Quick question, just out of curiosity
I think I will, but I will still keep my faithful X1
paint issues and cracks on version 1, then to bring version 2 with nothing new except for 8.1 mp cam and autorotate why should I? I love my x1 but that does not mean i am totally satisfied with it, if I get one for free to blog about or advertise yea i will get one, but i am not paying that kinda cash for the x2...the keyboard looks usable, but its ugly as sin, the only sexiness on it is the screen and the back of the device...i will switch to htc, then maybe wait later for the x5 or the next version with winmo 7
If its going to be laggy and slow then its a no.
But i will wait until i read some reviews and see it when its been released to see if it is good enough
A waste of money.. better wait 1 or 2 years for windows 7+ phones those will be WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more powerfull.
HTC made the X1 so theres no way im going to move across and buy any of their junk after the mess they made of the x1. (my bro had an HTC phone a while back and that was terrible too so i shoulda known better!) The X2 is made by sony so ill give it a lot of consideration. so far its looking promising.
sony always do a few updates to a series of phones p800-p900 > p910-990 > p1i so anyone expecting a completely different phone is going to be sorely dissapointed and obviously doesnt know how sony operate. maybe they should of named the X2 the X1.5? lol

okay, you wait two years without getting a new phone
hell NO! NO WAY!!
Yes.
X2 has a lot of upgrades and improvements over X1.
Plus for me a much better design.
Addictionally it will be on WM 6.5.
As X1 looks great, on photos X2 looks 2 times better.
IMO of course.
For sure I'll take the X2 !
Many users complain about the X1. Ok it's not perfect.
If I take an example with other SE phones, the K750i (first SE photophone with autofocus) was also very buggy and it's hardware was not ok either (joystick and camera lens problems). But the next K series were just fine.
So I hope thy will also drastically improve the quality of the X series. I am happy with my X1, but it's very perfectible. The X2 seems to have all the features missing to the X1, so I'll get it for sure.

Blah blah blah.
Not with the same slow ass processor and weak unsupported chipset. Thats the only thing I want improved from the X1.
I will probaly not go with the X2 this time around because:
1) My X1 continues to serve my needs
2) The X2, while having some very nice new features, will be too expensive for me to buy so soon
3) XDA Developer support of the X1 means we may see some X2 features on the X1
I'm really waiting for a killer Android handset. I have Windows Mobile fatigue, but I don't want an iPhone or Pre or Symbian device.
I think X2 is what X1 is supposed to be...price probably will be high...let's see first when it is release...observe for a couple of weeks or months...
X1 lack of support on SE...we'll see about X2
if i get one free as a replacement for my x1 i will happly have it as it is better than the x1 but not better enough for me to pay £500+ when i already have a x1.
Well, to me most important is whether any of the cooks will buy the X2. Cos if not, guess that's bye bye to the cooked ROMs for the X2. Unless we donate to the cooks to get them a X2 and ask them to cook for us (assuming they are willing to). Anyway, guess that's still early to be saying.
SE should drop Windows Mobile ENTIRELY - it's an architecturally crap OS, impossible to fix.
Give me an Android X2/X3 and I'll be all over it.
Hell, no way this was the last mistake I've made with SE devices, too expensive not worth it!!!!
I 'll stick back to HTC...
No, because nokia N900 come soon ^^
And I want keep X1, N900, and I'll buy the X3
Wm, linux, androïd... Yeah lol

