alright guys, I am gonna admit right off the bat that I only did one search here and when I came up with nothing I made a new thread. i'm sorry but let me explain.
I was using confused stu's mobile vista 1.3 and I liked it a lot, but I wanted to test a new rom and so I flashed and I hate this one, it is extremely slow. the problem is that when I flashed this rom my comp crashed and now I have no comp for at least two weeks. is there any way to perform all the steps of an sd flash with out a computer? I know I need to format my sd card and extract the RUU from the rom I want but I can't seem to format my sd card without a computer.
thanks in advance I will love whoever get's me my old rom back

1. Your SD card really should be Fat32 from the get go.
2. You dont need the RUU. You need the .nbh file and rename to KAISIMG.nbh and place in the root directory of the SD card.
thanks

thanks tater, that's what I meant was the signed_RUU.nbh, but I have another favor to ask you guys, will someone download the rom and post the nbh file here, or someone with the ROM please post it here so I can go back to my favorite ROM? that would be greatly appreciated

Are you posting on your phone? If not use the computer you are you using to post?
yeah i'm using my phone to post cause I don't have a computer at home with internet, and my comp with my roms on it died and is getting fixed
download the rom with to ur phone then....i've done it many times before
the problem is that I can't get the rom from anywhere except 4shared and that won't work on my phone, I can't find a mirror. plus it coms as a .rar file and I don't have winrar on my phone.
Then Download PocketRAR. Works Great.
You can format SD card with Pocket Mechanic Pro, SK Tools, Resco Explorer, etc.
everthing I have searched to get pocket rar on my phone has gotten me to pocketrar3.71.exe and when I try to run that it tells me that it is not a valid pocketpc application, I don't know if i'm just stupid or what but I don't think I can deal with this rom any longer. the other reason I wanted someone to post the nbh file was because the only place I can find the rom from stu is on 4shared which doesn't work on my phone, kep getting some scripting error and the phone locks up
here ya go I think thats it

Can you not get to a pc at your work? The SD card must be fat32.
Or try to get Storage Tools 2.2.

KAISIMG.nbh has to be in the root directory of the sd card
Note: Please keep this thread restricted to Bionic-specific issues. Atrix (and general) webtop2sd issues should be discussed in this thread instead. Threads for other devices are referenced at the top of the main webtop2sd thread.
Discuss webtop2sd here (the other thread will be kept clean for announcements, FAQs, etc.).
Before you report an issue:
Make sure it's not on the Known Issues list first!.
Basic debugging, since these are going to be questions I ask anyways:
If you hit problems with the Android webtop2sd application, you'll need to tell me the error, and give me the last few lines of adb logcat. Run this adb command, which will filter out most of the unimportant lines:
adb logcat ActivityManager:i AndroidRuntime:i webtop2sd:i *:s
Are you actually booting from your SD card? You can find this out by checking the Diagnostics tab in webtop2sd, under "Currently mounted webtops". If webtop isn't listed, you're not booted from your SD card. If this is the case, report what ROM you're running from.
Don't worry about webtop-configurator on the Droid Bionic for now. The current version won't work, but the next version will.
Note: One of the early updates will involve being able to create a filesystem file in /data so that you don't need an SD card (something that was present in earlier versions of my scripts but ended up being impractical for the Atrix, but is quite practical for the Bionic).
Thanks to tallnerd1985, who made this port possible.
Make some noise people! Looking forward to this! 900M /osh just doesn't cut it

Hell, since our phone is so much better than the Atrix as far as storage space goes, we will not need to use our slow sdcards, we can use part of the 8gb of internal memory for the Webuntu partition.
you know, I'm glad you said that. I was hoping we could change that partition. Use up some of that extra space.

Sorry, but somebody else is going to have to figure out how to repartition the internal memory. That's one of those things that I'm not going to touch with a 20-ft pole....
The main reason I don't want to use /mnt/sdcard for a file is that it will then cause some pretty severe problems if you ever try to mount that from a computer (since Android won't be able to unmount /mnt/sdcard, since the filesystem file is still in use). I suppose if you wanted to guarantee that you would never, ever want to get to contents of /mnt/sdcard over USB, maybe, but that's not something I'd want to try to enforce.
so back to the sdcard-ext partition.
out of curiosity, how large are you making the webuntu partition?

