About a week ago I started getting low storage memory warning everytime I would use my phone. Memory showed about 600K left so I deleted the few installed programs I had in main memory and it got back up to 6 megs. Now I'm getting the warning again and as of this posting I'm down to 700k. I just cleaned out IE cache, ran clean ram , and soft reset with little or no change. I'm using a TPC rom and have been for a few months so I didn't think that was the a problem. What else should I try? Could I have a virus or hardware fail? My storage card hasn't been affect.

I checked. I don't have that many since I flashed a little over a month ago.
its best to post this question in the TPC forum...
i remember reading in that thread that a couple of TPC's later ROMs suffered from a problem (as did other WM6.5 ROMs around that time from other chefs) which involved a huge log file building up over time. the fix involved deleting some registry key named "deblogger" or something.
once again, my recollection is kind of vague but i know that this issue existed because abusalza and TPC both had ROMs that had this issue and they both posted a working resolution to the issue in their threads.

I remember scanning something like that too before I went up to V11. I guess I'll have to dig through that 7000+ thread to find a solution. Its not in at the beginning of the thread like the rest of the fixes.

ok if you use internet explorer alot go to menu-options(or something along those lines) - and find where ever you delete temporary files. it always clears up a few megabytes

SOLUTION:
- With Registry Editor go to:
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\HTC\Deblogger
delete the whole Deblogger folder
- Soft Reset
- Delete the folder Deblogger with cprog inside in the Device Memory.
You have no more cprog growing and the mobile runs smoothly.
Do this procedure again if you do a hard reset, because the Deblogger is cooked inside Windows 6.5 build.
Thanks guys it was the deblogger issue. It was a 67 meg file. I deleted the deblogger registry entries and then the cprog file.

I've read countless threads about editing the selector.utf file in a hex editor or by using the fix.exe file. I've tried both and neither have gotten rid of the warnings for me. I've tried using tckmax with no spaces, one space, and three spaces after the x and before the comma.
Everything I've read seems to say this fixes that issue but it's not working for me. I've soft reset multiple times after updating this file.
Any ideas?
I believe this is down to the version of operamini you're using, it did work with earlier versions, pain isn't it. I have the same issue. I'm hoping the operamini mods at opera-mini.ru will port the latest 2.06 version to english soon.

also check out the latest Jbed I've just posted a note to the General forum on; it's stated it no longer has security checks (haven't tested this myself)
it does work. i am have been using it and you just need to comfirm the initial connection when you first run the program.
I think that's the one he's saying he can't get rid of - the one in the beginning of every session of OM4 (when you first run it). Yes, I have the same issue. Apparently, you might need to upgrade (or even dowgrade) to a specific version of the Esmertec midlet mgr. I did and was able to get it to work, but i noticed horrible battery drain with that version. It may have been a coincidence, but when i went back to my old version the batt life was back to normal. I figure between the risk of it having that issue and the extra mem space it took up, I figured the couple extra clicks at the beginning of each session weren't an issue for me...
good luck...if you are interested in the specific midlet mgr version i used, you can follow my posts in this thread: http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1270419&highlight=selector.utf

I have this problem with the camera on the herald.
Once I press the camera button, it does nothing, but the screen and dpad lights up. That's it. The program doesn't even open.
After that, I tried to open it through the programs folder and still nothing happens...
Does anyone have the cab file for the latest camera build for herald or a fix to this problem. It's been bothering me for so long.
Also, once I am able to obtain the fix or cab file, I will have completed a new rom for the herald AND wing that will publish ASAP.
Any help would be appreciated! =]

All I can tell you, I already said in the PM. I've done this before, twice now that I think about it. Once I just started the ROM from scratch, the second time... umm.... I don't remember how, but I fixed it. It was a small dumb little file, too... send me a copy of the ROM, RGU's and all and I'll see what could be missing. Or download my ROM and try to match the OEMAPP folders between them and see what files you're missing.

That's exactly what i did, i used your rom to compare with mine and everything is basically the same...
I also started from scratch again and it still won't work. I'm starting to believe that it may be a program that i have added to the rom.
Did you check ALL the OEM folders? Or just the OEMAPPS? What have you added if you don't mind revealing it to the world.

do you still want me to send you my .nbh file so you can take a look?
I'm not home right now, but go ahead. Make sure you leave the RGUs intact, though. It might be something in the registry as well.
I glanced over it quickly and found the following files missing from your ROM that were in my ROM. I didn't look TOO hard so I may have missed a few things.
OEM_Lang_0409
DRM0409.dll

I know I gotta finish cleaning my ROM... but I'm so focused on getting that flashing limiter taken off...
all right, i have the camera working now because i download the camera build for the hermes, but since it's not the same, everything is distorted and out of place. all i need to do is fix that up and i think i should be able to release this rom.
Where did you find the camera build? I am having the same problem. I have tried two different ROMs, but I think it may be related to JasJam Vs. Hermes. I have the JasJam and the camera app doesn't even pretend to start.
it's all right!!! i got everything fixed! i'm pretty much going to release it now and hope all turns out well!
@ prostar. you need the reg files for the camera. the reason why it wasn't working for me was because i didn't have them. I was able to do it by breaking down any herald ROM and extracting the specific reg files for the camera and BOOM! it worked like a charm...took me a while to figure it out. if you would like, pm me and i'll see what i can do to help you

As funny as dooby's reply was, oddly enough, some people do not like having the cabs stay on their device. It wastes space and is a bit annoying to navigate after reflashing a rom. With the advent of the UC capable roms, I would have to say that if you like keeping your cabs around, customize it into your setup. You can read about UC here and here.

