Vcard Software - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hello guys,
I've recently got a HTC Touch Pro, and i have my contacts from my previous phone (a SE W910i) saved in .vcf form, the problem is that when i send it to my HTC, either by BT or file transfer, when i try to install it i get an error saying that it's not complete, although it's complete, because i've always restored backups to my other phone from it.
Im running a Energy WM6.5 if that's relevant.
Thanks in advance.

You can try import .vcf file into Essential Pim and sync WM with EP, then.

Cheers mate, that fixed it, easiest way to do it.
I'll go a bit into detail in case anyone else is interested.
If you have a vcard with multiple contacts, read on:
Get the program gedik mentioned above.
Get the Pro version which is 30 days full trial, you'll only have to synchs but that will do.
After installing it, import the vcard file in it.
Then, if you have WinXP go here to get Active Synch CLICK and install it.
After installation is done connect your phone, it will install drivers then popup a dialog to synch stuff, you can skip the synch for now.
Now go to EPim and go to syncronise > synch with WM, and after a couple of dialogs you'll have to wait a bit and your contacts will be on your phone (note that it may take a while, and also note that the phone must be connected when you do this, otherwise the synch with WM will fail).
Now, if you want to edit your contacts easily, just go to Outlook/Contacts, and you can edit all you want, when you are done, go to ActiveSynch and select Synchronise and it will update your changes.
Enjoy

Contacts help

Hi all, I had to hard reset my XdaIIi, but I had previously set the permanent save on my contacts, but when it finished setting up I tried to retrieve the contacts but it didnt work
I've also had the phone syncronised with my PC and have the past three partnerships still on it, is there anyway I can retrieve my contacts?
thanks
Whenever I've done a hard reset of my stuff, I've just done an ActiveSync before resetting it or flashing the ROM... When I've got my phone back to working order again on a fresh installation, I've just ActiveSynced again, and bingo - all my contacts, files, calendar, AvantGo files have appeared with no problem.
To do that, I've just set up a new full relationship, and ActiveSync has taken care of the rest. The only thing I've had to backup myself has been my SMSes... Of course, if you didn't have your Contacts selected as one of the things to synchronise with your PC every time you synced, you're straight outta luck.
Hi rmurph17,
 you are not straight outta luck
Do the following if u have already Synced your XDA with outlook before resetting:
1. Delete all your partnerships from your PC's ActiveSync without pluging the XDA
2. Once deleted all partnerships, put ur XDA on cradle which is already connected to PC
3. PC will ask for a new partnership, tell it what do u want to sync and from where & which account e.g. Outlook
It will start syncing once it made the partnership.

... So basically, what I said (see my original reply: " I've just ActiveSynced again, and bingo - all my contacts, files, calendar, AvantGo files have appeared with no problem") - I assumed you'd tried deleting your old ActiveSync partnerships from your PC via the ActiveSync software before attempting to resync again.
Have problem with contacts
I had use Nokia 9210i and use Outlook + plaxo (plaxo.com) to manager contacts.
I have around 10.000 contacts with full detail (numbers, email, website, extra information)
Now I change to XDA mini S and discovered that they can not do the same thing as N9210i.
Just about one forth of my contacts Syns from PC, the Programe Memory of XDA is full.
I am asking many person, searching site to site but no one have same problem.
Everyone, who have experien, please advice me:
1. Can I store the contacts file in SD card but not on the fone (Programe Memory)
2. if 1 not avaiable, Can I expand Program Memory more than 64M?
Thank you so much for help me.
Hi longpt,
I think in your situation u should better give a try to contact Microsoft.

Text messages and flashing

Is there anyway at all to backup text message, upgrade your phone and then put them back onto the device when it's updated? I've had a look through a lot of the files but can't seem to find any text messages, just email messages
I have found Jeyo Mobile Extender for Outlook. However, when I start Outlook 2003 it comes up saying the Add-in has fired an error. I think this is because I run Win Vista though.
If Jeyo really is the only/best way to do it, I'll probably just bung in an old HDD, install XP FLP on it and do everything on there inc. the upgrade, unless there is another way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59169&highlight= have a look there. Sorry I can't help more.
i'd like to ask, is it safe to assume that these messages are all under windows>messaging, and that we can copy these files to our computer through activesync, and put them back after the upgrade?
will our BA be able to read them as text messages?
Thats the location of the email files yes. I'm not sure if just replacing them will work though, that why I'm probably going for the Jeyo software (and it also does SMS which I what I need).
For me, I use Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 for backup my call history & sms. (the stand alone version Not the outlook plug-in, cos in my device the plug-in version is not stable)
backup:
Export >> All (or selection)
restore:
Import >> All (or selection)

