Hi I'm new around here. Thanks to the NOOB install guide I could install a great rom from this site. It worked great... untill I made a call. I called someone and after the call I couldn't call anyone untill I soft reseted the phone. I tried to install another rom for the kaiser and I even tried the wm 6.5 rom. They all work but after 1 call the call function cuts working. Is this an common problem?
Could someone help me
you're obviously new here, so welcome!
somehow, i think you're under the impression that we are mind readers
did you search here on the forum? did you read the wiki? which particular flashing guide for noobs did you follow? which ROMs EXACTLY did you try?
what i mean to say is BE PARTICULAR and DETAILED in your posts...and this is a NECESSITY if you are starting a new thread...which really doesn't seem appropriate (yet) because your issue SEEMS to be caused by an unmatched radio version and/or SPL version...BOTH SPL version and radio version must be versions that are meant for windows mobile 6.1/6.5 if you tried 6.1/6.5 ROMs. i have a feeling your SPL is one meant for windows mobile 6.0...another possibility is that the ROMs you tried DID NOT come with a radio (some ROMs do, some ROMs don't) and so your radio version might also be one meant for windows mobile 6.0.
please read the wiki to find out how to determine your radio version and your SPL version...then post back here
you might want to re-read the noob flashing guide also
and to reiterate, always be detailed and always SEARCH thoroughly
good luck
same problem
I have exacly the same problem.
I used Kaiser Unlocker V2.0 Made by Olipro - 2008
The phone actually dials the numbers but there is no sound either out or in.
also when recieving a txt message the vibrate remains on contant.
My Kaiser is running WM6.1
operator v 24.328.1.610
Rom version 3.28.61.0 WWE
date: 05/02/08
Radio Version 1.70.OliNex
protocol version 25.65.30.04H
Honestly i'm less than a neebie! Although an experenced PC engineer, I only wanted to undo the Orange SIM lock before I go overseas for 6 months to an area that only operates Cable & Wireless mobile.
Mentioned above is a note about out of date radio version, the Rom date does seem a little old for WM6.1, what should I be looking for to update the radio?
any advice is greatly recieved.
Thanks
Ian
the unlocker essentially uses a "special" radio+SPL combo that is meant for unlocking ONLY
you seem to still have the said radio version (indicated by the "1.70.OliNex" string)
so verify that your phone is indeed sim unlocked. then proceed to change your spl and radio to the recommended ones for windows mobile 6.1. the unlocking should "stick" after changing the radio+spl combo but do verify before starting and after completing the update.
nice to see you are a PC engineer so you'll have no trouble thoroughly reading the wiki (first link in my signature) and making sense of the wealth of information there on how to update your radio (get a suitable one from the "Ultimate Radio Thread" linked in my signature) and spl.
good luck!
Thanks very much, a temp radio... that makes sence.
Thanks again
Ian

