Connecting to O2 GPRS service

I had trouble connecting to O2's GPRS service using information from various places. I contacted O2 who did not know (apparantly) that the Qtek 2020 _is_ an XDA. :idea: I convinced them it was and then they gave me the settings as follows > THANKS O2!!
We have the GPRS WAP settings for the O2 XDA®, which I have listed below:
Please make sure that when entering 'O2' into the settings, the letter 'O' is selected and not a zero.
Tap Start
Tap Settings
Tap the Connections tab
Tap the Connections icon
Under 'Internet Settings' drop-down box should be set 'New'
Rename 'My Connection' to 'GPRS Pre Pay'
Tap 'Modem' tab
Tap 'New...'
Rename 'My Connection' to 'GPRS Pre Pay'
The 'Select a modem:' drop-down box should be set to 'Cellular Line (GPRS)'
Tap 'Advanced'
On the 'TCP/IP' tab, only 'Use server-assigned IP address' should be selected
Tap the 'Name Servers' tab
Only 'Use server-assigned addresses' should be selected
Tap 'OK'
Tap 'Next'
Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Tap 'Finish'
Tap 'Proxy Settings' tab (*Note, the soft keyboard may be hiding this tab - tap the keyboard icon at bottom right to clear this away)
Ensure that 'This network connects to the Internet' box is ticked
Ensure that 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' box is ticked
Tap 'Advanced'
In the 'HTTP' field (Server) enter: 193.113.200.195
In the field to the right of this (Port) enter: 8080
Tap 'OK' four times to exit

the Access Point Name payandgo.o2.co.uk is only for the Pay As You Go customers; Pay Monthly customers just use mobile.o2.co.uk for Mobile Web and wap.o2.co.uk for O2 Active (GPRS over WAP).

[SOLVED] third party apps cannot connect

I am having an issue where my third part apps cannot connect to the net.
Live search, google maps, 3dtracking
IE works just fine I can browse no probs.
the third party apps do work with my wifi connection. when i am connected vie wifi at home everything works fine.
could it be some kind of security setting?

NM. I solved the problem
http info was missing. although I could have sworn it was setup.

Look in Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Edit my proxy server>advanced tab>HTTP

everytime I connect to active sync I losse my http settings for the proxy.
So here is what I did.
settings/connections/advanced/se;ectnetworks/edit medianet/proxy settings
This connection uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. I UNchecked that box. basicly I turned off the proxy.
now all of my apps can connect just fine.
This is with a stock ATT tilt.
I hope this helps others in the future.

At&T Tilt using HTC Kaiser ROM
nothing but IE or Email could start a data connection
Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks
It had "My ISP" selected as the default
Changed it to "MEdia Net" and everything's gravy.

Ok, so after a battle with my Live Search not showing any data and unable to connect to the GPRS, I found a solution... in case anyone else has same problem, read on.
1. Reset back to all your default connection settings. It will take u 5 minutes, just follow this guide:

2. Go to your Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Advanced
Click Select Networks
Select Media NET in the first drop-down, then click corresponding Edit button
Go to "proxy settings" tab at the bottom, and UNCHECK the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet".
Now close all the windows, restart Live Search... and boom - it should download everything just fine.
P.S:
The idea is to have all the settings exactly as ATT wants them to be, with the EXCEPTION of disabling the Proxy.

Internet Access Issues - Please help

After 7 months of Tilt ownership I finally flashed a custom ROM - Dutty's Hybrid 6.1 with a 1.65.20.29 radio.
I am now having intermittent ability connect to the internet. The most success I have is with a browser, which usually works (in that case it says "Connecting to MEdia Net"; which is different than the below). Checking email fails with a few possibilities:
1) Sometimes Messaging pops up a box that says "Cannot connect. Be sure that your connection settings are correct, and try again"
2) Sometimes it says "Connecting to My ISP GPRS" twice in quick succession and then comes back with a dialog box "Cannot Connect" and says "Dialed: isp.cingular. Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings ..."
Even if I connect to my wireless network at home, and try to check email, it tries to go out onto the net and gives me #2.
Can someone please help. Its ironic - I put off flashing a custom ROM because I didn't want to bork my phone, and now I have lost one of the most important functions.

Go to: Start > Settings > Connections [tab] > Connections > Advanced [tab] > Select Networks
The first drop-down should be set to Media Net, select the edit button just below it. Go to the Proxy Settings tab and make sure "This network uses a proxy..." box is unchecked. Hit OK and make sure the second drop-down is set to Media Net as well.
This should fix your connection issues. If you are still having problems with your email go to: Inbox > Menu > Tools > Options > [Select your email account] > Edit Account Setup > Next [until you get to a screen that has a link to Advanced Server Settings, select it] > Network Connection: Media Net > Done > Next [until Finish].

Aaaah ... another Dutty ROM Victim. I had moved off of stock ROM as well, tried Dutty, could not get reliable Internet, and went back to stock.
All the directions in the preceding post are the first step.
The next step is to then also go into KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig and turn off the other Internet Settings, leaving on MEdia Net.

I don't have Media Net as an option...what should i do??

Invisible "MY ISP GPRS" - Any Ideas

Greets,
It seems a number of programs, including GPSTest and XM Radio, try "MY ISP GRPS" instead of MEdiaNet. However, the ROM I am using does not show "MY ISP GPRS" and it is misconfigured.
When I go to the Connection Setup and try to add "MY ISP GPRS" it refuses, saying that it already exists. However, only MEdia Net can be seen.
Does anyone know either (i) how to make the invisible MY ISP GPRS visible so that it can be properly configured or (ii) how to delete MY ISP GPRS when it is not shown on the connection manager.

Start --> Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced --> Select Networks --> Change both to read "MEdia Net" --> OK --> OK --> Restart device.
All connections to the internet should now go through MEdia Net.
