I don't understand what you want? Is there a problem with your phone?
when i plug my headphones in the icon does not appear on the screen like it use to
They are working right? I don't see a problem then.
Try plugging the headphones in and out a couple of times, there are many with the same problem, also there are allot of topics about it!
an icon suppose to appear???? lol this is new to me, i have never seen an earphone icon...and i listen to music like 3-4 times a day

are you on custom rom with custom taskbar? try to install back the stock taskbar icons
That happens because when you put the jack you block the piece of plastic that makes the contact.
Try put and take out the jack several times, if not work, go to SE service.
My X1 have that problem and the SE give me a new phone lol.

YES I've searched for this problem, IDK if I didn't use the correct keywords. Didn't find what I needed.
Anyways, day before yesterday people have said they couldn't hear me on their end talking to me. I ONLY use the handset- the actual phone, no headset Weird. I haven't made any new settings changes. No water has contacted my phone. Hmm...
Well today, NOTHING can be heard. I mean NOTHING. So I decided to try the notes thing and use the recorder and it just does the buzzing noise. Is my phone slowly dying? First the screen blacks out when the keyboard slides out, now this? Fun.
Would anyone know what could cause this or how to fix it? IDK when I'd be able to get to the only place that can fix my poor sick X1i . I know it's not the ppl on the other end b/c its more than one person, etc. And I did ANOTHER hard reset. Still acting up.
I have to retreat back to using my ATT Quickfire for now until I get my phone fixed. Shame, spend 600$+ on a phone and it doesn't work.
I have the same problem. My X1 has been fallen a few times and I don't know if that is the reason for this problem?
Same here
My microphone doesn't work and the screen goes crazy when I open the keyboard. I think I will try to disassemble the phone and see if there is something disconnected.
thats weird, i have the same problem... well it started two weeks back when people started complaining that my voice was too soft when talking on the phone. and just this morning i "slided" the keyboard out and suddenly the screen goes blank.
im goin to try downgrading to R2 rom. im using the latest from SE atm.
hi everyone
i took apart my x1 yesterday to replace a faulty flex/ribbon cable that was causing my screen to go off when the phone was open. i thought everything was fine as my screen is now fixed, however i answered a call this morning and had no sound. the person at the other end could hear me but i could not hear them. i was also unable to hear my voicemail when trying that this morning too
it seems strange as well because sound effects etc are working on the phone if it is not on silent and my i could hear my alarm no problem this morning.
does anybody have an idea what may be causing this? im sure i plugged everything in as i followed tutorial videos strictly but maybe i did miss something or not plug in something fully. i changed the housing as well if that makes a difference?
thanks
Probably a loose connection for the internal/in-call speaker. Might have dislodged it when you took it apart.
i'm having this eact same problem and will now have to take apart my xperia for about the tenth time -.-

Hi there,
I have just taken my xperia apart and im pretty sure i figured out the problem. If you replace the flex cable for the screen etc, you need to make sure that you take off the internal call speaker from the old cable and put it onto the new one. its literally a small black square that goes into the top connector of the ribbon cable. this is something i never noticed when replacing the cable and so thats why i had no sound in calls. have yet to put the phone back together but im pretty certain this is the issue.
update - edit*
Have tested the phone now and it was indeed the problem mentioned in my last post. Looking back, i can't believe i overlooked the internal call speaker and not realised it was still attached to the old ribbon cable.
Thanks to harveydent for pointing me in the right direction. hope this is some help to you kissiman and anyone else who may have done the same
Oh man, thank you for this post!!! I just took my phone apart and put a new black housing and noticed the same issue. I'm going to try to fix my phone ASAP. Thanks for the advice!!!
Taking a look at the black piece you had mentioned, I realized that it may be the camera part of the phone. Well, I'm making sure I have all the connections connected and putting it all back together now. Hopefully it works this time!!!
Hey all,
So here's what i did. I've been running perception 9.5 for a long time now with no issues until today.
I went to change my ringtone and i was selecting different ones to hear, then all of a sudden everything went quiet. I plugged the phone into the computer and the sound came back for a bit but then it went away after i tried to change the ringtone again.
Now i flashed serendipity 3.0, thinking that maybe perception borked on me, yet i still have no sound.
Any help would be great =)
Try pulling the battery cover and pressing firmly on the speaker when it occurs.. If it fixes it your speaker is coming loose at connection.

