hi there, i flashed my htc touch diamond with energy ROM, everythings goes well.
I tried to connect my htc touch diamond to my car's audio (which can support USB storage) for musics. It can play the musics, but after i disconnect my diamond, i found that my diamond cannot detect the "internal storage" anymore, and yet i can detect it when i connect my phone to my pc.
Anyone here know how can this happened and how to solve it?
When i checked the memory setting for my diamond.
It shows that the "storage card is not installed"
By default, when the Diamond is set to be used as a Disk Drive (one of the USB connection options), you are unable to see the internal storage on the phone until you disconnect the USB cable.
Now that leads me to believe that when you connect it to your car audio it is connecting as a disk drive. When you unplug it though, it is not registering the disconnection and still thinks its connected via disk drive.
Did it work fine prior to flashing the energy ROM? If so, flash back to Stock ROM and make sure it is working again. Also, may be worth asking this in the Energy ROM thread.

Thanks for your explaination, bro.
I flashed back to the stock rom, the problem still presists.
I connect my phone to the pc again and format my internal storage and reflash my ROM again. It works. Everythings turn back to normal.
Lesson learnt:-
No to connect your diamond to your car audio's USB.

My Trinity device is not recognized by any of my 3 pc's using any of USB ports. The problem started when I wanted to try a different ROM. I currently have 20070418_RUU_Trinity_LVSW_WWE_1.25.0.8 installed. I wanted to install img-32424-mUn_1_25_AKU3_5 but during the reboot after the ROM transfer the connection failed for the USB connection, after which I gave up and thought well let's try again and soft resetted the device. However I was never able to get a Active Sync session going again. The OS is still booting fine so I feel I am trying to fix something which is not entirely broken. I also tried the suggestion for flashing from SD card, but that did not load the TRINIMG.nbh file as I hoped (and read) it would. So I have a IR connection and possibly a bluetooth connection (I left my bluetooth module at work so I cant test this) Will this be my free ticket out of jail? Thanks for your input.
I seem to remember something about someone loosing USB connectivity after installing and messing with the GPS icon. This probably won't help but I would try in your case.
Start>Settings>Connections>GPS
Program Port>None
Hardware Port>None
Baud>9600
Check manage GPS automatically
Exit & turn phone off
Turn phone back on
Doesn't work?
You are no worse off
Works?
Reset hardware port to Com 9
Uncheck manage automatically
Leave program port to off
Set GPS software to com 9 9600
tried it, but didnt work.
Does the USB connection work in bootloader mode by any chance? (Hold the power and camera buttons down and reset with the stylus).
Try to delete the ActiveSync partnership on both the PDA and computer and then reestablish it ... it may have nothing to do with USB at all.
Problem went away after I forgot to turn off the PDA while it was connected to the wireless. It apparently didnt switch itself of because it was dead when I tried to turn it on. After charging it for a while I could turn it on, and as by a miracle the USB interface finally connected properly with my laptop. It didnt give the error "Windows has encountered an unknown device on your USB port" So thanks for all your input sofar.
Hello Friends,
I got a new HTC Touch Diamond about two days ago. I'm very eager to transfer my songs to it and when I tried to do so by connecting the phone to the system in 'Disk Drive' mode, it didn't work.
Each time I would connect the phone to my system and select the Disk Drive mode, the below would happen:
1. I'll see a 'New Disk Drive found' notification in my system tray.
2. The add new hardware wizard would come up with a message stating that there was a problem installing the new drive.
These two steps would keep on repeating untill I unplug the phone.
Though, I can connect the phone in ActiveSync mode without any issues.
If anyone of you has faced this issue, please let me know what needs to be done? Am I missing something?
Note: I had an older version of ROM (ROM version: 1.93.720.2) when I got the phone and I updated to ROM version: 1.93.720.4. I faced this issue both the times.
I have never used the disk drive mode. This restricts you from doing many things. I would suggest transferring all your files through activesync in the normal "Explore" way. This way may take a bit longer to transfer your files, but you can also sync them (the music ones) with your pc if you have Vista.....

I agree that it applies a few restrictions, however, transferring files via this mode is much faster.
I appreciate your reply, yet I need to get the disk drive mode working.
Thanks,

