hey guys, after i upgraded to WM5.0, i always see a white triangle on my top task bar, how can i get rid of it ???, :?: thx
It indicates you're roaming I think. Check what operator you're connected to.
V
Go to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\ and change DisableRoamingIndicator to 1.
after i changed the registry, and powered off for 15sec., and then did a reset, the phone or GSM part did not work AT all, so is there a different way of getting rid of this Roaming symbol???thx
I flashed my M2000 to WM5, and noticed that there was no DisableRoamingIndicator key in the registry, like there was in my Wizard. I added it, but it did not disable the roaming indicator in the Blue Angel like it did in the Wizard. Sorry for the bad info.
Oh, but my phone still worked with that key though. Weird.
so???Yung, u confuse me, do u have A BA, and u were able to get rid of the Raoming Indicator??is that wut u r saying, if u did manage to get rid of it, please share with all us a step by step procedure....thank u
I think Yung means that no, the key didn't work on the BA, but that -- unlike with yours -- it didn't break the GSM support, either.
I just ignore the triangle. I have WM2003. It just tells me that I am on an ATT tower instead of a cingular tower big deal
Hi,
I sent back my first orange TYTN II because their GPRS internet kept connecting everytime I turned on the phone and also every so often for no reason (little connecting icon at the top of the screen kept coming on and the timer started to count). The lady on the phone told me it is meant to do that on PDA phones to speed up accessing the internet explorer and using the internet, after a week of phone calls lol but i'm not sure about this as a guy in an orange shop told me their's doesnt do that. I ordered mine online. Also if this was the case I wouldn't know how long I would be using their GPRS for? lol. Maybe its only an orange thing. I don't know this is my first PDA phone. I told them to disable Orange internet completely from my phone which they did but it still tried to connect and failed lol. I couldn't see any application trying to access the internet etc.
I recieved a new TYTN II after a lot of hassle. Everything seems to be working fine. The problem is now the "Data Connection Button" in the Communication manager doesn't come on at all and I am not sure whether it is suppost to or not. I gather this button is meant to turn off all data connections in one go. Does this include WanLan Wifi? as it doesn't come on when i active this. I cant try the orange internet again because i told them to disable it. I am thinking to call them up to re-enable this but i was just wondering if there is any point in doing this and if there is any point in this button apart from closing connections.
Another question I would like to ask is why when I go into my SMS messages and click on one to read does the scrollbar start at the bottom of the page. i have to scroll up to actually read the message which is annoying. Is there a setting for this? ><
Help appreciated thanks. ^_^
I doubt a faulty device was the reason for the GPRS connection. There are several things on the device that have auto update features. Siome of the things that can cause this are: WLM, HTC Home (Weather Page), Quick GPS, etc...
As for the Data Switch in Comm manager, that is only for data, 3G, GPRS, etc... There is a WIFI/WLAN switch in most kaiser models as well.
Unless you close all the way out of the email app, (end program, x-button) it will open where it last was. Selecting a method other than "Recieved" such as "From" or "Subject" can also cause the device to open if different positions.
Thanks for the reply GSLEON3,
I couldn't find any reason for why the GPRS was automatically connecting when I turned on my phone. I didn’t have any weather etc, it was doing it after I hard reset also. I noticed that it did it every time I turned on my phone however if I used my old sim card before they disabled it for the upgrade it started to do it randomly which was odd. Well it doesn’t do it on my new one so I guess I’m happy. Maybe it was the quick GPS ill never know now. I have installed the HTC home interface because I hate all the orange crap they put onto the phone.
“As for the Data Switch in Comm manager, that is only for data, 3G, GPRS, etc...” just to turn off these data connections? Or does this button speed things up or do something else when it is activated? Ah yes how silly of me about the Wifi. I was just wondering why my data connections button wasnt coming on and really i just want some kind of method for testing it apart from GPRS (dont have provider's GPRS activate) and 3G (video calls? do they come out of my minutes?). I'm confused.
