You don't need to sync phone to flash. Just put phone into bootloader, connect it via usb cable to pc. (bottom of bootloader should change from 'serial' to 'usb') and then run ruu.exe file
Post future flashing queries in dummies guide thread (sticky at top of this forum)

was flashing and some one caused a communication error- . tried to recovery but was unsuccessful, now iall i see is run, green, blue, and white. is this what you called bricked. what can i do???
No, it is not bricked, with a bricked Wizard you can't either charge or power on it.
Just get another computer with ActiveSync installed (preferably a Notebook computer), and try RUU again.
And MAKE SURE you have already CID-unlock (NOTE: CID unlock is NOT SIM unlock) before flashing custom ROMs, otherwise follow the stickies to flash the Button's ROM and unlock it before proceed.
help

Activesync doesn't work in Bootloaders (multi color screen),but you can flash the phone in Bootloaders mode. While in Bootloaders (Multi color screen),hook your phone with pc via usb cable and watch small usb appear at the bottom of the Bootloaders mode,it confirms connectivity with pc and run the RUU in the Rom ,it'll start to flash. Let it complete and phone will reboot and start to work normal.
I´ve tried several times to run the RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1 but the application says that there isn´t no phone connected.
what i´m i doing wrong?
thx
I messed up my device after cooking a defective rom "I confused some folders", and now my phone stays at the sony ericsson logo.
I don't have and mmc reader in order to put a rom on it.....Can I flash the x1 through the pc on the bootloader screen??
I never do this but this time I'd really appreciate a quick response
Yes you can do it
I had to do it several times when my PC shutdown during flash...
how plz ??....cuz i read how to flash using pc with the update utility but it seems I must first connect through activesync....tell me how you do it plz
Hold the power button down and the volume down button at the same time you will see tri-colored screen...plug into computer run customruu follow prompts...

1-put customRUU and your rom file in the same folder on your PC
2-launch customRUU
3-put your phone on tricolor screen
4-connect your phone to your PC with the USB cable (your phone should displau "USB")
5-follow the instructions in customRUU
It is the same way that you use when you flash with activesync but this time you put your phone on tricolor screen yourself
just put your device in bootloader mode, then connect to PC, the device can identify serial or usb connection in bootloader mode.
Thanks soooooo much everybody, damn I adore this community......
This will help a lot in the future as i get to cook more and more and risk the bricking every time, thanks !!
hey guys, tried flashing my rom, after flashing it boots up in stupid horrible colors and gets stuck on allignment page so doesnt boot completely. Any ideas would be mucho appreciated. thanks
You forgot the flash the 1.56 spl from olinex
Download it. set your device in bootloader, connect via usb and wait for the serial on the bottom white part to turn into usb and fire up the app. Youll probably have to reflash after that but it will work
Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
every time i go to bootloader it wont establish a connection to the computer.......this is the main problem
you don't need any connection to the PC, be it active sync or whatever. just
plug in the phone in bootloader into your usb port, wait for it to show USB and then flash either wirh HSPAL or USPL
but srlry, just read the howto guide!
read the how to guide........im not that dense mate! something just went wrong it happens........even when i try it without establishing a connection to activesync it wont install and says theres an error on the ruu
I hope you're doing this on a XP machine.
Phone in bootloader -> Plug-in USB -> Flash SPL
If you could tell us your step-by-step procedure, it would help us try to resolve your problem.
As above posts have stated. Follow the Dummies Guide and you'll be fine. Please post further flashing queries within that thread

