I was playing project INF, and now all of a sudden when I slide my trackball to the right, I dont feel that "grrr" vibration
It's hard to used it now as well, it feels like im not slidding it.. but it only happens to the right.. when I slide: up/down/left, it has the "grr" vibration/sound.
Any way to fix this?
maybe your not doing it right, or fast enough or you need to replace it... does the trackball still go right though?

u might have dirt or sumthing stuck under your track ball. i do this routine once in a while.. i take a clean cloth and put my trackball on it and rub it around.. this will help keep the trackball clean.
Thank you guys, somehow it got fixed -_-
lol well whatever, better for me
Thank you for trying to help out.. and I will do as you guys stated if it stops working again.
I remember the days on trackball mice when the rollerball would get clogged with crud. Just little bits of dust and hair over a few months would add up. Than you would have these little dust pads that would cause the mouse cursor to not move and such. I think its the same for these trackballs.
I usally take a dust spraycan and push the trackball down and give it a short blast of air. Seems to do the trick for me. Or just blow on it. But dont blow and spit...

I have a new Tilt and this weekend I have been messing around with various touch programs. I noticed a clicking sound on the back of my device when I hold it a certain way.
To recreate the issue, turn your phone over and press your finger onto the back right above the speaker and on the same horizontal line with the GPS stud. On my phone it presses in very slightly and makes a clicking sound. All other areas of the phone back seem solid.
Does anyone else with a Tilt/TyTnII have this? Is it a design flaw or is it just my phone?
thanks.
k im kinda confused at what ur doing. I'll try to help but be more specific. Is the screen opened or closed? What program are you running? I know if i have the speakers all the way up and my fingers are on back of the device i get a scratchy noises but i wouldn't call it clicking.
hmm i tried to follow and i dont seem to be having that problem.
Yea, mine does it too. Actually, I have 2 tilts. The older one does it, but the newer one does not do it. It's so minor that some people might not even be able to reproduce it, since it is so minor. Very trivial if you ask me.
Yeah it doesn't appear to be a huge deal, I was just curious... it is almost like the battery cover isn't on properly...but it is.
redbandana...I am not talking about a program clicking, i am talking about the back case....with the tilt closed, push in on the back battery cover just above the speakerphone... it seems to push in ever so lightly and make a little clicking sound.
My Tilt case does not make any clicking noises like you report. Probably a "fit and finish" issue. If the battery cover is on properly, it's not something I'd tend to worry about.

Correct. It wasn't even worth a new thread, in my opinion. Sorry.
From searching this forum, I can tell that others are having the same issue I am having. It started out with just a couple keys and now about 50% of my keys require me to push really hard for them to type. It is not a lag issue as covered by another thread. It just feels like the there may be dirt or something under the keys that makes it harder to type. This issue also is not ROM related as I have flashed my device with several ROMS with the same result.
Has anyone had any luck taking apart the keyboard and cleaning underneath the keys? If so -- maybe post some tips on what worked or not.
Thanks.
I'd vote for compressed air
I agree. You might be able to disassemble the phone and take the keyboard out and use compressed air. That would make certain that all the dirt is really out of the board...
A work mate of mine did this the other day. He took it fully apart and cleaned it out with contact cleaner. Ill ask him wether it worked or not but I think it did because I saw him using the phone today.
contact cleaner
I've never heard of contact cleaner. I'll have to try that. After looking at this video for disassembly, it doesn't look like you can get underneath the keys. How did your co-worker do it? Pop off the keys like a laptop keyboard?
I guess some older thread on how to replace Kaiser keyboard will be useful.
Found this
About screen, but went through keyboard also ..

Yes, I found that as well and it was not of much use. The problem is not removing the keyboard from the phone. The problem is getting underneath the keys. You can see the keyboard front/back removed from my attached image. According to this other thread #119, #126, #127 they say it is impossible to get at the keypad underneath.
I might just take a can of compressed air and spray on top of the keys as best I can to see if it helps.

Hmmm, seems that no other way but perhaps replace the keyboard ..
You cant get under the "actual" keyboard without breaking it off the housing. The keys can be pulled off from the top, but the actual buttons are sealed below.
For what little it cost, just replace the whole thing and problems are solved. Just did my son and daughters couple weeks ago.
Im foolish I forgot to ask him about it. Thinking back he may have damaged it lol. He does kind of charge into things and then realise he cant fix it.
Agree with carhigh, just replace the whole thing. Kaiser parts not that expensive nowadays. Just need time to open it up.
I have the same problem. Tried blowing compressed air from the top, but didn't have much success with the keys. I'll probably get a new keypad and replace it!
Sorry if this is a common question but where do people recommend getting kaiser parts? My N key and spacebar dont work without pressing it really hard and it's doing my head in!
Cheers.