Thanks soo much for the reply =)
I did what you said, both when i knew there was no sound and when i set an alarm. I'm not quite sure if the alarm is what retriggered the sound, or if it was pressing the speaker but my sound appears to work again =)
Thanks so much!
Hey,

It's a hardware problem, so I think the best fix would be to exchange it for a new one through your local AT&T store or an AT&T warranty center.
Sorry to keep brining this up.
It seems like my sound only cuts out when sound is being played (naturally). But if i press the app draw icon to make that little pop noise over and over, the sound doesn't seem to cut out. If i talk on the phone, or play a ringtone it does.
Maybe it's software for me?
Could be. You try rebooting yet? Other than that I guess the only way to know would be reflash the rom or go back to stock and test.

Hi, i have an issue with my phone... I was texting then suddely the slideout keyboard started malfuctioning
The space, function, ****/caps and the period wont work. Also the two softkeys wont work... All the other keys work fine, and the weird thing is, when I press shift+backspace and function+enter it types "mx"
I hope its a software problem cuz right now I dont have money to get it checked out and its an old phone so theres no warranty to use
Thanks!

This did not work AT ALL. In fact, it apparently disabled ALL of the keys from both keyboards and I had to do ANOTHER hard reset. I couldn't even turn the phone off, had to remove the bat to do it...
I opened the back of the phone and removed the case... I removed the circuit board and I looked around... Everything seemed fine but my slideout keyboard still doesnt work
Do you think it could be a problem with the keyboard or maybe something got disconnected or something?
Please help, i dont have any money to get it fixed
Hi ramsfan
Sadly the problem is most likely the flat ribbon cable that connects the k/b to the c/b
i have seen a lot of htc phones having k/b and screen failures because of cheap a ribbon cable that is expected to be able to slip and slide hundreds and hundreds of times but will not.
You can try opening it back up and pull the connector at each end of the smaller (of the two) gold ribbon cables.
rarely (very rarely) cleaning and reseating connectors works , at first use a cleaned or new toothbrush, if that doesn't work dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the toothbrush,
Hope this works for you, if not you will need a new cable, then i suggest you stop using the slide out k/b because your video cable is next on the failure list and with most htc slide phones the video cable comes attatched to a pretty, clean and new display screen.

I swear there is a setting to keep the screen on while charging or docked but I cannot find it.
It would logically be under settings/display but its not.
Running CM7 latest nightly currently, and I swear I have seen the option, although maybe on a different Rom?.
I want to keep the screen from timing out while in my car dock. It stays on with CarHome Ultra but if I get a call the screen times out and then wont go back to to CarHome.
Any suggestions?

Settings / Application / Development. Now if you want to know why it is there instead of display, that one I can't answer
Thank you! I knew I had seen it someplace.
Applications certainly does seem an odd place for it.
sent from XDA app
i FOUND THE solution i have exactly the same problem 2 days i tried resetting , formating, hard reset, even rooting to diffrent rooms the problem was never solved .
i had following problem
1. the phone will automatically swtich to docking, its annoying
2.some time i got old galaxy s 1 home screen
3. when i put a battery it will show its charging which im not charging and will pop a msg high volage, also.
its not a software issue which ibelieve but the USB hub under your phone, due having contacts with moisture new phones wont have this problem, im not saying u guys may had dipped ur phone, but having ur phone in ur pocket or sweat is 1st problem and having a bath and ur phone is in toilet,
HERE IS THE SOLUTION
get a alocohol from pharmacy and wool, get a tooth pick put the small cotton at the head and run ur usb HUB rema phone has to be off take batt out, after cleaning u will see the USB hub is clean alot of dirt removed, then wait 5-10 min to dry never plug charger or else u will pay for ur mistake, after 10min turn ur phone on it will be total fine.
ITS THE DIRT WHICH IS STICK ON PIN 4-5 making Problem.
i hope it can help tht how it work for me