Hi,
I have a Rhodium and so far I have successfully flashed a lot of Roms untill today...
I am trying to flash another Rom via ActiveSync, so I have connected my phone to my PC, than run the CustomRuu.exe like always, but I am stuck at 0%.
I decided to flash using the SDCard and renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to RHODIMG.nbh and than I´ve enter in the BootLoader Mode, the device tries to load the Rom, but I´ve got a white screen saying "loading..." and stays like this forever.
I cannot even HardSPL the device. I run the Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.exe but i can not get the device properly synced.
I though I had an internal memory problem so I´ve formated it using a new tool found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...12&postcount=1.
But now I´ve lost everything and I can not flash any Rom with activesync, always the same problem, stuck at 0% and then the message - "Error [276] : update error.", and if I flash from SDcard a white screen saying "loading..." and stays like this forever.
EDIT:
Can not HardSPL automatic flash, because could not get the device properly synced.
Can not HardSPL with Manual flash, stuck at 0% and then the message - "Error [276] : update error.#
Any help please.
Thanks

Then I assume you already have hard-spl on your device installed. So trying to install it again will fail.
*Go into BootLoader Mode (do a Soft Reset while holding the "volume down" key on the left side of the device. Keep holding the "volume down" key until you see tricolour screen which is the bootloader mode, then release it) and verify the screen shows 0.85.OliNex, which is the HardSPL version* Is this the hard-spl version that you have?
You didn't mention which rom you tryed to flash. Did you try other roms?

Thanks for your reply,
Yes , you are right I have already HardSPL installed - SPL-0.85.0linex.
I have tried several Roms even the Rhodium stock Rom. If I flash via activesync I get stuck at 0% and if I flash from the SDCard (RHODIMG.nbh) I get a white screen saying "loading...." with no action.
This is strange as I´ve flash so many roms so far
Have you reset both your device and computer before connecting?
Just leave it in Bootloader mode and connect it to your computer and then try flashing.
As long as you put the device in bootloader mode, you do not have to get it to sync. I've done this many times when a flash didn't go right for some reason (like I forgot something when I cooked it ).

I did both things with no luck.
I have put the device in bootloader mode connected to the computer then I´ve run the customRUU.exe but I am always stuck at 0%
This is the info I have in the tricolor screen:
RHOD100 32M SS-BC
SPL-0.85.0linex
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
501,529 794,848
797,208 217,213
210,853 Calibrated
I will put the device in the AC power all night to see if this is a battery issue.
Thanks

I would try this first as posted by jeanrivera.
Also maybe you're customruu is somehow broken? Try downloading a new one. Also I don't know if it helps but when you flash via customruu do you have the image named ruu_signed.nbh? I don't know if it matters what kind of name it has, but it's just a thought

try to hard reset the device , this is her guide HTC Alpine hard reset
To perform a full reset
A full device reset clears memory, deletes all data, and restores the Pocket PC Phone to its default settings. Programs installed at the factory remain. All data that you have created and programs you have installed are erased.
Press and hold the Power button, and then use your stylus to press the “soft reset button” at the same time, as shown below. Be sure you have backed up all your data on an SD card or on a desktop PC before performing a full reset. after you hard reset the device, connect to a USB sync and you Flash Room again All you have to remember, allow usb connection .... and not disabled its usb connection Okey if you still have problems you can contact me
Do i need to go into bootloader mode first before flashing?? Cause what i did was, connect it the comp, and while it is stil connected with windows mobile device centre and the phone is still in windows mobile desktop, then i run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, and halfway upgrading, it just turn off n go back to bootloader mode...and then after that, it auto black out after each autoconfiguration.
And by Flash Rom, do you mean just run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe with all the files in it?? or there is something else i should do???
Sorry for my ignorance And ur guidance will be very much appreaciated!!!!

Windows mobile device centre?--Seems to be the Vista/Win7 driver problem. Search for it, using the Search button.
Flashing with Win7/32bit or Vista

EnterBL.exe should reboot the device into bootloader only, Activesync should disable then. You can access bootloader manually, it's more safe
Now i managed to get into bootloader mode and upgrade it.. but the upgrade hangs halfway, the progress stays at 0% and saying it's upgrading radio, but always failed. What's should i do pls?

remove the battery from the device and wait until 10 minutes, then plug it in again and make sure your device go to the bootloader to reflash
next time before you perform the upgrade whether you've unlock device ??