Oh my giddy aunt! Have you seen the new Palm OS? WOW!!!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yeKXksLEYo8
Look at videos 3, 4 and 5 too.
Seems amazing, slick, smooth and more innovative than iPhone OS. I love the GUI and usability of it.
What I love more is the instant app/contact/favourite search just by typing the keys. No more navigating or searching for icons. I used to have this feature on my Nokia N73. It was called Skyequikey and was BRILLIANT!
I am so tempted to get the new palm phone even with the lower specs. I used to have palm pdas and treos and loved them (even though different os now).
All this interest in getting Android to run on our HD. Imagine if Palm Web OS was on our HD. Surely that would make it the best phone ever!
Dreams...
that looks very impressive! Who is the handset made by I wonder? HTC?
I think Android is an ugly OS, personally, but that Palm interface does look pretty and much more functionally advanced than what I've seen of the iPhone.
I wonder how pretty WM7 is going to be. Much of the background functionality from the Palm already exists within WM6 but it's not presented in such an accessible way. Surely it wouldn't take much for MS to provide a new GUI since the notifications, multitasking, communications, data management etc. already exist. But I'm guessing.
You could imagine why many WM6 apps wouldn't work in an environment with that sort of GUI though. I wonder how many old Palm apps work in this brave new world? (I must admit, I didn't realise Palm was still selling devices.)
This looks incredible. I plan to upgrade around December 2009, so hopefully this may well be out and living up to expectations.
One thing, on almost every page it mentions that most of its features require internet access to keep up-to-date, which obviously makes sense, but any idea how much data will be required to do such a thing? Could be quite a large amount. If it happened to be on Orange I am almost certain new data tariffs would be needed!
amaizing.....extra ordinary innovation

They sad no old Palm apps are supported and that they might make an emulator.
It will be interesting to see how the phone works in real life. As of now there is no price for it and all we have to go by is a few demos (everything is looks awesome in a controlled demo).
New Palm OS
Hi Guys
Yes this is an exciting development. I started with my first PDA being the old Palm IIIc and it was great.
I "reluctantly" moved to WM in 2007 due to the lack of progress in OS development and saw how the others were evolving.
I really hope that Palm is able to make a comeback with this product and provide a true alternative to iPhone & WM but I think it really is up to the software developers to start coming up with the applications for us.
KaidM
Looks fabulous doesn't it? It's Plam's way of getting us back for Touch HD not being available in the US! Good job this new Palm is US only, else I'd be gutted I just shelled out on my HD.
Also we have that lush 800px screen, the Palm is much lower res.
the UI is just amazing, im really getting tired of windows mobile now, i just cant seem to let it go,
microsoft needs to stop playing catch up and actually start leading, we have to wait untill what? windows mobile 7, to get a better UI and even then it may not be so good.
I know where all expecting something really good from windows mobile 7, i just hope it is as good as we expect it to be.
I agree. windows mobile 7 HAS to be on par with the new Web OS otherwise it will be just the old standard os with a new skin. Palm is back and what a fantastic comeback.
I love how everyone is in love with the Pre.
iPhones are being dissed left and right, because of it
This phone is coming to the UK, just later than in the US. Gives us time to see if the OS really is as good as it looks.
I just hope companies will make sites and programs for it. Everything seems to be going one way at the moment - iPhone.
As great as XDA is, it would be nice if my HD, or the Pre (which I hope to get looking at it so far) were supported half as well.
Glad to see Palm come back in such a way. Had a Treo 650 for 2 years, it never let me down. Good luck

WHAT unique OS? Palm OS is five years old and was a PDA interface and is now owned by another company!
Very coool,.....
Right, the UI looks great,.
maybe someday could be ported to HTC? lol
I know, i know...there has been said soooo much about the possible ROM-update voor X1 from wm 6.1 to wm 6.5....but there is just still is a bit of a bluh-feeling about the xperia not getting a final boost in performance/experience!
Not one person i know woth a x1 is going to buy the x2, and everyone i know with another phone, and everyone i read about on the net is looking at other phones! the X2 is bound to be a huge flop, simply because they (SE) are running behind! Everyone i know is talking about the HD2 woth its huge screen, or the omnia 2 with its huge screen and bright colors...the iphone is still hot with its huge screen, so is the touch pro 2, the hero, and even the Acer is getting ooohs and aaaahs!!!
And sony is coming with the X2? just compare all those hot phones with the xperia 2....not a great comparison IMHO!
N o, what i think what should be done, is to make the X1-fans more happy with their phone than they ever been, make the product really what it should be...skip the X2...and focus an the x3...(wich should be the true X2)
And because SE isn't doing anything right now about that, i would ask everyone who has the most cleanest wm 6.5 rom to link to the right thread, so any of the new(unexperienced) users can find a way to use their phones as they were brand new!
am with you
looked around for a x1 update to found some clean roms just dont know if its all worth it am not buying the x2 for all you know when we get the x2 the x3 will be out in afew months
pls let me know if you find a 6.5 se update for the x1
The SE rachael is now officially labeled the X10, not X3 anymore.

