blocked phone??? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

recently bought a htc diamond from a market stall which i think was a mistake!!! he said it was all working and put my sim card in at the stall which the phone turned on and everthing seemed to work, on closer inspection i have no signal the internet works i take it the gprs is still running through my sim but i dont recieve calls / make them or texts due to the fact i have no signal!! ive tried updating the rom with the one from orange website that works but still have no signal, now i like the phone so was wondering if there is a rom / hacked software for the phone that unblocks it? i dont mind having h#dodgy software on it as my contract runs out soon and will be getting a new phone anyway just need this one to work for the time beeing!!

Not too sure, there is a few things that could be wrong.
Broken antenna?
Software problem?
Blocked IMEI?

just checked the imei number currently unblocked so its not that!!

try another simcard older sims are not always compatible
but most places operators send you a new one for free if you "lost" it or broke it

Didn't you try to make a call before paying for it? I hope you didn't pay too much!
From what I read in the first post, it seems as tho you say the internet works?!? Do you mean cellular or Wifi Inet? If you have cellular Inet then you have a signal! Cellular Data cannot be transmitted if there is no signal.
Take a look at the antennae: There are two "sticker" antennas {1 above & 1 below the battery} Remove battery cover. At the top of the device is a sticker antenna that is for the Wifi & Bluetooth. At the bottom is a sticker antenna for the cellular radio. If the sticker looks damaged then that is your problem. Also check to see that the Void sickers are still there {there should be two; 1 above & 1 below battery}. If not then someone has opened it & possibly damaged the antenna. Don't forget to look at the LDI {Liquid Damage Indicator} located under the lanyard hook while you're at it.
You can also try flashing with a different Radio. Read the Diamond Radio thread in Diam ROM Dev.

RECEPTION Issues with T-Mobile MDA

All,
I got a new MDA and for some reason, it just does NOT work in my house all the time. I move my SIM into Razor, works fine. MDA would only work 50% of the time. It can not find T-Mobile network AT ALL! I would go down the street and it will pick up the signal. They I go back home... it works fine... then it will either lose signal and that would be it until i leave the house or, it will be Ok for a while... Makes NO sense...
Are their upgrades or anthing i can do? This is specific to cell reception only...
Thank you very much!
try updating to the latest imate rom, not saying i will work bit worth a shot
impreves the speed + stability of your phones as well.
Doug
Hey... I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I went through the same B.S. with T-Mobile. You have to call and complain. It turns out that when the signal is relatively weak **but not weak enough for a RAZR to work** the MDA or SDA (as well as some other HTC devices) can't properly register on the network. When you call, just make sure that you keep escalating this to the highest tier (Tier 3). They are going to try to blame the SIM Card (make sure you have another phone nearby so that they can make sure the SIM is not the issue). They have to issue an engineering trouble ticket. They will eventually get back to you and tell you that they have to add towers/strengthen the signal and that it would be done within 120 days. Just F*&(in incompetent... Let me know how it works (and be dogged... don't let them give you the brush off or send you another device (which will incidentally be a refurbished one not a new one) this is a NETWORK problem).

Phone continously disconnects and loses signal if 3g is on

Hey guys, I have this prepaid ATT pay as you go simcard with the medianet unlimited on and the phone goes into a continuous disconnect and reconnect with the 3g signal if I have 3g enabled in the connection manager. If I turn off 3G then it works just fine and sticks with an EDGE connection. Is there something that I am doing wrong? I checked the connection settings with another friend who uses 3g from att as well and settings are the same. I have also resetted the phone multiple times too.
Oh and the phone I have is the ATT Tilt running Hyperdragon's most recent rom.
I'd try swapping SIM with your friend and see if it works for both of you that way. If the Kaiser still can't connect to 3G, you might want to try another ROM, if to no avail you might have the broken 3G radio problem.

I had the same problem. Got a brand new 3G sim card from mobile operator. No help. So sent it to warranty again.
There is a broken 3g radio problem?

