Hey all,
Are there any programs for runners that I can use for my fuze? Specifically, something like a GPS program that will track my route/distance/speed. I've heard this kinda thing exists for other phones, but not heard about this phone.
Thanks.

sorry you had to resort to an iPod...I just puked a little thinking about it
Thanks! Just what I was looking for.
SportyPal is quite good, I'm using it for cycling(very good), but i read now on some thread that for running they have added to show the pace in real time with also all the other tools for measuring speed, distance, calories ...
try RUN.GPS, works very fine on mine.
Regards,
P.
+1 for SportyPal (sportypal.com). I use it to track my kayak trips down the rivers in the panhandle. It will overlay your path on an aerial photograph and has links with Facebook, so you can share it.
Sportypal is my program of choice. During the cross country season I can give my phone to one of my lead runners and track their pace during intervals and can also tuck it in my jersey pocket when I go on bike rides and have all that data at hand as well. Best thing? It's FREE!
check out endomondo. very nice and free.

I got an e-mail from them, that very soon they will have the option to choose the workout type from the phone as kayaking, rowing or some other interesting type of sports.
I dont think anyone mentioned G-Watch which I have found to be excellent for just what you described.

Some new types of workouts are added:
skiing, rowing, horse riding, driving, flying, sailing, swimming, hiking, paragliding, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, surfing

SmartRunner is one of the best applications for tracking, imho.

Maybe others don't have this problem, but sometimes when I come out of a pub/club in London after celbrating another glorious Scottish footballing victory, I have no idea where I am. It's nice to rely on Google maps and my GPS to help me out (assuming my diminished brain functions are up to it), but on the Orange 30MB tariff that blows goats.
Has anyone found a nice cheap/free alternative that would give us city street maps in storage and integrate with the GPS too?
Ferg.
GPS starts at $99 USD for a full blown system. then it's yours for life. sure it's not free, but it's not that bad either.

If your brain is not up to snuff, then perhaps you should not be driving... Call a Cab.
Perhaps limit your post football rampages to pubs that offer free WiFi?

By the way that's Fergus with the odd colored (mis-spelled for the US market) shoes

Hehehe. Sorry, I neglected to say that I need the software primarily for going by foot and tracking my position!
I find that TomTom aint that hot when you're going by foot.
Like the pic Mike. Hopefully we'll get some more similar ones from Switz/Austria. ;-)
If I were you, I am English and probably wont have to travel much after events in Moscow , I would cough up to Orange for a SIM unlock and then stick a T-Mobile PAYG SIM in it and be happy that for a maxiumum of £1 per day I would have "unlimited" mobile data.
Memory Map uses offline maps but they are £££ unless you go looking in the dark side of the Interweb. If you have Autoroute on your PC you can install Pocket Streets. These last 2 options involve you manually preinstalling the map areas you will need. I have found that the size of map needed is directly proportional to Alcohol intake
I was just given a newish 17" LCD (VGA) for free. I'm already using both ports on my PC, so what can I use it for? Obviously I could sell it, but I'm wondering about other uses:
- Video game console if I pickup a converter?
- Some sort of info display in my bedroom? (easy, cheap way to display headlines, current weather, etc.?)
- neat-o big ass digital picture frame?
What else? Also, does anyone have any leads on the above? What say you?
Use it as your PPC's monitor, drag it around town, woooooohooooo!!!!
Or as a door greeter:

if u can build pc make a car pc
17 is WAYY too big for a carpc, im using an 8in and thats huge considering your only 1 foot away from the screen. if i were you i would put in next to your current monitor and put ur music player and stuff like that on that screen while u use the main screen for web browsing and what not.
What I'd really love is a Chumby like device or the WidgetStation (which I don't know if it will ever come out...)
I could re-create it using a small Linux system, but it's the hardware I don't have a clue about. I envision now waking up to this display near my bed, on it are some "widgets" with weather, time, some RSS feeds, etc.
That would be sweet...
That's not a bad idea ChaOConnor. I like having everything right there when I wake up also.

Any suggestions / favorites in terms of "Running" applications?
I downloaded the "run.gps" trial, but it's not great. It seems to have a problem with the GPS sensor.
Anyway, there are a number of apps on the market, but I can't seem to find a good, comprehensive list or any reviews, and I was hoping to find a few suggestions from forum members, but I can't seem to find search terms that produce any results.
Thanks!
Buddy Runner by Cooloud. Elevation seems way off but I'm not interested in that. I've tried a few and thats the one I'm sticking with.
I use cardio trainer, i found that the best allthough i had stop the pedometer coming on because it was not very accurate when i have the phone on the waist. Also the gps is not as accurate as a garmin it seems to gain distance for some reason, oh and also it dosnt show splts. So basicly although it fairly good its not great and i have tried a few of them. I got ideas for a app like this and gonna have a crack at doing one but i am only learning so i am not absolutly sure i can do it but if i can it will be perfect for me anyway.
I use sportypal (free) it gives you options for all sorts of activities running, bikes etc. Also maps it for you. Pretty cool app

Yes I use sportypal also, for running is very professional and accurate with showing the pace while running, the speed, distance, time ...
And after finishing is very easy to upload the track with one button click or share across the social networks.

Hi guys,
I posted several months ago about a program called Zazu Alarms. Since then, we have been hard at work at polishing the program and releasing it on new platforms. Zazu is an application that knows you. It reads your weather, your schedule, your local deals, your news, and more!
Today, we are proud to announce that Zazu Mornings is now available on iOS (iPhone/iPad), Blackberry, and Android. You can download it from our website, and be sure to check us out on facebook, and twitter!
Here is some more information about Zazu:
. Ever woken up wondering what’s in store for the day? We all suffer from this digital dependency that drives how we make decisions, who we meet, what we buy and even how we feel.
. We live a world where we rely on unintelligent apps to tell us what’s next. The mail app only shows you mail, the calendar app only shows you the day’s meetings; the maps application still doesn’t know you’re heading to your next meeting. It’s like having an assistant who can only do one thing at a time.
. Zazu provides integrated access to your personal information, helping you make informed decisions. We integrate with your calendar, weather, traffic, news, and internet content that’s most important to you. Instead of just giving you one piece of data, we intelligently layer it together, helping you spend less time forging through different apps.
. Our technology should work for us and we don’t believe it’s too much to ask for. It’s time for apps to become smarter. It’s time to think less and do more.
Thanks for taking the time to check this out, and please feel free to try it out (Android and iOS versions are free!) and post your feedback here. We love feedback
Happy Zazu'ing!
