I've read many post where kaiser issues are opposite for what I have.. My htc can connect to activesync with no problem.. but I can charge it no more.. Orange led become up but after a couple of minutes lights is gone.. battery charging icon is up, and charging message is shown but battery keeps going down..
I tried USB-PC cable, Car charger and issue still the same.. yesterday I charged it with wall charger and it worked but i'm affraid it becomes worst..!!
I backed up all my data and did a hard reset.. but still the problem.. Any clue guys..??
my money is on a periodic defect connector where the 5volts and ground connectors don't give a stable consistent connection which is required to charge
as it works one time as the periodic factor
Try looking under Settings - Power - then the advanced tab and looking to see if the do not charge when connected to pc is checked.
This will sometimes keep it from working with third party chargers also.

This problem just started last night and I can't figure out what's the cause of it. After a few hours into charging, the phone just turns itself on and charging stops!
I'm running stock rom with a few performance tweaks. I'm not sure whether this's software or hardware related and if a hard reset would fix anything.
Cheers.
Are you charging using a PC or directly from adapter?
if from PC, click on the battery icon when the device is on and make sure that "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the PC." is unchecked
I use the adapter to charge, I did try to untick the option afterwards and now just osberving if it does it again.
May be this's another bug when it's supposedly only applicable when charged from USB.
Charging issue and low battery life
Hi, I have had my X1 for 4 days now and overall I am very happy with the features, and I have obtained a lot of very useful tips from the XDA forum, thanks. However I am experiencing problems charging the phone and also not happy with the battery life. Last night I left the phone plugged into the USB of the pc that I installed activesync on (pc was, of course, also on) I switched the phone off and ensured that the charging light indicators were flashing. This morning the charging indicators were off but the phone was only partially charged. I then plugged the usb cable into the mains charger and the phone charged to full in 1.5 hours. Does this mean that charging via the pc is inefficient? During the day I made no calls and sent 2 texts, I did have messenger and skype running although I put the phone into sleep mode. Its now about 8pm and the battery has died. I have plugged the usb into my laptop (which does not have the activesync software on it) the charging lights are flashing but I dont think that the phone is charging as the battery is draining. I read on this forum that you must have activesync installed on the pc that you want to charge the phone on, but why is this. Whats the point of that, the whole point of being able to charge via usb is that you can top up anytime you are near a pc, and looking at the battery life I assume I will need to top up a lot. Can I have your thoughts please.
i have been in the same position.
it's probably because your laptop / pc is in hibernate mode / power saving mode..hence it doesnt charge.
try disabling it and see how it goes
Thanks for the prompt reply Berlinberlin
Hi I can confirm that my PC is set to turn off monitor after 20mins and to never turn off Hard Disks and never go into standby and never hibernate. So I don't think that this is the problem but thanks for your thoughts
How long does/should it take to fully charge the phone via usb? How long does it take yours to charge? Since I wrote the post above I have had my phone plugged into my laptop but with the phone swithed off, the charging indicators lights are pulsating. I have now turned the phone on and the battery is 40% charged from being nearly totally depleted (about one hour of charging) . I do not have Activesync on this pc, so the phone will charge on any PC, I assume.
hello.
once i had one x1 charged via usb over night (with a pc with active sync)
the battery depleted the next morning and it doesnt turn on again
so maybe it's better to quit active sync before charging?

The charging problem I've observed has a different effect:
when on charge using the adaptor, the battery charges OK to full and then charging ceases (as it should do)
BUT
if the X1i is connected to WiFi on my LAN, after a time (maybe 30 mins), it commences to recharge and never stops, so the battery can become dangerously overheated.
Disconnecting from WiFi and soft-reset seems to bring the system back to normal.
At this stage I don't know the root cause, but I have a new battery on order. When this turns up, I'll try the same routine and post results. Obviously, I suspect (hope, too) that the "smarts" in the battery are faulty.
x1 charging problem
I' have the same problem with my x1 charging.
The phone after i started charging, turn on and stop the charging.
In the mornig the battery is low.
Is there any solution that fix the problem?

