, has not answered my question or told me what I should do (unless I have missed it somewhere which is possible).

Okay, after some finagling with the lokiwiz application I managed to unlock and then cid unlock my phone however the IPL is still 1.05 and the SPL is 2.25. Is that accurate or should the SPL be lower now? Do I need to reflash?
Alright, after re-re-re-re-re-reading the instructions I think I understand the bit about IPL and SPL. I think. Feel free to clarify though.

If lokiwiz does not show any errors during unlocking (NOTE That lokiwiz always shows successful regardless it is actually unlocked or not, so the error message is the most important), then either try to flash Button's ROM again and you will get 1.05 IPL and SPL (That's my way), and others suggests to upgrade IPL and SPL directly to 3.08.

There was no error message when I CID unlocked. It successfully unlocked both times (the first using the U command and after a restart using the C command). My phone restarted twice during the unlocking so I think it went just fine. So should I proceed with the flashing of the tmobile rom? After the unlocking I have an IPL of 1.05 and an SPL of 2.25.

You can always go back to Button's ROM, so it's OK to flash T-Mobile ROM.
However I still recommend to flash Button's ROM once more first.

Well I decided to flash the t-mobile rom and it went smooth. Everything works fine. So now I have an IPL and SPL of 2.26 so I can flash some of the more interesting roms right? Thanks for all the help and advice guys. Much appreciated.

Yes you should now be CID unlocked and can flash any Rom you want as long as it does not contain an IPL/SPL.
And by the way, It does tell you in that WIKI exactly what you need to do to CID unlock your device. (The SPL will not downgrade to 1.05 unless you flash the button Rom again AFTER completing The Unlocking Process through lokiwiz. I wouldn't even reccomend flashing the button Rom again. It's pointless because Flashing the T-Mobile Rom is going to upgrade you IPL/SPL to a higher, matching pair and is going to give you a very strong, stable base rom to flash to a custom Rom From.

I think you should check your CID status with WST before trying to flash a custom ROM. Lokiwiz doesn't check for errors and proceeds as if everything went ok even if it didn't.
For all we know your phone might be originally from T-Mobile and even CID locked would always accept an official ROM.

Back to the stock SPL? The only thing I can think off and it MAY NOT WORK OR BRICK YOUR DEVICE because I haven't tested it is using USPL to flash the stock RUU and hopefully that will overwrite the SPL.

From my understanding, the stock Tmo Wing RUU does have SPL and will over write it back to stock.

Except that the HardSPL is coded not to let another SPL overwrite it. Using USPL should overwrite this lock.

Yes. That will let you use any ROM, but if he wanted to go back to the stock SPL for warranty reasons, that would be the way to go, I would hope.

I'm sorry. Please restate your post. I didn't quite understand it.

i found a eaiser way and u dont need a uspl all u need to do is get the stock ruu and run it. your phone is going to restart...simply put it back into bootloader mode without taking off the usb and your done!!!!!

This will not overwrite HardSPL.

I don't understand. You HAD the HARDSpl installed in your phone? You ran the stock RUU and it automatically wrote the HardSPL even though the HardSPL was purposely coded not to allow that?

SO you say when installing a official RUU WITH SPL.nbh - the HArd-SPL will be overwritten??
Please clarify your devicesttings.

i tried it again and i missed a step (my bad)
here are the steps that worked for me......
step 1 :run the uspl (in the botton link of these steps) but in step 3 of the uspl program the ruu isnt going to work..
step 2 : put ur phone in bootloader run the stock ruu and at 1% the phone is going to restart and get out of bootloader..
step 3:simply put it back into bootloader (without disconnecting it to your computer) and let the stock ruu run...after go thru the steps...the align the screen put a pasword ect.. let it update the windows (if u dont want it to update then just soft reset the phone before it starts) and then your done.

verified: wing can go from hard-spl to stock spl via uspl
1. download uspl aka flash center and wing factory ruu
2. copy RUU_signed.nbh and SPL.nbh from wing factory ruu to flash center
3. run it
completed successfuly with no intervention, didnt have to put in boot loader
after flashing i checked (soft reset while holding camera button)
spl was 4.10.0000

Bootloader--Stuck

After trying the above, I now get the bootloader screen... showing IPL 4.17.0001 and SPL 4.10.0000.. Try flashing it with
Stock--RUU_Herald_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.7.707.3_02.69.90_Ship_R.exe [Error 226 Flash Write] &
HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe [Invalid Vendor ID] & RUU_Herald_HTC_WWE_5.4.405.1_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship.exe [Invalid Vendor ID].
I also tried alot of the cooked rom v4.0/V4.4/OpenTouch 2.4/
HERALD.ASERG.23F.WM6.RUS.PS6.rar but also get error message as file corrupt [#270]
I had the hardSPL installed before this..Trying to got back to stock rom because I am selling the phone. Do you guys have any suggestion?

