does anyone now what it means when the red led light stays on. even when i just turn phone on it is on. drained battery, used different battery, and it still on. when it is fully charged and of charger it will turn green. but as soon as i disconnect charger and hit power button back to red it goes. everything does work fine as far as i know.
black g1
rom is jacx 1.3.
2gig sd
fat 32
ext 3
and linux swap
try flashing a new rom. that will possibly tell you if it's hardware related.
new rom
just flashed drizzy personal new hero rom, reformated sd card first, and the same thing i am stumped
red light and new rom
so far red light still on. but i will tell all this new hero version is the first that doesn't seem to lag when u use phone or other apps it is sweet.
I have the same problem here, like You guys
it is most likely a hardware problem if flashing a hero rom and the led light still stays on.
red led
What kind of hardware issue do u think it could be

You battery or USB port?
try going back to a regular cupcake build and see if it still happens (though if its happening while your phone is off, its definitely a hardware problem
red led
i reformated ext 3 and linux swap;
flashed cyanogen 3.9.10 (nice by the way very nice), changed my battery
and still the same thing. If it was my usb port than way would i be able to mount sd card, listen to music with headphones, talk with 'em, and charge battery. this has gotten me stumped.

does it change color when the battery is fully charged?
Yes goes from dark red to amber, then green when fully charged. But as soon
I unpug usb goes back to red. It also changed colors for notifacations.

I searched and searched. I was reflashing my AT&T tilt on a tmobile net, using the memory card method. I am not exactly sure what i did wrong. I flashed it once tonight and didnt like it even though it worked fine. I flashed it again and when I did the soft reset I think i took the memory card out to soon. Now the phone will not turn on at all. I love this phone, someone please help a brother out
Hard SPL
If I recall correctly, unless you were flashing the SPL, you just need to re-attempt the flash by engaging Hard SPL again.
It's been forever... but I seem to recall that with Hard SPL, you can always recover, unless you are in the middle of re-writing / overwriting SPL.
Erbid
(Tell us you do have Hard SPL installed.)
I cant get the thing to turn on at all I think I have tried every thing. I have flashed twice before without problem. But it just wont turn on now. I guess what im trying to say is I believe hard spl is on it. I ran boot loader from the phone using camera and soft reset. I accomplished the task once already and loaded the newest hyperdragon and didnt like it so about 10 minuts later i did the same thing and tried to install an old dutty one and the phone will not turn on. I loaded every thing and then reset. I think i may have pulled the memory card to early because i dont remember the phone saying it was clearing storage or coming back on. Sorry if this seems longwinded.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but is the battery fully charged? Try charging for a few hours - check that the charge light is on etc. Normally with a bad flash, even if the phone is completely bricked, you will see something try to light up or go brighter on the screen - unless the battery is dead or the screen ribbon disconnected.
It worries me a bit that you 'think' you have hardspl. Either you do or you don't. The process is simple enough to do but has enough steps that you'd definately remember doing it.
Ok, so I think you are sorta right. I put a fully charged bat into the phone but still nothing coming on. Turns out the old battery was dead though. Strange considering it was being charged all day while in the car. phone still wont turn on. anyone know if there is someone who fixes these?

okay the phone isn't turning on but are there any led's lit up? (red, green, orange??) because that indicates there is still life in the phone and recovery is possible. This can be when you turn it on or on charge etc.
Very unlikely you bricked it. More likely a problem with the battery or charger not charging the battery.
When you plug the charger into the phone does a yellow light appear at the top to indicate the unit is charging? If not you have a faulty charger.
Can you get into the BootLoader screen? Try the following:
> Take you battery, sim card (re-lock the cover after taking it out) and storage card out
> make sure all contacts on the battery are clean and replace it
> Hold the camera button in fully and then press the power button for a few seconds (the Bootloader screen should appear)
If the Bootloader screen comes up then read the 2nd line down which starts SPL and report back with the version.
If no Bootloader screen appears then take the Battery out and plug the charging cable into the phone. Then with the battery still taken out, try to get back into the Bootloader screen by holding the camera button in while pressing the power button.
If that gets you into the Bootloader then then problem is with your battery.
If the phone still does not go into the Bootloader screen the problem is most likely with your charger.
thanx, i have since bought another tilt. I put the old battery in the new tilt and it was dead. I put the fresh battery in the old tilt and nothing yet. I didn't try the bootloader yet. I did try charging the phone on the old battery though and no lights what so ever. even with new battery on charger. I will get back to you on the bootloader trick
Bootloader trick didnt work. Thank you though. Looks as if I now have a parts phone that My wife hates me for.

