Well wm 6.5 release 2 days ago. Anyone get their hand on the final release where there isn't any bugs?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/meet/wm65-upgrade.mspx#phoneList i don't know if anyone has gotten it
Samsung released it for the Omnia 2 (in The Netherlands) and T-Mobile Germany for the MDA Vario V.

Maybe you don't understand. Official release means that it is available for phone manufacturers - not for you and me to download and install on our phones.
nope! I don't agree...Official is out so should the cook might get their hands on it. Also Official update is out, that mean the provider such as tmobile would let you upgrade your TP2, but at the moment tmobile US has no upgrade...I really don't care I think enrgyRoM would beat any upgrade or whatever....but if the official is out, this would allow the cook add their own twicks and tricks.
Well, I got it and I must say it's awesome for shipped Rom. Didn't notice any bug and I've never seen such a fast stock Rom. Speed is as it should be. Only annoying thing is the branding.

I mention they made a demo with WM6.5 on an Rhodium. Hope it's a pre-release. Exh 2010 works really well indeed.
Just install a custom ROM, they are far better than stock ROM!

I'm sure many of u are familiar with the Dopod Rom on CHina mobiles Magic phone.
http://www.androidauthority.com/ind...-gets-htc-magicdopod-g2-with-iphone-ui-style/
I know that rom has been released and some devs have it (drizzy). Just wanna know if anyone will be releasing a version for G1 or Magic 32b.
yea drizzy saisd he would release it 3 weeks ago. I quit following
Looks pretty nice.
that rom looks sick...I need that in my life!!
whats up with drizzy?? I been waiting for him to release that new hero rom for almost 2 weeks now, and now I hear he has been slackin on this too? whatver happened to drizzy having a direct connection with HTC to optimize hero to the G1/magic??? when are we gonna see anything come out of that? In the meantime someone really needs to port this over to the G1/magic...from what I read china mobile officially released the magic with this UI in May, its September now, and I think its about time we all got our hands on this goodness...
yeah thats true, we need that dopod on the g1
bumppppp
anyone have more info on this?
So, now 6.5 is officially released, when are we going to get a proper base 6.5 ROM for our Jades? Come on, there's got to be a genius out there.
I guess all the chefs are waiting for an official HTC 6.5 final ROM dump. I mean that's what i would do, if i were a chef.
Really excited about it.Hope something will come up soon.

I asked HTC support a few weeks ago and they replied to me that they won't release a official 6.5 ROM for the Touch 3G. I guess they prefer to sell the Touch2 instead.

Apparently, the Touch 2 will be quite cheap in SEAsia, somewhere between the Opal and Jade. This with increased memory but same processor and same camera as Jade.
yeah i looked at a touch2 ...however the battery is only 1000amh....compared to our Touch 3G's 1100amh
Asked in HTC
I too asked in HTC support.
They told it would take some time for them to release the upgrade for our wonderful jade.
They told to visit HTC site regularly to know about the release.
Waiting for the upgrade.

Means that WinMo 6.5 will be officialy released for our Jade !?
OMG, can't believe it !
I very much doubt there will be an official 6.5 update. Look at it from HTC's point of view, there's just no financial reason to do it.
hi
u nailed it buddy im 100% with u but then we have great cooks so im sure well get a good clean bug free ROM soon

It's hard to figure out HTC's marketing strategy. They introduce a newer version of a product with the same or sometimes inferior features. Take the Touch cruise 2, for instance. The older one had a better camera. The screen of the Opal is lowered and that makes it hard to reach the close button. As for the official upgrade, the word out is it will only be for the diamond 2 and touch pro 2. But when it comes to hotfixes, jade comes in first with practically none= no major issues to fix.
I too have asked HTC support about WM6.5 and have gotten the same answer - no WM6.5 for the Jade. But i asked them some 3 weeks ago, or more. Things may have changed in the mean time.

I thought 21854 is the official release. My future release features 21859 so is a bit newer than the official . I solved a problem it had with office, my mistake after all. So the in the new megade wm 6.5 will have as much bugs as the official release. (maybe a bit less/more)
If u look at the specs of the Touch2, it's very clear it's just an upgrade on Jade. Apart from the improbable stuff like RAM and ROM. the rest are nearly a match. some of the features that jade lacks, just a couple of registry tweaks and shortcut assigned keys..and you're on the GO! Save $$$...and a prettier phone. LOL

More than a long shot I would say, since allowing Jade owners to update 6.5 would mean they would not have an incentive to upgrade to Touch 2. Phones like ours requires a lot of thought at the beginning and more user friendly phones like Nokia are hard to beat. Believe me, I've tried to convert quite a few people!

this is good news, but it may only be close, similar or even the same as the ROMs we are enjoying with the Cooks here in XDA, we owe everything to them!