Yes, a lot of people including me had to send their Kaiser for a mainboard exchange for that same problem.
Here's the old thread about it I found when I had the problem.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335074
Yes, it's a hardware problem. Seems to be fairly common. My TytnII had the same problem.
I had to send it off for repair last Monday. They sent me a replacement phone on Wednesday.
Oh great, I bought this phone a while back from someone else and was using it with Tmobile and am trying it out with ATT prepaid. So I guess I am not covered and am stuck with a phone with a broken 3g radio?
First try the steps described above, sometimes configuration/ROM trouble can make it look similar.
I tried calling support and talking with them and nothing really worked. They said I would have to do warranty exchange through HTC. They said that all they would need is a credit card number and they send the new one first and I have to send back the broken one and I won't be charged if there is no water damage or too many drops right? Do they send you a completely new device? I have kept this phone inside a microfiber pouch its whole life and there are literally no scratches anywhere and a screen protector on it since day 1. It seems to work fine when on the EDGE network, so should I send it back? I don't want to get charged for anything.
I have the same problem... it started with the stock ROM, I have tried four different ROMs, five different radios, even tried reverting to the 6>0 ROM thiking it was a 6.1 glitch, and nothing worked. I get EDGE just fine, but if I switch to 3G, I get a signal for maybe 30 seconds and then lose it.
Lucky for me, my warranty expired. However, AT&T is supposedly releasing the Diamond soon, I thnk I'll plod along until then.

Loosing network signal

Hi!
After weeks of flawless function my Xperia can not find my carriers phone network.
I have updated the phone to the new ROM but that does not help.
The phone finds the SIM card and asks for the code.
Strangly it can connect to internet through my carrier (Tele2).
But I can not get a connection to the phone network and make a normal phone call.
Is something wrong with the phone?
NO, cause with another carrier (Telenor) everything works pefect.
Then obviously something is wrong with my carrier (Tele2) or the SIM-card.
NO, cause when I put my Tele2 SIM-card in another device (Ipaq 6515) it works perfect.
The Ipaq is not a 3G-phone. Can that have anything to do with it?
I'm getting lost here, all help is appreciated.
(ORIGINAL MESSAGE
Hi!
After weeks of flawless function my Xperia has started to lose it's phone network.
I notice it after I wake my phone up from stand by mode.
It doesn't help to turn the phone option off and on in Comm manager, but it has sometimes helped turning flight mode on and off.
Other times I had to restart the phone.
This happens a couple of times every day, after long times of not using the phone. I have not been able to trigger this problem, so I don't know what causes it or exactly when it happens.
Strangly it can connect to HDSPA while it has lost the phone network.
I have also experienced som freezes when I'm flipping between the panels to much.
All help is appreciated, thanks.
It would be helpful if you could give us more information.
What ROM are you using
Which carrier you have
etc.

I'm using:
ROM 1.02.936.3
Radioversion 1.06.25.29
The carrier is Swedish Tele2.
In Sweden we have GSM-900 and GSM-1800.
Tele2 also provide me with UMTS and HSDPA.
Today the problem became worse.
Even after repeated soft restarts it refused to find the phone network.
Then I change SIM-card to another carrier and it found the network.
I also tried the SIM-card that's giving me problems in another device. Works fine.
So both SIM-cards works. I'm now gonna go with the new carrier during the day to see if the problem come back.
If anyone have any ideas, please help.

All I can say that Xperia sometimes looks for the signal a bit longer it should IMO,
but I also know that carriers have many many problems usually and they're also often responsible for signal drops in some places too.
I know that 'cos I was talking to my carrier many times about it and learned something about it...
have u tried hard resetting the phone or re-installing the software? ..
if u run the sony update software it will give u the option to re-install your phones software - not sure if that has the same effect as a hard reset ..
probably worth trying

Have you tried disabling 3G/HSDPA?
Chance that you have very poor 3G on your phone, whilst the IPAC is picking up ok 2G.

Thanks for replying.
I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA in the advanced network menu. But it didn't help.
I also tried to choose GSM only in the phone seetings menue. But I could not even change the setting. Just got an error message about not being able to change the network (or something similar).
Is there any other setting that might be worth trying?