In your case I tend to think the problem is with Wi-Fi using more battery than what it's gaining through charging. I had similar problem with a generic mini-USB charger. Most charging problems are associated with either battery or charger itself.
Even i had a same issue,
But i luckily remembered the setting which i had changed,
Try this,
Setting`s->System-> Power-> Advanced Tab
{code}
Make sure u have selected this option and set it to minimum value,
"Turn off device if not used for"
{code}
Hope this solves issue
Hi!
I have a strange problem: sometimes when I connect the charger (mains outlet) to the Diamond it does not charge. Sometimes it it also does not indicate that the power is plugged in, other times it indicates charging but the battery level does not increase.
If I go to battery settings, tick then untick the checkbox "Do not charge when USB is..." it suddenly starts to charge but sooner or later the charging stops again.
Soft reset usually helps. Is there any patch for this?
EDIT: I noticed it mostly happens when I use the Diamond as a Bluetooth modem. If I stop the connection it starts to charge. Maybe bluetooth consumes so much power that it cannot get enough from the power adapter?
Honestly, I found I had this exact issue. I was not using any applications though, it was simply a bad charger.
Have you tried to duplicate this with just using a USB cable to PC?
I found out it is due to overheating. I was using the Diamond in my car, plugged into the car charger. However, the device turned itself off and would not charge. It was a hot morning. I put a hat over the phone to prevent the sun from shihing at the phone and directed the air cooler of the car to the phone. After a few minutes it started to charge.
The brand new charger I got with my Diamond was defective, i tried an older usb charger from my TyTN II and its been fine since.
Hello everyone,
I have weird problem with my kaiser - it doesn't charge. I tried everything what comes to my mind, but maybe someone will have some new ideas.
When plugged in, yellow LED turns on and it says "charging" in the OS, but battery keeps loosing charge. It doesnt matter if I'm trying to charge it via stock charger or over USB. USB port on device is communicating normally - i can access phone memory or SD card from computer over USB, and I checked that "dont charge over USB" is NOT ticked.
I found Kaiser dead in the morning while on wall charger, with yellow LED on. Tried to charge over USB, same thing happens.
I then opened the device (thanks for nice guide for taking kaiser apart) and confirmed that situation is as following:
- voltage on inner contacts of usb (on the PCB side) is 4.5V
- voltage on the pcb side of the battery contacts is 0.8V when plugged in, and when yellow LED is turned on (I believe that in this situation there should be full 4.5V from USB port which i measured and confirmed that is really there on the USB)
- I tried to charge battery individually, (out of the device) and it takes charge normally and keeps it (for a 2 years old device and battery thats great)
- tried to reflash stock rom - all went well (another confirmation that usb is working), but no change, battery still wont take charge
Phone specification:
Kaiser 130 (T-mobile MDA Vario III)
Hard SPL 3.56
ROM and radio: Stock t-mobile 6.1
Battery: stock DynaPack
So it seems that im in the market for new PCB or Kaiser with broken screen or flat cable - offers on pm, please
Oh, it seems that i was able to solve what red LED means - it simply means that there is no (or either failed or inadequate) battery while USB is plugged in and should be charging - but that doesnt mean that it is main battery - there is another small backup battery on PCB. That is my observation, was unable to check it in literature or service manual if im right with that opinion, but i do hope that i helped someone with RLOD
Have a nice day,
darko
bump! anyone?
curious, havwe you tried another battery? You can get them on ebay for $5-$10. I killed my USB plug, I was able to connect with USB, but it would not charge. So I purcahsed a 3-in-1 adapter (which supports the usb plug on top ane bottom), when that finally died I purchased a cradle with extra battery charger. I just keep the spare battery it in and swap them when one dies. No charger needed.
I can help maybe. It has to do with the software. The USB connector can't be the porblem otherwise it would not see the power and let the Red LED turn on. In older devices and some of the new is a lock. It prevents you from charging the phone with a charger not made by HTC. There is a cab called Batfix.cab (Or anything like that). Try to install it. Maybe it helps. The 0.8 Volt only can be normal cause the voltage has to do with the battery. If you take it out the System won't try to charge it cause it doesn't get any power from the battery. That is done to prevent it from charging a fully dead battery cause that could harm your device and yourself cause the battery may explode.

