8gb on touch viva ? - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

hi to all
i wanna buy 8gb micro sd card .... just wanna be sure if that gonna wok on htc touch viva (opal)
thanks in advanced

i'm using a Ridata 8GB on my Viva.

I use 8 Gib SandDisk
I think opal supports SDHC.. and supports up to 32 Gib!

I am using Nokia 8GB Micro SDHC, no problem at all.

Any 8GB card would work fine, no slow speeds, no access problems... in fact, I recommend installing nothing less than 8 GB
And yes, use homescreen to overclock to 247, then you will really like your phone

thank you guys rly helped thanks again

What does that overclocking mean? And how you do that if you don't use homescreen? What is the benefit?

I use a SanDisk 8gb card, very well!

I am using 8 gb non branded micro SHDC card with no problem.
I bought it for like 900/- Indian rupee with 1 year waranty. It's Made In Japan.
Dont forget to format it using NTFS or FAT rather than fat32 for better speed. If you format it using fat32, you'll not be able to copy single iso of 3 gb etc.

Are you sure that your card is not a sdhc card? The card will never work. But if it is a normal sd card you should try to format with fat 16.
I believe all 4gb micro cards are sdhc cards.

Try to use the microSD-adapter of the 2GB card, which worked in that combination, together with the 4GB card.
Don't know, might work, if there is a prob with the adapter.
hey all u guys i wanna clear u that fat(fat16) can address only upto 2 gb so none of ur 4 gb card get formatted as fat16. u need to faormat it using fat32. And himalya's hardware does not support fat32 addressing.
Few months back i hv also purchased a 4gb non sdhc card and a 8gb non sdhc card but none of them work on hima. by diffrent formatting method i hv managed to get 4gb on hima but I was not able to access any file which i hv putted after 2gb of memory so rest 2gb are useless.
and My prophet g4 can access both the cards but most of time i hv to face a lot of card errors and need format the card to avoid them.
Final result
DONT BUY LARGE CAPACITY CARDS UNTIL THEY R SDHC CAUSE FAT16 CANT ADDRESS THEM.
Oops!

Sorry for this but i m pretty sure that u will report the bugs soon. CAUSE
no body here think that y all memory master company like Sandisk, kingston, transcend etc. do not manufacture the 4gb sd card instead of 4gb sdhc.
AND if someone found any non sdhc card above 2gb from these companies plz ask the retailer for WARRANTY as 3 or 5 years and try to register the card on site. u will know the fact.

[Q] can I change the 8gb micros sd card for a 16gb ?

Hi, I want a HTC HD7 but 8Gb are too little for me. I learned that we could change the micro sd card and i want to know if we can change this card with a card with more capacity. Thanks.
I believe that you can but the card have to be class 2 for it to work
Ok, thanks you and is anybody tried this ?

Yes, but Windows Phone 7 devices require you to open them because most of the devices do not allow swapping of memory so easily.

Yes I know, I have watched a video. I just want to know if it's possible or not and if anybody tried this ?
yep tried it. had 13 random cards 1 traveler, 1 hama and the rest were sandisk from 2 to 32 gb. all of them worked.
but attention: just look out for a friend with a symbian phone because this is the only way to reformat this cards if they dont work in the hd7!!!
and please dont do it if you just want a 16 gb hd7. only change the card if you dont have enough space on it.
you also have to hard reset the phone!
and mybee there are problems with the warranty!!!!

Hi I have a HTC HD 7 on O2 UK and it came with a 14gb memory....
Hello, I am not trying to troll or be rude. How is 8gb to little?
Alot of music/video?
Or are the applications doing it?
I order an 8GB venue pro and immediately regretted it so I was wondering.
because of this i wrote "and please dont do it if you just want a 16 gb hd7. only change the card if you dont have enough space on it."

i thought the hd7 doesnt have a card slot :/

Hence, I said yes. Pay attention
You can swap memory with any Windows Phone 7 device. Some are difficult then others and you void warranty. Also once you switch memory, you need to perform (as a person stated before me) a hard reset.

not with any wp7 device!

UPDATE: 64GB micro SDXC card DOES work in LG Optimus 2x

Hi,
I tested 64GB mircro SDXC in my LG 2x (Modaco rom Gr6 and HP 2x kernel RC12-R) and it DOES NOT work
I was able to format the card to FAT32 in the phone, but when I try to mount it, the phone restarts itself.
If anyone else has different experience, please share.
BTW the card is SDSDQY-064G-U46A
UPDATE:
I managed to fix it. I'm not sure which steps were actually necessary but just to be sure I list them all.
First I tried NicomUA's idea of splitting the patritions in two 32GB. For that I used Paragon Partition Manager 11 Free. And IT WORKED! I made two partitions. I was able to access the first one in the phone, but I could not format or edit the second one neither in the PPM anymore.
So I used SDFormatter 3.1 and reformated the card into its original state with option "Format size adjustment".
Then I checked the partition structure again in PPM. It was exFAT, but with 16MB free space at the beginning.
I formated it to FAT 32 and resized it to 32GB (Now I made only one partition and left the rest of the space unallocated). It worked in the phone.
So I tried to resize the partion to see how far I can go. 32GB worked in my phone. 33GB worked in my phone! And suddenly whole 64GB worked in my phone!!!
I filled the card with movies and music to the max and tested if I can really access the content and YES, I was able to play anything on the card!