When I click the little SMS button which is located more or less in the center of the home screen above the shortcut tabs it goes to the messages page. On this page I have the Inbox filter selected on the top left and the Received filter selected on the top right. At the moment I have 73 SMS messages going down in a list. When I click any of these to read them including newly received items which go to the top of the list I cannot read the actual message until I scroll up using the scrollbar. I have tried to play around with menus etc to see if it holds the position in memory but I have had no luck in making the bar stay at the top.
If I click the top left button and then click Today to go to the home screen the SMS application automatically closes anyway so it wont open where I last was or keep anything in memory. I think this is what you are saying to do. If I open to read any message and then go out to the list of SMS's it wont remember the scrollbar was last at the top when reading the message so keeping the application in memory will have no use as it resets to the bottom as I enter to read any message. I hope this is clear, sorry if it is long-winded.
Many Thanks
Nevermind I have found out why the message bar keeps going to the bottom in the SMS page. Its because of the "D-Pad Scroll Navigation" in the Kaiser Tweak application.
I will just assume that the data connection button is not required and not worry about it i think. Can't find any information about it.
thanks.
Hello. I have problem with phone in my Kaiser. It is non branded HTC TyTN II. I have the newest official WM 6.1 from HTC website. I Flashed it few days ago.
My Kaiser loose GSM signal every few minutes and reconnect again. I can see it beacuse icon in top bar is changing. When i had old radio (this one from WM6 official ROM from HTC) phone icon not show me that is leak of signal but very, really very people told me that them can't call to me beacuse i was phone turned off. I have my phone turned on every time and i think that old radio loose signal too but not show me this by the icon in the top bar. Now in new radio i can see it. I replace my SIM card in the my operator shop and problem is still exist. I am using Vodafone Ireland. Anybody help me?
If the same thing has happened with both handsets and with two different SIM cards then I would say it is a network issue. Contact your service provider

In other phone SIM card work fine. I replace SIM card in opreator for new one.
I'm having a similar problem. After two days of use, when I look at the phone signal strengh, it keeps switching from full signal to no signal every 3 seconds. This looks the same as the problem that some people had with the GPS that coudn't lock the sat signal. Looks like my phone doesn't lock the mobile network signal.
Also, I can't access any of the Phone functions: no matter how long or how hard I press the green phone button the dial funcion never opens so I can't call no one (or send a message or anything related to the phone function)
I can only solve this with a Hard Reset.

CAB's which are the same in my device:
TCPMP
Task Manager from DotFred
Total Commander
Maybe some tweaks maked in our devices this mess with phone? What you think?
same problem here...
I've got an unbranded Tytn II with the latest WM6.1 from HTC but had the problem already with the old WM6.0. Funny enough the signal is fine while GPS is running; after that it won't work anymore...
What the heck is wrong?
I have the same problem and the best solution I've found is in settings phone change from auto to gsm, so the problem is the 3g or hsdpa.
See you, perhaps kayser tweaks is the problem i don't know.
I can confirm that when i turned off 3G (in comm manager) then phone don't loose signal anymore...
Hi all,
I'm having problems with my HTC diamond, which I hope you don't mind me dumping here for advice.
From one minute to the other, my Diamond suddenly stopped connecting to my provider's network. That is, I cannot make phonecalls, send sms, etc. In the task-bar, there's now an antenna-icon with an exclamation mark. If I remove the SIM card and slide it into another phone, there's no such problems.
Here's what I've already tried to do -- without any results:
1.) call my provider, they said the SIM should be fine, it's registered as active (this makes sense, considering the SIM is working properly in another phone and other SIM cards do not work on the Diamond phone either.)
2.) switch network selection to 'manual'. This keeps giving an error message, saying that the device can't read the network settings ("try again later").
3.) soft reset (red button on the back)
4.) hard reset (volume button + enter button + red button)
5.) hard reset (volume button + enter button + red button) including NAND format.
6.) re-installing the 1.39 ROM (available at HTC.com)
7.) (out of sheer desparation) hard SPL (olinex)
8.) tried to downgrade to the 1.34 ROM (after hard SPL), but failed (froze)
Some possibly interesting information:
1.) I was running TomTom 7.0 navigation software, the back of the Diamond got quite warm (which I know is normal)
2.) The Diamond was hooked up to a universal 5V charger for a car.