But i want to buy a WindowsPhone and I don't konw if i have to buy Xperia x2 or HTC HD 2 ! Who's the best for you? I love the physic keyboard on Xperia but the hardware appears to be old! Winmo 7 Will be possible on Xperia?
Help me please! I don't want to buy a bad product!
I think keep this phone for 2 years maxi!!
Thanks in advance
Given the two choices, get the HD2. The hardware is far superior than that of the X2. It has a much better chance of running WM7 than the X2 also, when/if that becomes possible.
Completely agree, go for Leo!
Just adding that with Leo you´ll have the plus of having this site magnific support
Okey Thanks for your reply! I Think test them and buy the HTC...
Thanks a lot!

Have to agree from the reviews i've read and it's just not HTC
Go for the HTC HD 2
It's real damage that the X2 have a bad processeur (525Mhz)
i have tried a few diffrent winmo phones from diffrent companies, acer/toshiba/HTC and HTC are leagues ahead of the competition, i sold my
TGO1 after a week and bought a hero lol
Go for the htc hd2 and hang out on xda!
The HD2 is the best phone but if your 15, dude i hope you have big hands!
LOL! Yes i've big hands
@mancsoulja: Android is better than WinMo ? Cause, the X10 comes with Snapdragon, so i can wait...
Android is good, the diffrence between winmo and android is on android everything works lol there are no errors, no force closes no issues what so ever that i have had with my winmo devices, everything just works first time every time, although i always seem to come back to winmo, i think the quality of software is much higher on winmo, u can get programs for everything, where as android is not so good software wise, they will and are catching up to windows but its your personal opinion
Okey, so i prefer WinMo, i think Android it's like iPhone OS... Not realy but I want a new thing.. So WinMo is perfect !
Witch WindowsPhone have 1Ghz and Physic keyboard ?
None to this date!
I am waiting for that too but don´t think we will see it till 2011 (hope I´m wrong...)
windows phone or windows CE phone
the only windows phone is this powered by xp http://www.xpphone.com/en/
Good hardware but it's a very big phone :/

Well after having my HD7 since launch I returned it today and went back to my HD2 running Android.
The last straw for me was using Youtube and seeing the lousy video playback..in a centered screen. WTF is that? Totally unacceptable in my book.
While I like the look of the UI, theres just something about it that got tiresome.
Real Cons for me were.
I really dislike IE.
Youtube.
Battery life.
No LED notifications.
Amount of animations to get something done.
No Google Maps.
Homescreen tiles. While pretty, because most tiles are the same color I found it confusing to quickly choose what I wanted.
Camera was a toss up. Some photos were great, some not.
I never got around to playing games on it because battery life was so bad.
Anyway you get the idea. I gave it a shot and I will be keeping an eye on it.
I hope it works out for all you others.
Good for you. I don't think you are set to be an early adopter anyway.
This OS is still in its infancy. So, I would say you guys should hold off on getting the WP7 until the next version.
I, for one LOVE this OS and I do not have any issues for the functions that I use this phone on a daily basis... Phone Call, Internet, Mails, Movies and Music. No issues what so every. I also use the camera, and if at all, thats the only only issue I have compared to the HD2. I think the camera should be improved a bit more.
Agreed
I do have to agree that the OS is still new and has some bugs to be worked out, but over all I really enjoy the HD7 and WP7. The OS is simple and for myself was ready for something a little simpler them the current OS systems out there. I have found it in some ways to be a blending of the Android and IPhone, but still remaining Windows. The camera is a little difficult and touchy to get good pics, but hey it's a phone.
I think in the months to come we will see updates from MS and they will adress some of the small issues. MS has invested alot money into the development of WP7, and feel and hope that MS will really put the resources needed to futher develope the firmware/software.
Sorry to hear that but hey it wasn't meant to be a fully loved OS by everybody.
Btw what are you going back to ? (or forward)
Personally, I am very satisfied with the OS so far and I am in a long run with Microsoft on this one. If other OSs aren't catching up in terms of speed (besides functionality) I doubt I will break away from WP7 any time soon. Me being more the music/browsing/e-mail type of guy it does perfectly what others haven't been able to reach yet.
i have to agree on some points. I do like the fact it's "speedy" but really dislike about camera (but that is not a OS issues but HTC's, i believe). considering the platform being only a few weeks (almost a month) old, it's got good start. Just as Nokia N900 when it first came out, there were issues. they will be address as time pass by. Microsoft just need a bit of support from all of us to really expand their market.
I think having Apple, Google and Microsoft in the mix will keep different inovation to come into the market.
i'm sorry for your experience but i guess no single solution will make everyone happy.

