Connecting internet in G1 from PC through USB ? - G1 Apps and Games

Is there any application or way from which we can connect to internet in G1 from computer connected to internet through USB ?

wrong place. but interesting idea.
why not just use wifi?

Wifi isn't always applicable (your PC might not have Wifi or old laptop or...)
There is a programm called "Proxoid" and you need to use ADP
install Proxoid on your G1 (i don't think root is required but it might be!) then run: "adb forward tcp:8080 tcp:8080"
when done like this you can point your webbrowsers-proxy-settings to localhost:8080
Works for http & https nothing else though.

I gave you already all the guide you need...it's as easy as that.
- Install Proxoid (search Market or internet for it!)
- Install ADP on computer
- Activate Settings->Applications->Development->USB-Debugging
- Start Proxoid on Phone (you might need to tick the Start/Stop Proxoid Box)
- Enter in a Dosbox (or a Link) "adb forward tcp:8080 tcp:8080"
- Change your browser proxy-settings to point to Server:localost port:8080
- Happy Surfin'!

after downloading and installing what now?

Follow the on screen instructions for installing the software on your pc. Enable USB debugging on your phone in Settings>Applications>Development. This enables the program to install pdanet on your phone. When it's done installing turn pdanet on on your phone and click connect on your pc. Thats it
Cheers

I guess this is the wrong idea for sabin123, PDAnet is used if the phone is connected to the internet and the computer is not, but the question is how can you access the internet if your computer is somehow connected to the web and you have no data plan for your phone.
I found the easiest way is to get yourself an access point, it is not as easy to share your computers internet with your phone as it is with windows mobile.

You're all over the place - even I'm confused - which of the following are you trying to do:
A) use the internet connection my PC connects to and share it to the G1
B) use the internet connection on the G1 (3G) and share it to the PC.
Some of the suggestions are doing A, some B - so please clear that up for us.
Also, if it's A then let us know how you are getting internet on the notebook, through WIRED ethernet or WiFi

A, MY Pc has the connection to share with G1
internet through wired

Pdanet and proxyid connect g1 internet to PC but is there a way to connect pc internet to g1 ????

Normaly this woudl be done via WiFi-AP
But if you have none only USB-Connection, you'll need a Proxy-SERVER on your PC
MAYBE it'll work with adp forward tcp:80 tcp:80
Princible:
- ADB builds a tunnel from G1-Port:80 to PC-Port:80
- On your PC is a proxy-server who than can route from G1 to PC-Internet
- The principle is that adb can build a tunnel wich is usable from 2 sides but i'm not sure!
installing a good working proxy isn't as easy...

HTC Touch Diamond Won't connect to PC.

Alright, I'm running Windows 7, and this is exactly what happens.
First, i connect my HTC Touch Diamond, on the phone screen it asks me to choose ActiveSync or Disk Drive, regardless of what i choose, or if i choose none, i always instantly get the following error appears in the task bar and the "Unknown Device" in device manager.

Under the devices properties in Device Manager, the Device Status says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
If i try re-running the Windows Mobile Device Center installer (drvupdate-x86.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F1-E46A-4A5F-A791-09F07AAA1914&displaylang=en) the following happens:
So, apparently it finds the driver and then attempts to install it, but while doing so, the device appears to become 'unplugged' some how and then the Windows Mobile Device Center installer continues on its way.
I've tried various reported fixes for problems like this, such as:
-Checking or unchecking the "Enable advanced network functionality" box in Start->Settings->Connections->USB to PC.
-Used 2 different cables in various USB ports.
-Deleting the device from device manager, resetting my PC and soft resetting my device then reconnecting them.
-Hard and soft resetting the device
-Enabling various system services, such as the UPnP one (which was originally disabled for some reason)
-Tried it on an XP machine, same task bar error, and same Unkown Device in Device Manager.
None of the above has worked, and im out of ideas. I'd be extremely grateful to anyone who could help out, i've tried to provide as much information as possible, if anything else is needed, just ask.
Thanks in advance.

Check this link here: http://www.we-u.com/?p=1321

Just find the drivers on the net and install them manually, then try n connect
Solution?
Hi!
I have the same problem with a HTC Touch HD. Can you tel me what is the solution?
Thx,
Darknight
hi, i have a same problem. i am using a standard 5 pin mini usb which comes with nokia n95.
Please tell me is it right to use 5 pin usb cable or i have to buy 11 pin mini usb cable.
my touch diamond starts charging when plugged 5pin mini usb but doesn't sync.
plz help
I'm having the same issues as the OP. I'm thinking if I could manually load the drivers, all would be well. Could someone who DOES have it working with Windows 7 perhaps strip the driver out somehow and post it here? I've tried all of the tricks listed above, with no luck. I'm going to try to get it working with my laptop running XP later tonight... maybe I can find the driver that way?
try this.
i also had this problem. try another data cable which ur friend use to connect his htc.
same problem, and it causes errors connecting as flash memory.
tried same computer, same cable, but windows xp sp3 with activesync. everything worked fine.
wtf is wrong with windows 7?

there is nothing wrong with windows 7, I think you need WMDC 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64- bit) to make it work
in this site you can get it http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=3182
I have a problem with my diamond, can't make it work through usb with my pc.
It gives me an error in device manager:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
I have installed wmd and tried different usb ports with no luck.
On my pc I have win10 installed, any suggestions?
Hi,
not sure if HTC Diamond can sync with Windows 10. I run Linux and have Windows XP with ActiveSync in VirtualBox. Works fine. So you may want to try the same, run XP in a Virtual Machine under Windows 10.