try changin another usb port, i suspect the port is faulty.. or change another cable.. i encounter such issue before and it turn out dat my usb port is acting weird..
Is possible to have an issue with windows drivers.
If the phone is working in active sync mode with the same port and cable, is not that.
While is connected as Disk Drive in device manager in USB section are you seeing it as storage?
If is there try from computer management\disk management to see if the partition from the phone is ok.
Best regards,
[SOLVED] Not able to connect diamond to system in 'Disk Drive' Mode Reply to Thread
This problem is solved for me now.
It appeared that the problem lay with my system and not the phone. I removed unneccesary programs and "cleaned" my system by using a trial version of System Mechanic v8.
I tried connecting after and now both disk drive mode and activesync mode work for me.
Thanks,
Hey guys! Umm, i've got a pretty big problem. My touch diamond doesn't connect to the pc. The pc doesn't recognise it at all when I plug in the USB-cable . The phone asks me if i want to use active sync or just plug it in normally for fast transfer, but it doesn't matter which one i press. It doesn't work . It worked 2 days ago, but now it doesn't work. And i'm really not sure why. And when I try to load my phone, by plugging it in to a normal plug, this comes up " choose between active sync and fast connection to pc " or something like that. So, I have to turn off my phone when i want to load it. So ... HELP PLEASE ?!!!!
Sounds to me like you need to do a hard reset. (will wipe phone storage so backup first).
With the phone on press the volume down + centre button keys and while keeping them pressed use the stylus to press the reset button.
If after the hard reset it still doesnt work flash a stock ROM.
Sorry for asking, might be a really noob question, but how do I backup the files? And i have the original 1.93 winmob 6.1 rom
Backup any notes/images/music/videos that are on the phone memeory to your internal storage using file explorer.
Backup your contacts/calendar/texts/emails using Pim Backup to your internal storage card.
Then do the hard reset.
Tyvm for the help =)
I have the same problem. I can connect it as a pen drive, but not via AS (cable). But I can connect it via BT and can be synced. It is happening only on 64 bit notebook. On 32 bit it works fine...
Dodgy cable in my instance
I was having exactly the same problem, but it was using an HTC cable that is quite the worse for wear. When I use a standard USB - miniUSB cable (such as the one that came with my PS3) it works fine.
There is also a Hotfix on HTC's website to get rid of the problem where plugging into the mains brings up connection options.
Hope it helps!
Meister, thank you for the help. I just switched cable to an ordinary usb that isn't the original htc cable and it worked! Thanks
Glad to be of help!
Hello everyone, I have been using this forum for a while now, but havent really posted anything much as I have always found answers to any questions through searching the threads, however, I am unable to find a solution to a problem I have just recently encountered and was hoping someone out there may be able to shed some light on it.
I am using an unbranded handset running JPO which has been performing superbly until today, however, when I connect the phone via USB to my PC and select mass storage the computer does not seem to recognise the phone is plugged in. The strange thing is it worked perfectly before and the only changes I have made since was upgrading the micro SD card to a 16 gig one. I try unmounting the external card and even removing it completely to no avail. I have tried the phone on 3 PCs now, even my Linux PC does not recognise it.
I have rebooted the phone, tried connecting selecting Kies mode instead of mass storage, all to no avail. As soon as I connect the USB to the computer, the phone recognises the connection and asks what I want to do, I select mass storage, then I get the option to mount via the little green android, which turns orange stating it is connected, but the phone just does not show on the pc.
Any ideas would be most welcome, I don’t really want to have to format the internal memory but I think I may have to.
Many thanks in advance.
Additional:
I seem to remember on Eclair that I was able to unmount the internal sd card in the settings menu, however, with froyo, I only have the option to unmount the extrernal sd card. Would someone running JMO be good enough to check and see if they have the otion to unmount the internal sd?
Right, I seemed to have found the problem, so for anyone else who has a similar experience, it was the USB lead. SGS working as it should agian, phew..
I am having issues with the activation of USB Mass Storage mode on CM7 v7.10. When I first connected my nook (just got it yesterday), I was able to enable mass storage mode as per normal. However, after this it's just stopped working!
There's nothing wrong with the cable afaics because the empty drives come up on the PC (Win7) no problem, it's just that the nook doesn't detect that the USB is plugged in and so never gives me the option to enable Mass Storage mode. I have had success once running ROM Manager's 'Fix Permissions' function, but since then it's not made any differences. The issue remains on multiple PCs with multiple cables.
Anyone got any fixes for this issue?
+ can you wiggle the micro-usb end a bit to see if anything better?
+ do you have the "usb debugging" check?
+ do you see the usb icon displayed on the NC notification bar?
- No wiggling makes any difference
- Tried with USB debugging on and off - no difference
- No USB icon (but empty drives still show up on my PC) so there is some kind of connection going on.
If the empty drives do show up on the PC, it definitely some sorts of connection made, it's a good sign.
Now back on your NC, go into Storage, try to Unmount then Remount the uSD and see if it gets any going.
Note: leave the Debugging USB Mode on.
Might also be worth considering moving from 7.1 to the MiRaGe 7.2 build. I'm not saying there is a specific fix but using the later ROM may help and I think most people find it more stable, faster and problem free.
Yeah, I actually updated to KANG 7.2 this avo and the USB Mass Storage option is back!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
I currently having KANG Mirage 7.2 with Tablet Tweak but it did not work. I bought an OTG cable from ebay so I assumed it's bc the OTG cable. The Drive works fine on my laptop but nothing appears on the Nook.
Maybe a re-flash with the same ROM might do the trick?
I'll try to reflash sometime soon!
Will post
uSB mass storage
I had the same issue. Have the USB connected and while connected reboot your device once it has rebooted you'll be able to access the USB files on your device. You'll be able to see the USB signal at the bottom, which you can activate. You'll have to do this most likely everytime you want to access USB storage

I'm on MIRAGE 7.2 running off EMMC. SD card is in the Nook.
I shut nook off, plugged in the cable to my pc and started the nook.
5 drives show up but I cannot access any of them. The USB icon is in the tray on the Nook and it says "USB connected". Just above that it says, "USB debugging connected"
Anybody have any success?
After doing some reading I've decided to use ES-FILE Explorer wirelessly. Its very easy to use. You need to SHARE folders on your PC in order for it to access the files.
Playing around with the USB option some more, I didn't realize that you could TOUCH the message in the notification bar. When you do, it launches a program and from there, you turn the USB connection on or off.
Geeeeeeez........ya learn something new every day.
