OK, this ide was stolen from a guy at the norwegian forum www.windowsmobile.no: Can't somebody who knows what they're doing program a small app that can be set to turn on BT and WLAN whenever the unit is turned on? Then I'd be very happy, at least!
may be this tool can help?
http://oz.sciox.org/ozbt.html
Wow! At first glance it seems to work! I'll have to turn off the unit for a longer time and see if it still works. I'll know in the morning...it's been along night. Election night in Norway.
I think this does work but like Mastiff says I am going to leave off my SX66 for a bit.
If this does work, this needs to be added as a patch?
I am pretty sure this is working for my SX66.
I first manually turned off Wireless and Bluetooth. Then restarted my PDA, which both Wireless and Bluetooth where off when it was done booting. I then went into ozBT and changed Wireless/BT from Default On to Defaul Off.
I was then going to restart the PDA but before I could Wireless and BT popped on!
I also turned off my PDA for a bit and Bluetooth was off - then it turned it's self back on.
Nice!
Someone needs to invite this guy over here and get him on the staff!
Why would you want BT and Wifi turned on everytime you switched on your PPC? Wouldnt that kill the battery? Every time you soft reset, turn on to check email, etc. Can someone explain what this achieves?
Myself I do not want WiFi on but I do for Bluetooth, since I use a BT Headset all the time.
First of all this doesn't work very well at all for me. On my Qtek 9090 this has unforseen side effects for WiFi, so I have gone back on it. It doesn't log into my default network at once, like it does when I turn it on manually. Instead it either tries to log on to the other WiFi network I have in my house (don't ask), even though that's weaker and MAC blocked for the unit. And if it doesn't find that, it just stays on "searching". And even when searching it don't show the WiFi icon, it shows the GPRS icon all the time. So for my unit this is a dead end. If anybody else tries this and doesn't have problems, I will have to do a hard reset and see if it's some kind of third party program that creates this problem.
Second, I want them on like I always have had them on with my four last PPCs since I have a wireless network both in my house and in my car, and I control music, lights and a lot of other stuff in the house and music in the car with it. Besides when I'm driving I always use TomTom to warn me of speed cams. And I have charging in both my cars, on both my motorbikes and in my home office (I run a translating business from home). So I'm never far away from charging and never have problems with the battery, and finally I use WiFi a lot more than I use the phone part, with NetRemote controlling the house, and surfing.
where is the file
where is the program can be found.
http://oz.sciox.org/ozbt.html
But no my system it's trying to connect to the wrong network every time. If I turn on the WLAN manually I don't have that problem at all, it connects to the default. I'm starting to think that the program forces the driver to check for the default network to early, before the network card is ready, then gives up on that and start looking for other networks a few seconds later, which is when the network card really is ready to connect.
not sure whats up, i can connect to the internet, receive emails, but my msn messenger wont connect, any ideas guys?
Do you mean when the device is cradled to the com? or when you are using it on the road? If it is cradled, the port that MSN messenger might be blocked by your firewall.

you must tell us about where you are and the condition whene you connect to the internet. for example you try to connect by GPRS, to PC ADSL by sync or by Wifi..then we will tell you fix that mistake.
geeman, if it is the MSN Messenger that came installed with your PPC, you'll need to download the update from the Messenger website below. You might also want to take a look into alternative messaging programs like Agile Messenger (free) and IM+ (expensive)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/msnmessenger/pocketpc.mspx
I dunno about anybody else, but I've never had to update my XDA's MSN Messenger - it's always worked fine when used via wifi.
When I first tried connecting with MSN Messenger on WiFi, Messenger itself would throw back an error. After I updated it from the link above, it connected fine.
I'm looking forward to the Live Messenger update.
(I think we should both stop posting and go to bed, Chris, since it is 2:30am)
You beat me to the last post of the night there, I'd just gone to bed at 2:30am - I had work at 6am! :X
Interesting that you got errors... Granted, the last time I used Messenger over wifi was back in April, but I doubt that that small time gap would be the determining factor for it stopping working?
Hmm, I must go hook my phone up to our in-house wifi and see if I can get online.
When I can be bothered.
my msnmsgr exp
Connect via cradle to PC = Works perfect
Conect via GPRS = Doesn't work
Connect Via WiFi = Doesn't work (wrong port for MSNMsgr)
:'(
Check your Proxy Settings. Make sure Use Proxy is not selected.
Has anyone seen this? I just installed the 15 day trial and it seems pretty stable.

Also the only way I found the apk was through the site. I havent found it on the Market yet...
checking this out now. i like it so far. HiAIM is nice, but i dont like chat bubbles plus this will let me on all of the rest of the services too, it's like trillian for android.
I can't seem to connect to it, my AIM just sits at "Authenticating..." for ever
You know it was working perfectly for me at first. Now its doing the same thing you describe.
Ugh. Why cant we find ONE im app that stays connected?

