Hi chiefs and community members!
Just wanted to let you know that Microsoft has official reached "Gold Status" with Windows Mobile 6.5:
http://winfuture.de/news,50454.html
One of the first available devices with the new OS will be the HTC HD2 (more or less an 1GHz-Touch HD) released today:
http://www.computerbase.de/news/consumer_electronics/kommunikation/2009/oktober/htc_hd2_display/
Both links redirects you to german news sites.
Maybe one or more of our chiefs can cook some cool HD2 based WM6.5 ROMs for our loved Touch HD in the near future?
Big Thanks and bye for now,
Future

I am using 6.5.1 and i am in love with it Im just hoping someone cooks the new more stable build, im so excited and will definitely buy many beers for the person who does so!
HD2!!!
I heard it was going to be HTC LEO, with the 1ghz processor and there are rumors that Microsoft will release the wm7, 5 months after the wm6.5 is officially released. I think that's gonna be a nice OS. Lets wait and see...
There are a few HTC Leo (HD2) Custom ROMS already floating around on XDA..... mostly based on 6.5.1 build 23016
i think, there should be offical roms in every language after this official release, now. isn´t it so? i´m waiting for the final version in german with the new softkeys. hope, we´ll get it, soon!!!

So, sorry if I didn't read up much but I saw this as the LEO here, which refers to TouchProThree, so I wondered. And if Chrome's search works correctly I didn't find any keyword "leo" in all the links you all given. So, hmm. Leo surely got a mysterious identity.

Hi there all i thought we could call upon all android bufins to start porting android to htc touch pro 2,Maybe we can use the blackstone vershion and build on top of that or the htc touch pro vershion.Now that the HTC magic is out with android 1.5 this helps us to get a better port working on htc devices and android on htc touch pro 2 would be out of this world so gentlemen let the games begin.

HTC Hero with the same RAM/ROM/CPU as TP2 just got announced today as an Android phone with HTC's own touch UI additions.
http://www.intomobile.com/2009/06/2...ra-teflon-coating-coming-out-late-summer.html
Once this hits the wild and ROM hackers get on it, I think there might be further advances on Android on TP2.
BTW, check out the video. Full featured Android is not (yet), but it does look cool.

I've seend video's of the touch HD on youtube where it appears that the menu had problems displaying contents while opening. (in opened and closed states it looked normal) Also third party apps will mostly be designed for standard screen size I guess even though Android itself might be capable.
Not completely related, but HTC has apparently announced that the HTC Sense UI on their Hero Android phone will be coming to future HTC WM mobiles:

A nice alternative to Touch Flo 3D perhaps.

It was on MobileBurn i think, they wanted to confirm the information and were told that it won't appear on Windows Mobile. Well there is no official statement yet anyway, only half cooked statements.
I ordered the tp2 and are a owner of the blackstone to, and after i saw the interface and what android is capable of, i decided to write a mail to htc, and i got a reply that the new interface will not come to tp2. But there will be a wm 6.5 update with tf3d for the tp2. and its very unlikley it will come to the blackstone i think, if it comes it will be unofficially. myself has canceled my tp2 and will wait some more and see what will come out hero will come in two flavors, one with qwerty and one without (hero). And maybe later some more phones, What i am wondering is would it be easier to run winmo 6.1 on an android phone or is it just as hard to get it as it is to get android on the windows phone?

@ask768 yeah not interested in tf3d v2.5...Sense looks way better.
reading the actual HTC press release, found this
HTC Sense
Built on a culture of innovation and a passion to enhance peoples lives, HTC shapes the mobile experience around the individual. Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected

Manila 2.5 IS Sense!
“HTC never indicated that the new UI would be available on WinMo – it won’t be, in fact. The confusion comes from some sites not getting their facts straight. HTC said that TouchFLO 3D was part of Sense. Sense is *already* on WinMo.
The fact that HTC has not given the new UI on the Hero a proper name has led people to assuming that Sense refers only to the UI on the Hero, which is not the case. In any case, HTC caused the confusion by not giving the new UI a real name it could refer to. Sense is merely a philosophy, not an actual user interface.
Make no mistake, TouchFLO 3D is staying on WinMo devices, and the new, unnamed UI is what HTC will be using for Android devices that lack the "with Google" branding.

