I have a rooted g1. My issues is that when I call out, there is no dial tone and I can't hear the people I'm calling but they can hear me. They text me that the call went through but I can not here them. When the phone was not rooted and when I used cm 3.9.7 the phone was fine. I updated to cm 4.0.2 and the issue started to occur. Now I am currently running jacxrom r3 and it worked fine for a little bit then went back to the same issue. Does anyone have this problem? Is it a rom issue or a phone issue?
Thanks all

I would go back to a state where it did work. Either the older CM or the factory default (or both). If you are still having issues then it's probably a phone issue.
are you running apps 2 sd, did you wipe your phone before switching, did you wipe your sdcard partitions before switching? probably has something to do with the different dialer apks messing eachother up. That's my guess anyways.
thanks for the response folks. yes to everything you guys said except going back to factory. that will be my next shot.
Do you have the newest radio installed?
yes i do...if i didnt, jacxrom wouldnt work right?? either way i do because i got it off of his thread

I have a rooted G1 and had installed cm's 4.11.1.1 It was still not stable as expected and phonebook didn't work so i decided to start from scratch with my phone. I did a wipe, a factory reset, and reformatted my memory card. I then installed 4.04, the last stable version. I can't pinpoint the exact time this happened but I know longer receive incoming calls. The caller will here two quick rings, then much louder rings until it goes to voicemail. I did the fix_permissions script, everything i could think of. Reboots, taking the battery out, reflashing the radio image, another factory wipe. Nothing is working. While i'm typing this i am going back to the 3's to see if that solves the problem.
I would really appreciate the help on this one. I'm getting a little desperate!
Bare with me here guys. Im no stranger to the search functions, and days of reading.
I started with cyan, went through many builds, eventually noticed my sound wasent as strong as some other peoples phones, So i did got with that free audiohack, v2 only i believe.
So that helped, life was fine.
Last week, I nandroid backup my fone working phone.
Installed eugenes eclair build, nandroided that
Installed sensehero, nandroid'd that.
So in all of that swappen around, I went back to my nandroid of a working cyan 4.1.5 to see all my lil things were MIA, found out that was on the EXT part of the SDcard, no biggie.
So i keep using my phone like that, weird lil apps mismatched and not working, saying i have files installed that i dont [that were from a different ROM on my phone]. I deal with that for a day or so, then finally decide to format my SD card, repartition it, install the regular HTC OTA rom, then cyan as usual, my phone worked fine again, i do everything its fine. Installed the free-audiohack, to my knowledge doing everything right, and my phone was loud, and running great.
Then all of a sudden, I get phone calls where my actual earpeice would be regular volume for a second, like split second, just enough to tell it WAS loud, then go to a really really low sound.
It drove me nuts, i tryed everything over again, and now im at the point where my actual ear-speaker makes no sounds, at all. Speaker phone works fine, but nothing for the actual ear piece.
Anyone? Anything? Please?
If someone can help me from buying a new phone, Ill donate funds.
Sorry for the long explanation, just trying to be thorough. Flame me.
um...from an enthusiasts perspective, i would try starting from scratch (backup your NANDroids on your pc) then try going back to stock and re-rooting. It's worked for me in the past with degrading hardware issues. If it doesn't work, your g1's speaker is effed and you need to either replace it, or even easier, buy an additional g1 (craigslist, ebay etc.). You can find a replacement for 100 u.s. dollars quite easisly
My earpiece isn't working either, I'm not sure how it happened this time. It has happenes before, and I had to go back to stock, re root and re flash everything. But this time is not working :-S I don't know what to do... I'll probably try it again, but this doesn't make me very happy...
I'm not sure what the problem could be.
When I first wipe the phone everything is fine but as soon as I put a ROM on there I lose the ability to receive phone calls. Every call goes straight to voicemail. At first I thought it was an app causing the problem (YouMail, Timeriffic...). I uninstalled those but still no calls. I did a wipe, phone rings. Put a ROM (no apps yet), straight to voicemail. Right now I'm using Damage 1.5 but that doesn't make a difference because it happens with Fresh & Darch too.
Is there a common setting somewhere that changes and could be interrupting my ability to get calls?
edit.....
Now that I think about it, this all started yesterday when I changed that CDMA auto thing. But that setting doesn't keep after restarts right? And wiping the phone should have cleared that anyway right?

