Hey i am somewhat of a noob...so dont go hard on me lol
i am running cyanogen 4.04...........
however my phone seems to reboot periodically at random times...when i least expect it my phone has either restarted or in the middle of rebooting? Im hoping this isnt a hardware issue...any suggestions on how i can fix my phone?
My phone started doing those kernel panics(random rebooting) when I went to the expermental line, something is causing a big oppsies and instead of force closing, it is crashing the system. So reboot, make nandroid backup, wipe, reflash rom, if problem persits, try different rom

ok thanks...yea i didnt try a wipe...im not sure how to do a nandroid backup is that necessary? but yea i hope this fixes the problem because those random reboots are annoying as ****!
Oh extremely annoying, to do a nandroid backup, just click on it in the recovery, not really important but it is a nice little fall back on

Hey, no problem, I am here to help, where is david, that boy is like a damn machine, constantly answering ?s , I can barely keep up with you man, you must have been trying that whole sleep thing, well I am drunk, let see if I can get this ho in ny bed to act right, I really need that ring, man, but 19.99 is kind of expensive, damn being a pimp in training, my pimp hand ain't strong enough. Yet
One more thing to check if gridlock's solution doesn't work.
Use a sharp knife to scrape the battery terminals both on the battery and phone, If those get dirty then your phone might be loosing power periodically.

Hey guys,
I stupidly dropped my phone in water and awaiting it to dry out, i cant take it back to the store yet as havent changed the ROM back as cant see the screen. Is there anyway of doing it without having to know off by heart the on screen instructions. The screen doesnt seem to repond to anything either. I get the vibrate to tell me its on and that about it, sometimes the SE logo in full oclour before it all blurs and becomes a mash of colour.
I have the stock ROM ready to upload (as kindly retrieved from here) but dont know how to go about changing it now.
Cheers

I say, do it by yourself !
First buy the LCD screen (example) Then watch this video and go on, just be gently and organized
Normally I would fully charge the phone before flashing anything, but since Cyanogen just released his new 4.1.6, I wanna flash it right away ! My battery has 67% left. Can I plug the phone into the charger and flash it ?
Thanks in advance
Yes, you can charge your phone and flash at the same time. I always do.
I can't tell you from a tech perspective if it's okay but I can speak from personal experience that it doesn't do any bad. I do it all the time
the only reason they say to have a fully charged battery is so that during the flashing process your phone will not die and possibly leave you with a brick but as yellow (ffff00) said you can flash with your phone charging. i always do too.
Lol, yes you can . Have fun with new version.

oooooh you say it so sternly. how do you know have you tried flashing a rom when you have 31% and it went fine, but when you did it at 30% it died lol. actually i have read this as well.
I never flash while charging. I'm too paranoid of power surges causing a flash to go ugly. And I've had equipment on good quality surge supressors die from power surges before so I don't trust those either.
Therefore, battery power flashes only for me
Flashing with the cable is always the best way to go.. If something goes wrong you are going to have to plug it in anyway
But i have not had any problems thus far.
I see most of the Rom now request the you should have atleast 50% battery life left

get your RUU and WM butt outta here, this is Android, a system that doesn't treat it's users like idiots...... hehe sorry, I do NOT miss using RUU on my HTC Kaiser. I hated the fact that it absolutely would NOT flash your phone unless you had at least 50% batt.

i just wanted to make this thread to warn people. my phone just broke. wont turn on. and i have tried everything!!! the same thing happened to mssmison's old phone. and we think its just from flashing so many times that we just wore out the rom. i have probably (no lie) flashed my phone 60 times if not more. so i just wanna let everone know to go easy on the flashing as you may eventually break your phone!!!
i honestly dont think android messed it up i just wore the phone out.
android is not the cause of my phone crashing. so you can flash android to your phone, just dont go all buckwild on it and flash it like a fat guy at dunken donuts