[Q] Can't Install New SPL

Hi all,
I really wanted to try out the latest Hero build. So I began the procedure, first by flashing the radio, then the SPL. The radio update went fine. I also installed the new SPL (no errors whatsoever), but when I checked to see whether I had the correct version, it displayed HSPL10.95.3000 (I had installed a HardSPL before). I reapplied Haykuro's SPL update, and still no change. How can I remove the HardSPL, and is it okay to continue the Hero install with my version? I don't want to brick my phone (obviously) and I'm quite a newbie.

You cannot "remove" the SPL. it can only be overwritten by the Haykuro SPL. I suggest re-downloading the Haykuro SPL and flashing it again. Do not flash a hero rom with the SPL that you currently have.

The second type of HardSPL is truly HARD...They bypass the vendor checks on ROMs, allowing you to load any ROM onto your device. This is a necessity if you want to run a cooked ROM. They disable overwrite of the current SPL. This is why I say they are truly HARD. So, even if your ROM comes with a new SPL, it won't overwrite your HardSPL.

Well if you remove HardSPL what SPL will you have for that like 5 minutes or so? Try flashing to Engineering SPL first and then flash Haykuro's Special SPL

Bootloader problem

Guys, i've finally decided to flash my stock rom. It's orange one and info says is't SPL-1.14.0000
Now, but whenever i connect phone to computer it says "serial" on the bottom and i'm gettin warning usb device not recognized from computer.
Help pls..

You can use USPL or HSPL. USPL will change your stock SPL only for a moment, so you can't be worry about warranty.
HSPL will change SPL and replace it. You can also restore stock SPL and delete HSPL from device before you give back device to the service.

if you have stock ROM now and you want to change it to e. g. Miri 6.5 v25 ROM which is 1.56 based, you must first install official 1.56 ROM which replace youcy stock SPL to 1.56. Second you can flash it with USPL or HSPL to get e. g. Miri ROM.

Ah i understand, first of all i need new official rom, which is 1.56 and then i can use basically any desired rom. Does flashing 1.56 rom means i'm gonna loose warranty on my phone?

you can get 1.56 ROM on official HTC Website- you You'll not lose the guarantee
but
Every unofficial ROM from XDA it's the loss of the guarantee, but you can restore stock ROM and go to service...

so you have to get deviceID from guy who can download it. Then you can install it using USPL/HSPL

dnload and install hspl 1.56 olinex from the tutorial thread..
no need to update to official rom... jus a waste of tim..
if u dont want hspl then dnload 1.54 stock from the same thread and flash it.
use uspl nex tim onwards to flash new roms.
updatin to officials is a waste of time..

Talking about 1.56, what i ment is that i've downloaded updated and it wouldn't install. So guess will have to do it through the bootloader. Am i correct?
Last think i want is to damage my "gem" lol..;-)

the best advise i can give u is install hspl 1.56 olinex..
this is because in future if nethin goes wrong wid ur usb port u still can flash stock rom and spl.
if u use uspl it will not be possible...
and in any case fr warranty purposes also ull change spl from 1.54 to 1.14.
so why not 1.56.olinex to 1.14.
involves the same steps rite!!

Hello all,
I have a rooted G1, CM 4.0.2, PVT 32B, and Radio-2.22.19.26I
--First of all I have read this thread."http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548924".... How do I find my current SPL?
--Primarily-I would like to know why/if I should flash the Danger SPL. What benefits will it give me?
--Also, that thread I posted explains how to flash the radio, spl and CM mod.
Do I need to do all three things just to get the updated SPL?
--If I just want to flash the SPL. I think I just need to DL the "spl-signed" zip file and rename it "update" and flash it.
If I am wrong could someone please link me to a tut or explain how to flash the SPL only?

As long as you got the newest radio (which you do) just update.zip and update. The "danger" spl will free up more space on your phone allowing you to install the hero roms. If you decide to do the new spl then be prepared once you flash it you will be stuck on the g1 screen. All you got to do is load a new rom and you'll be back to normal.

So when I am stuck, how do I reboot to load a rom? Do I remove the battery?

Just before you flash the new spl put the rom you want to use on the sd card, then boot into recovery and flash. Remember if you use the new recovery you don't have to rename to update.zip.

Hi,
while this thread is on the go may i ask anyone if they can tell me how to display the currently installed SPL ?
is there a command that shows this info ??? is there another method ???
and am i correct to assume that as i have 90-MEG total on my G1 that i must have the latest SPL ??
i was so careless not making a note of which spl i used during the root method !

To check, boot in to the SPL by holder camera and power when the phone is off. The version should be at the top of ths screen. A rainbow coloured screen means the SPL is stock.
