I Do have a HTC gene p3400i. It doesnt have a wifi onboard so I ordered the spectec sdw 821.
I would like to know as to whether it works well and another area of concern was about the memory. Does sdw 821 have an memory of its own as it would occupy my SD slot I would hardly be left with 80 mb of phone memory..
I would appreciate if anybody can guide me in this regards..

I have only installed the maps on my storage card and the UK plus (covers UK in detail plus EU major routes) is about 200MB. France is about 250. So It really depends on how many countries you will need ... I have a my memory 2GB from mymemory.co.uk - no problems so far and cheap too...

Yes I have installed TT5 on the device itself - it doesn't take up too much space.
I have used various SD cards which have all been ok. at the moment I am using a "mymemory 2GB Hi-speed card" which work very well.
My 2 penneth worth on this is that I have a bog standard UK map on a 256mb card, and it works fine, although I've since found, that after booking a holiday to France this summer, and acquiring the France map, it requires a 512mb card
My advice? Buy a 512mb card MINIMUM to save the hassle later!
I have been using a 256 card with just the basic maps, but after getting the pluss maps it started to get hangups on tt5. In the end I got a 1G Vicking card for £30, If you peal the label off it has toshiba under it. mmmm I know that thay are much more than 30 quid. so i will be investing in a few more. And the 1G sd solved the problems. :lol:

Yes, the HTC Alpine supports the 4GB specification! I use one from Extreme Memory!

I'm presently running Toflock WM6 and wanted to install the biggest possible SD card so I can put TT6 UK & Europe plus tons of other stuff without swapping cards.
I was advised in the Hima forum that there were SDHC patches which would enable SDHC. So based on this advice I just bought an Adata 8GB card.
I've tried several patches and nothing works, even the non-HC cards stop working and I have to re-install the Extrom prog to bring it back
So has anyone managed to get a class 6 SHDC card running yet ? If so with what rom etc.

i am sorry to tell u this but SDHC is not possible on any Hima YET !!..i released 2 or maybe 3 Patches my self but none of them work...users cant even run 4GB and u bought 8GB..hope its refundable
Okay, I'll just have to keep an eye out for threads about SDHC updates.
In the meantime the Adata 8GB SDHC card will have to serve as a healthy sized flash drive to swap movies / mp3s with friends/family etc.
I've noticed 'non-SDHC' 4gb 50x speed cards on ebay. Has anyone got positive experience of slower speed 4GB cards like this??

Decent 4 GB SD cards from well known manufacturers cost approx. 20 €/$

It's a Transcend card
I've got an A-Data 4-Gb, pink stiker (it says: myflash, 150x turbo SD 4gb Adata) and it's working well (sure not at 150x, maybe 1x ). To be fair, I have tryed several ones diferent sizes and the bigger they are slower they work, not only on the PDA but in the PC as well.
Have you testet read/write access to the whole 4gb? As far as I know, you can use these cards, but you have no access beyond 2gb.
4GB CARD
I am working with Transcend 4GB Card and the speed is great , No problem at all.
I also use a Transcend 4GB SD and it works great. You can access the full 4Gb. I watch many tv series in my himalaya with tcpmp.
As I said full access to the 4Gb card. I used to travel with my 100Gb 2,5 USB HD, some times I thinks it's a shame there is no app to get acess to it through a kind o USB cable, wuold you imagine?

Last weak i ordered the Diamond and the site said 265mb+ SDCard slot, now it says 4096 mb and no sd card slot. I called them they said it could have been a fault on the site.
On the internet i read different stories, a Diamond with microSD slot and without... Although on the HTC site i only see 1 and that is with the 4 gb internal storage.
I am from holland, maybe there are different versions of the phone and this might help..
Anyone knows if the diamond has only one or both of these 'functions'?
Edit: i'll receive it tomorrow but i got to know if its 4gig or 265mb because i have to sign the contract tomorrow..
When in doubt, trust the manufacturers site - they usually know, what they build into their devices.
Definitely no expansion slot, "just" 4GB internal storage.
The Diamond has 4GB internal memory. The Pro version with the sliding keyboard has a microSD card slot

i did not even notice they had all that crap on there! lol
but thats interesting, about the microsd expansion slot anyway, because when the diamond was first rumoured to exist, it apparently did have a microsd slot, but htc chose to remove it. correct me if im wrong i dont think there are any variations of the diamond that have an expansion slot do they?

as far as i know diamond has no microSD slot. it's only Touch Pro to have this slot