Would it be possible to install the system partitions to /osh and have /usr and /home on the
Sd card or is that useless with class 10 cards? Not sure about the speed of the internal memory. If it's faster it would be a worthy feature...

afaik, internal memory is going to be a fair amount faster than an SD card. Also, /home is a symlink to /data/home, so it wouldn't end up on the SD card anyways. At that point, /osh/usr is going to be most of /osh, so you might as well just have all of /osh live on the SD card.
Any progress on webtop2sd? I'm completely out of space with the limited amount... Can't wait till this is ready

hey guys im making this thread cus androidboss dint know how to do this and im mkaing it easier for him(might help others too so )
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DEAD SDCRADS PHONES LAPTOPS DESKTOPS AND ANYTHING ELSE
requirements
-windows computer
-phone with swiftdroid or any rom that supports inti.d boot scripts
-recovery 5.0.2.3
1. backup all sdcard stuff to computer.
2. wipe all data from the sdcard. after that use this to remove all partitions from sdcard( if you do not have any other partitions on sdcard skip to the end bellow the last picture)
http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
the pics will look may look different cus im using a older version
mine looks like this

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
to remove all the other partitions
when all is done click apply at the top lefthand corner. at the end after it refreshes make sure there is only one partition left . the FAT32 partition.
so now the card has no data put it in the phone and boot into recovery(5.0.2.3). there go to advance>partition sdcard>EXT size 2M(2M if you dont want a ext partition but if you want then the size is up to you )>swap size 256m
power down the phone and put back data into the sdcard. now enjoy swap
well this is my first thread so hope it helps!!
hahaha thank you
every much bs828 !!!
You helped me a lot!!!
Thanks a lot mate.
Edit: will use this on my girls gt540.
These typos was sent from my Nexus S [I9023]
custom rom??
I use this method more than 2 or 3 month, thats nothing new. Mur4ik Swiftdroid roms use this method, automatically find&use SD card's swap partition.
Before that, i made a video for my 2.1 Ultimate rom, how to partition SD card under windows to use swap&ext partition. (I use swapper for swap and joe's autoapp2SD in my ROM) Sometimes it not possible because compatibility problems between win&card readers but newer CWM recoveries able to partition cards.
yeah like i said androidboss did not know how to do this so i made this. others may also find is useful so why not make it public ??

Im quite a newbie in this, how exactly does swap and ext porticions work and what do they do ?
the memory card you are using is in a fat32 format so by partition it to let say a ext3 file type you can store apps on it(if im not wrong the phone's memory is also ext3) swap works as addition external ram used to run apps

I'm running CM9 Android 4.0.3
http://mikegapinski.androidus.pl/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-aosp/
I've done everything like the tutorial says, but I had older clockwork recovery 2.5 I guess something like that, and I've done the same thing in recovery selected advance>partition sdcard> EXT3 and selected 2gb then selected 256MB Swap, but when I run the OS and enter free in terminal it says swap 0.
What could have caused the problem?
Thanks in advance!

look in root explorer (or any root file manager), in folder etc/init.d
if there isnt script called 07swapon, the swap wont active. and afaik, mike's ics doesnt have this script. u must add it manually.

How can I open *.img files so I can get the 07swapon file?
Can you give me the download link for swapon file?

so now when i put a rom on my phone I have to move it to /data/media now?
It's like that for a reason, though. 4.2.2 added multiuser, so the primary(or just the first) users SD card files go under 0, the second under 1, etc

Well for me all it really does it complicate my ability to flash ROMs quicker. Now I have to drop Rom through root of storage on my computer, then move the ROM from /SDCard to /data/media for recovery to recognize it. Booo.
Oh you misunderstand me. You need to place all your files on /sdcard/0 to have them be seen by recovery. Unless your issue is more serious than I suspect. >. >

Well I just tested it. Recovery is seeing /data/media.... I just tried it by moving trickdroid 6.0.0 to /SDCard and then I had to move it from /SDCard to /data/media and booted in to recovery. Then I was able to flash it. So I guess that is an issue. Man I've had enough issues tonight with this darn phone and flashing ROMs.
I'll mess around with mine. I have a replacement coming on Monday so if I manage to brick it, yay less work I have to do to return to stock before shipping.

I noticed that in Mounts and Storage Menu at the bottom it says this
- format /data and /data/media ((/sdcard) So I assume that shows that is seeing /data/media as /sdcard
When I go to show log in advanced menu part of the log says "using /data/media for /sdcard/

With the update of TrickDroid to Android 4.2.2, your SD card is utilised in a different way to allow for multi users on Android. Because of this, you will not be able to see any of the data on your SD card when you flash the latest ROM. This means that your gallery will appear to be empty, for example.
It is highly recommended that you back up your SD card to your PC (or whatever you prefer) before flashing this ROM. When you install the ROM, format your SD card and do a completely clean install, then restore your SD card contents from your PC after the ROM is flashed.
If you don’t want to format your SD card, then once the ROM is flashed, you will need to navigate to /data/media/ to view all of the files located on your SD card. You will need to use Root Explorer for this, as I don’t think other File Explorers will see any data in this location. From here, you can either copy them across to a new location, or delete all files and copy your previously backed up files from your PC back to the phone. I would suggest the second option is the easiest and fastest.

