are you looking to put them back on the device or just back them up?
If you are looking just to back them up then visit 1800message.com and download their app, it will allow you to back up your sms, mms, pics, call list, etc and store them online!

You will not be able to back-up your messages & contacts on a 2.x Rom and then restore them on a 3.x Rom currently. The Database structure has changed and as of now there isn't a Backup utility that translates from one to the other.

Kyphr is correct. But FYI spb backup considers sms as emails and will back them up.
Hey guys just had a couple of questions, I flashed the stock kf1 on both mine and my brothers captivate. I was on stock froyo and he was on stock eclair. i followed nakedninja's guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127209. On my captivate i had used TB to restore my contacts data and on his i restored contacts data using the export feature in the contacts app. I also rooted mine using the guide and i left his unrooted. The problem is both he and I have the same problem where we will receive an incoming call but the phone does nothing but stay at either the home screen or what ever screen that you are currently on and just play the ring tone. There is no option of answering the call. I have to wait until the call ends for it to tell me that I had a missed call by so and so. Then I can manually bring up the dialer and call that person back. Also when I do get the notification at the top for the missed call, usually I can just click on the name and the phone will take me to the call log of that contact and all i have to do is tap the contact and it will make the call. But on gingerbread when i use the notification bar at the top to check the missed call and if I tap that name to call, it will not call that contact it will call the last person that was in the general call log which is weird. any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
Can I reinstall maybe just the dialer or just the contacts menu or which ever one that is causing the problem? if so do i just add the apk to my phone and install or is there a different way?
Thanks
hmm.. 124 views and not one reply. if nobody has heard of this problem than can anyone who knows about reinstalling just certain apk's let me know if i can wipe the dialer and contact apks somehow and reinstall them. I am assuming the problem is coming from the apps themselves and thinking if i could just reinstall them without having to re-flash the whole phone that it might fix it.
Thanks

Dunno what the export feature in the contacts app is, but I never restore my contacts. After I sign in to my google account my contacts are being synced automatically. Maybe restoring contacts is the problem.

i think u shd reflash the rom again...clear cache..factory reset..and format internal sd card after and before flash...
just give it a try..might solve ur issue...trying wont hurt
wow sorry guys did not see that you guys had responded. stangri, killer_raj, thanks for your tips I'm going to give that a try and see what happens. i was wondering though, since i already have flashed the gingerbread bootloaders and dont want to flash them again, can i just do a master clear and then reflash just the rom using odin? if so which option do i check in odin? do i uncheck everything and only check one thing? is it the PDA, Phone, or csc option?
Thanks again
If you want to flash with Odin stock KF1 without bootloaders I recommend using this.
Downloaded. thanks prbassplayer.
i will give this a try a little later. a couple of other people are having the same exact problem as i am here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204823 ill let them know about this thread.

and yes restoring data & apps from tibu is cause of forceclose and freeze and lot of times...
not all the time..and when u know what u r doing...so just see after the fresh install everythin works fine..then dont use tibu...
the best n the cleanest..safest way of restroing contats and sms..which i always use...
from contacts..import/export...and export to sd card..u wil hav just one vcf file..having all ur contacts in it..so u can even copy that to ur comp for future use....and restore later when u done flashin..
and smsbackup and restore app by ritesh sahu in market..its free..and it makes a backup on ur internal sd..so copy it to comp or to external sd after taking backup...later after install put that back on internal sd..and install app and restore ur sms...
and i dont use tibu to restore my apps..i always hav the apk's i use ..so i fresh install after the flash...or i download them again from market..so i never had any freeze/forceclose problem ..after any new rom flashin...
replied the same in that otehr thread as well...

Did you do a nanodroid backup? If yes, then flash it.
If no, just reflash the ROM.
First off, I know that I need Sense for my HTC One to be compatible with HTC Sync Manager. That's not the issue. The issue is that I backed everything up with HTC Sync and now there is no way to get all that stuff back onto my HTC One without having Sense. Furthermore, I had to reinstall HTC Sync Manager several times to get it to work and in the process it had erased my back up and I tried doing a system restore, but the drive that my back up was on was set to not save restore points. I downloaded a recovery program and was able to recover 80-90% of the files. The issue is that I still have no way, to my understanding, of putting them back on my phone or even opening them as they are all encrypted. Or whatever it is that HTC Sync Manager does to files when it backs them up. So you can see the predicament I'm in and it's not a favorable one.
Lastly, I'm beginning to regret doing this and it's making me feel terrible.
Please, if anyone can help I would be so relieved.

I have the same problem and I cannot get my back up files back.
Once you can do it please let me know , thanks
Hi guys,
I have just rooted my HTC One M7, which previously upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.2.
However, the problem turns out when I tried to restore my backup.ab file (around 600 MB) and it said "restoration ended" as soon as "com.android.providers.contacts" appeared so I couldn't back up any of my data.
I tried to unroot and used RUU to flash my HTC back to stock, but the same thing happened and I couldn't process my backup through the "com.android.provider.contacts". Searched forums and internet but there is no clear and feasible solution for this.
Could anyone help me to save my data since I don't want to lose my contacts and photos in the file (the games are not so important). Please help, thank you very much in advance.
Any help pls?