Hi,
I've flashed my Vario with the Qtek update that has Exchange push. The thing is have I done the right thing, I just unlocked it and CID and then flashed it.
Having read the forums a bit it seems i should have preserved the T-Mobile radio update somehow and whatever else? How can I do this and also can someone direct me to the last release of the T-Mobile update as they have withdrawn it from the Website but if I just need the radio out of the ROM then it should not be a problem.
Please advise!!!
i dont understand why you need radio from t-bomile
I read that it has a newer radio version. From reading what other people have done it seems they've used the Qtek ROM but kept other aspects using a thing called aWizard which i havent.
You can run just about any ROM/Radio ROM mixture you want. I’m not sure what you’re worried about? Are you actually experiencing a problem? You didn’t mention that the device was running abnormally. If you have read of others using a diff Radio ROM it’s not because that’s what you’re “supposed” to do but rather others feeling that they get better results by using diff versions.
For instance, I have the latest test ROM on my 9100 and the radio signal was crap with the 1.13.x radio ROM so I downgraded to the previous qtek version. Then just for ****s & giggles I loaded the latest Cingular radio ROM and have found that this combination works best for me. My service is through Tmobile and I have not had a problem running any ROM or radio ROM just some work better than others FOR ME. It’s up to you to decide which combination you like best.
Hope that helps.
I like that... I need to remember this one "for ****s and giggles".
I've been looking now on how to unlock my orange uk kasier for about 2 weeks. I'm going to use Olipro's or jockyw2001's unlocker BUT in order to do this I need the original radio version of the phone which is 1.27.14.32 I've looked everywhere for this and just cant find it and reading some threads it seems like I'm not the only one. Can some one please help.
As I see it without this radio version I cant unlock my phone and therefore cant add other roms as the phone may sim lock and as this is a works phone I doubt I'll be able to ring myself to get the unlock code and it may raise my firms eye brows when I ring them to do it if I 'balls up' and as I've only had it 2 weeks i understand orange wont provide the codes for a miniumum of 3 months
Please dont flame me, I've read hundreds of posts but just cant seem to find this ( or is there another way round this )
I had the same radio ROM on my Kaiser (Orange branded)
I used Radio ROM 1.27.12.32.
All went well & the device runs fine (no sound loss issues that some people had when trying 1.27.14.09)
If you did have ROM compatability issues you could upgrade to the WM6.1 ROM after unlocking.
I think all these files are available in the wiki.
check the rom development section and the wiki, you should be able to find a list of radio only flashes including that one.
Thanks Mr B, Cosmic Blue believe me I have looked and this radio is not anywhere.
Mister B when you 'upgraded' your phone could you still get notification of answer phone messages left on your phone, I've 'upgraded' a hermes before which was on orange and never got this function back unless i put a genuine orange rom on it ?
Hard to answer that one. I had my orange answer phone canceled via orange services prior to flashing.
Your other option is to dump the rom from your device & extract the radio to use for reflash
I think you'll find the notification is in the main rom not the radio.
I remember a few people having problems after flashing cooked roms.
Had some posts on this & a cab file with the required dll to fix it.
Might be worth doing a bit of searching on this.

Thanks Mister B, found the orange cab by Rabdo so nearly there now
Denco7 I'd checked that one already and no 1.27.14.32 which is what I'd really like as I know it works well on my tytn ii.
guess I'll have to look into dumping it then
1.27.14.32
I have that radio version (1.27.14.32) in my Orange UK TyTN II. I've dumped the ROM but I can't figure out how to reconstruct just the radio! If someone can help me I will will upload it.
I also had the same radio 1.27.14.32 and could not find it for download but after some reading I came across the Radio Mister B mentions above 1.27.12.32 and it worked fine (including the answer phone notification) with the Dutty rom I was using I think it was the (DualTouch V3). I've since upgraded to the L26 V9 rom with radio 1.58.25.17 and its still working fine, although I haven't had the chance to check answerphone notification.
Hi Guys,
thanks for the good job you'all are doing. Will appreciate whatever help i can get to resolve this issue with my phone. I have the HTC TYTN II which i recently upgraded to WM 6.1 using the official ROM which i donwloaded from HTC website. Since then i have noticed that sometimes it seems my phone is dialing itself or a call is coming in. The funny part is though every other function is working i wont be able to answer this phone. It will seem to hang. Then after a while i will get the cprog.exe error. To be able to make phone calls i have to soft reset the phone. i have had to hard reset my phone twice already with no solution. Also googling has not been able to provide any answer too. I just sent an email to HTC Technical support now but with experience i doubt if i will get any useful response. So this is my last resort.
It is also pertinent to note here too that intermittently i do get the tmail.exe errors.
Hi,
I am having the same problem after the upgrade..frequently its becoming stoned! requiring restart many time during the day...which was not the case before...anybody has got any solution???
I love my TyTn II but not the 6.1 ..its not stable!

Azuka, who so ever upgraded to 6.1 from HTC experienced the same problem even i myself suffered the same. So your only solution is to downgrade to 6 but before doing that you must HardSPL your phone ...
Two words... bad flash.
Regardless of what you might hear about WM 6.1 being unstable/unusable, it's simple NOT TRUE. Head over to the Kaiser Wiki, read up on flashing HardSPL (really read), and then once you have HardSPL'd your phone, flash a different ROM.
But please do not make the mistake of asking for recommendations on which ROM to use. The ROM that works best for me probably will not work best for you, in terms of programs loaded and cosmetically.