Contacts File

Where is the Contacts file on the Tilt?
I am getting an error message when my phone tries to connect to outlook. And after trying to reinstall outlook, I still cannot resolve the issue. I never use outlook, so I am tempted to ignore the problem.
But I want to add about 50 contacts to the phone and it would be a lot easier to do it on my computer. Is it possible to download the contacts file to my computer, edit it, and then replace it on the phone.
thanks

1. welcome to xda-devs
2. search & read the Wiki (it shoudl ALWAYS be the first you do before you ask a q), I've published several articles on how these databases work
in a nutshell: sync with the desktop Outlook, and do the manual work on it. rely on Outlook's syncing to do the trick

WM6.1 ActiveSync with 2 PCs error code 86000107

Hi, there,
Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.
i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.
I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).
i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?
Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.
any fix would be appreciated.
Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?
i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)
I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.
I just did a quick search for error 86000107 and a few people solve the problem by doing this:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.
Hope this helps.
ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...
anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.
shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.
You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)

There are also a lot of discussion on the Artemis Forum re this.
Thanks

cheers, Dave. did try all sorts of deleting partnerships (inc renaming device name), but shall try the registry tweak tonight...
why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.
shall report back.

Not my fix mate.
Have to ask taiseer.
Dave
I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...
How I resolved the 86000107 code error
I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.
BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.
Hope this helps!
sadkosk/safe as milk:
cheers. shall try.
have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.
I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Interesting...

Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:
1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).
NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!
Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...
Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.
Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.
If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool
If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe
Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.
Notes
If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.
I think is wm6.1 not fully compatible on now WMDC or AS.
Try many wm6.1 here.
Similar problem on Vista WMDC, after u sync with 2nd computer, than sync back on 1st computer, it say error on sync.
After I del 2 partnership on both computer, no any problem on both PC sync independently.
eagle 1:
i suspect what you said is correct.
i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.
so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.
many thanks for the tip.
sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).
guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?
Sadly that you waste your time trying to fix this. I posted the result on post #4.
BTW, nothing wrong w/ Outlook 2002, either. I could duplicated your issue while running 2003 and 2007.

ActiveSync 4.5 probs

Recently I've used the recovery dvd to reset my PC. I also have to install Active Sync. Strangely enough I couldn't install the disk that HTC puts into the boxes where you buy your phones in. The program says that you must install flash 8.0 or higher with a link that link you up to Adobe's website. I already did install the latest flash player. I uninstall it, reset the computer, put in the disk, hit the link, install the flash player again, restart again. Still the same message. After that I downloaded ActiveSync 4.5 at the website of Microsoft. It works okay.
When I put a new contact in the phone it won't set the contact into Word Office Outlook 2003. Otherwise it works.
I've tried to delete the device into ActiveSync and loaded up in it again but that won't work unfortunately. Please help!
Is everything else you selected to sync sychronising properly? It's not just simply that you didn't select the options when you re-installed?
Does ActiveSync come up with any error messages? It could be that you need to delete partnerships and re-establish them - in my experience ActiveSync is a bit 'fussy' when uninstalled and re-installed.
Whatever, make sure you do full backup(s) before trying anything - I lost all my data one time when an engineer 'tried' to re-establish my ActiveSync partnership!
My pc was completly turned up side down so I used the recovery dvd and that deleted the whole C disk, also ActiveSync. I do had to download ActiveSync from the website because the disk wouldn't run. And yes I do change some options.
It can not synchronised some contacts that I install on my Topaz. Installing contacts in Outlook 2003 to the device works, otherwise not.
It gives the warning code 1.
Sorry, not sure what to suggest here.
If NOTHING from the phone is syncing with Outlook (i.e. no Appointments, Tasks or whatever) it sounds to me as though it could be a problem with the firewall - if you have one set up. Try disabling that and syncing.
If it's only Contacts that aren't syncing, but it works the other way, I'm at a loss.
Worth looking at the Microsoft Support pages - but ActiveSync often seems to have a mind of its own!
Sorry I can't help.

It does Sync tasks, appointments, etc. Just a couple of contacts strangely enough :S
...and it won't sync NEW Contacts at all? I've had the problem previously where existing Contacts didn't get changed - ActiveSync seemed to have got 'confused' as to which was the most up-to-date version and I had to go through entire Contacts list making small changes, waiting for them to be replicated, and if they were not then deleting that Contact on both devices and adding them back in.
That's simpler than it reads - but if you can't add NEW Contacts from the phone I'm not sure that's the problem.
Sorry.
Thnx for your input
ive tried to synce my gmail contacts all goes well with the setup then it wont even sync i keep hitting the synce button and NOTTA. so i said fuc* it and did it all manually. must be a microsoft thing.