One word:
nandroid
That was the first thing I did
I've nandroided (is that a word?) all the way back to January. That's all I've done since this started yesterday. Wipe... New image. Wipe... old backup. Wipe, older backup.
I'm about to smash this thing lol
go back into the test menu and make sure your phone isn't set to evdo only tht will keep calls from, coming in
You only get to ask one question per thread, so I'll answer the one in your title.

It says I'm on GSM auto (PRL). I'm afraid to change it again. I think thats how I got into this mess in the first place

Gee thanks! lol
After living like this for 2 days I'm thinking it's not so bad. I changed my voicemail message to say I'm having a problem, send me a text and I'll call them back. I dont have angry ex's calling, no kids needing money, no mother complaining. They text me! And if I want to listen to it I'll call them back. It's kinda quiet. I think I like it
I'll put it back to stock and take it to Sprint tomorrow. Let them deal with it.
It seems like most of people dont have the ghost call issue of gingerbread update. If not they haven't figured it out as it doesn't occur always. I checked it with my home phone. I made 10 calls and 3 of them were ghost calls.
There problem is with the baseband according to my knowledge.
Do we have to wait for the next update to overcome this problem.?
If we did, there'd be a thread about it.
Please use the search function next time.

I feel bad for all you people having ghost call issues. I would say for anyone having them to take it to your store you got it and demand a different one. I have tried all the gb kdz's and never once had ghost call issues. It might be a problem specific to individual devices being not everyone has them. And it seems like the people who haven't had GC once, haven't had them ever.
And so I have spoken it.. and so it shall be.
ahh :-( :-(
that means we are not going to receive and GC fixing update in the future. Unfortunatly im outside US and will not be able to go to any store.. :-( :-( :-(
Factory resetting (from the menu and also all options in recovery menu) before and after reinstalling GB did the trick for me. Didn't notice any GCs after that and never got complaints from family anymore. I was on my countries official GB though. When I was trying to use Rogers nothing could have stopped GCs for me.
Im on the at&t baseband. Factory resetting it didn't work for me.

So did I, for some reason the last time I did it worked. Like I said though, I didn't simply factory reset it. I removed the mem card, formatted internal mem card 3x, factory reset phone from settings 3x, boot phone into recovery mode and performed all wipes 3x, than installed GB on this completely blank slate, than did all that again before using it. I believe I did have 1 GC instance after that, I don't remember for sure if it was before or after I did all that, but than for at least 5 weeks I whenever I noticed white signal bars I dialed a number and sent myself a text. They always worked fine and I never got the RIP message. Also no one ever had trouble getting a hold of me or mentioned that they couldn't, and my wife is very vocal about that. That's how I knew I was having so many problems before the final straw that forced me to try all that. Either way I've now jumped ship and an happily using an iPhone 4S. Sure I miss my custom keyboads and stuff but my phone finally works smooth as silk and I never have to worry about it again.

I recently flashed Paranoid Android 4.6 BETA5. Everything is fine except I now have a horrible problem with dropped calls. I've had my phone for close to a year and never had this issue. I am rooted, was previously on CM11. Prior to flashing PA, I had to return to stock, get the KitKat update, re-root and then flash. I'm afraid I may have messed something up. Again, everything else is fine except for this.
Any help is appreciated.

Try a different rom to rule out if it's your phone or PA...

May have to go that route, sadly. Although, I think I may have narrowed it down to an issue with the proximity sensor. I've been able to complete calls without dropping when on speakerphone or using my FM transmitter in the car.
Flashed Bliss since my last post and no issues with dropped calls. Was on Optimus prior to PA and had no problems. Last night, I did a Nandroid backup and flashed PA again. Same problem. In a 6 or 7 minute conversation with my dad, the call dropped 3 times. Can't figure this out to save my life. Really wanna run PA, but can't live with this issue. I've done a search in different forums and nobody else is reporting this issue. It's gotta be something I've done.
If anybody else has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