they both work the same way. Doesn't have anything to do with my issue I don't think though. I had another issue earlier here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306333
I installed ARHD without system wipe so that's when my entire /sdcard data got moved to /data/media. That didn't work as my phone wouldn't boot. After several times full wipe worked any my phone booted, but like I said pretty much my entire phone was in /data/media. I had no idea at first and thought it was all wiped until I saw that when i was going to flash trickdroid 6.0.0 it showed my /data/media. But it was named /sdcard in recovery so i was confused as hell, like recovery hadn't "refreshed" and didn't realized none of that was their. Then I found out that my stuff really was still no my device in /data/media and thats when i realized thats what recovery was looking at.

Looks like TWRP is working fine. Hate the UI though. Gonna reflash cwm and see what happens. If it still does it I guess I'll continue to use TWRP.
cwm still does it. Oh well TWRP it is.
I rooted with TWRP on my virgin mobile phone. I wanted to get rid of the internal storage crap. I have 4 Gig internal storage it shows 2.8 of that being used in "other" storage. I really want to remove it to free up phone space.
I downloaded titanium backup but after uninstalling apps it reboots and eventually everything pops back in. I've also tried link 2 sd with slightly more success.
I thought if I could just make all new apps download to the sd that should help, but even though the terminal emulator says the sd is the primary storage it's still loading to the phone first.
If I install a new ROM will that get rid of all the other stuff and let me download to the SD?
Also, I haven't been able to get S-off to work yet, will I still be able to put a new ROM in?
I only somewhat know what I'm doing, I could use a lot of direction. Thanks
Oh also, I can't backup in recovery because it says I don't have enough storage space :/

You unfortunately cant get the rest of the 4GB space back. The only amount of space you'll ever be able to get is a little over 1GB which goes down after a rom install... The reason for that is because HTC was stupid and on all the other partitions there's a bunch of unused space... There's about 10 partitions with at least 175MB FREE on all of them. Why HTC did that is beyond me and most other devs.. Now about getting rid of the bloatware crap, if you don't first install another kernel with write protection removed like this one Kernel write protection removed click here then every time you reboot it's all just going to reinstall itself. So in order to stop that you must flash the kernel in TWRP and then go back and remove everything you want to. Just be careful which stuff you remove but if I was you and you really should do this before doing anything, go back into TWRP and create a backup of your current system so if anything ever goes wrong you can simply restore it and be ok...
Edit.. The reason you can't make the backup in TWRP is because it's set to internal space... At the top after you tap INSTALL change it from internal to SD and then tap home and make your backup.

Oh I see. Thanks for the info. I did set to the sd card but still got an error. I'm trying to format my card now to see if that helps. Do I partition it before backing up?
Also do I run the kernel before installing a new ROM? Or if I run the kernel do you think I'm fine to just keep the HTC one I have and be no worse off?
Eventually I'd like to be able to tether my phone but can't think of any other super special features I'd use

Well if you've never used the SD card with the phone and you don't have nothing important on it then yes I'd recommend you format it and TWRP can help with that in the WIPE section.. You can just flash the kernel now and you'll be fine but you'll need the kernel on your SD card so you can select it in TWRP... So first take care of your SD card so it works with the phone before flashing a kernel.. You'd be fine keeping the rom you have..
Edit: You are from the USA correct? Just making sure so I know if your phone is 32 bit and not 64 bit... I'm pretty sure you're 32 bit though since you have TWRP installed.

What error was it that you got after you set it to the sd card? Do you recall?

It was not enough memory error but I got it fixed.
YeYes US.
I got the backup done and have the kernel installed on my sd card. so close! Is it possible to flash without connecting to the pc?
Are there instructions to do it through the emulator maybe?

Yes you don't need a PC to flash a kernel... What version of TWRP did you install? Because if you use the 2.8.7.0 version of TWRP and up, you can flash from right inside of TWRP all you'd have to do is select install and navigate to where the kernel is on the SD but there's a toggle button on the lower right after you tap install to change it from a zip file to an image file and you MUST fist change it to the image setting otherwise it will not "see" the kernel.img that's on the SD... If you don't have this version then open the play store and download Flashify and flash the kernel while the phone is on and then just reboot after flashing it but be warned Flashify only lets you flash 3 times a day unless you buy the pro version but since you only need to flash one thing "kernel", you'll be ok to use it if you need to and you also have to give it root permission before you can flash.
Yea turns out my twrp version didn't have the option. Well I think I got it done with falshify, the kernel version matches although the baseband version numbers differ
Hopefully I'm all set now!