Someone PLEASE give me some good proper settings for the SetCPU. I have VEGAn TAB Gingerbread Edition 7.0. Kernal Version says: 2.6.32.36-cyanogenmod [email protected] #1.
I know someone on here is using this...so let me know how to set this up using my G Tablet.
I want faster performance at the same time...extending battery life a little. Either way..nothing to make it overheat tho.
Let me even know the specs i posted will work with SetCPU. Thanks.
Performance and battery life are opposites. You have to underclock to get more battery life.
Oh.. and it's a kernel not kernal.
Sent from my GB Galaxy Tab using Tapatalk.
Typo in my spelling. But theres a middle where you can set to get a little of each. Anyway...anyone??????????
Not gonna happen. If you do anything to make it faster it increases power consumption, period. The On Demand governor, default, does the best job of letting you go 100% when you want and drop to a low freq when you are idle.

Ok..are you using this? Would you know any good settings for this GTab? I dont wanna do anything and overheat it or put the wrong settings and stuff. You know. Any bad side effects?
Edit: Dumb question but...if i use this plugged in alot...in my room..then all the power it uses would be for the good right? can't kill the battery then.
Edit 2: One more question..if there was something you didnt like about it...does just uninstalling it put your phone right back to how it was? Or a little more tweaking you need to do before you uninstall?

As I recall, running VEGan 7.0 I used SetCPU no higher than 1.2 w/interactive. No noticeable drag or heat. Perhsoot builds great kernels but I seem to recall using Blades or Clemsyn but could be wrong. Unless you find a way to clock so far out of parameters (voltage/speed) I seriously doubt you can irreparably fry your GTab. Using the wrong power adapter would be more likely to nuke a tab. IMO.
Using plugged in logically it's a wash as you use what you charge. I'm no expert in electronics. Others may have more input here.
I have always re-flashed ROMs to reset. That way you know you cover the custom kernel. Some have had success flashing only the kernel. YMMV.
Always proceed after a good backup!

Thanks alot for the reply. See...i don't flash or anything like that. Haven't took the time to learn it..when i know i need to.
I was hoping no kind of reflashing was involved. So your saying uninstalling it may not put things back like it was?
Also curious on this one..that "Set to Boot" thing..if you DON'T check that...does that mean whenever you reboot...it goes back to normal? And you have to open SetCPU again and again to set it up?
And of course checking it would mean it stays that way i guess. Just heard a few weird stories that you can't uninstall it. But even if i do..wanted to seriously know if everything will go back like it was. Thanks again.

Not a problem. We were all noobies at one time!
Flashing sounds like trouble but if/when done right it's simple. Trust me, you will one day laugh at remembering how anxious you were about it.
Check your other post. Doing a nandroid backup thru CWM will make a FULL BACKUP of everything on your GTab as it is right now. It's way simple to do really and can save your ass if something goes wrong.
Set To Boot means just what you think. If you leave it unchecked your GTab will revert to stock speed. Set To Boot means when your GTab reboots it goes back to overclock speed you set.

Yea..had a feeling thats what the BOOT part meant. Just wanna be sure. And the ROM manager thing..im getting ALOT of negative things about it working NOT good with the GTab. Even my thread on here has a few people saying that. My gut keeps telling me when i try this...something will go wrong...then ill thing " Why did i have to try this..there was nothing wrong with my Tablet before this". You know. That lil voice.
Thats true about how we are were the same at one time. I hate when certain people think they never were. Funny.
Are there teps to nandroid backup without that ROM Manager? I want the easiest way possible.
Plus...how can i tell which Bootloader i am...you know..they say its either 1.1 or 1.2. I bought mine already flashed. Cant get ahold of the dude to ask him.

