Rogers EDGE Not Working? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys (and girls), since my first question was answered so well here I am back for more of your knowledge
Ok, so I have the Call, Text, and Click plan from Rogers that allows me to have unlimited mobile internet access. The only problem is I can not access it. I have tried every Rogers APN I can find on the internet and all of them make the E logo appear and even make the arrows flash every once in a while as if it is trying to access but it fails every time. Here is a list of the APNs I have tried in case there is one I have missed:
Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720

Name: Rogers
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MCC: 302

Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
MCC: 302

*EDIT*
By the way I have an unlocked T-Mobile G1 and I have tried turning data roaming on and off with no luck.

Can anyone help me? Is anyone else at least having the same problem?

Well there's the problem..
Crysanna of IntoMobile said:
Unlimited on device browsing is not compatible with the iPhone. It is only available for WAP browsing on specific websites (websites specifically designed for mobile phones and available through the Rogers (NYSE: RCI) portal). Since the iPhone uses regular HTTP Internet (like you see whenever you use a computer) and not WAP, the unlimited browsing will not work...
Click to collapse
So I know it says iPhone but it also tells how the unlimited browsing is WAP which the G1 does not use.. So I basically wasted $20 this month on something I can't even use. That's nice.. Damn Rogers should have said something..

So I am confused now. I used these settings I just screwing around on google cause I have nothing better to do at 11pm on a thursday night:
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
Proxy: 208.200.67.150
Port: 9201
APN Type: Wap
And now I get internet.. What?
:EDIT:
After about 15 minutes of excitement and the ability to finally browse the internet on my G1 sans-wifi, it has stopped working..

So I am slowly realizing that I am the only person with this problem and it seems like I am gonna have to fix this myself. Well I will keep posting just in case I get a fix and someone else wants to know how its done.

[Q] Lost 3G AT&T service after traveling overseas

While traveling overseas in Malaysia I bought a pay-as-you-go SIM card and got phone and 3G service for a week. Worked great!
Now that I'm back in the states I have no 3G service with AT&T.
What do I have to do to get my phone back to 3G service? I can call and text just fine. Wifi is fine too.
I've looked for a FAQ please point me to one if it exists.
I'm running Cognition 3.02. Probably more info is needed. If so please let me know.
Thanks,
Gary
Solved!
Did some reading on the site and found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943937

[Q] 3G connectivity Problem - Fido Canada

Hello,
I have a GT-P1000 that I am trying to connect to the Fido network's 3G/H 850/1900 without much success.
I am currently running the Overcome Stock Safe firmware and have gone through a number of modems trying to achieve the networks full potential.
So far all I can get is G/Edge.... would be KILLER to get it running on 3G/H!!!
I am curious if there any other Fido customers out there that have tried to get the Galaxy tab up and running on the Fido network.
Thanks
Someone else was complaining about the same problem. I sent him through everything I could think of and it's a no-go. The euro tab doesn't like the North America 1900mhz 3g band.
Hmmm..
Is it a firmware issue or modem issue? Or are you saying I have a TAB that is pretty much neutered in North America when it comes to 3G?
Thanks for the reply.
B.B.
He flashed every modem - so it's the chip.

Thank you
I am very happy to post that I have resolved my issue regarding the lack of connectivity in my region.
It was in fact a modem issue.
I found the solution on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847273
I followed the instructions on that thread to test the modem under the ROM prescribed there... it worked on all available bands in my region, and proceeded to use just the modem along with the overcome ROM, and again success.
I am attaching the modem for any other Canadian Fido users encountering this problem. Hope it I can pay it forward.
Thank you again for all you help.
Great support structure here at XDA!!
That's the recommended modem for North America, included in the Team Overcome download. Your baseband will say i9000JK3.
How did you miss that modem when you flashed all the modems in the stickie?
That is the kicker,
I did in fact try the JK3 modem that came with the Overcome download, and it did not function. At all.
I am/was left wondering this myself.
This modem specifically, this time... after going through the process of reverting back to 2.2 from the url in my post...
Worked.
I, in no way claim to understand why. LOL!!
Just thanking for all the great help.

The baseband reads:
I9000UGJK3
That's funny. Now if I could remember where I left the car keys . . .