Ok, first off I start the app thinking it was an installer. Tells me no device is connected.
I assume the the app is now shut off since there is no indication of it running.
I plug in my phone and turn on debugging and then I get a window that says
'adb' is not a valid integer value. Then something about my adb server is out of date. Beats me what this supposed to mean.
I attempt to click the X on the warning message and it keeps poping up. So I used task manager to kill it.
WindowsXp SP3.
DroidExplorer works
Out of all seriousness I like your slim and mean approach. Just doesn't seem to work on my machine.

You get this message if you have an adb server running (like from droid explorer) that is a different version then you are trying to start "right now". Droid Explorer uses 1.6r3 with the current install, the next release has 1.6r4.

Out of curiosity, what is the app doing that "requires" busybox. With Droid Explorer, I use busybox's ls command because the stock one sucks and doesn't display all the information when doing a ls -lF, plus i dont think it supports --color=always

Woah! you actually did a fresh install of windows to get this app working?
anyhow, if you open a command prompt and type "adb devices" what does it output.
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled on the device. Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging
Thanks camalot for your help, you are good guy. And also THX to you UpGrad3 (you are first ).
BTW new version soon
hmmm doesn't seem to work well with a multi-monitor setup or maybe some other issue.
When I start it with the phone not plugged in I get the Device not found off to the edge of the monitor. (APK Manager shows on the taskbar)
Connect the phone and Refresh and it's found and click OK.
Then your app disappears... nothing the the taskbar but if I check Task Manager it's running.
Little help please
Oh yeah WinXP SP3

I have done a clean install of cyanogen 4.2.9.1 cause i had too much stuff on my fone so i thought id clean it up a little bit and since that android commander is not working again so its something to do with my phone does anyone kno what may be wrong ? thanks.
new version available
this program is so strange for me if i do a clean install of cyanogen it doesnt work well version 0.5 didnt and after a day or two when i have lots of apps installed to the phone it works i dont understand and now the latest version 0.6 doesnt work but it works in the places 0.5 didnt e.g. it allways opens up no matter what even on clean install so this has been improved only now it doesnt detect my phone when connected i have attached screenshots to help me explain they are here:
when i open the program i receive this message:
and when i click ok it opens like this:
please fix this cause i really like this program and appreciate ur work
as i said before, it's not program problem. this error showing because of program can not read informations form your phone. many people had issues like you (also on different forums), and every time problem was with SDK/ADB.

Point it to the exact directory in which adb and aapt are found should be something like c:/program files (x86) - android/tools

Thx to the Member brant34 of 4pd.ru who has uploaded the new Version from HiSuite.
The only Problem was that the Language was in Chinese, but i found a simple fix for that:
After you install the prog (you don't need to deinstall the old one, just update)
go to your'e userfolder than AppData/Local/HiSuite/userdata
(for this you need to unblock hidden files in foldersettings)
and open UserSettings.xml with an editor
change this Line:
Code:
<utpsdoc>
<language>
<active>[COLOR="Red"]_de[/COLOR]</active>
to your'e Language code example en:
Code:
<utpsdoc>
<language>
<active>[COLOR="Red"]_en-us[/COLOR]</active>
Now you can start the Programm :highfive:
You can find all available Language codes under
Win 32bit

May be you can try on another computer to see if it's the application or the PC/OS...
these versions are still in developpement, but show a good evolution...

Perhaps you must give permissions to the cell phone to communicate with the software HISUITE !!! in the developer options press on USB debugging, on the contrary you cannot access the cell phone !!!!

2.3.35 working and translated following your tutorial, thanks
In my configuration I needed to give hisuite.exe permission for outgoing TCP to 127.0.0.1 or it would not connect

My test machine is running windows 7 64bits with Windows Firewall Control to manage permissions, it depends on your configuration. Hisuite also called home at 44% progress during backup and resumed after connection failed.
Adb needs also to connect to localhost so if you didnt add a rule for that you shouldnt need one now.
In case is of any use, this is how I updated:
I installed over v1.8, during pc installation and before choosing target path I took a copy of hisuite.apk from windows temp folder and installed it by hand on my device so it upgraded to v2.3.35. I also saved a copy of .apk on sdcard
After checking backup and restore worked ok I tested backward compatibility: I connected the phone to another pc with hisuite 1.8, which replaced hisuite.apk with an older version. Disconnected and back to test machine with latest version which failed to connect and transfer .apk, I then updated manually to latest hisuite.apk. on the phone and worked.
it seams latest hisuite.apk is not backward compatible.
I also found what I believe is a nice feature, under contacts -> message there is a button to place calls from the desktop.
Test it together with 'Speaker Mode' apk and worked ok!
HiSuite.apk v2.3.35

That's okay, if you can connect your phone to your computer and have a look in the phones storage to see if you can find anything that resembles the file.. I'd expect it to be in cache but you could try and see if you can access it

Are you able to boot your phone up normally though?
I think you might need to reflash the all firmware again otherwise I don't know what to do.. Bear in mind that you'll lose access to OATs if you reflash it :/