would be interested to know what Android web browser has that WP7 IE does not?
speed is the same, rendering is the same, Android has a tendency to "block render" a bit more than IE on slow sites, overall same experience between the two.
Also, Youtube is an application for WP7, it is not part of WP7 so judging the OS based on a crappy app is not a fair evaluation of its capabilities.
I am usually streaming youtube vids from home while connected to my WIFI and quality is pretty decent, got a bit worse over slow 3G but don't see how it could better with Android.
guys its personal preference and if some one likes to RUN android on a machine which is not made for it.. i will rest my case....
why do u want to run android on a WM device when there are so many android device in the market...
all the best to u my friend.... and the only valid reason u had was the youtube app... which ic not even WP7 app... any way all the best..
I've considered returning my HD7 many times. What's really keeping me from returning my phone is the potential. The UI on WP7 is beautiful. If you guys try the Flux and the IMdB apps, you'll know what I mean.
I'm keeping mine. I actually love it. I had a first gen iPhone and loved it. This HD7 and WP7 is every bit as good as that iPhone and is better in numerous ways. To me, it feels like a luxurious high-end Lexus or Infiniti. I find it to be the absolute best phone ever created. Just purely gorgeous from every aspect, externally and internally. WP7 is a sweet piece of kit.
Too bad you are giving up on it. The next update will likely solve your concerns. I knew what would be *initially* lacking in WP7 and still find it pure bliss.

+1. I'm willing to do without a few features for another month or so till the update, because this phone is fantastic. Once the updates starts taking care of more and more issues being one of the first WP7 (specifically HD7) owners will be so worth it.
I been from Nokia apple android and now the Hd7
So yeah I have had all of them Each has the goodies and the baddies
although I am more inclined towards android.. ( hope nokia ditches symbian and goes with their meego which is also linux based like android.. or just go with android )
WM7 and HD 7 is the lovable although i do agree they they to update the OS which I am hoping will be next year
Must admit thought that Microsoft has taken the best of both android and apple with WM7 so fingers crossed that the updates will sort us out

I agree with you on many, but not all.
I took some pictures last night, and I have to say the button to use ( like a camera ) is the most annoying thing ever, the HD2 / I phone and I think many phone on screen touch button was the best, you tap it, it auto focuses and walla good pics, I took 15 pictures last night in a low light condition with flash, not one is clear, every pic came out blurry, then I realized its because i move the phone a tiny bit when attempting to press the worst button created for taking pictures.
I still have 10 days left before I can return mine, going to contemplate.