Your problem will slowly get worse. More and more keys will require extra pressure. Not sure where you could buy a replacement now (the phone is kind of old). After attempting to clean the keyboard, I gave up. I am just using onscreen keyboard program that is included in TPC's ROM. I think it is called finger keyboard. After a little practice, I am actually faster typing on that than I was with sliding the keyboard.
Try this guys - worked for me in fixing my S key:

Ah. Did not realize the keyboard did not come out of the housing...
Hey all, recently my search button randomly presses itself. No, I dont see the color flash or what ever you see when you press a button but at least 2 or 3 times a minuet it will act as if I have pressed the button and search will come up... Some sort of new glich? or is my phone going defective? What do you think?
ROM firefly 3.0 that i have been using since it came out, so like a month with NO problems what so ever. Reinstalled FF, still did it, will try a new flash, if that doesnt work will go to stock. and if that doesnt fix it I will get it warranty replaced.... but Im hoping its not hardware...
???
This happened to me! Try reflashing the kernel, or using a different one. Might help
I noticed that when my cappy has a fingerprint or smudge on the search key, it magically will press itself. I also had to modify my invisi-shield to not cover the touch buttons. It happens less now that its not on them, but it still happens.
It was happening over and over and I looked at it and theres a smudge, wipe it clean and viola! This was quite annoying when I was using a rom with the camera mod that redirects it to the search key. The camera was constantly opening, had to run the "fix" to revert it back.
Hope its just as easy as that for you, I was able to duplicate the problem on 3 cappys so far.
this could be a moisture issue. yank the battery and drop the phone in a bag of rice for a day see if that helps. if it still happens flash to stock if it still does it after that its a hardware issue and you should get a warranty replacement if thats an option.
a search would've answered this as i personally have answered this question a few times, also this is a question, for future knowledge those are posted in the Q&A section.
by that do you mean put it in a bad ontop of rice or literally stick it into a pile of rice ( wouldnt that get into the phone)? sorry for such a noob question.
Put the phone in the rice. None if it is small enough to get into the inner workings of the phone but it is AMAZING at soaking up all little bits of moisture.
Would be willing to bet it is a moisture issue. I have the same problem no mayer what rom I am using
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Mine does this quite a lot as well. Most often when the phone is warm while charging. I've noticed holding it in a different position helps diffuse the problem as well. Must be a hardware defect. :-\
so are the chances good that the rice will take care of it? Strange, I never shower or use my phone in wet area's.....
I have squaretrade... do they swap it out or what is the precedure for getting a new phone from them if it doesnt work if you know by chance, if not, Ill just google it on the website
Hello!
I've heard that HTC's have very good build quality, and I've had my IS for just over a week now, and I've noticed 'creaks'. At first I thought it was the screen, but I've now realised it's the back cover that creaks sometimes. If I were to replace the back/get a protective case such as a 'Barely There Casemate' would that stop the creaking? I tried to post a link but am too new to.
Also, I noticed this when I first bought my phone and put the battery in, the battery fits in, but has a bit of a 'bounce' to it. If that makes sense. I thought it wasn't fitting in properly, but it does, just not RIGHT against the phone... if that makes any sense. Dunno if that would contribute to the creaky back, or whether that's normal.
Also, how can I get my LED to stay on longer when I get a text message? It's a handy feature, but it seems to stop flashing after about 20mins, which is a bit of a pain if I don't look at my phone for longer than that.
... and last but not least, Angry Birds. Whenever I open any of the games, they freeze at the home screen. I then have to hit home and reopen them, get to the next menu it freezes, I hit home and do the same routine till it eventually starts working. What's the deal? I thought about maybe reinstalling them, but surely each of the games wouldn't have installed incorrectly?
THANKS ALL.