3.) I can't get a GPS lock anymore (e.g. with Googlemaps, TomTom)
I'm quite sure that the problem lies within the device, not in the network settings.
Some left-over hypotheses:
1.) I blew up a chip using a universal 5V charger (perhaps it had too high a peak-voltage).
2.) A chip was destroyed by the heat of running TomTom for an hour straight.
But honestly, I don't know very much about this all. Hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance,
Sven
i think this is a "feature" of the Diamond
Mine will randomly loose signal for 30secs - 1 min, then pop back
Mine's failed to pop back for about four days now ;-)
I called HTC. After running through all the check-ups they decided it probably needed repair. They're picking it up today.
i have the exact same problems you listed, im on t mobile but my phone does not pick up any networks. i eventually found out that i needed to plug in my phone to my charger for it to detect a service but i was still getting many dropped calls. did you just call HTC to see if they could fix it? im starting to give up after trying almost everything that you listed, good luck fixing it as i am in the same boat as you
The same problem here...But, my diamond is already in the service... Will wait a few weeks and if you want I will let you know what was the problem. When it happened I was using duffy's rom, I think 2,9 version. Maybe...if you were with the same, might be something wrong there. But one thing is sure...when I get my phone back FOR SURE I will put the original ROM without messing around. I recomend you the same!
Good luck!
Last night i was playing with my gps ( Navigon - Google Maps - Google Nav) I switch the phone off at the comm Manager and left it off like that the whole night.
This morning when i switched it on, the phone refused to receive any signal.
Ive tried the following
Soft Reset
Hard Reset
Different Sims
Switching flight mode on and off aswell as the phone tabs
Ive changed the band from auto to gsm and back and still nothing
Gps, Wifi and everything else still works perfectly.
Before i return it and wait like 50 days for them to fix it, what can i try?

More information please. Rom, Radio, SPL?
Also have you tried calling your provider to ask if theres any problems at their end?
Mark.
I have no idea what rom..
lemme check..i have not changed a thing since i took delivery of the phone about 9 11 month ago.
my sim works perfectly in another phone.
rom 1.56.405.5
rom date 08.28.07
radio version 1.27.12.32
Does your sim work perfectly in another phone *in the same location* though? It was suggested you contact your network provider to see if they have any known issues or there are any reasons why your phone shouldn't be working. It may help if you have the IMEI number ready if you are in the UK, in case there is some reason why it has been blacklisted. If your TyTN II wont work with another sim in it (ideally from another network provider) and your usual network provider is unaware of any reason why this should be happening, then as a stock standard TyTN II, I think you'll have a good chance of having it looked at for free under warranty by HTC. Here in the UK I had my ROM reflashed from their WM 6.1 abomination back to the original WM 6.0 version by HTCs repair centre within one day so unless you choose a turtleback express postage option to send it in, there's no way it should take 50 days.
It started working all on its own again? how weird is that?
it had been normal ?
my tytnII had became the same after flight mode had turned on.
when fight mode off, it displayed "no service".

after I reflash this tytn`s rom, it remain no service.
I think it had wrong with its gsm hardware.
Sorry for my english.
I found this problem too.( no service)
My solution is
1. I format rom by use MTTY tool.
(1. How to check and repair bad block
a). Please make sure that you are SuperCID and you understand the importance of hard spl as this maybe a dangerious operation for you.
b). Download Mtty.exe file in the attachment below and save it to your computer.
c). Open connection setting of your activesync or WMDC on your PC and disable "Allow USB connection".
d). Put your divice into Bootloader mode and connect to your PC via USB
e). Run Mtty.exe from your PC
f). Selec "USB" in port box and then click OK
g). Press Enter once or twice to let the screen dispay "USB>" or "CMD>"
h). Type "info 8" to check if your device has bad blocks. And if there are any,
i). Type "task 2a" to fix the bad blocks.
2. Flash Rom again.
3. Now Signal come.
And you turned your Kaiser into a BRICK...
... If your SPL supports "task 2a".