I would disagree , some cooked are far better in terms of speed and response. But many suffer problems due to mtty problem, flashing to much, and flashing back to stock fixes this and after that you are good to go stock, so every once in a while if you are an avid flasher you should flash a stock rom to avoid your mtty to clog up and cause freezes and hickups.
+1 on that. If stock roms were better than cooked roms, this site would have shut down before it even got started. Even back in the days before cooking 6.5 roms, there where 100's of avid flashers trying to get the best out of their device.

add me to the list of those who had to flash to a STOCK ROM to correct a freezing issue. i reflashed the custom ROM 3 times and my device's issue did not go away. i flashed a STOCK ROM, 2 hard resets, then flashed the SAME custom ROM and no problems to date. oh yeah, i'll be SHOCKED if HTC creates a WM 6.5 ROM for the HD. if they were to give us one, it would be interesting to evaluate performance differences.
lol
we will never see WM6.5 from hTc. i know it's christmas, but wake up guys.

I believe you as i was speaking to a guy who works for Telstra the other day and he said that there will be a official Htc 6.5 rom for HD sometime in January in Australia.
To be honest, the day HTC officially release wm6.5 will be the day aliens make contact with earth
As for stock roms being better than cooked roms, obviously you've been trying the wrong cooked roms. I would never flash back to a stock rom for everyday use, just wouldn't happen. Cooked roms bring faster, more reliable, improved devices. The basic stock rom for the HD was a joke. After owning the Hermes, Diamond etc I was very disappointed with the stock rom and I thank all the great chefs out there for making the HD a better device!!
Also, I haven't had a freeze yet, so no need to flash back to stock....yet
I flashed back to stock because that is the fastest ROM i could find.. i tried all sorts of ROM's, Dutty's, LEO, NRG, Kwbr, Laurentius, etc.
But all were sluggish and very unresponsive. Now i have the stock ROM with Manila 1.3 and it is fast as hell..

Still it would be interesting to see what build they propose.

Sorry but I have to disagree with this statement. Stock roms have always been slower. The only times our phones function as they are meant to is after a chef (long may they live) as cooked up a treat.
I have now had 6 different HTC's 2 x hermes, 1 x Touch dual, 1 x Kaiser, 1 x Touch Pro and now a Touch HD. Every single one of them has performed way beyond what a stock rom offered after I loaded a cooked one. This is just a simple fact.
well i do hope this is true, with official W6.5 ROM for HD, maybe then chefs can get their hands on updated / "official" HD drivers that are meant for W6.5...
Gheh, let's put some more oil on this bonfire...
I've flashed my girlfriends Topaz with the 6.5 stock rom and it outperforms my HD in EVERY aspect! I thought it could also be with my HD and i flashed the stock 6.1 NLD ROM and wow! I had forgotten how FAST 6.1 was. Compared to 6.5, 6.1 is ALOT faster and responsive. Now, what went awfully wrong with 6.5 here?
Bummer i'm so accustomed to manila 2.5 and the finger-friendliness of 6.5, because it's slow as hell. However, if HTC would release an official ROM, it'd be the first thing i'd flash back on my HD.

Just thought I would share this here.

Any rate. Nice to have a official backup for warranty purposes.
January 6th 2010. Still in the rumor mill. When the source is tmonews.
People tend to trust it.
I'm going to stick with my super fast build of 6.5.3 that our wonderful cooks have provided. In my experience with past phones with T-Mobile and software updates then this new 6.5 from TMO will be very slow.... like a snail. I think the cooks here put together a much faster, more practical ROM. I agree that the news is terriffic for everyone not able to flash to a new ROM but I am excited to see what our cooks come up with next!

If you have HardSPL already, then you'll be able to flash whatever ROM you like, so yes, you'll be able to use T-Mobile's officials ROMs.
Now that Tmo has made 6.5 available forthe Tp2 and Dash 3G. is it possible to somehow make that version work for the original Shadow? Seems to me like it should be a stable build? My wife has the Dash 3G and I've upgraded hers to 6.5, seems pretty sweet. I'm holding out for a snapdragon model but sure would like to upgrade my poor old Shadow somehow, without having to worry about this key not working and that function not performing correctly as I seem to read about from the ROMs that everyone else talks about. Help me out here!
You could always use the 6.5 ROM from Allshadow.com...I used it for nigh on 6 months without any real problems, only reason I stopped using it was when I upgraded phones heh.
Thanks for the reply ashasaur. I'll consider this but I'm still perplexed why an official ROM can't be reconfigured to use on my Shadow. There has got to be someone smarter than me that can do this!
Ah, I see. Well the main reason why the Shadow 07/09 will never get an official 6.5 from T-Mobile of course is because development for them from HTC stopped some time ago. The Shadow was never really a big time seller, and HTC is notorious for not supporting devices that don't sell well.
The other reason that an official-ish ROM is unlikely is because of hardware compatability between models. While it's true that the Snap/Dash 3G is technically just an upgraded Shadow, the hardware is COMPLETELY different.
So like I say, the unofficial AllShadow WM 6.5 is probably your best bet for 6.5 on the Shadow. While I can understand your want for an official ROM, custom ROMs are most of the time VASTLY superior to stock or official ROMs. Much less overhead, better preinstalled programs, no crapware etc. I would at least give it a try!