hi, I want to buy a non USB charger so I can plug my battery in and charge it without the phone needing to be present. What charger did you buy, can you post a link or a pic etc. thanks!
Hi Peeps
My Tytn II does not want to charge. When I plug the charger in an orange LED lights on the front panel which would indicate that it is charging, however the battery doesn't seem to actually get charged. I have tried 2 different batteries and it is the same with both. I can't see any problems with the pins either.
Anyone got any ideas!
Thanks a lot.

Will it charge with a usb cable ? Will it sync ? My Kaiser hasn't been able to charge with wall or car chrger for a while now, but it will still charge with usb.
Check the output on your charger...for a while I was using a 150ma charger by accident and wondering why the battery level was barely budging
If you can't charge when using battery charger but are able to charge when using USB maybe your charger doesn't supply enough current to charge the battery.
Usually you can read power rating on the lower side of the charger and it's better if it's near 1000 mA (o 1 A)...
Using one of my car charger when TomTom is on and I use bluetooth makes my kaiser drain battery as that charger doesn't supply current enough...
You may check the follow: drive your phone in stand by and check if the battery really starts charging... It positive, this is the proof your matter came from a faulty/insufficient charger.
Tilt not charging
I have a Tilt that I upgraded from WM6.0 to WM6.1. Prior to upgrading to WM6.1, my phone charged and synced via an USB without issue. After I upgraded - only the AC charger would work. I switched USB cables, tried different car chargers, different manufacturers of car chargers - every thing I could think of but I can only charge the phone through the factory charger!
My wife has a tilt as well, but is running the original 6.0 ROM and can use any charger or sync cable without encountering any problems.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

It won't explain the car chargers not working (assuming they work fine on your wifes Tilt) but if you check Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced Tab, there is a tick box at the bottom, along the lines of not charging when connected to USB, is this ticked? What colour light is displayed when you plug it into a USB port when the Tilt is powered down fully?
HI all,
C6903 would previously charge using an official Sony dock cord. Yesterday, however, the phone started making the 'phone flat' beepjng noise (it was close to flat), so plugged into the dock to charge. The beeping continued every few seconds, the screen rotation started playing up (I do have a screen rotation lock that hasn't been a problem) and the phone won't fully charge (the charge symbol is there, just keeps dropping. The error message "the connected power source is not sufficient. The battery is draining faster than it is charging. Minimise device usage while charging" popped up. It does charge VERY slowly if the phone is off airplane mode and the screen is off (it charged approx 30% in 10 hours, this way).
No rogue apps, etc. I reset to factory settings and the problem is still there. Phone charges fine using standard micro-usb.
Here in the NL, the carrier (KPN) send your phone away for minimum 2 weeks (& will not give you a replacement), and they will likely just test with the standard USB charger, which is fine.
Anyone experienced this & any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam
sounds like the cable is faulty, probably only one way to find out if you know someone with a dock - or just send the dock back to were you purchased it declaring it faulty
I've had similar issues, I solved it by rebooting the phone and plugging it in using sony usb charger until the charge is over 30%, after I got mine to 30% using usb, it then was able to charge using the dock.
you could check the dock with a multimeter, but there's not really much to the dock itself, so unless it's a broken wire, the problem is with the wall charger which the docks plugged into or the phone
Thanks all. I will check if it is the dock/cable or the power plug when my wife gets home - she also has the Z1.
Thanks again, will keep updated.
Adam
Yeah, sadly the cables don't last too long - went through 2 cables up until now and many more to come.