Thanks for your reply. Your two words "Bad Flash" got me thinking. How could that be. I thought so too and had to re-download the file from htc website and re-installed.
About HardSPL'd your phone, from reading the wiki i now know what it is. But there is no instruction out there to HardSPL'd. Do i need to get the file and copy unto my phone or what?
thanks.
Head over to the Wiki, and under ROM Upgrading - Tools, I added an entry to HardSPL v3.xx. All the instructions needed are in that thread.

Thanks for your help for far. This is an update of where i am today and a few questions i need your help to answer:
I took my phone into the retialer where i bought and who serve as the service center for HTC here in Doha, Qatar. They re-installed the WM 6.1 OS and so far i dont have the issues i was having before. However i do experience momentary screen freezes which eases off after a few second. Right the device information is as follows:
ROM Version: 3.28.405.0 WWE
ROM date: 05/02/08
Radio Version: 1.65.17.56
Protocol Version: 25.83.40.02H
Going into the bootloader the i see the following information:
KAIS130
SPL-3.28.0000
CPLD-8
Which i believe confirms that the HardSPL is 3.28 - please correct me if i am wrong. Now my questions are as follows:
1. How do i resolve the momentary freezing?
2. Do i still need to do a HardSPL giving that mine is showing 3.28?
3. And your answer to do above is Yes which version do i need to do? 3.28 or 3.29 or even 3.56
Thank you once again.

I have the freezing issues too. Two things has helped me reduce the frequency (and improve general responsiveness of the device):
1. I've disabled the HTC task manager application - that helps a lot on responsiveness
2. Each time I soft reset the phone, I manually kill the mstli.exe process - that helps a lot on the freezing issues.
regards,
Spip
Just to share some experiences
So I have the TyTN II and I recently upgraded to the official HTC WM6.1.
I have none of these problems of screen freezing, unstable rom, etc etc etc...
However, I do suffer from occasional program error message and asks me quite a few times to send the report to microsoft.
But this only happens when I load certain third party softwares and then close them down.
I attribute this to compatibility issues with WM6.1...maybe I'm wrong. But that's what I think anyway.

You do not have HardSPL on your phone. You have SPL 3.28, which was flashed to your phone as part of the WM 6.1 upgrade. If you want to try out custom ROMs, you will still need to flash HardSPL 3.xx.
I recommend flashing HardSPL 3.56. It was ripped from an AT&T build, but seems to work great with all flavors of WM 6.1.
As for the freezing, it cannot be eliminated 100%. But with a good cooked ROM and the right HardSPL, you will rarely experience one.
I had this issue and it was just down to previous HardSPL being left at an early version (I think around 1.02) on the device and if you apply this latest HTC stock ROM update you get a bad flash and freezing especially in the threaded SMS app.
Install any HardSPL later than 3.00 then redo the ROM update and it should cure it.
Thanks guys. I just did the HardSPL 3.56 and re-installed the HTC official 6.1 ROM. So let's see how it goes.
Btw, HardSPL-ing is not as difficult as it seems though.
Right now the following is my configuration:
KAIS130
SPL-3.56.Hard
CPLD-8

Just a quick update. After HardSPL-ing my phone it worked well for sometime then the tmail.exe error surfaced. I have only had the cprog.exe error - where a call comes in and i can not answer neither can i make another call until i soft reboot - has only happened once or twice. Apart from these the phone has been working well.
Anyway i just got a reply from my earlier mail to HTC and thought i should post if here for people's information. Apparently they are aware of these issues and working on them. Read for yourselves:
New Response From [ Maha Mamer (Qatar Support (Tech)) ]
Thank you for contacting HTC Corporation Middle East Support Dear Mr. Felix First of all we are very sorry for our late reply Please, if your problem still exist with this error message, you can try one of two options. 1- go to Start> Settings> System(tab)> error reporting> and disable the error reporting option. 2- If this did not solve your problem, then you might need to get back to WM6.0 until we finish our update for the new release of WM6.1 with the new modification for our web site. Please do not hesitate to contact us back for any inquires. Please note that you could also contact us by phone on our hot lines. http://www.htc.com/mea-en/CA_Hotline.aspx?region=MEA Sincerely, thank you for choosing HTC Corporation HTC Corporation Middle East Support Team http://www.htc.com/mea-en/default.aspx
Just an observation here:
After reading somewhere on these pages that the erratic behavior of TYTN II could be due to bluetooth adapter i decided to go some days without my Motorola S9 bluetooth ear piece i am yet to experience any of the issues i had before. Could the bluetooth software for WM 6.1 be the issue?

