I am having a big problem...every time I use an app, when I press the home button the Home requires 5 seconds to load, like it was closed before...
There is a way to know if my Home crashes or Android closes it because the Ram has finished?!
It is almost unusable that way...

Is your sig up to date? Maybe you should update the firmware on it. Load 3.6.8.1 or even 3.9.9.1 (as it may be the next stable release from cyan)
You should use compcache and/or a swap partition as it does seem that android is killing vital apps for memory

I am on the 3.9.8 right now (9installed yesterday) but I'll try the latest tomorrow hoping this problem will go away because my G1 is unusable this way...I press the home button 200 times a day! I am wasting 5*200=1000 second of my time per day....Anyway how can I know if the home crashes or it is closed by Android? This can be useful also in the future.

If you update to 3.9.9.1, cyan took out the advanced launcher, so it should work much better for you

The main thread is getting over run with app complaints so i will update this thread with apps that DON'T WORK ONLY.
These aren't in the builds but arent bugs or anything else. They are just not there:
The camera button for H builds
Use K9 for Yahoo Mail if it doesn't work for you. others might work but this is what i use.
Landscape rotation in H
Astro works. wait 5-10 seconds and then press the back button. the pop up doesnt work so it shows a black screen.
wifi tethering now works
Now on to apps:
Toggle Settings(certain features)
Power Manager
Screen Crack
Any Clip Trial
SnapPhoto Pro
Useful Switchers(certain features)
Flashlight Apps
aNetShare(works on some?)
aHome Call list widget(causes frequent crashes)
Screenshot(for some)
iPing Pong 3D
Shake Awake
Scummvm
Klaxon
Wake Me
HideNSeek(0.93beta)
MyEbay
Imeem
Chomp SMS(for some?)
Alarming!
Moov(if you try to just type from the home screen it will force close.)
Dark Keys
Steel(with the slide tab enabled the screen is dark. with in not checked the url is darkened out but the screen is bright and easily readable.)
chompSMS
RTM Tasks
ToDoo
NBA 2 Go
On the latest 4.5 w/ apps on SD:
What doesn't work for me is:
Sweeter Home
Toggle Settings
Power Manager
Screen Crack
Any Clip Trial
SnapPhoto Pro
Useful Switchers (can open but force closes if any settings are changed)
FastBright
iPing Pong 3D (black screen if you try to start a game)
Air Hockey (Puck and mallets do not appear)
Backlight!
Now I didn't try re-installing any of these apps since they could have gotten corrupted when I switched over and re-enabled my pre-existing EXT2 partition. None of these are too essential and with the way these Magic updates are coming I don't like getting too comfy anyway.
Cheers.

I mean't for this to be about the market apps alone so that the bugs threads won't get flooded with app complaints. I'll change the title to reflect that.

Air Hockey Demo works fine for me 5.0.2H apps and data on SD.
What does NOT work for me is Market.
Note: Presumably because of /data/data on SD, I had to clear the cache/data from settings->applications for a lot of apps before they could start without force closing.
Pacman doesn't work. You can't even download it.
The market is still working for 5.02H, but I understand it's not working for 5.01g as of today.
I am having a problem with Shake Awake. It always force closes for me with 5.0.2H.
I'm also having problems with Shake Awake force closing on every phone call. Also MyEbay isn't working - just a black screen until you press back and for a split second the screen comes up.
I'm on 5.02H
Scummvm also does not work
There is a "Cupcake" version available on the dev's website, it also force closes upon startup
HideNSeek (0.9.3 BETA, the latest) doesn't work using Haykuro's 5.0.2Hr2 port. It just crashes when you open it.
You can add Imeem to the list. I tried it in both H and G builds. The music never starts. It just gets stuck in an infinite loop loading the album art over and over again.
add Quickpedia to the list
neither working on H and G builds apps NOT on sd.
Google My Tracks sorta works. If you want to view all of the textual information for your track, it crashes. The GPS will lock on and track you on the map, and it will let you record, but you can't view the text screen.
I've found most GPS applications don't work. Anything based on Maps works, but things that read out data from the GPS like speed and log/lat info don't work.

The kernel for the builds is missing something called netfilter so it won't work on them. The next update will hopefuly have a fix for this.

dont go to hayruko builds!!!
they're not fully stable...
just wait for the us ota 1.5 firmware update
shouldnt be long...
None of the one thousand flashlights work, lol. Well, they work but won't make your screen any brighter like they did on the RC builds.