Have you tried the charger from your new tilt in the phone that doesnt work? If you connect the charger then the charging light should come on at the top. If thats not happening but it works on your new tilt then the problem lies in the phone. You can try checking contacts and connections but if you have no life after swapping bits over from your new tilt to the old one then ur pretty much buggered. Can you not send it back as faulty or is it out of warranty?
No warranty. I bought it used. Im on Tmobile. Thank you for everything though. I did try the new charger and got nothing.
I have spent 2 hours looking at forums and none have solved my problem. I will try and state as best possible of what is and what has happened.
When I take the battery out and plug in the charger, it displays a red light at the top left. Sometimes, depending on how long I wait, when I put the battery back in, it either has no lights or turns to Orange. Once, when it turn to Orange, I did a soft reset and it went to the white AT&T screen and just stayed there. I hit the soft reset again and it went to the Red, Green, Blue and White Screen. After seraching, I found out that it was called the bootloader screen. But on mine, there is no writing whatsover, like serial or whatever...just the color bars. When I try and plug it up to the usb on my computer I get nothing. It looks like it will not soft reset unless I put the battery back in and the light goes Orange, that's the only timw it will do it. If I put the battery in and it turns the red light off...it will not do anything...nothing.
Can somebody PLEASE help me try and figure out what to do here? I don't think I will be able to load anything on it since nothing happens when I plug in the usb to the computer.
Thanks for taking the time for listening. And also, I have not loaded anything for 2-3 weeks now onto the phone and this just happened late last night. Thanks again!
Monty
Update...had the battery out and nothing plugged into it for about 30 minutes. Put the Battery in, it powered up, went to the first AT&T screen and immediately went back dead again. If I put the battery in and hook it to the charger, it doesn't charge...so I don't think it is the issue with a dead battery...maybe?
PLEASE HELP...Can't really afford another phone right now.
Sounds like you need a new battery.
But should it power up with the phone charger plugged in...good battery or not?
I don't think so, these phones are pretty strange when it comes to bad batterys. Hopefully you know someone with a tilt that you can swap batterys with.
Even if the battery is dead, it should still start the phone and not go into boot loader. Do you have the OEM or a custom ROM? YOu may also want to try and hard reset. Press and hold the 2 dash buttons down (the ones above messages and internet); the while holding them down, insert the stylis into the reset hole, and let the phone reset. once it resets and goes to the hard reset gray screen, let go of the dash buttons. Then when it asks if you want to reset, press the green send button and let the phone hardrest.
If the battery is dead, and will not charge, the phone should not turn on (at least that was my experence, when I had a bad battery). This is just very wierd
Update #2 - I just went to Batteries Plus and they checked the Battery and said it had absolutely nothing...maybe those times it came up completely drained it.
So I forked out $40 bucks for a new battery and they told me to fully charge it before use. So I put it in the phone, plugged the charger into the phone and it looks as though nothing is happening because there are no lights on whatsoever...itsn't there supposed to be?
I have the OEM Rom.
Should I try the hard reset even though the new battery is not fully charged yet?
I wouldn't.
Your phone might be so dead that it doesn't charge the battery, I've seen this in laptops and other devices.
Update 3 - Since it looked as though nothing was happening, I tried the power buttong and nothing...so I took the battery back out, and the red light came on with the charger only plugged in. I tried to put the battery back in a few times and I finally have an orange light lit up while the battery is in and pluuged up to the charger...does that mean it's charging? The light will turn green once fully charged, correct? Anyone know about how long that would take if that's the case?
turn it on, it's a lithium ion battery, it doesn't have a memory.
It's plugged into the charger, orange light is on, but when I press and even hold down the power button, nothing happens????? UGGGHHHHHH
Should I try a soft or hard reset? Want to ask before I do.
Okay...I did a soft reset and it boots up now....for 3 time it went all the way to the main screen and then rebooted itself...now when it rebooted it went to the Red, Green, Blue and White bar screen. There is no writing on the screen, just color bars. Any suggestions?
Just to say... I don't think it's a good idea to have the phone plugged in without the battery...
Hey i'm new here and i've looked through the forums but i can't seem to find an answer. So i recently rooted and ran OE. i decided that it was a bit slow for me so i changed to Cyanogen's latest build, i have the latest radio and danger spl. but for some reason my phone will shut down out of no where. then even after pulling the battery literally tens of times my phone wont start up, once or twice it will start up so i usally start it up in recovery mode. i've wiped and re flashed the rom twice now and still the same thing happens. now i think it's the battery. but the battery i have looks fine, and i tried another one and same thing, no start up. do you think it's hardware or software related? and is there anything else i can do? thanks
Have you tried with any other rom's?
I would recommend WesGarner's or Super D's rom's cuz they are more indie
It might just be the rom.
its probably a hardware issue, that or your battery is dying?
i would try flashing another rom, but my phone won't boot. i can plug it in to charge and a red led comes on which is normal, but when trying to power it on, nothing happens.