You be quiet with that oversized waste of space post.
I was complaining about WM deleting cabs from my storage card. It doesn't bother me to delete them from the device itself. I still think it should be a toggleable setting at least to exclude the SD card.
Its actually kind of helps me to have the cabs delete themselves. I just keep a folder on my PC with all the cabs -- then when I put it on my Storage Card after a Hard Reset or New Rom, I can tell what is installed easy cuz the cabs disappear. I don't want them to stay on the phone. Just my preference.

I know what you were asking. I linked you to the video because "it is always better to reply than to start a new thread" and I think you should have made use of XDA's "best kept secret, the Search button."
The former would allow you to ask specific ROM makers why they don't include. The latter would have given you the answer you seek from the ROM makers themselves (since they've all been asked this question before).
You didn't actually think you were the first to ask this question, did you?
Nope, not that it matters. It was an open question to all, except smart asses like you. I wasn't asking rom makers specifically but everybody and their opinions.
I know how to Search, I do it all the time, except I don't have the time for it as I'm at work right now.
I thank you for wasting time ans space again, though, with a second 100% unhelpful post, my good sir.
Edit: I'm done here.

I for one did wanted to cook it into my past and current releases but never had any luck getting it to work. The only rom I've every used that had it working correctly was pdaviet roms. But I have spent some time with my up coming rom and was able to cook it into it. So my next release Open Touch v4.0 does have it included.
For me it has been a learning process working with the base rom itself and there are many things we want it to do but some times it just will not work the way we want it to.
Regards,
Well a read only cab file stays after installation. I assign all my cab files "read only" attributes, either from desktop PC before I put in on my phone, or use total commander to do that.
I didnt know this was a Debate just why it has access to remove the cabs from our memory cards. I myself hate cab delete because ive used a number of roms lately all of them Crash hard on me. I think i figured out what is going on but i work 12 hour shifts and if it freezes up and i have to hard reset at work i need to get the things i use most back up on the phone.
Try sprite backup...
After hard reset I can get back to the original state in minutes.
Backup folder
Just copy your cabs twice. Once to the phone for install, and once to your PIM backup folder. That way you'll always have a spare. You can copy those and reinstall your important apps anytime.
Firstly forgive me if this has already been dealt with, but I did a search and couldn't find anything.
My device is showing 4.1MB free of 133MB, which seems very low. I don't think I've downloaded anything significant but I don't know how to find major files which shouldn't be there.
Any help would be appreciated.
Do you archive your text messages, and never erase them? You might have a build up of picture / video mail, if you do that excessively.
Ni I delete them
Is your device running sluggish.
If it's not you are creating a problem out of nothing.
Maybe you have too many CABs or programs installed. Think about removing some.
But if you have your phone how you want it and its not running slow, then don't worry about it. Why have memory you're not going to use.
It's not running sluggish at all. I was just concerned that 4 out of 133MB didn't seem much!
What ROM are you using? It might have a dynamic Page poll which means It will use what it can.

How do I find that out?
compimeh.0409.dat
You may want to search your windows directory for this file. I came across a post several days ago and it amazed me. I am not sure if anyone found a solution for this yet. Here is the thread you may want to read and the links included if you find this file on your device...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407180
you may want to try a hard reset see if it fixes the issue but back up your data.
I've previously used TreeSize. Try googling for 'treesize ppc'.
It's an old app, but does its job perfectly. It'll show you whats using your storage space.

Thanks to Kaze0110 and mad-tunes. I downloaded treesize and found a 77MB music file!!!

Anyone know how i can make Internet Explorer the default browser? I tried and couldnt find it.. An answer is all i am looking for.
This was originally named something else, but I renamed it so I could find it again. It's buried in a thread somewhere.
Anyway, this restores the registry settings for IE and has fixed IE getting hosed a few times. By Opera, or seemingly randomly. I've had to run this at least 3 times in the last 3 months.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.. you made my day :]
Thanks
Thanks works perfectly on my T-Mobile wing
This worked on my Fuze too. It is a big help.

There are cab extractors I'm sure that could be used on it, but otherwise I wouldn't have a clue, I just saved it from another thread. I couldn't find the thread, so I just attached the cab I'd saved.

Unzip it was WinRAR and have a look at the _setup.xml.
Or try a product like WinCE CAB Manager, or any other good cab creation software
Or just google, creating CAB files, there's lots of suggestions

This worked on my HTC Touch Pro and my HTC Touch Pro II ...Opera just isn't ready to be the default browser. Too much overhead, its just too slow (even on the Touch Pro II) and I just cant count on it for viewing web pages consistantly like I can with IE. One day I will be able to watch a YouTube video on my Windows Mobile phone ...still waiting for that day. The Droid certainly is a fast bugger and can you tube but between the keyboard and the excessive power usage ...and quite honestly lack of application support ...I am sticking with Windows for now. This little fix made my life much better. Thanks again.