My thoughts exactly. I knew what I was getting, and what I wasn't, and I love it!
I find it a bit strange as well to go back to Android on the HDS - why not the Desire HD - same phone but actually made for Android?!
I love the new Windows Phone 7 OS, but the HTC HD7 really is a piece of s**t. Ive got to send mine away for repair already due to the power button getting stuck in, not exactly what you'd call a high end quality product. Ive had plenty of HTC phones, since the days of the XDA 1, and to be honest they have all been utter s***e. Im definately never going to buy another HTC product, I suppose thats what you get for buyin stuff that comes from China.

Most phones and most electronics come from China. The iPhone, designed and developed in the USA, is made in China. Most Sony phones...Japanese phones...are made in China. Pretty much any electronic equipment you own is likely made in China. HTC is a Taiwan company and is the major producer of nearly all the major phones from most companies. They made all the Palm devices prior to the Pre and Pixi...not sure who makes the Pre and Pixi now. Apple has always used Foxconn ...a Chinese company... for production of the iPhone and most, if not all, of their other products. MS used a Chinese producer for the Zunes. HTC is a similar producer. They are contracted by a number of electronics makers to produce their products. The HTC quality has always been quite good. But, until recently, that quality has nose dived a bit...for whatever reason.
My HTC HD7 is an outstanding phone. The quality is exemplary. But it took 3 other, defective, HD7s to get the good one. I feel my HD7 is like a high-class, high-end automobile in look, feel and construction.
Hi guys,
Using my HD7 for the last 5 days and until now everything runs fine
In my opinion this is an outstanding phone. Excellent quality and the new SO is very good for my use (professional and personal)
Of course some things must be corrected by MS, let's wait for the updates that all people are waiting
I am wondering if i should get rid of my HTC HD7. I see the new HTC Sensation and everything looks far superior. Just want a word from you guys before i make the move. Any ETA to when T-Mobile will have them in stock? Also i saw some guy on kijiji selling a HD7 with Android 2.2 on it. I prefer Android over WP7.
Like come on m$ didnt even make a MSN Messenger yet.
And check out the Music player... how ridiculous they don't have a feature to make playlists and why cant videos play in background? why do they just stop when u exit? Sure if a call is coming it can stop... but other than that...
And it had no copy/paste... even though they released copy/paste there is no cut and paste... And they tell us if we jailbreak the phones we wont get the copy/paste feature... like come on that is so bs cause iphone and android phones come with copy/cut/paste.
And importing/exporting the contacts is so f***ed... skydrive and live profile are only way...
And no microSD expansion slot.. just one damn internal slot and if that doesnt work you are left with 15MB of storage.. great.
No proper GPS Navigation other than what we have done so far.. Navigon modded.
I have my HD7 upgraded to 32gb and it has the mugen battery. Any ideas on how much i should sell it for.. it has all the xbox live games and most of the apps.
MSN Messenger is available in the Marketplace, this is an MS approved messenger client so don't expect MS to make another one.
Of course you can make a playlist, just longpress any song you want to add to your current "Now Playing" list and select "Add to Now Playing". It won't appear under the "Playlists" section as this requires Zune but no big deal, at least you've got a list of songs playing you want to play.
Copy/Paste has arrived (although i don't use it). If you think Jailbreaking any device will give you automatic updates without consequences you're mistaken.
Contacts backup are one of the greatest features imo. I've got every single contact linked to my Gmail account so if i ever hard reset all i have to do is link my Gmail account to my phone. Easiest way i've ever known on any device.
I think you should probably put a selling price of £500 and hope that the next person knows absolutely nothing about the device before buying it too. Take your games/apps for example. You obviously have no idea of how these work. So i'll help you out, the next person to buy the phone won't be able to use them (unless they use YOUR email address to set up the phone).
Yeah ! I am inclined towards the HTC Sensation as well now..
Have to make up my mind between Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation..
But I haven't been disappointed with WP7 at all
1. Messenger by Miyowa is the Official MSN messenger ( I dont use it anyway)
I guess it is really down to personal choice.
I have an Htc Hero and Boy I flashed so may Roms on it and now I am nearly sick of flashing All the Lovely Roms on it
WP7 bought something Fresh and New and it serves my daily purpose, the only truely bit that I miss is the navigation, but I guess it will come in the Mango update.
I might sell my HD7 later on , but I doubt anyone will give more than £300 for it if I am lucky, with the new HTC HD7 S being out as well.. or might just keep it
I seriously want to get a NOKIA WP7 when they release theirs next Year cause I am sure the will rock like hell.
As far as I know If Apple doesn't come with something New or different... Android and WP7 will blow them out of competiton
If you think WP7 is ****ty have a look at this video