Having worked for several phone companies a few years at customer service I know what the procedure is.
-First thing they do is ask you to do a "crosstest", try your SIM in another phone and see if that works.
-You'll tell them that you did that and everything works fine when you use another phone.
-They'll automatically conclude that there's something wrong with your phone (correctly)
-They'll ask you if you could do a hard reset ( You did that too)
-Then maybe they'll try and reset the network (which almost never works)
Basically they'll have no other choice then for you to return it and have them look at the problem / replace your phone.
I don't think we here can help you with your problem
Good luck and keep us posted
Get a new SIM card. I've seen problems like this before, and an updated SIM card solved it.
The best way would be to test your SIM card in a similar phone, the ipaq not being close because it's not even 3G.

I'm so confused right now.
Got my new sim card today, problem remains.
I call the carrier support and after they've looked the IMEI-number up they say that the phone is barred by an external operator. They won't tell me the reason and by what operator.
So I call the other carriers support and after they've done a IMEI-search they say that the phone is not locked in any way, by them or any other operator. After have been talking to Xperia support they come to the same conclusion. The phone is not locked but agree to that something is wrong, with phone or carriers, and they want me to try with a third carrier.
Final
I've handed in my phone to the seller and got another one back instead.
The end
Exact same problem
Howdy folks,
I have the exact same problem: My Xperia has worked fine for a month. Suddenly I can't register with Tele2 network (tried another Tele2 card as well that didn't work) for calling but have access to data channel so I can surf. Got told by the Tele2 support that my phone was fu**ed up. Got pissed off. Tried a sim for another provider (Telenor) that worked. Called the Tele2 support again. They noticed that I have an old (2g) sim, so they will send a new (3g) card to test if that fixes this mess. It should arrive late this week or early the next. Can't wait...
I'll keep you posted in this thread (or, if I should instead have made a new thread, a moderator may spank me and I will do better).
/Swedish Dave
Nope, new sim-card didn't fix it. But I have found at least one other xperia-user with this problem...
bad GSM signal
I have a X1
rom 1.03.931.10
radio 1.10.25.18
protocol version 52.56.25.29W
and since from the start I have bad GSM signal I have like 1-2 lines onli and it go up to 5line but onli from time to time (and then it drops again to 1-2line or none but If Itray to call is working or I get called but I can berly hear them bicose of the bad signal) on O2 network and in T-mobile is the same no mather wher I'm in town or outside of town; I'm in UK
is the phone damaged?? or...
sry for my bad english
My phone does the same thing
My x1 has had no problem with phone function or network. However, from the last week, the signal began to be lost sometimes, and the machine turned off automatically. and finally today, there is no signal at all.
MY SIM card works with other phones, so, I thought it might be software problem, and hard reseted with new rom. However, still no signal. It keeps looking. Does anyone have the same problem, and hopefully, solution?
I´m using my X1i with Tele2 as my service provider, but i don´t have any problems with signalstrength.. Works just fine..

I know I should've introdouced myself first, and that this is a strange first post, but:
HOLY SMOKES!!!
Xperia has FIVE reception bars????!!!!!
I always thought that 3 is the max value, since it only happened once that it went up to three bars, rest of the time it's maximum 2, usually 1.
I am also on Tele2 carrier, in Sweden that is, and since yesterday, I have no reception AT ALL.
Nothing.
Tried turning off 3G(or whatever it's called), nothing happens.
Tested with 3 other cards (one Tele2, one Telenor, one Telia) - all seem to be working okay. Except that the Tele2 one has slightly lower reception than the others.
Tested with 3 other phones as well - iPhone 3GS, Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, HTC Desire. All of them worked perfectly. Full coverage on that super-fast network thingy(the 3G symbol on iPhone).
Internet is just flowing on other phones - but Xperia is just falling behind in the most important section - reception.
Calls get dropped (2/3 of the calls), I must send same message at least 3 times in order to get it sent, Internet is crappy - if there's any at all.
Any kind of guidance is mostly appreciated.
P.S. A bit of those numbers which seem to be important:
Microsoft Windows MobileR 6.1 Professional
CE-OS 5.2.19608 (Build 19608.1.2.60)
ROM-version: 1.05.936.9
ROM-date: 04/19/09
Radioversion: 1.14.25.55
Protocol version: 1.0.11842.32680
Since all of you seem to have problems with one and the same carrier (Tele2) why don't you simply switch to another one? I once had a problem that was very alike the one described here and after several unsuccessful attempts of the carrier to fix it I simply switched to another one and all my problems were gone.