APN Settings from micro SIM

So, my work lets me swap around phones...so they got me the iPhone 4 a while ago...I was on Android before that, thought I'd give iOS a spin...anyhoo, I wanted to go back to my Vivid but I didn't want to have to keep bugging my cellphone lady at work to keep changing the SIMs around (micro to regular or whatnot). So I wanted to see if I could make a little adapter (easy enough...tons of videos and whatnot online) and then see if I could get the Vivid to act normal with the data.
Put the SIM in and phone part worked fine but of course no data. So I started hunting down various APN settings...trying this and that...at one point I had notifications working..but browsers and other apps still couldn't use data. Finally, I just starting toying around and found settings that let me have data! Figured I would post them in case anyone else is in a similar situation.
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: BLANK
Port: BLANK
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: BLANK
MMSC: http://mmcs.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP or CHAP
APN type: default
Bearer: Unspecified
There you have it. "Authentication type" was the kicker it seemed...none of the sites I found (even here) mentioned it...so i just always left it to "None"...but then decided to change it and that seemed to do the trick.
Hope this helps someone.

Net10 APN settings?

I've tried the recommended APN settings from Net10 and they don't appear to be working since I cant access the internet (Using CM10.1). Does the "Name" label matter by chance? I'm setup with 'Net10' and another set as 'Net10 a'. I'm assuming since they're radio buttons, that I can choose which to use.
This is the AT&T HTC One.
Name Net10
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMSC Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
I also tried this one:
Name: Net10
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 62.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
UPDATE:
I found another forum that set APN to 'tfdata' and this appears to work.
Does anyone know the tested and true setup for APN for Net10? I'm just guessing and hacking setting together...
Thanks!
Ok, so after much trial and error... these are what I feel are good settings for the US AT&T HTC One (CWS_001) running on Net10.
Good reference here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/254729-net10-can-send-mms-but-can-not-receive-mms.html
Net10 recommended, but added APN Type.

Thanks, been looking for this. One question though. When you get a call from someone, does the phone add a + or a +1 to the beginning of the number of the person who's calling you?

Thank you so much. Was starting to regret switching to Net10 when MMS wouldn't work. Used the second set of settings, and now I'm back to blasting my peeps with pics.
Net10 APN
I bought my Net10 service through WalMart. Whenever I have a problem with apn, signal, etc. Net10 customer service is useless. I always take my phone to WalMart and those people have helped me every time. If you have Net10 problems, I recommend you go to the vendor!:

one of the reason why NET10 CS is worthless is because NET10 been out for nearly 2 years, give or take. not to mention, NET10 is a branch of Tracfone, owned by the same person who run them. If you're feeling fustrated by this, i would suggest buying T-Mobile Phone and using their network, since t-mobile phones, once unlocked, can use all frequency of AT&T if you decide to switch.
not to mention, NET10 on AT&T network may spell disaster, since AT&T don't offer unlimited DATA PLAN.

[Q] Really naive question about the HD and SIM cards

My employer provides me with cell service and to date hasn't cared if I use the Blackberry they provide or put the AT&T SIM in a personal phone. Provided I don't hassle the phone support staff with problems I created, of course. I've used the same SIM in 3 different phones over the past year and haven't had a single issue. I just got a used Atrix HD and discovered that it uses a micro-SIM instead of a regular size. I used a template and cut it down to size (and I think I did it correctly). I put it in the AHD and the SIM is recognized as AT&T but I cannot get data service. On first use with the bone stock ROM, I got a text message and was able to reply to it. Because I have no intention of staying stock, over the past two hours I've done the following:
Rooted
Unlocked bootloader
Installed the ATT-US_BuildA ROM
Wiped that and installed CM10.1 nightly from 05/16
I've not been able to get any data service and now the status is 'In service' for Service state, 'Disconnected' for Mobile network state, and 'Unknown' for Phone Number. Even after cutting down the SIM, I can put it back in my Blackberry and voice and data work just fine. Thus I know the SIM is healthy. Questions:
Is the mini-card slot in the AHD that finicky that a mm difference in card size will dork it up?
The SIM is several years old now. Is it obsolete for the AHD (not withstanding size)?
Are there any settings in the phone that I'm overlooking? The eBay seller was in the US but I do not know the original location of the phone.
Thanks for any advice you can provide. Unfortunately, I can't take it to an AT&T store because the account is my employer's. And my employer really doesn't want to deal with my issue that only exists because they were nice and turned a blind eye to me.
maybe you need to change your APN settings go to settings and under wireless and networks select "more...."
then mobile networks and then access point names select the menu option in the top right and select "New APN" and enter the info below