Try to make one 31Gb(or less then 32Gb) partition on SD card. It can start work.
Not made for SCXC
i dont think making 2 partition will work ,the SD card reader is made for SHHC (high capacity ) not for SDXC (Xtrem capactity ) ,so i thing it's a hardware problem

it says it performs even worse than a class 2 sdhc card in random 4k write speed
So, what would you advice should I buy 64 Gb or a 32 Gb Class 10???
Thanx in advance
Oh boy! Gotta try it out.. 64 grams is impressive..
I would prefer the 32gb class 10 for the speed... also 32gb is plenty of room to fill... class 2 is very low speed and could interfere with the recording of videos for example in 1080p... I think...
Cheers
wow that's great news. thnx.

I think m gonna wait for a month as my exams are round the corner..
but i'll definetely buy a sandisk mobile ultra as it has the best benchmarks
B/w Has anyone else got or tried the 64 GB card in optimus 2x??? Plz reply guyz...

Anybody besides the OP has managed to do this ? I've tried for weeks, I give up.
Used two cards, both SDXC 64GB, the SanDisk Ultra Mobile and a no-brand one from Amazon.
I used two different Optimus 2X, one running CM7, another running CM9.
The cards can't be formatted in the phones, they are simply not recognized at all.
I formatted them in Linux and Mac OS X, always FAT32, and always made a partition smaller than 32GB first, then tried ExFAT, full or bigger partitions, unallocated space in part or all, anything really. Nothing works.
Edit : the cards are fine, I can use then in Macs, PCs, DSLR and even a Galaxy Note. No problem.
Any ideas ? I'd think it's just not possible and the O2X hardware doesn't support SDXC, just SDHC, that's why I'm asking if anyone else can comment.

I have a corrupted new 64 GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10.
My advice is make a full search here in General and Q&A threads about SD Cards before buying, because a great number of Xperia users are unhappy with their incompatible / corrupted SD Cards, especially the SanDisk ones.
Definitely Sandisk (the ultra)I use them in all xperias, no issue so far altought I don't use the 64Go it's too big for my use, 32Go is enough.
http://www.myshopping.com.au/ZM--12...IA_Type_HD_32GB_microSDHC_UHS_I_Card_Class_10
Based on my experience, here is the rank I suggest:
1) Sandisk 2) Toshiba 3) Kingston 4) Transcend
...and I also strongly suggest, only choose between Sandisk and Toshiba.
Am currently using a Sandisk 64GB on my Z for media like songs and videos, which I carried along from my Note (my very first android; then followed by Ion / V / TX) since day one, and a 32GB one for Titanium's and NAND backups. Both never encounter any problem... so far.

Put it straight in the phone and it will do it all for you.
When I bought my Sandisk 32GB and 64GB, both were formated with FAT32 out of the box.
Problem with FAT32 is that it won't support over 4GB a file.
If you have no intention to put over 4GB a file (like video) onto the card, you can just leave it as is and use it right away without doing anything.
If you're planning to put over 4GB a file onto the card, format it with exFAT with you computer by using a card adapter. XZ can read exFAT natively since 4.2.2.
You can also format your card with NTFS. Like exFAT, it also supports over 4GB a file. However, XZ can't read this file system thus you need to root and install a third party app like "Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+" in order to read.
My suggestion is, use exFAT, since it's more versatile, and is natively supported.

I had the choice between a superfast 32gb sdcard(sandisk extreme 80mb/S) and a normal 64gb card so I took the 32gb card simply because I hate to wait on the progress bar when moving things.
So would exFAT support also apply on a 32gb card? I mean it should right?

Did you check the speed of that card and the transfer rate that Z1 supports?
I want to buy a Sandisk but I don't know whether to buy Extreme (80Mb/sec read/50MB/sec write) or Extreme Pro (95Mb/sec read/90MB/sec write)
can somebody with a high speed microSD card measure the transfer rate with "SD Tools" for example and post here?
thnaks
Https://skydrive.live.com/redir?res...uthkey=!AGOshRlItDWMCB4&v=3&ithint=photo,.png
Ran a quick test and both write and read is around 40mb/s on my SanDisk Extreme 32gb card. An extreme pro card would do difference if you connect it to pcs alot.
I'm on my phone so sorry for not being able to embed the pic, open the link
The card supports 80MB/sec read and 50MB/sec write, so according to your post, if the trasfer read/write rate is 40MB/sec, maybe there is a limit of 40MB/sec on SD card slot of Z1.
Thanks a lot my friend, you covered me.[

From what I gathered from that app pretty much so. The limit seems to sit at 40/40mb which is pretty fast actually in my opinion - I already knew that there was no way that I could reach 80-90mb/s in reading speed but I did think that 30-35mb/s would be maximum.
But as I said, if you transfer over large files from a usb 3.0 connected sd card reader from your PC time will fly by with this card. because the write speed is excellent!

So the Sandisk Extreme 45MB/sec read/write will be ok with the device, no reason to buy to more expensive 80MB/sec
I got a Kingston 64 gig microSDXC (so-called 'class 10'), works fine. read/write is 35 & 15 mb/sec, respectively.
yes i test and work
It works for me too! Too bad you can't install apps on it without root access.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my new Xperia Z1.
I tried two different micro SD cards, one of 64gb and the other 8gb.
When I transfer music using Media Go, most of it can't be played or fast forwards(damaged files).
Photos I took were deleted a short while afterwards, others were damaged and could not be viewed.
Works like a charm for me:good:
