Phone not deleting emails from server - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone has gone a bit weird recently.
It sends and receives email (via gmail) fine. But when i delete or archive mail from my inbox, nothing happens at the server end. Next time i log into gmail on gthe computer, all the mail i thought i had dealt with via my phone is still there, apparently not deleted/not archived and showing as unread.
I am running cyanogen 3.6.5

Quick update - i have flashed Cyanogenmod 4.0.4 and the problem is still persisting. This problem is happening whether im connected via my network or via wifi.
Any suggestions??

go to setting apps scroll to email and clear cache should help. samething helps with gmail

I notice that from day 1 with then my unrooted Magic (vodafone) , now rooted but email problem as mentioned in firstpost is still same. Even if you set it up as detele from server with no effect.

Just an update - problem has fixed itself, normal service has resumed.
I assume the problem may have been due to the Gmail outage recently, but my G1 is now working properly again.

Sudden email downloading failure - help?

Hey there,
Got my Tilt a few days ago and had no problems setting up my email account to download from Gmail. I'd been having some problems with the messages disappearing from my inbox after I'd read them, never to be found again. I started fiddling with some things and now I can rarely connect and usually get this message.
"Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again."
I know that all my settings are correct because they match my Outlook on my PC. Also, I rarely connect to Gmail, but it has happened using these settings.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I'm running WM6.1
Solved!
Sorry folks, I figured it out, it was pretty simple.
I must have mistakenly turned on my WiFi. Here at school I can't download emails through the WiFi. Turned it off and now everything works fine on my data plan. Thanks for looking.

Mail question and is my hero dying

The mail question first. Is there any way to configure the mail account so that it leaves a copy of the message on the pop server? I would like to be able to check mail from my other account on my hero but I don't want it to download the message from the pop server and then delete it from the server. That way I can retrieve the messages with my outlook program as well when I am at home. The only setting I saw about deleting mail from the server when sending.
And now to the other part. I have noticed over the last couple of months(it is getting worse) that when the phone is plugged in and I try to do anything involving the keyboard or pushing buttons my phone acts crazy regardless of whether it is plugged into the pc or the charger. Sometimes the screen freezes or the keys will have like a 30 second delay or it will just reboot itself. NO I am noticing that I am getting random reboots. Once when I was watching a video on the internet. Another time it rebooted while i was checking my mail. This is happening at least 3 or 4 times a week.
Go into the Mail program. From there, push menu, more, then settings. Click on send and receive, then uncheck Delete mail on server. That's the only setting I see.
As far as your phone acting crazy, try a different rom if you're rooted.

Yeah I'd suggest a different ROM. What are you using now?
I have tried the Fresh 2.1, then 2.3.3 and it happened on both roms and I did do a factory reset between rom flashes. I am currently trying the cyanogen 6 rom. And eventhough I am not running app2sd I went ahead and replaced my sd card as well and that didn't stop the rebooting and random freezing.

[Q] Microsoft Exchange sync problem

After about 2hours of using my phone on wifi the exchange sync (built in mail application) doesn't sync anymore (internet itself keeps working). If I then disable en enable wifi, it works again.
I connect to exchange via https (outlook anywhere). Same goes for calendar.
btw, my GMAIL keeps working with no problem. It's just exchange that stops syncing
have you tried restarting the phone?
might be a service that got stuck
yep, doesn't fix it.
I'm gonna test TouchDown to see if it shows the same behaviour
Are you accessing Exchange via "Email for Exchange" or "Corporate"?
what do you mean?
I've made an account on my phone that connects to the 'webmail' of the exchange. Official name is Outlook Anywhere.
noob with similar issue
I'm a relative newbie to this forum so unsure of posting protocol, apologies in advance.
But whatever. I have the att version of the galaxy--the captivate--and have had a hard time getting exchange to work reliably. I've several times deleted and re-created my exchange account, and it will sync initially, and sometimes once or twice thereafter. But then, it ceases working competely, simply saying it has a "connection error".
This happens whether I'm on my company's wi-fi, home wi-fi, or just over the air 3G. the only fix is to recreate the account, and that's a pain.
I had an old winmo HTC fuze for a couple years, and it worked fine with this exchange server--I don't think I ever had to recreate the account, and it was thoroughly reliable. I also borrowed an old G1 for a couple weeks, used Roadsync, and it worked fine too.
I read in another forum that advanced task killer was the culprit, so I deinstalled it. No change. I also read that turning the synchronization on & off from the power widget was worth trying. Also no change.
Any other ideas? I too will try a 3rd party client before returning the phone. I mostly like the phone otherwise, though the GPS problem is annoying.
Appreciate any help.
Tried it with Touchdown: same issue. It tells me: No available network. However website continue to work...
When I click some links/visit some sites, it starts working again...

it sounds like the Wireless or 3G goes into sleep mode when you are not using it.
I have a similar problem, my calendar is able to sync but contacts unable to sync with exchange server.

[Q] Facebook contact syncing

I bought this phone last week, and everything synced fine. But now I'm getting a facebook sync error just for contacts saying "it will be back shortly"...
Any way to fix this or may it be just server related?
Edit: ok, I've tried removing and re-adding the facebook account and nothing. But it works with another facebook account.
Edit2: I even tried reseting the phone via Privacy and still the same sync error... Ideas?
I get that when I'm on wifi. When I switch back to data I'm fine
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
I get it on 3G and WiFi
Thanks for answering though!
Orktu Sync Issue
Hi, everybody, my SGS has the same problem, but only related to the Orkut sync (Orkut is a social network from google, very popular in Brazil). I tried several ways to solve this problem, like wipe the phone and upgrade the rom with Odin (with re-partition e bootloader reinstall, using several roms, froyo and eclair) and nothing worked until I use a new orkut(google) account, and it worked, but now, suddenly (in fact, after I tried to root with z4root, but I instaled a new rom already, with re-partition) stops to sync, and the same message is displayed.
What am I suposed to do?

Email Syncing WIFI

Hi has anybody else got this problem, my HTC one only syncs email when Im connected via WIFI, when out on road i do not receive emails but soon as i get back to office or home I receive all of them, this never happened with my One XL have i set something wrong?
same problem
I dont use wifi a lot so I've not replicated your issue yet (at least the wifi part)
I do, however, know that my phone does NOT automatically "push" the new e-mails when on data. The e-mail software waits for me to turn it on which in turn 'forces' an update.
Any help on this matter would be great.
Thanks.
EDIT:
I have just tried turning on wifi, and e-mail still does not push. When I open the app, it then syncs.
