[Q] Have you guys fixed the ghost call issue..? - LG Thrill 4G

It seems like most of people dont have the ghost call issue of gingerbread update. If not they haven't figured it out as it doesn't occur always. I checked it with my home phone. I made 10 calls and 3 of them were ghost calls.
There problem is with the baseband according to my knowledge.
Do we have to wait for the next update to overcome this problem.?

If we did, there'd be a thread about it.
Please use the search function next time.

I feel bad for all you people having ghost call issues. I would say for anyone having them to take it to your store you got it and demand a different one. I have tried all the gb kdz's and never once had ghost call issues. It might be a problem specific to individual devices being not everyone has them. And it seems like the people who haven't had GC once, haven't had them ever.
And so I have spoken it.. and so it shall be.

ahh :-( :-(
that means we are not going to receive and GC fixing update in the future. Unfortunatly im outside US and will not be able to go to any store.. :-( :-( :-(

Factory resetting (from the menu and also all options in recovery menu) before and after reinstalling GB did the trick for me. Didn't notice any GCs after that and never got complaints from family anymore. I was on my countries official GB though. When I was trying to use Rogers nothing could have stopped GCs for me.

Im on the at&t baseband. Factory resetting it didn't work for me.

So did I, for some reason the last time I did it worked. Like I said though, I didn't simply factory reset it. I removed the mem card, formatted internal mem card 3x, factory reset phone from settings 3x, boot phone into recovery mode and performed all wipes 3x, than installed GB on this completely blank slate, than did all that again before using it. I believe I did have 1 GC instance after that, I don't remember for sure if it was before or after I did all that, but than for at least 5 weeks I whenever I noticed white signal bars I dialed a number and sent myself a text. They always worked fine and I never got the RIP message. Also no one ever had trouble getting a hold of me or mentioned that they couldn't, and my wife is very vocal about that. That's how I knew I was having so many problems before the final straw that forced me to try all that. Either way I've now jumped ship and an happily using an iPhone 4S. Sure I miss my custom keyboads and stuff but my phone finally works smooth as silk and I never have to worry about it again.

Phantom Reset

I was using my phone a few hours ago (adding an icon from the application drawer to the home screen if that will help with solving the problem) when suddenly, the phone reset itself as though I had done a wipe from the recovery console. I had to sign back into Google and re-sync my contacts and calendar. All my settings were back to defaults. My home screen icons disappeared and changed to the default icons (browser, contacts, dialer, market, messaging, maps) as did the wallpaper. All my SMS messages were gone. Basically, it as was as though I had wiped and flashed the ROM for the first time.
However, and this is the weird part. Not only were all my apps still there but they were still installed. All the settings were lost but they were still there. I am not concerned with the restoration of my settings or anything like that. I've got that all covered with backups. My big question is why did it happen? Has anyone experienced or heard of this phantom reset? My ROM details are in my sig but just in case that changes and someone visits this post later, it will make more sense to them if I list it in the post itself.
Cyanogen 3.6.8.1 w/Recovery Menu v1.4. Radio v2.22.19.26i. A2SD on 550MB ext2 partition. Compcache enabled/24MB.

Well, I can tell you why your apps survived, because you have them on sd card so that's not weird, you can wipe all you want and they will survive.
I would say this is a glitch, don't worry about it unless it happens again.

Yes, the apps on sd being the reason I didn't lose them makes sense. I had a different problem losing apps on the sd when I wiped but that was a mistakes in the way I was slinking and it was also on JF1.51 (a2sd is very unstable on that ROM). Anyway, I'm seriously hoping it was just a one time glitch because my setup is voodoo smooth otherwise. I finally got my G1 running perfectly and I'd hate to think something was wrong. Either way, Nandroid is always an option.
Phantom Reset Not a Glitch. Happened Again!
OK. So it happened again. The phantom reset that I described in the first post happened to me again. It's pretty annoying to have to perform Nadroid restores all the time. Anyone have any real thoughts other than telling me it was a fluke?
Possible Answer
I am pretty certain that this happened right after I used Backup for Root Users. I have my identical setup on my father's G1 and this has never happened. He has told me in the past that he does not use that app. I don't want to instantly blame the app but I want to provide as much info as possible. Cyan's ROMs are too good for this to be an issue.

The dev has reported that it has issues (if you can replicate the errors, send him a logcat)
hes on the forums on this site
SOLVED
Thanks a lot. I will try and write-up (on dev's site) of what I was doing when it happened. It happened to me twice so I don't think I will use it again (at least until it's fixed). I am a backup freak so I like to use multiple apps but nandroid seems to cover it all. I will stick with what seems to work (and work well) for now.
On a side note, Cyan's latest looks too juicy not to try out. Going to upgrade now.

[Q] Poll On Successful Update to Froyo for I9000(m)

I would like to know how many of you had successfully updated their SGS (Samsung Galaxy S) to Froyo. I think this will help us understand the failure rates so people who do not want to risk bricking their phone.
1) Updated with no problems
2) Updated with problems
3) Tried to update and having problems
4) Did not update at all
If you are talking about roms.. Well most are a 1. I habent heard of an official froyo update. And.if.you by chance do.brick it, there are ways to unbrick it pretty easily.

