For some reason the rom I am using doesn't have the maps app with it, and I can't get it in the market either.. Can someone give me a copy of it?
Maps is a proprietary google app. I would suggest getting a rom that has it.
try downloading from the market an app called "market enabler" after that you may be able to download the maps app from the market. or take one of the numerous roms in the development forum and just extract out the maps.apk.
Maps was removed from the market.

Hi
I flashed SenseHero 2.2 ROM which is a pretty good Android 2.1 flash. Unfortunately, it comes without Google Maps and native HTC PDF viewer. Where can I get this apps from? I could not get any answer on SenseHero forums.
Thanks.

Thanks for the apk but I get "Application not installed" error even though I enabled unknown sources in application settings.
It's strange I can find Google Maps on Androlib site but it does not appear in Market search. Does Google restrict application based on client country?

Yes some countries do not get all apps. But there is something called Market Enabler,... Have a look for that.
And try these again for PDFViewer,... Put both in the same folder and then try to install again.
Let me know how it goes.

The new files give me the same error. I also tried to install Market enabler and its apk cannot be installed either. Seems like the project is outdated, the authors say they don't support the latest Market version.
I followed these instruction: http://strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk which say additional libraries should be installed. After I put the libraries in the right place the application installed OK but it won't start. So I guess I will be needing the correct PDFViewer version (for Android 2.1). If anyone has it, please...
I need Switch Pro widget but I can't find it on Market. I know it's paid, and went to app brain but can't buy/install it for some reason.
Also, what's the best widge/app for calendar and events?
you need to get marketenabler to be able to purchase apps if your not in the US / other market supported country.
Myself i use the default calendar widget, its good enuff.
I use Pure Calendar widget.
I use Smooth Calendar. It's free and simple.

The file you are downloading from their Google project site is actually a html file. Open this link with your browser http://uploaded.to/file/en3pg4 and download the file. Then install it on your device.
Or you can download it on your computer and install it via adb.
I really like "Android Agenda Widget". http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.roflharrison.agenda

FYI, Google market is based on a carriers, phones and countries that you were residing at. So, some of the google apps is not available for certain countries.
As a solution, we need to download the 'missing' apps manually rather than through our phone/tablet.
There's a lot of site offering these kind of apk.
This site here offer complete list of google apps with periodically update..
or just flash this gapps-gb-full-20110815-signed.zip

Hello everyone,
I recently rooted my KF HD 8.9 and installed the Play Store. All is well and most of the apps I want installed without an issue.
However there's one app that I swear by that isn't "supported on this device". Chrome.
I ended up sideloading an APK I grabbed from the web but that's neither ideal and it's not a current version.
My question is:
Is there a way to bypass the "not supported" message via an app like Market Enabler?
OR
Is there another (I'd imagine legal) way to obtain the current APK from an alternate website?
Not sure if this will help you but I'll share my method. What I do is just download whatever app I need to my SGS1 and back it up with Titanium Backup. Then, I mount it to my PC and pull the .apk out of the TitaniumBackup folder and side load it. I did this with Nova Launcher and HD Widgets and so far everything is working wonderfully.

It will not help because it will redirect you into Google play
Apktop.com
Since chrome is free then this is legal

Nope, the 1mobile market app does the upgrade by itself.
It even upgrades sideloaded apps
btw... it will mark the kindle skype app as outdataded, do not, i repeat do not substitute the kindle skype with the market skype.

There is a massive thread in the Android apps forums here on xda for this purpose. They only have free versions though because offering paid versions is warez.