If your led never changes from red, you should probably get a new battery. Mine doesn't start even when plugged in when the battery is completely dead. I have to let it charge for a minute or two before it will start. It could be that your battery isn't taking any charge at all.
Hmmm, you said in your OP that you tried another battery and had the same problem? I wonder if there is something wrong with the charging thing in your phone? If it happened with two different batteries and two different ROMs, there is something going on.
Does it keep running while plugged in with a different battery?
When i plug it in to the charger, should the led even try to come on, it only blinks red.
The other battery i used was at the tmobile store. so i can't test that. i believed the guy put it on the charger for a second with the new battery in when we were at the store, but still nothing.
I did just call and i'm getting it replaced. i think i'm going to buy a 1400 battery anyways. new battery & new phone. hopefully all shall be well
I'm glad you are getting a new phone and battery. If the battery is dead, it is usually solid red, then it switches to orange, then green when it is charged. What you described sounds like you needed a replacement.
ok so i know what im doing and pretty sure i know what happened hehe well my phone started acting up and no one could hear me on otherside so i flashed back to arhd 52 and it booted up fine i restored to original firmware for 52 everything was fine besides mic quality . so i blew in their and dug around with a paper clip in little hole next to usb port never stuck it in usb port. just tiny mic hole . Fixed it my phone was working perfectly
call quality and everything was tired so went to bed and figured id restore today. well when i woke up to my suprise my phone as blinking red with screen off power button just brought up a screen with empty battery symbol and lightning bolt in middle with red led flashing at top left. phone will not respond no bootloader nothing. i did get it to bootloader and recovery twrp a couple times but it just restarted both bootloader and recovery before i could do anything. im pretty sure my battery crapped out or i messed something up with the paper clip inside but i doubt that as i just put it in mic i think battery is DONE and im gonna have to get a new phone. pretty sad since when do batteries only last a year ? oh well got 70 days warranty left just didnt want to lose my stuff if you guys know how to fix this problem of phone not holding charge being able to do anything but show me blank battery and red flashing light. your help will be greatly appreciated. i can have replacement tuesday and have 14 days to send mine in but i would like to get my files off and apps if possible why do i have to have such bad luck lol i had to send this one in 3 times to get camera fixed just to have this happen ?

did you try plugging it into the charger? (you didnt mention that you tried charging it). Plug it in, wait 10 minutes and see if the red light goes on. If it does, leave it plugged in.
Since you cant do anything with it anyways, just let it sit on the charger for a couple of days to be honest. Ive heard of people having issues where their phone completely dies and then it randomly starts up again after a couple of days on the charger.
Also, did you happen to drop it when the issue occured?