OK. How to tell what bootloader you have....here.
Install CWM Guide here.
CWM is the only way I know of to do a complete nandroid backup. Installing CWM just for that makes it indispensable.
ROM Manager on the GTab is iffy at best. Works well on other tablet but not so much on GTab. I used it for informational purposes only.
I know that "little voice". We all have heard it. But having a full backup helps quiet it. I would not suggest you get to tweaking until you have a nandroid backup via CWM. That dreaded "something" will go wrong. It happens to most all on here who want to learn. Nothing like a soft bricked tablet to motivate one!
Just a suggestion. Before you get in too deep. Spend a week or so just reading the forum. Learn to use the Search function (It will save your butt many many times). Keep your threads condensed. (Two SetCPU threads can be confusing) and keep reading...
Oh, and relax. Pretty much whatever one does to a tablet can be fixed. I said "pretty much"! lol

So, to check which branch you are on if you are on STOCK: Go to Settings -- About Tablet -- Tapu UI Version.<<< I dont see that Tapu UI anywhere in my About Tablet. Hmmm. But i am running VEGAn TAB. I DO see Build Number: GRI40.
When in read how to check the bootloader thing..he did say something like ' If i have a lock screen..i must be on 1.2. I DO have a lockscreen. So 1.1 doesnt have any lock screen when the Tablet starts up????
But just a weird question...wouldnt i already have CWM if i have VEGAn TAB on here already?? I thought yes. I DO wanna speed this baby up a little bit. Doesnt have to be SUPER fast. Just a little faster startup and faster when i click apps or menu stuff. I want a Motorola Xoom soon. Wanna sell and trade up stuff for it.
I also wouldnt mind VEGA n TAB 7.1...i think they said the Camera works in that version for Skype and other stuff..not sure. Im a paranoid person with certain things in life. I guess this is one of em. Weird...im good with computers. Programs and stuff a little bit.
Guess i should just DL SetCPU and run it..just dont click set on BOOT.
Edit: WOW..those steps in how to install CWM is point on. Thats what i like...the DUMMY style step by step. Every word. You know..until we learn how to do it. Some people would explain..then say a certain word and ill be lost. That one was good. Thanks alot for the kind words and help. I really appreciate it.
Edit 2: I can put the zoip to CWM onto the internal SD of the GTab right? Even if theres alot of stuff already in it???
Edit 3: In the CWM folder i downloaded...i see the update.zip...zipped..and a folder that says Recovery. Strange..in the steps to install CWM...it says everything but it doesnt say what to do with this folder...even tho i think it should be in there no????

No. I used it on a different tab that I wanted to underclock to get battery life. The Galaxy tab is fast enough that I dont desire to overclock, so cpuset is useless to me.

So I went to look check my phone, and it slipped from my hand, tried grabbing it, Felt like slow-mo, and just missed it, and watched it fall into the deep fat fryer, So I then had to watch it cook for 4 mins at 240°C.
Obviously turn of the fryer, and tried to dig out with tongs.
The interesting thing is it still works! Tad greasy, absolutly EVERYTHING work, Apart from the speak, So its now useless as a phone :/
Is the speaker user replaceable?

well, that's a pretty interesting story, man.
do you mean the speaker is broken or the microphone? you'll probably be able to get it repaired by samsung assuming you have a warranty on it.
With respect, would you really trust a phone, even repaired that you DEEP FRIED for 4 minutes? Be lucky you can get your data off it and buy a new phone!

In all honesty, funkyblue is right. Get what data/contacts you can (if not backed up to google) and get yourself a new phone. If your headset port isn't caked up with grease then maybe you can use it as a glorified MP3/music player.
How on earth did the battery not die?
Forget the speaker, I think the main thing we are all curious about is...do you eat a deep fried SGS with ketchup, or malt vinegar?
Post the pics
BAHAHAHAHA (sorry!), this is the funniest title since someone deep froze their sgs (iirc).
But as to your question, I wouldn't be surprised if the speaker is replacable, iirc its a modular component!
EDIT: wait, was it 454 or 240 degrees? Big difference
or you can keep it and use phone with bluetooth headset???
Pictures have now been added, Sorry for the delay!
The speaker is now working albeit very quietly, There is this greasy ring inside the camera when taking a picture, Guessing oil is trapped in there.

Love the simcard
May I respectfully suggest that coating the phone in batter next time will offer a degree of protection, and add immeasurably to the taste and texture!

let's wait for icecream sandwhich, and then someone should try it again, and then let's check, which one tastes better...