Pacman works fine for me on 5.0.2Hr2. I had to reinstall it from the Market.
I've had this happen more than a few times and seemingly at random intervals with both stock and custom (Cyanogen) firmware using normal Home and Open Home. I'll go from an app to Home and the screen will flick to the Home screen but with only the app drawer followed two or three seconds later by what is actually on that screen loading then appearing. I thought it would be a RAM issue that would vanish when I started using the linux swap file on custom firmware but no, I still get it. Once or twice a day I could tolerate but not once or twice every four or more app launches.
I've used Task Killer free to close those programs that forget to close / don't want to close but it still happens. Is it something I'm going to have to live with? I've used the Hero ROM floating around quite a lot and that doesn't suffer from this issue half as much.
Cyan's latest (3.9.7) has advanced launcher which need more ram that's why it's happening. Also, openhome is a resource hog, I don't know why would you be using it anyway. How many widgets are you running? Widgets contribute to the problem greatly. All in all, I have that same problem too.. it's just something we have to live with for the time being... I'm sure Cyan will fix it in his next release or two. n If you're inclined to do so... you can push regular launcher.apk from stable rom... that may sort things out.

It sounds like a combination of 3.9.7, widgets and open home. I run around six widgets, three of those are photo frames. With regards to Open Home... I was young and naive (pre-root) and couldn't stand the dull look of normal Android. Hero has a much nicer look to me. I know it's odd but on a Hero ROM I run around seven widgets although two of those are to toggle WiFi and GPS. Still, at least I've got some idea of what to check now. Thanks for the heads-up!
I understand there are many lag fixes, but i think my issue may be past that
My SGS is very very sluggish lately and was before
I'm constantly finding myself at 100% cpu usage (finding out from android system info app) and its making the phone so sluggish, not only is it embarrasing to hold in my hand... but makes me think about suicide (even my htc vogue wasn't this bad)
Reason i even go close to saying the htc vogue comment is, if my vogue lagged... i would press the reset button.. and quick boot back up and all would be well.. but the SGS once after i remove battery and put it back in, it still has very sluggish boot time and isn't as smooth as before
I AM on the latest firmware btw... this is the info i grabbed from Android System Info
The process is android.process.acore (using 100%) which comes from package org.adw.launcher
The EXACT same thing happened with Launcher Pro which is why i tried adw launcher... i thought it might've been launcher pro to begin with, which is why i did the switch.. but now im having same problem
First launcher pro, now adw
I'm guessing the problem is something else..
-- is this lag the one everyone seems to be having? Hence the "lagfixes?"
I applied Ryans lag fix via apk and no difference at all
Is there a way i can dump log / info / apps so maybe we can trace this down?
I LOVE the phone and constantly show off its abilities, but lately its been doing this and making me look like a jackass haha
Appreciate the help!
What's is your quadrant result? But the 100% cpu is abnormal, you need to solve that first.
Did you get that when if you use the touchwiz launcher?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
touchwiz is smaller.. but I'm currently waiting for it to get to that point of lag again (probably in another hour or two) and i'll manually kill adw and launch touchwiz to see how it works
I just ran quadrant with 1808 and i got error while it was showing my result saying internal error during benchmark execution with a close button
I did it again.. got 2198 but same error
... Before i used to get 2200 and before lagfix it was 880
I'll wait for the 100% lag (i just rebooted) and try again and update
Which firmware are you running?
Sounds like you need to do a reflash and format. Try giving jm1 rev.3 a shot as that is by far the best fw to date.
The latest stable firmware on kies, or from here?
From Kies... JH2
I'm on Bell btw, got the GT-I9000M
Toss3: I guess if there aren't any ideas, i'll do a full backup with titanium... and try reflash/format and see how that works... if not its either phone hardware wise or some app that i have
Sounds like a homescreen widget that is doing a ton of processing and pushing your CPU up to 100%. It believe would show up under the launcher, cause widgets run on the homescreen.
that is also one of my theories.. just dont know the easiest way to figure out what it is..
only way i can think is to delete all and slowly add one by one