Actually, the latest update has been working amazingly well.
Bu I'm gonna check this one out as well.
Actually, forget that.
$11,- for a chat app?
hahahahahahahaha.
I prefer Palringo myself. Does all those except ICQ and Jabber I beleive.

Meebo build 15 keeps you on now and auto-reconnects. It will also notify you if it is unable to reconnect due to no data (edge/3g/wifi).
I'll give this a run.
After running Mundu for the trial period, I decided not to buy it. It disconnects way too often and when it does, it will stick at "Authenticating..." until I force close the app and restart it. It's too bad, I really love the interface and has all that I am looking for but I need AIM to stay connected.
I e-mailed support and of course they blame my connection. But here I am using HiAIM and it doesn't disconnect, EVER. I guess I'll have to live with the lack of great interface/options in HiAIM.
I see someone never mentioned ebuddy or buddymob both are great IM applications and buddymob have yet to log me out unless i make a phone call or incoming call, which leave me wondering if it does that to every IM application out there?

If you're on Edge, you lose data connecton during phone calls. If you're connected via 3g or wifi, your IM connection wouldn't drop. I use both Hello IM! and Meebo (not at the same time) and both of them rarely log me off because I'm either on wifi or 3g connection.

Are you sure you aren't losing connection and it is reconnecting? People told me Palringo wouldnt disconnect for them, but testing it I found it disconnected quite frequently and was just fast to reconnect. Definitely a turn off for your friends that have you on a buddy list

I do have 3G on my cell but yet it logs off and reconnects after the conversation ends.

Yes infact it really does annoys and i noticed my friend logged in and out because of it. I noticed it reconnected because of the notification bar, does HI IM have one?

Have one what? HiAIM does not disconnect me at all (unless I am on a call, not it's fault though). I tested this by keeping an IM open with my cell phone's AIM screen name and no notices of sign off/on. I did this same thing with Palringo and would see it reconnect every few minutes.
It sucks because I like the Mundu interface, but I can't find anything as stable as HiAIM. Maybe I'll dust off my programming knowledge and try to create something on my own that will have a customizable interface as well as a stable connection

Well the customization doesnt sound half bad so people can find their own colours, but im going to test out the connection thru every messenger connection.
IM
I use meebo and it has always been stable, the autostart and UI works well. Plus its free.
Does anyone know exactly what is causing this problem because it continues to happen across different ROMs and different Radios. Is there some fundamental reason why the X1 can't maintain a connection with IM clients?
I'm on T-mobile in the UK and running the valkyrie_V3 WWE ROM. Windows live messenger will disconnect if i put the phone into standby for as little as a minute and sometimes even when I'm in the middle of messaging. I keep getting messages saying "wireless connection not available trying to reconnect" or something similar.
I've tried IM+ and while that doesn't give disconnection messages it's doing the same thing as i have tested it using different accounts.
I can't get ebuddy working on this ROM because it won't let me enter the password for some odd reason but that has had the same problem with other ROMS in the past.
Has anyone found a solution to this or is it something to do with T-mobile settings?
I should point out that throughout all this i maintain a good signal of at least 2 bars and according to the phone the data connection hasn't dropped.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
i used to use AOL's own mobile-based IM/chat client for AIM, and it always kept me connected without problems no matter what. only problem was it was INSANELY slow.
i've switched to slick, which i'm not crazy about, and i'm having the same problems as you. i'll randomly get disconnected with the phone sitting with full HSDPA reception, not going into sleep or standby....i thought it was just slick's crappy programming
Which network are you on?
Also are you 100% sure AOL used to stay connected because i thought the same thing about IM+ but a lot of my messages weren't getting returned. I signed into 2 different accounts, one on PC one on phone to test and it turned out the same thing was happening just not as obviously.
This is really frustrating, my old K800i used to stay connected to windows live for days at a time, my friends blackberry also has no trouble staying connected.
i too have the same problem, we need the xda gurus to fix this, hopefully they would be able to do so in the near future