Its just one of the things you will be able to do with it
you know what really grinds my gear, - Posts like this
I got my HD7 for only 1 reason, to have WP7. i knew hardware is the same as HD2, but hey, i couldnt wait for a working port of the OS to HD2. Android was just getting boring as well...
Do i still like my HD7 - yes,
Would i want Sensation instead -yes, definitely, if it came with WP7, but it doesn't, so what's the point. Just calm down and wait for chassis 2 of WP7 devices.
Unless you really don't care about what OS you are using, just switch and move on, hardware wise its definitely the way to go....
Thank you all for your valuable replies. I agree wp7 can be better in the future but hardware wise HTC sensation is the way to go. Alright I will be putting my hd7 up for sale.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Do i love my HD7? The answer is YES, OF COURSE...
I owned an HD2 before i bought HD7. HD2 is an amazing phone, and HD7 is the same since they have almost the same hardware (even same errors...). I knew that they had already hacked successfully WP7 on HD2, but i just couldn't wait. I sold my HD2 and then bought the HD7. I totally love it.
HTC sensation has a really good hardware (at least it has the dual-core CPU), and Android is not bad. I just get used to the WP7. I don't think i will change the phone for at least 1 year, until HTC pull out something running WP7, i will consider about it.

I agree with everything you said there.. I owned a HD2, which i thought was fantastic.. I'm just an MS fanboy and have to have the latest and greatest they do.. So as of now i have a HD7 and love it.
I hear what you are saying about the Sensation, but that is still not released. If you take a look at what is going on at MIX11 you will see that the new specs for chassis 1 it specifies Qualcom MSM8x55 chipsets which are a generation ahead of what's in the HD7 now, so quicker OS and GFX (even quicker than it is now!!!). It'll outperform the Sensation even with a older chipset
Hopefully looking forward we'll see an adoption of the QSD8x72, putting WP7 shoulder to shoulder with its Android bretheren in hardware.. We all know that speed wise WP7 is killer!

edit:
Take a look here:
http://www.qualcomm.co.uk/products/snapdragon
It shows that the MSM8x60 chipset is indeed going to be used for WP7 handsets..
I'd keep using the HD7 and take advantage of all the wonderfulness that it exudes and wait for the SUPER hand sets coming in the future.

Ya... Samsung Omnia 7 sux big time.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
The HTC sensation is a great looking phone but it runs Android and as much as I love Android, it doesn't have the fluidity of WP7 and I love the fact that the OS and UI works perfectly well with the hardware for the most part.
As much as I love Android, there is generally no balance....The software never fully balances with the hardware...leaving a half-done and disappointing experience.
That being said, I am contemplating a switch BACK to android for the xperia play.
I say wait for WP7 to get the 2.5 GHz Quad Cores when ever they come out.

The beauty of WP7 is that it is perfect on single core processors. Dual-core and quad-core processors will drain the battery faster but as WP7 is already super-fast, they won't add anything to the user experience, thus rendering them a bit pointless TBH.
I would much rather just see the 1GHz processor-based phones drop in price and maybe get more efficient batteries, as battery power is the biggest issue facing WP7 phones, not processor speed.

The Quad is supposed to get better battery life than the HD7's single core. According to the press release, 75% less battery draw,
To meet this challenge, Qualcomm created its next generation architecture and integrated four new, low-power CPU cores and its advanced Adreno® graphics into the APQ8064, enabling it to offer twelve times the available performance as well as 75 percent lower power than the first generation of Snapdragon processors.