Did you ever resolve your momentary freezing issues? I have a new TYTN II that I upgraded to WM 6.1. I used hardspl 1.0 to do that but after reading numerous posts, I loaded HArdspl 3.28. After installing hardSPL 3.28, the 5 second freezes are less frequent but happen everyday.
I am not sure where to go from here? load another HSPL? Reload '3.28.405.0 (Radio 1.65.16.25) original HTC WWE (World Wide English) ' ROM?
As you know these pauses are very annoying.

I am looking for a solution. Not using Blue tooth to use a device that costs over 600.00 just doesn't make sense to me.
Is there a ROM hardSPL combination that will give me freeze-free performance or is this an HTC problem that is not solvable. I just can't believe that every Kaiser user that has upgraded to wm 6.1 has the same issue that I have with momentary freezes that last up to 5 seconds.
Is the solution another ROM, another Hspl, another phone? Who can help me resolve this issue? Is there a better place to post this?
Thank you
Freezes and locks.
Prior to my upgrading my AT&T Tilt to WM6.1 which I did today. I was experiancing LONG freezes, listening to music or just waiting for menus. I could not determine any specific software that was the cause. I tend to install a lot. Did a hard reset, didn't install the AT&T bloat, reinstalled my primary apps MS Voice Command 1.6 (a Must). Still same issues... Occationally could NOT answer calls. Hit the green button, or the answer option on screen. the onscreen 'answer' would flash, but I could not use the phone until a soft reset. LONG process when you are waiting for a call back.
AT&T sent me a new phone which I got and installed the NEW wm 6.1 before anything. Worked pretty well, but I had not made any calls or recieved any all day. I did listen to several hours of music on my Motorola S9 headset and made sure Audible Player would work. Two apps I use daily.
All seems well, except NOW I get the cprog.exe error. I decided to test my phone with a simple incoming call. Before I ended it, it went dead. Not sure what the HardSPL is yet. Will look into that. Just thought I'd let others know that the lag, AT&T seemed to think was a hardware issue so they replaced my Tilt.
Software installed; MS Voice Command 1.6, Live Search, Audible Player, TCPMP, FlashBundle, GPSToday. Pretty much it besides the AT&T bloat that came with the ROM. Good luck
Hi,
I am having a dropped call problem.
I have a tilt and have upgraded to the ATT 6.1 ROM. It says CE OS 5.2.1622 Build 18128.0.4.4. The ROM version is 1.62.502.0 dated 1/17/08. The radio version is 1.27.14.09. The Protocol Version is 22.45.88.07H.
It seems that when the calls drop, the arrows under the "H" or the "E" are showing that the radio is trying to connect.
I have installed the tweak application and am using most of the "recommended" settings. I also have HTC home customizer but that's about it.
I also have a problem with emails where occasionally instead of opening the email I've tapped it goes to the last application.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Dave
Try the download from the htc site, for whatever reason, i think you may have a radio compatible with 6.0. So you could also try a newer radio.
Try Upgrading
Hello Dave,
By the device information you have provided, it sounds like you have the older ATT Tilt ROM Upgrade From January. The newest one, that upgrades your radio, CE Build, and Protocol, also upgrades you to wm6.1. I don't believe you have 6.1 based on your device information. You can find the Rom Upgrade here: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=67&cat=2&dl_id=94. You can also find detailed ROM Flashing Instructions if you haven't flashed before here: http://www.htc.com/uploadedFiles/Co...lt+Detailed+ROM+Installation+Instructions.pdf . FYI, if you haven't flashed before, you should remove your SIM and storage cards and disable storage card encryption before flashing and make sure that you hard reset before you flash. This update will update your radio and other device aspects that could very well solve your dropped call issues. Good luck,
-Dave
Thank you very much
Hi all,
Excuse me if apparentely it's can seems I repeat old and answred question, but sincerely I have not yet sufficentely clear ideas on how I can flash my blackstone with an updated Rom.
I want remark that I have a decent knowledge on developing a program for W.M., but I confess that after read various threads and articles about, I remained in a great confusion yet!
