Use Root Explorer to move them to your app folder.

Try Astro. I can install widgets fine....which ones are you trying to install?

I'm running Cyan's 3.6.8.1, without a theme, and have no problem installing apks with Linda.

Make sure you have unknown sources checked under settings > applications. Put the .apk on your sd card and install.

Weather Widget Donate

Hi all,
Does anyone know if i can get Weather Widget Donate if don't have access to "paid market"? (I'm from Scandinavia)
Thx in advance!
Try one of these..
Rename them from .zip to .apk and run on the android using a file manager (Astro file manager (free from market) works like a charm)
Thx! I'll try that!
I can get the clock to work but not the forecast. It can't refresh. Anyone having a newer version?
Or what can i do?

Very kind of you mate, I've been trying to get hold of the flip clock for ages. Even though I have market access I cannot buy apps until Google supports Maestro debit cards. Thanks

I uninstalled, ran fix_permissions, and reinstalled. Then powered off and back on, but still no luck. I just ran fix_permissions again with the app installed and rebooted, but again no luck.
when trying to configure the widget, I get a force close.
i'm using 4.0.4 but with enoch theme, and the weather widget works fine, can't see why a theme would cause you issues?
Did you have it installed prior to 4.0.4? do you have your sdcard partitioned? If so i would recommend formatting the ext2/3 partition and trying again!

I did not have it installed prior to 4.0.4. My SD is partitioned (ext3) already. Did an uninstall and reinstall and nada.
It's a bit of a long shot, but you could uninstall it, format your ext3 partition again, then re-install.

Just got an e-mail back from the developer stating that it is a ROM problem. Couldn't hurt to re-flash the Cyanogen 4.0.4 right? Right now I have 4.0.4 running with Dark Hero. Weather Widget Donate is also installed. If I am going to just start from scratch, I should:
1. Uninstall Weather Widget Donate + Forecast AddOn
2. ReFlash 4.0.4
3. ReInstall Dark Hero
4. Reinstall Weather Widget Donate + Forecast AddOn
Please advise if this doesn't sound correct.
I would format the SD card too and do a full clean install.
Personally, I would;
- Wipe/clean the data on the phone with recovery image
-Format SD into three partitions with recovery
-Install new rom eg CM 4.0.4 (copy rom onto formatted sd with a card reader)
-Boot up new rom to make sure it boots up.
-Load up recovery mode, install new theme (no formats or wipes)
-install the weather apps

bhav,
I currently have three partitions, will the wipe/clean from recovery remove them? If not, do you suggest reformatting the three partitions?
the wipe clean only does the phone side data stuff, you have to manually do the SDCard
EDIT: nevermind, got it.

Have you tried enbling non-market app in NookColor Tools?
I figured this out about 4am this morning. I actually found it in another thread not directly related. Go into settings UNCHECK the Allow Non_market Apps then re-enable Allow Non_market Apps reboot Nook and it should work. You can get to the option by opening NookColor Tools.

[Q]Installing App Failed HELP!

I'm try to install Guerilla Bob, Dj Rivals and Samurai 2 via PC downloads
so i tried to install, then it wont.. so i tried to push it in system\app and then set the permission and reboot.. it just gave me an error.. so i open the root explorer again and go to system\app path and open these apps and i hit install..
it all works, i have no issues about samurai 2, but the 2 remaining app run only if i reinstall again via root explorer, so meaning when i reboot the guerilla bob and dj rivals goes back to that error..
is there a way to fix these? thanks
Well, the first step you chose to install them is wrong... you do not install 3rd part apps by push them to /system/app... this does not necessarily inflate them and install them.
Uninstall the apps/games and delete the files you pushed to /system/app
Copy the apps/games to the SD card and install them by tapping on the files using a file manager... or use adb to install them...

This sounds like the issue I'm experiencing trying to install the tapntap keyboard on CM7 and CM7 based builds. I tried copying the apk and libs via root explorer and changing their permissions but it resulted in the keyboard force closing. Should've went with my gut and used adb, going to try that next.

[Q] Manualnooter 4.5 App problem

I've got my nook color rooted with ManualNooter 4.5.18 but I'm not sure where to put the apk files. Do they go on the SD card and if so in which folder or just on the card. I also need to know how I then install or access them. Thanks
I just place the APKs in a folder called backup apps on the SC card, I don't think it matters much.
For some apps I did have to copy the APK to internal in the Nook, I just used a folder in the my files folder.
The important thing is that you can find the files once they are copied.
I use ES File Explorer to navigate to my APKs and install them. It's free from the market. As for where to put any APKs that you want to load manually, anywhere that makes sense to you should be fine. I have a folder on the SD card called "downloads" that I stick everything into.
When I use that program it says install blocked, and my phone is set to block installation. Any way around this?

Thanks but I have not installed any rom yet.I only rooted.can I use the root explorer or Linda?will it work?
it will depend on the .apk, give it a shot, linda is free in the market. after you download your 3rd party app, open it with linda and see what happens if it tries to download but then you get an error at the end the app may not work for your phone/firmware.

If the app downloads but installation fails, usually its because the app requires a newer android version