pretty sure it was connected constantly. i had some pretty lengthy text sessions and i never got any error messages (IM not received, user not on, signed off, etc). i mean, i can never be 100% sure, but pretty sure. i only used it fo ra couple weeks before getting rid of it, it was creeping death slow for some reason
I'm too really desperate for a solution to this problem. My device is a HTC Touch Pro2 running Windows Mobile 6.5.
The case is that I will launch a new business site in just a few weeks whos customers are for the biggest part young intellectuals more often than seldomly really integrated with the modern IT-development. Hence I've always wanted to add the Windows Live messenger plugin to the site so that our customers can have a live chat completly anonymously without having their IP traced and logged which is the case for the markets paid services. Furthermore, the msn live plugin is completly ad free and doesn't cost a penny. The paid services out there that other corporations use for their live chat often comes with an URL to the host even though the customer are paying for their live chat module. The most important part though, is that I can bring with me Windows Live Messenger wherever I go which for the most part is a complex and not even that usual solution in the paid service segment. I think you can understand my problem now =) I'm just desperate to have my live messenger in the phone ALWAYS and ALWAYS stay connected.
For an example of the plugin I'm refering too have a look at my personal website:
martinandersson.com
A little more specific information describing what really happens with my device:
Windows Live version: 10.7.0061.0500.2000. Language: Swedish (Also the language of my OS).
I am running the client non-exclusivly. It always stays in the taskbar and never quit on me unlike what happens to programs that stay open running in the background for a longer period of time. In that way, it works great.
The main Windows Live window's (which are displayed and runned as a seperate program) options/settings are set to sync my e-mail although the frequency are set to "manual" and the other options below this drop box are for some reason greyed out. I guess this has to be interpreted as if live doesn't sync my mail at all, which I like being that I do not have an hotmail account or need this feature in any way.
The status of my phone always always show two small 3G icons (one just '3G' and one '3G' above a meter) and if I click in this field I see a ticking clock which shows that it is indeed connected to internet ever since my phone's last reboot. This has never been in any other way. Still, I did download the DiamondTweak and enabled the "internet always on" feature, but again, I do not think that really was the issue and from what I can tell, the DiamondTweak just hasn't made any difference at all.
One detail of great importance is this; Whenever I browse the internet, update my rss feeds or switch to the messenger contact list window through the taskbar, the 3G symbols changes to display an H. That tells me that this "H" must show for the phone to have a "real" internet connection? Could this be the trick, one has to find a fix to always have the H show? If that would be the case, I just can't understand why the phone says it is indeed connected to the internet when there's just a 3G-symbol in the status. Anyways..
Even though the messenger dies completly and just as what this threads owner wrote, shows a "wireless connection lost" message when I swich to its contact list window, it sometimes live for quite a while. The thing is that it just doesn't get the message instantly. The phone can be in standby mode (really haven't figured that thing out, everybody keeps saying "standby" mode but for what I can tell all that happens is that the display goes of) for sure, and then I write myself a message through the live chat plugin on my site but it takes about 6 to 10 minutes for the phone to give a sound and notice me of this message. And again, for the most part the live messenger doesn't stay alive for that long, the sites plugin goes offline and then if I turn the phone's display on and access the live messenger it says that the wireless connection has been lost and reconnects.
Moreoever, it never gets my plugin to go back online either. For that part to happen, I have to first get online with a desktop client and then again login with my phone. For if I stay online with the desktop client, the phone's client is indeed alive, but won't receive any messages. I have to reconnect with my phone so that my desktop client gets thrown out. But of course, is just a matter of time before my live chat module and my phone's client gets offline and I have to do everything over again. The really annoying part is that the phone's client dies a long time before the site's plugin catch up and goes offline. Hence I might loose a lot of customers who think they are chatting with me but never get a reply.
Given the description above, I think the problem really is that live messenger doesn't ping or talk with its server that often, IF the phone is in standby mode. If it isn't, if the display is turned on, I recieve my messages instantly and everything works just fine. Sure there must be an easy fix for this problem, a small edit to be done in a config file somewhere?
All help and all problem experience is much appreciated.
after updating my lumia 625 to WP 8.1 beta im having notification problems with both viber and whats app... it seems like when my phone is locked it kind of goes into deep sleep and never gives any notifications for viber and whats app... after unlocking my phone i could sometimes see rush of notifications all at onece.. and sometimes i have to open the app to get the notifications.. its annoying... i bought 625 a week ago and immediately updated to 8.1 beta....its my first WP so im a bit confused.. am i missing something?? or this notification problems have been present from the beginning?? if any one could help i will be grateful as im very depended with those apps.... and people can seem to find me on time due to notification problem....
ps : there is no problem with GSM phone call and message.
Do you have a data plan? By default, WiFi turns off while the screen is off and the phone unplugged, so if you rely on WiFi for data then you won't get notifications until the phone is woken up, plugged in, or you change the WiFi settings.
Guys! SOLVED IT.
Push notifications doesnt work, because (I am almost 100% sure) all of you use Wifi connection only without SIM mobile data usage allowed. I think some guys thought at Microsoft that their phones will be used only with mobile internet packages or at places where there is always signal (sorry norwegians...). Friend of mine has a data package of a random size and she did not turn off data usage on the go, so she had always had the skype, viber calls and notifications at the moment they had been sent - also never understood my problem...
Solution: on Win 8.1 Lumia 532 go to Settings>Lock Screen, where you will see five apps to have rights to show detailed status when the screen is off. Select Skype, Viber, Whatsapp, whatever IM application, and you will be ringed once someone tries to call you via video or voice.
Tested on 532, gonna test it on wife's 550 after my shift.
Solution #2 (if you are not it the remote northern norwegian mountain region): buy at least the smallest monthly data package, when you run out the Mbs, the operator still gives you a small bandwidth that will enable you to get push notifications and also make calls when in WiFi area.
Peace!