The question:
I have a branded (Tim) Blackstone:
BLAC100 32M
SPL-1.13.0000
MicroP-BlackStone (Led) v6
Device Info:
ROM Version 1.13.401.0 (20428)ITA
ROM Date 10/25/08
Radio Version 1.09.25.14
Protocol Version: 52.49a.25.26W
This device ABSOLUTELY need to be upgraded to the Rom 1.56 (but first of all I WANT TO UNBRAND it).
After an initial problem (caused by the unricognized S/N), I dowloaded (using another S/N) from Htc the File:
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_ITA_1.56.408.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe
To upgrade my device, I want to preserve only the country and the language, because I read that it is necessary to preserve the A-Gps funtionalities (data changes country by coutry). Is it thrue?
I understood that I can't use it, cause the Tim brand of my device.
In my case only the brand is not matching, while the language and country are apparentely matching.
(But, why the "401" of my device is not matching with the "408" of file I downloaded? Can I use the file with this unmatching country code?)
1) - I have a great confusion on SPL, HSPL, SSPL, USPL.
2) - I have a great confusion because I not understood if Radio Rom upgrade and Rom upgrade are 2 different processes or not.
3) - Is the Rom version related (developed) for a specific Hardware version (as it is logical to think)?
4) - Is the Radio rom "country sensitive"? (As I think that each country have a different GSM Net).
5) - If want upgrade both radio and rom, what instrument exactely I need?
Please can you clear my ideas.... and doubts?
Thanks
Ignazio
Ok, you have managed to get an official HTC rom, you can also find some more here
If you use HSPL or USPL, this will allow you to flash the new rom. If you are intending on staying on the official rom, uspl will probably be the best option for you to use.
In response to your questions:
1) SPL - Second Program Loader is a boot loader after IPL (Initial Program Loader) often seen on smart phones and PDA's. SPL is similar to a BIOS in a computer and can be flashed and updated.
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
* HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
* USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.
* SSPL is just another method of getting to change the spl and is only really needed if you experience problems using one of the other methods.
Hopefully this makes it a little clearer for you.
2) It depends. The radio is in most cases included in the rom. The rom you are looking to use included a radio. This is shown by the 1.13.25.24 in the name of your rom, so if you install that rom it will also update the radio in a single process. You can however also only upgrade the radio and then it is done as a separate process and will not affect the rom.
3) All the roms are initially developed for a particular hardware configuration I would imagine, but there are many fantastic chefs here on xda who take roms meant for other devices and are able to port some of the components to a cooked rom which can then be used on a number of different devices.
4) Yes, radios are country and area sensitive, so what works well for one person in a particular area would possibly not work as well for you.
5) You will need to use either hspl or uspl in order to upgrade your radio (if you are using one intended for an HTC). Some people have taken radios from other devices such as the Omnia, but in order to flash these radios you need to do a security unlock of your device and there are special tools that allow you to do this, but this is really only a last resort if you can't find an HTC radio that works for you.
The steps to follow in order to flash are described in the Dummies Guide to Flashing (see link in my signature) and if you have any further questions, please ask them in that thread.

Read the Dummies Guide (link in my signature). If you have any more queries please post them in that thread as this one is likely to be closed down soon.
ROMS are a personal thing, so have a look at a few and read some of the more popular threads (ie the ones that keep popping to the top) and depending on the feedback received from users make a choice. Once you've flashed once it becomes addictive and you'll try a few before you find one that suits you.
another thing
after i follow all the steps from there all roms should work..after that finnishing them i start that rom update launcher that comes with every rom?