I have the Bell Vibrant which is the I9000M.
I thought that Bell released an official update for their new Froyo. Check it out here
mobilesyrup.com/2010/12/08/bell-samsung-galaxy-s-vibrant-upgrade-to-os-2-2-froyo-coming-december-10th/
Did update my Bell Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000M with Bell release Froyo available using Kies and all seemed to be running smoothly until I had issues connecting my bluetooth and trying the voicedialing features that did not work in my case and after got Force close on every apps. Did a shutdown and got the device in a loop at boot up.
Will try tonight to reload the device with 2.1 and see from there to retry 2.2.
Finger cross !
I upgraded with no problems but I did do a factory reset as things started to get a bit slow and from what Ive read it is a good idea to do a reset to get rid of any residual 2.1 stuff on the device. Since then the update has been working well for me...
KNOCK ON WOOD!!!
I have 2 SGS phones so you'll just have to add another vote to the "successful upgrade" option in addition to the one I was able to cast
I've flashed the following 2.2's without any problems so far:
- unofficial JK3 (Canada) via ODIN
- official JK4 (Canada) via Kies
- straight JPU via ODIN
- JPU Doc RomMOD v2 via update.zip recovery
No problems with flashing.
And yes, clearing data & cache is helpful (mandatory?). Backups are good!
there is NO problem upgrading.
the Internal SD failure comes AFTER you have SUCCESSFULLY upgraded the phone, a few hours to a few days later

Cool. That makes this type of poll misleading then because someone reporting success today may have issues tomorrow (we can't change our vote correct?).
That's right. I saw your post about your phone going bust. Sorry to hear that.
I just can't get Kies to work -- it just says "connecting to device" and it hangs
Also can't install MPT USB drivers -- always fails. I installed the correct x64 bit Windows 7 drivers and everything.
Ughh
Wow. I didn't think people would have problems after the update. Man, I really should wait until we all know that its okay to update. I am new when it comes to the SGS so if I fail at it, I don't want to start crying. This is such a nice phone....so if it works, why break it?

Same - I am hessitant now to upgrade.
I had one of the original phones, it sucked, no GPS, etc. and it died on me.
I got a new phone, for free, my buddy works at bell, GPS works fine, and this one I think had the internal card failure b/c one day it just went black - reboot and the bottom lights light up but it doesn't boot in.
I did a recovery mode -> hard reset seemed to fix it -- tho i lost all my apps and contacts etc.
Now I haven't rooted or lag fixed, but I REALLY want froyo.
But what's the point ? I already had to do a reset b/c of internal card failures in the past, that means im almost guaranteed to lose this one if i upgrade,...

If your card is gonna die its gonna die no matter if you upgrade or not....Flashing just seems to speed up the corruption.
Thats a good question. People seem to be having big issues with this new Froyo update here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867157. I really hope Bell gets a fix for this new "firmware Froyo 2.2" that they just released.
If the Nexus S is the so similar to the SGS I9000M why dont we have Gingerbread (2.3) yet?
Again people. It's not the froyo update that's a problem it's bad internal SDcards. These phones were dying before froyo came out and without ever flashing anything.
If they're gunna die, they're gunna die. Flashing just helps to speed up the failures. SO flash away and hope it blows before your warranty is up.

If I was you I'd flash the crap outta your phone. If your black screen was due to a weak internal SD then it's gunna go. So flash it and hope it goes so you can get a new(repaired) one. Of course the wait time is a bit long right now for repairs. And there's no guarantee that the newly repaired one won't blow.

[Q] I rooted Captivate w/Froyo 2.2 - Now lots of problems

I finally updated to the official AT&T Froyo 2.2 probably about a month ago. Everything was working great. I wanted to root/enable sideloading apps/unlock. I used SuperOneClick 2.1.1. The root worked fine (at least I think so). I was not able to enable sideloading apps so I read online how to change the value of sideloading apps from 0 to 1. I also unlocked the phone using the Galaxy S unlock app from the the Market.
Almost right after the SD Scan would take a long time and then I would get a red SD card symbol saying "Low on Space - Database storage is getting low". I tried clearing cache's to fix the problem. It didn't fix anything. Soon thereafter I started getting "Message Memory Full - Incoming messages rejected due to full...." I cleared phone log/txt messages but it hasn't fixed anything. I looked at my internal and external SD card. My external card is 3.68 total with 17MB available. My internal has 12.67GB available.
Today all of a sudden if I try to look at my missed call I get "samsung captivate the application phone (process com.sec.android.app.dialertab) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I get similar messages trying to open Gmail. I haven't gotten it on any other apps yet as far as I know. It vibrates like crazy when the apps crash.
Can anyone help me with the problem? It's making my phone useless right now and my battery is dying much quicker than before. Thanks!