didnt drop it. mic started making noise tried an older rom to see if it was the mic itself or hardware. it was mic. so i left phone alone left it on put on charger when i woke up flashing red light wouldnt boot. i have roms on their i can re flash im guessing something went wrong with the rom i flashed after i set phone down for night. or my other theory is when i was trying to get mic to work which i did i broke something lose inside that goes from usb to battery ? is that possible i did stick a paper clip in the mic hole only ? hope it wasnt me they might make me pay for that vs if battery crapped out i should get a free one as im under a year
so far after a day it will do nothing but flash red light and show empty battery
i am able to boot into bootloader or recovery for a second but it doesnt have enough power to flash a rom and it doesnt show battery percentage in recovery like it normally does i think it has had it will leave on charger a couple more days hopefully it comes back alive

i really dont see how sticking a paperclip in the mic hole would cause the battery issue, yea its possible you punctured the mic but it shouldnt effect battery in any way. Im guessing its just a coincidental issue, unless you somehow punctured the battery..but that seems unlikely.
Yea just leave the phone alone for a bit, and call up htc and see what theyre willing to do (price, how long itll take) so you have an idea of what you want to do next.
One thing i would try is holding the power and both volume buttons down while shining a bright light into the light sensor (on the top left of the front of the device)
I charged the Nook HD+ for about 2 days. It seems to be fully charged. Light stays green no matter where I plug it in(Laptop, wall) and I have tried two different cables.
This is actually my sisters device. Mine is the same one, and both cables work on it with no issues.
This device has never been rooted or messed with in anyway. Its fully stock with current updates.
If I attempt to power it on while it's plugged in the light goes black and never comes back on. Same thing happens if I try the power+n thing. I attempted this while plugged into the wall aswel as my PC.
Any ideas? Battery, screen, or just fully trashed?
---------------------------
New Information:
I thought this was my sisters Nook, but after asking her if she had ever opened it up she informed me oh, its her friends and hoped I could fix it.
It may have been opened, I have no idea what its been through.
If the light is green while plugged in, it is not charging, no matter how long it's left there. It only charges while the light is amber/orange. How long has it been between charging before you got it? Have you tried plugging it in, and holding n+power to force it to completely shut down (sometimes it makes a difference, because it tries to boot with little power, and hangs in limbo). Also, if ithas an SD card in it, try taking it out. If it's an older card, and worn out, it can cause that same issue for you. I've tested that with a bad card in a NEW Nook HD+ and managed to make it act like it was broken until the card was removed, then all was fine with it. It's too soon to tell if the battery is completely gone, but I doubt the screen is the issue.

I amended my post, but will repeat here:
I thought this was my sisters Nook, but after asking her if she had ever opened it up she informed me oh, its her friends and hoped I could fix it.

As for an sdcard, no none in it when I got it from her. The screen never even lights up so if the screen is dead, I don't know if it's on in anyway.
I have plugged it in, (light is green) and pressed power+n, when I do the green light goes black and never comes back on. Should I just leave it for a day and see if it charges in the least despite the lights being black?
I have the exact same problem, with *my* sister's Nook HD+.
After a lot of research and playing around, and even getting a new battery and installing it, it still stays green and never boots.
The reason I understand is that the bootloader (x-loader) has got corrupted. If Barnes and Noble could release their tool used for flashing the bootloader, the device would be up again. Plenty other vendors like Samsung, LG etc. have such custom utilities for their own devices. However, BN haven't released theirs.
The 2-nd stage bootloader needs to get downloaded into the device. Only then any other recovery image can be installed.
Just for their unwillingness to release the flashing tool, devices are getting destroyed.
Annoyingly I seem to have forgotten to charge my Nook HD+ and the batter has drained, and now shows no signs of wanting to charge and reboot. The led stay on Green and no amount of pressing the power button shows signs of life. Guess off to shop at weekend for new tablet...