I put a BodyGlove 2 piece case on my IncS and I do not notice the back sweaking anymore.
Oh, so the squeaky back is a common thing then?
Not for mine, I wonder if the problem is because one hasn't snapped the back on correctly.
It's definitely on properly. I've gone over the back a few times just to make sure it's clipped into place, so I dunno why it should do it.
Mine makes a noise at the bottom left corner of my case, got to admit its rather annoying. But i guess the majority of phones will unless its 100% flush with each other. Even when i put my otter case on it sometimes makes a noise.
The back on my phone is sometimes creaky as well. Since it's a malleable plastic, I'm guessing the weather/putting back on a certain way affects how squeaky or not it gets.
Ahh, okay, that settles it with the back then. Will just get a case. I need one any to give it a bit of protection, but it will hopefully stop the creaking. Am guessing the battery isn't a problem either if it's working in the phone... just me being a bit pedantic.
Anybody know if I'm able to make the LED stay on longer after receiving a text/notification?
OH! I've worked out what's going on with Angry Birds. Am presuming/hoping this is just an app problem. Basically, if I load the game and put the phone into landscape mode, the game won't work. I have to either hit home, or, spin the phone round into portrait mode, and then I can use the game. I then spin it back, choose the next menu and then put it back into landscape mode and then back again to get to the next setting/menu. It's a bit of a pain! Anyone know what's going on with that?
Thanks for all the replies so far.
Sorry for the bump. Anyone go any ideas for the game freeze and LED?
My milestone has led a pampered and then rough life of music gigs and festivals back and forth and decided to give up it's ghost (or give me ghost-touches if you will) due to a failing digitizer after a Dillinger Escape Plan gig (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyzQgysUOdU I'm right in the center of the mosh pit hehe).
I've since decided that I'd save a little more money and get a Galaxy Nexus, even if I'd very much prefer a Droid4 if only to have a proper QWERTY slider phone. They don't sell them here .
Anyway, being that I've had to continue using my POS (can you tell I'm pissed) phone, I decided to look for a way to disable the touch screen and see how feasible it is to control with only the keypad and a few touches.
Which led me to these 2 apps
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.argotronic.touchblocker
Screen Lock / disable touch Argotronic
I've had it set up so that I can "lock" the touchscreen via shaking the device, and unlocking the screen in the same way. Despite disabling the touchscreen, the notification pulldown still remains active, so you can still pull it down and quickly tap yourself to whatever via the Dpad if necessary.
Now, of course, what use is all this if you can't swipe to unlock your ****?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jiubang.goscreenlock
Go Locker
This, apart from still bringing up the stock lockscreen whenever you restart your phone (this goes away after 1-2 unlocks), solves that problem by allowing you to unlock your phone via long pressing the volume rocker.
I've found that it is entirely feasible to run the phone this way.
Apart from that, I bid this community a farewell as what little regular posting I used to do has already dropped tremendously the last few weeks, and much thanks to everyone who has helped me and the developers. <3 Kabaldan, get a galaxy nexus please! though I'd suppose your talents would be better suited to another poor locked up phone.
This community helped me get quickly familiar with Android, and in particular with a "difficult" phone, and I will never forget this. I'll probably get a new digitizer + keyboard and just put it on my desk as a... completely over powered clock. or something. Hey, when was the last time you said overpowered when talking about the Milestone?
Oh, and to solve the gig/festival problem so my Gnex doesn't meet a similar fate I'll be getting an Xperia Active as a secondary phone since that **** is hard as nails, waterproof, small (3") and reasonably priced.
EDIT: Reason I'm not just fixing up my Milestone to continue to use it is because I've always suspected that my mobile radio is a little faulty as I've always had trouble maintaining 3G+ connectivity/sync, I figure it'll just crap itself out eventually. It's also, and I'm sure most will agree, starting to become painfully slow hahah.
If you are willing to take a little risk, after taking out battery, SIM card and microSD card, worm up your phone by putting it in the oven over a towel or on a blow heater (yeah, for real) for a few minutes. Then, you will need to put it in a dry place (like drawer or something) during the night. Turn it up in the morning and it shall work.. it worked for me anyway, I was sure my phone was dead and the digitizer was damn busted.. it must have been moist from the inside, so I used to have very annoying ghost screen..
good luck mate..

Hmm, I completely forgot about this!
I had done some drying with a hairdryer, I had originally noticed that the ghost-touches would get more severe if it spent an hour or two in my pocket, but completely forgot about trying it to dry it a different way. I'll put in a bag of rice tonight!
Thanks
Putting your device in the oven could really fix your problem. I've heard of this before in a different context (fixing gaming consoles..). What it does is fixing soldering points by melting them. Connections between cables and the board are then (hopefully) fixed again.
There are several methods including the oven, microwave, hairdryer and so on..
moe6 thank you for you post
will try the screen lock app
i have no need for the go locker, with cm7 you can unlock the phone by sliding the keyboard.
i have two questions
how can i answer/end a call easily without the screen?
is there any way to have a back button routed to the key board?
i use "search+z" to start(swich) back to my launcher
i guess i will try the oven trick but i really concerned if i will break the milestone completely. should survive a few week.
that poor old thing

Good thing you thanked the top post, I would've missed your post otherwise .
Yeah I know you can unlock via keyboard slide but I have my phone caseless and its always in my pocket and it tends to slide open just enough to unlock it occasionally .
I answered calls by using the d-pad on the keyboard. Just tap it once and it should begin highlighting buttons on the screen, press d-pad center button to select. Unfortunately for you, my back button did still work as the "dead" part of my digitizer was on the right side of the phone where Home and Search is.
I think the drying tricks help mostly with ghost touches since I'd assume that the ghost touches are from small amounts of water/sweat/liquid. After drying it with a hairdryer, short bit in the oven and then stuck in a bag of rice, my ghost touches stopped 80% from what they were before. The digitizer is still dead on one side though.
Now all I need is a Droid/Milestone dock and a new digitizer so my old Milestone can live its life out as a very complicated desk clock
You can actually make it work real good without much issue. You'll need a CM ROM so you can enable the Menu to unlock option and then use v6 Supercharger Bulletproof Apps to lock the screen disabling software into memory so it doesn't crash and it doesn't run bad at all. Also, there is a really good app to remote control your phone from your computer so if you have adb and a data cable, you can get it working good.
Do you know what that app is called?