My vote is to go with a custom ROM. It will solve all of these problems. Cognition is the most similar to stock and is quite easy to flash. As for the problems you are having, I don't know what to tell you.
Try Cognition 4.5.3. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the quick replay Jack especially on a Fri night. What exactly do I do? Is it difficult to do?
Well, not busy tonight. Watching pre-season football.
Flashing a Froyo rom is not too bad. Since you have stock 2.2 it will be a little more tricky than if you were still on 2.1.
First, what is your build number? look on the sticker under your battery to see a four digit number beginning with either 10 or 11.
I will private message you with more.

Make sure you READ EVERY LINE OF THE OP. When you think you got it, read it again, then give it a shot. For the time being just factory reset your phone, should clear up some of your issues. Good luck
sent from long ago, in a Galaxy far, far away.
^^^ he's right. READ, READ, READ... until you're sick of it. It will pay off and keep you from bricking. Sorry I didn't mention that. But I will be glad to help you if you need.
and if (or when) you manage to brick it do not panic,, go back and read some more,, seems that almost everything an idiot like me can do is fixable,, and most normal people are pretty safe,, they are not going to kill their phone,,,,if they read and follow instructions,,,not doing those two have found my phone in some pretty unresponsive states,, but I am running mosaic VI now and loving it,,but have been on so many I had to go look,,and have finally I hope learned the value of reading ( and those other people probably do know more than me so I should not think I know better ,,,yet)

Not sure how much of knowledge you have gained before doing these attempts of changing some values to enable side-loading...
I would suggest to do factory reset since you are still on FROYO and see if this does the magic.
If it gets locked back to AT&T, I suggest just talk to AT&T rep to unlock & side-enabling. Once all is well, you can do rooting as you did before. Hope this helps to solve your problem.
For any other help, we have XDA here and get some time to go through forums. As others suggested, please read, understand and act.
A day after I posted this the phone seemed to be working right. However Jackman pointed out if it happened once it's almost sure it will happen again. I tended to agree with him so did a factory reset and then flashed with Cognition 4.5.3 with a lot of Jack's help of course. Right now seems to be working flawlessly. I do like this whole custom ROM idea. Even thinking about buying a used Captivate on ebay just so I can mess around with other ROMs. Thanks everyone for your help & input. If you have any other suggestions my ears are always open...

Just for a bit of encouragement ive been using Cognition 4.5.3 as my daily driver for the past 4-5 months and have never had a single issue with great battery life. Ive tried numerous other roms on this forum and always have run into a boot loop, force close, or other random issue that makes my phone unstable but with Cognition I experience what my phone was meant to be like.

Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...

What's wrong with my Note 4? Slowdowns galore and freezing

DOK2 all stock firmware here.
Got my phone back in december. My phone has been chugging alone fine until yesterday. not sure what happened but the lock screen takes minutes to come back. I tried doing a factory reset via software and when I did that the phone was still sluggish. Tried a stock recovery reset, and afterwards when i tried signing into my account and connecting to wifi at the initial setup the phone just rebooted back to the start screen again which i thought was real odd. It's currently restoring apps from the app store right now and it intermittently reboots itself while doing stuff. all while it's completely stuttering if i try to use it...
Is my phone starting to have internal memory failure? no SD card in the phone at the moment.
Should I try reflashing the DOK2 firmware via odin and then doing a reset again? Is that even possible with all the restrictions?
used it for about 30 minutes on my way to work and then it rebooted on me with the following error :
ddi: mmc_read failed
Check this thread for a workaround. I use an app to keep my phone from going into deep sleep.

Wouldn't hurt to reflash stock. Google usually restores apps when you check box at first boot for backup and restore. I'm wondering if you installed an app that doesn't agree with your phone... if so, you may continue seeing this issue so long as app is installed.

Did a factory reset and cleared cache, reflashed stock DOK2 from sammobile website using odin, cleared cache. things were going a little bit better at first but now just stuttering all over the place and randomly rebooting still. I only have very few apps downloaded, including facebook updates, instagram, all the samsung and google crap that forces updates...
Also want to add that booting into recovery takes a very long time, longer than i've ever noticed it taking... 7 min+ sometimes it will say "installing system updates" with the android guy chugging along, other times it will just have the android guy chugging....
Is there anything else I can try? Is there something I can test to verify that it's a hardware issue and not a software problem, like a flash memory checker?
This phone is out of warranty, and knox has been tripped so I have very limited options here. Would the Tmobile store let me do an exchange for a fee?

Sprint user here. I thought it might be a carrier issue, but it would seem It's at least Tmo & Sprint
Can't seem to find any complaints on the Verizon/ATT forums but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Could it be Touchwhiz?
Here is the Sprint post:

I do get some touch wiz crashes and random app crashes . since I'm on dok2 is there any other rom or recovery I can flash ? Or so some super duper erase method? I'm pretty much ready to cut my losses and sell it for parts on eBay.
i'm not alone it seems

I am having same issue. Was running stock until 3 days ago, when I got fed up with the stock reboot and slow-down. I guess it's time to save up and get a new phone.
Samsung must have activated some self destruct feature on their hardware to get people to upgrade to the galaxy s7 i guess....

Well, fool me once.... Having spent $800 on a phone that broke in just over a year, hell would have to freeze over before I give Samsung any money again.