The Baseband numbers are fine, they're not supposed to match.. As long as you can see that the kernel was flashed by going into settings and about phone there's info in there that will show you if the kernel was installed and another way to test to see if it worked is to uninstall or delete a few apps that are bloatware and then reboot the phone and if they don't reinstall themselves then yep you're good to go! I'm rather surprised that a woman is doing what you are because most guys are freaking clueless and want someone to hold their hand through every single step haha..

If you need anything else, just let me know.
Lol well my husband tried to root it and couldn't figure it out so I had to do it
I screwed something up just now though. The apps like Facebook and chrome still won't move completely to the SD card. The partition looks good but they're still locked to internal memory even with the kernel.
I'm also running busy box so I'm not sure what's wrong.
And now I keep getting a pop-up that android.process.media isn't working :/ I'm about ready to give up I was able to download a few more apps but then something went wrong and now the play store gives a error message about usb storage... I'll probably have to run my recovery. No idea what I did wrong.

Just go into TWRP and tap wipe and then wipe just the Cache and Dalvic cache... Some apps you cannot move because they really need to be on the internal storage to gain access to certain files. Go into settings and tap storage then scroll all the way down in there should be an option to install to the SD card make sure all the boxes are ticked. If the WIPE doesn't stop your problem then you'll need to restore but be a little more careful next time.. Try moving a few things at a time and reboot then wait a few minutes to make sure it doesn't throw any errors like that and if it does, at least you'll only have a small amount of apps to move back and go through to find out which one did it lol..
Yeah, I don't know what happened. I had link2sd and apps2sd and changed some settings. Next thing I know, bam, not working.
But I wiped and it is good so long as the SD card is not mounted. If I mount the SD card it throws the android error again. SO I am formatting the card AGAIN. Yaaaaayyyy. I think partitioning it on my phone wasn't the best idea. So I;m connected to a computer now, and figure while I'm here I will update the TWRP version and maybe install a new ROM for the hell of it.

The SD card has to be partitioned a certain way.. To use Link2SD you have to have 2 partitions one MUST be ext4 because that's what your phone uses as a format type.. The other has to be fat32 or similar... They both must also be set as primary.. I used Mini Tool Partition on the PC to format my SD card but you can find another one... If you don't format it correctly it isn't going to work. Also, a new rom is not going to help anything and unfortunately the stock rom is the best one to use for now because the others have problems.

ext4? I was using this tutorial http://www.techinbuzz.com/how-to-partition-sd-card-for-link2sd-using-minitool/ it says for stock ROM to use ext2? That's what I did the first time. But maybe I will try 4 because I have yet to have it work without a hitch.

Use ext4 for the HTC Desire 510... Most people on here trust me. When you tapped wipe in TWRP didn't you see it say formatting with ext4?

Don't worry oyu have my trust I really appreciate all your help today.
I don't remember seeing it but it's possible. I've got it partitioned again with the ext4 this time. I did get 1GB of memory freed up on my phone so that's definitely a plus. If I can move all the apps I download from here on out to the SD card I think I will be able to use my phone quite happily now! :good:
Or I'll be back tomorrow with more problems hahaha either is possible

Lmfao... You should be OK now as long as you've set everything up the right way.. And you're welcome.
You should learn about Xposed and Xposed Modules because it will make things a lot easier and you can theme your phone to look just about any way possible. There's even a module for Xposed called Downloads2SD and works awesome!!
Edit... By the way, you can also use flashify to flash an updated version of TWRP if you want or you can just flash it via the PC like you did already... The updated ones make flashing much easier! Anyways have a great night.
Ugh still problems. Unfortunately android.process.media is the error I keep getting. It is only when I have the SD card mounted. Even after formatting and setting a new partition. It was fine, then once I installed Link2SD and mounted the script the error started again.
I checked in the folders under "Android" "data" there are the .com.etc... files and then one that says nomedia. I wonder if that's what is causing the problem. Not sure if those type of files are available somewhere that I can reload.

I've formatted the card again and put it in fresh but once I try to download an app to it (straight from playstore, not using link2sd) the error came back. So I definitely broke something. Not sure what. I may try with a brand new SD card tomorrow and see if it will fix it but at this point I'm not optimistic since a complete format of the card from my computer didn't fix the problem. :[

Try to have the Xposed and Xposed Modules... First you need to install the wanam Xposed framework and then reboot and start using modules and there's tons of them... Go read how to install Wanam Xposed after you get that installed you tap download inside of the Xposed app and type downdloads2sd because this is much better than anything else because you don't have to format the SD card all you need to do is set where you want your downloads to go and reboot after setting it all up and then you're all done!!
Except now my SD card isn't working regardless so it won't help until I figure that out

Just reformat the entire SD card but first delete the partitions you made and just make the whole card fat32 and try using the Xposed Module to download to the SD card.