[Q] Help Cant connect to cell towers to make calls

So I work for a telecommunication company and i was on a ladder and dropped my S4 active. Now everything on the phone works except for cell phone portion. I tried swapping my SIM into the wifes S4 and my SIM works in hers. Now i tried doing a warranty exchange but since i dropped it the rear housing got a crack on 2 edges so now it is Out of Warranty. so i opened up the back and removed the rear housing and nothing is cracked antenna is in working order and such. SO here is the kicker. When I take a sim out of the phone i get the message no sim obviously but i can also make emergency calls. So I know it is connecting to towers. But as soon as I put a Sim back in no dice. tells me no signal. I have done factory reset hoping that maybe I could get it up and running that by some miracle that it would come up but it has not. so I don't know what else to do. is someone out here smarter then the average bear and can come up with some ideas.
finally someone with the same problem i have it wont connect to towers via GSM i discovered this by setting the connection type to GSM only and it fails to connect but if i take the sim out it allows emergency calls. if i set it to any other network type it will connect to the strongest signal in my area only not vodafone as vodafone 3g is useless in my area. so the phone is pretty much useless to me.
I returned it to carphone warehouse but they are claiming physical damage as the gasket on the back is begining to peel and they suggest this may account for water damage. my phone has been like this for a month.
I have stripped it down cleaned all connectors, made sure the areal has continuity, i've even used a hot air gun on the motherboard just in case there were any dry solder joints
nothing seems to work.
I called vodafone for them to check my IMEI was not barred on there network. I've checked another vodafone sim of a friend that had the same problem, i've tried my sim in other phones and it works great so its certainly the phone at fault.
when i stripped it down the water indicator sticker is slightly pink but not completely.
I've flashed other roms on the phone too i've seen on ebay people selling the s4 active as spares or repair with signal trouble which makes me think its a known fault what confuses me is GSM is completely dead but it can get 3g signal on strong networks

No GSM signal but ample of WCDMA...

first of all thanks for sharing such useful tut....though it didn't work for me cause I can't enter DIAG mode.
second of all I'm having a little bit of different issue with my Rooted HTC one M7.
My phone recognizes WCDMA signal absolutely fine( 3G data connection is flawless) but it won't detect/recognize GSM signal no matter how many different cell towers I go to. when I switch to "WCDMA" or "GSM/WCDMA auto" mode it receives good signal, but when I switch to "GSM" only mode then it turns out to be "emergency calls only" thing(I tried this with 10 different vendor SIM cards). To make sure my SIM hasn't got any issue I tried it in different phone which did good. I can't say that if it has Hardware issues, but to clear my doubt I went to Authorized HTC service center. The front desk engineer guy took my phone to the technician and came back in a minute and told me that motherboard needs to be replaced (can they really diagnose phone's H/W in a minute?? also my phone's rooted and 18months old so no warranty). That MB thing costs around 80% of mobile's current market price so I came back with faulty HTC one m7 in my pocket. And here I am... I thought I would ask some experts in this community to give it a try on software side otherwise the phone is already 90% useless as there no coverage to WCDMA in my house.
Now you may be thinking that it is Service Provider's coverage issue, but hey I tried using my SIM into two other phones at the same place. Out of which one was "Nokia Lumia 820" and the other one was 6 year old "Nokia 1110"(though it doesn't support micro SIM, I inserted it carefully to make proper copper contacts) and my SIM worked fine with GSM signal in both the phones, as of course 1110 works only with GSM.
I can't believe I'm having this weird issue and now I can't rely on HTC's service centers. So any help is gonna be really useful.
I appreciate your time to read this and thanks in advance.
Have good time ahead.