Sense = Android
Manila = Windows Mobile
Manila 2.5 != Sense
(Sense = Cool)
Wrong.
Sense = the name for the concept/philosophy behind all HTC interfaces
unnamed = HTC's Android interface
Manila = HTC's WM interface
==> Both Manila and HTC's Android interface are Sense.
2late, everybody is refering to sense when they talk about the new android ui.
all the rest is manila.
That's wrong nevertheless, and it's causing confusion.
Manila 2.5 is part of Sense and Manila will stay on Windows Mobile. The interface that HTC has programmed for Android won't come to Windows Mobile but Manila will evolve and eventually become more like that Android interface in the future.
So, now 6.5 is officially released, when are we going to get a proper base 6.5 ROM for our Jades? Come on, there's got to be a genius out there.

Apparently, the Touch 2 will be quite cheap in SEAsia, somewhere between the Opal and Jade. This with increased memory but same processor and same camera as Jade.
yeah i looked at a touch2 ...however the battery is only 1000amh....compared to our Touch 3G's 1100amh

They told to visit HTC site regularly to know about the release.

It's hard to figure out HTC's marketing strategy. They introduce a newer version of a product with the same or sometimes inferior features. Take the Touch cruise 2, for instance. The older one had a better camera. The screen of the Opal is lowered and that makes it hard to reach the close button. As for the official upgrade, the word out is it will only be for the diamond 2 and touch pro 2. But when it comes to hotfixes, jade comes in first with practically none= no major issues to fix.
I too have asked HTC support about WM6.5 and have gotten the same answer - no WM6.5 for the Jade. But i asked them some 3 weeks ago, or more. Things may have changed in the mean time.

I thought 21854 is the official release. My future release features 21859 so is a bit newer than the official . I solved a problem it had with office, my mistake after all. So the in the new megade wm 6.5 will have as much bugs as the official release. (maybe a bit less/more)
If u look at the specs of the Touch2, it's very clear it's just an upgrade on Jade. Apart from the improbable stuff like RAM and ROM. the rest are nearly a match. some of the features that jade lacks, just a couple of registry tweaks and shortcut assigned keys..and you're on the GO! Save $$$...and a prettier phone. LOL

More than a long shot I would say, since allowing Jade owners to update 6.5 would mean they would not have an incentive to upgrade to Touch 2. Phones like ours requires a lot of thought at the beginning and more user friendly phones like Nokia are hard to beat. Believe me, I've tried to convert quite a few people!

For me next will be TOUCH HD 2 a'ka Leo!!! For Roms - very good last form Hellonasty and Miri, wait from PhamQuang and another chefs.
It's not coming
i thought it has been confirmed that Windows Mobile 6.5 is not coming to Touch HD...
Read this.
yep, it has always been said that touch hd would not receive wm 6.5 official rom.
anyway, chefs provide better roms than the official ones, so for me there's no difference if htc provides official rom or not.
I AGREE when i buy my HTC with stock Wm 6.1 Was very Buggy and Slow untill i start to flashing with coocked ROM`s so its not a problem for me do we have Official ROM or not always we will be UPDATET because we have good comunity here no matter from the HTC support when WM 7 Release Again here we will have some Amazing Cocked ROM so sometimes i think that some of the Coocked ROM`s are better than the STOCK one.
Personally I feel this has been discussed enough beforehand and on this thread. For these reasons I am closing this thread. Any objections, please PM me with your reasons

I'm going to stick with my super fast build of 6.5.3 that our wonderful cooks have provided. In my experience with past phones with T-Mobile and software updates then this new 6.5 from TMO will be very slow.... like a snail. I agree that the news is terriffic for everyone not able to flash to a new ROM but I am excited to see what our cooks come up with next!

and when it's out, porting it to hardware built for WiMo6.x is going to be much harder because WiMo7 is being developed with different hardware in mind, apparently WiMo7 phones will have more hardware in common with a zune then with a WiMo6.x phone

Wait and see if the date is real. I'll be cooking with it. When the HD2 comes out for T-Mobile I'll forget about my Touch Pro 2.

Just curious...currently, I have this official Europe rom installed http://htcpedia.com/ruu_rhodium_s_htc_europe_wm65/soft/htc-rhodium-rom.html?page=1 with hard spl but if I wanted to flash T-Mo's official wm6.5 rom, would I have to flash a soft spl first or is it not needed? Thanks in advance.

If you have HardSPL already, then you'll be able to flash whatever ROM you like, so yes, you'll be able to use T-Mobile's officials ROMs.