You don't need to delete all, you can't have too many widgets that could potentially be burning that much CPU, although if you do that'd be my place to start .
Think about it logically... Widgets that need to poll data (facebook/twitter/RSS) and widgets that use a lot of RAM (anything pretty/animated). My inclination is that you have something set to poll very frequently (1min) that is also trying to pull a lot of data at a time so that its not finishing one full pull before it starts the next one.
If that still doesn't do the trick do a backup and reflash (even to the same FW version is fine) and set it up with the absolute bare minimum of widget and homescreens. See if the problem remains with NOTHING, which it shouldn't, then refill over the course of a few days.
Alternatively, you could just try autokiller on agressive. Your problem is obviously coming from an errant process that you aren't knowingly using. Don't see why autokiller won't keep it stomped down.
i dont have any widget with a low update frequency
i have facebook.. vlingo button.. beautiful home and weather... pure calendar.. stock youtube. . google search. batterylife and a brightness toggle
the rest are just contact or app shortcuts
ive tried killing widget processes as well but that hasnt done much help
today ill experiment a bit more though
The phone is really testing my patience though, constantly having full UI lock ups
Hi there people. Here's my problem, when I have apps running, like internet, angry bird, etc, and click home button to return to homescreen, what's left is the wallpaper. It takes about 5 seconds to load up, and takes another 5 seconds to respond to scrolling. It gets annoying when I multitask.
I realise it's more laggy after opening apps like asphalt, hungry shark and especially angry bird, and playing movies. But after it's loaded, it's fine.
What can I do? I am currently on Doc's v7.6 XWJPA rom (startup tweaks disabled) with zenkinz's OC kernel and JFS/EXT4 file system. I have autokiller enabled at strict. I tried EXT4, EXT2 but I don't think it's the file system. I think it has something to do with media scanning perhaps?
Thanks for troubleshooting/advice. Really appreciate it if this can be solved.
No replies? my problem is very similar to this guy,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=689728.
And I've done pretty much did what he did too, factory reset, reflash rom, changed kernel, still nothing.
I realise that I don't get the load home screen when I for example,
Angry Bird > Press Back > Exit Game > Home screen pops up immediately usable.
But if I
Angry Bird > Press Home key > Home screen takes 10 seconds to load up and then become scrollable.
What can be done? Really need help guys.
Bump up my thread.
Bump up my post. Really need help.
It's because of your autokiller. Don't believe me? Uninstall it then see what happens. Don't use auto killers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, wow, chill mate. Okay okay. I'll try that and get back to you.

Hi, done that and tested for a while. Still restarts home screen when I press home button. Not solved. I wonder if I am the only one having this issue?
You are not alone. I have the same issues, and I have never had any auto killer installed. The problem occurred after the upgrade to Froyo(stock). Any help would be appreciated.
Well time to put my foot in my mouth. My thinking was that the auto killer was removing the launcher from memory. Thus every time you pressed home, the launcher had to start again from scratch.
Sorry, wish I could be of more help :/
No worries Chalup, thanks anyway.
Yeah, since Froyo I've been getting that. I hope this can be solved.
Hey iamsatan, I think I found the "cure." Do you have quickdesk pro installed? I uninstalled it and now it's working fine. Maybe partly because I flashed a new modem. I flashed JPD modem instead of JPP.
Still testing.
I have the same problem after upgrading to Froyo there is occasionaly very long wait when returning to home screen.
When this is happening also applications are reloading, it looks that the launcher crashes or it is killed.
Any solution?
I've noticed that quite often some apps fail to appear on my recent apps list (the one that appears when you long press the home button). For example I am running Opera Mobile, I long press home, I switch to another app for a few seconds to look at something, then I long press home again but Open Mobile is missing form the list! This can be fixed by immediately pressing back to close the recent apps list and then reopening it by long pressing home. The second time all apps are properly there.
This problem is not limited to S3 mini. A friend running 4.1 on some other Samsung phone (the one with the curved screen, I don't remember the model) also encounters this problem.
Anyone else here affected? I see no references to this problem on the web. Any way to solve this? Or perhaps any news about s3 getting 4.2 hopefully fixing this?
It's quite annoying considering it happens a few times per day to me.

Never happened...maybe it's related to the specific app (in your case Opera Mobile). It also happens with other apps?

I'm pretty sure it happens with many apps. I'll keep a closer eye on it and if it only happens with Opera I'll reply again. But I'm pretty sure I would have noticed if only Opera was causing it.

Nope, for me it remains. Tried to switch and remain on another app, spending some time on it but opera remains in memory as usual...
Don't know what to say, maybe some process in the rom..

Hope someone else can give you more help, good luck :good:
You're not the only one experiencing this problem It happens every time you switch to another app for few seconds (5-6). I guess this happens because the SystemUI process doesn't have enough time to refresh the index of the apps running in background and generate new thumbnails for them ^^

That's exactly my, wild, guess. Not enough time to generate a thumbnail or something. So it's an android bug and there's nothing to do about it? And why all the lack of information on this bug on the internet?
Hmm

Over a year later and I run into this problem on an S4 running 4.4.2. This thread is literally the only info I can find on this problem. Such a pain, I rely on the recent apps list a lot and half the time either the list order does not update, or an app I last opened or two is missing. Did you manage to resolve this?
This bugs the crap out of me. Google is so lazy and they never fix stuff they just let it go on forever and ever
