Hi,
I have a rooted HTC Hero with the 2.3 Modaco rom on and have Copilot install but it keeps freezing?? I have used it twice now on long journeys and after around an hour it will just completely freeze and I have to use taskiller to kill it and start it again.
Does anyone else have this problem?
No such problems with Copilot for me - I used it for nearly 20 hours straight in September. Mind you, I was on Modaco 2.2 for ages as I'd heard there were some problems with 2.3, and then went straight to 2.6. I used Copilot yesterday with 2.6 without issue, but it wasn't a particularly long journey.
Regards,
Dave
I'm running 2.2 and copilot has been trouble free for me as well.
I'm assuming you are getting it updated with the latest bug fixes via marketplace ?
Zuber
hi,
am running rom 2.9 with latest copilot version, locked after about 30 minutes driving :-(
i am on MCR2.9 with the latest co-pilot update.
co pilot is fine, though I do lose GPS coverage sometimes.
I have to quit copilot, disable then enable gps, then load co pilot and its ok again.
my GPS is fine. will try reinstalling copilot and see how i get on.
How to get
Hello guys
were can I get the CoPilot?
Download it from the Market.

I have a HTC Tytn II Pro. Everything works great, except GPS.
The CDs did not have any Tomtom application, but I had my own copies of Destinator, Igo 2006 Plus and Mapopolis, along with Map4Pda.
When I try to access the GPS via any of these apps using COM4:, the machine slows down terribly. I haven't been able to get a fix so far either. This morning Quickfix GPS was downloading fine, now it gives connection errors.
I haven't messed with GPS Control Panel yet, but I am wondering if I have a faulty unit, or does the Tomtom 6.032 unlock/change something to make it work.
Has anyone used the unit's GPS without any Tomtom install first? Did anyone experience any slowness using GPS?
Any suggestions? I tried a hard reset and just installed Map4Pda after that, still no luck.
That strange if you dont have TomTom6 in the Application CD.
It is called:
Installer_Kaiser_ttn_6_032_8351_HTC_WWE_20070716.exe
Check your manual, is TomTom6 mentioned there?
If it is, why dont you contact your supplier and ask?
Btw, I use TomTom6 from CD and it is running fine. Got fix pretty quickly under 30 seconds.
TT6
Seems like TT is not on CDs in north america.
Get it - TT6 works like a charm, fix in less then 7 secs here (use the gps quickfix download) and very responsive - even at high speeds.
No complaints on TT for TyTNII
my app cds had the tomtom app.... bought in vegas (uk plug though)
Please test, some reports the gps lost signal after 1 hour.

My app cd says MEA, so it must be from Middle East/Asia. And manual does not refer to TomTom at all. I bought it through SuperiorGadgets. I don't think it is their fault though, it appears devices from certain regions don't have Tomtom.
With that said, I made another hard reset on Friday evening, first installed Beeline GPS, which got a lock after a minute and QuickGPS was updating fine too. Then I installed my apps, after installing several I checked it again, Beeline was fine. Finally I installed Igo 2006 Plus (June 2007 version) and that is working fine and slowness with GPS is gone away. It makes me wonder what caused it in the first place. I'll install couple more GPS apps and see what happens.
HTC TYTN II GPS (Kais 130) - Got it working.....YES
Hi Guys,
I just bougth this HTC TYTN 2 and it seems ok.
For the GPS, I installed Google maps which did not find any satellites either.
I then copied visualgpsce.exe ( in the attachment) on the kaiser and ran it from there, it got 7 sattelites in less than 10 seconds. after that, google worked like magic. I did not have TOMTOM on my CD either so i could not try it and I am in an area that is not covered by maps from TOMTOM, but i think it will work just fine after this nice warmup.
It seems that the first connection require some clear skies, nice warm up software and some patience.
Thanks and good luck.
I'm in the states, got it from Mobileocity. Came with TT6 on app disc. Works like a charm, finds location within 10sec, no slowdown on system.

No problems here, been working perfectly on journeys of 3 and 4 hours.
Regards
Phil
Yeah, it worked perfectly on my last journey too (each 1.5 hour).
After installing MAPSware GPSmeter Professional Edition v4.5
- my TyTNII build-in GPS stops working (suddenly doesn't work with any application. E.g. TomTom, Google maps. And it never worked with GPSMeter)
- And my TyTNII is suddenly very slow. After you click a button/start a program there is a lot of slack (sometimes more than 2 minutes).
Has anyone the same problem?
What should I do to make the internal GPS work again?
And how can I speed up my TyTNII again (back to "normal" speed)?
Thanks
This has been acknowledged by the developer in a German forum - they are working on a fix/workaround, but no ETA so far.....
Map4PDA will do the same thing. I tried everything under the sun to get my GPS to work again. After that, any program that would open the GPS port wouldn't be able to close it properly, causing my phone to run very slow. Eventually I had to hard-reset my phone and I vow never to use it again.
I have TOMTOM installed on my phone along with GPS test and Quick GPS Now all of these apps are designed to point a COM 4 with a baud rate of 4800 but lately none of them have been able to get a steady signal it is able to pick up the sattelites but not able to get a fix on them. Any ideas?
i've experienced this as well and i found a few solutions to get a fix using tomtom6.
First you may want to upgrade your radio, try searching for the niki radio thats in my signiture.
Next, open quickgps then open tomtom. once both applications are open download on the quickgps application.
Then go back to TT it should be working thereafter.
You may also want to have assisted gps enabled. You can find that feature on the latest version of KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig. if you are using 19199 rom from dutty AdvancedConfig should be under system tools.
have a good day.
I didnt think that I would be able to use that radio considering i live in the UK. I have d/l the newest gps data and tried that method previously but with no luck. It used to work with this setup but one day just stopped getting a fix
QuickGPS update download via ActiveSync
Hi guys (and gals)
Does anyone have the same experience (or at least similar) using HTC Tytn II when downloading updated version for QUICKGPS?
I'm trying to download QuickGPS update via ActiveSync but it doesn't seem to work properly. It's written "Connection Failed. Try again later". I've got no idea what is going on.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks so much and your help is much appreciated.

I had the same problem before
What I did was this: Go to Settings->Connections->USB to PC and uncheck "Enabled advanced network functionality". It worked for me after that
gps signal
I've been having horrible gps fixing problems since I got my phone it was taking up to 10 mins or more to get a fix for every gps program I used until a couple of days ago. I started using garmin xt and my phone went into sleep mode after a min I turned the power back on right after the screen went black and I had fixes on at least 6 satellites. I've tried it again this time I as soon as the program I'm using turns on the gps I powered the phone off then turned it back on and I got gps fixes in at least a minute. I've tried this only a few times from cold starts so give it a try. So far I've tried it with Iguidance 3, htcgpstool, garmin xt, google maps and its worked with all of them. Hope this helps.
I had the issue that others have had. With a 6.1 rom installed the GPS receiver appeared not to use the Quick GPS data.(Noticeable by sats not being in-view straight away).
I switched back to the official HTC 6.0 rom and all was good...........
UNTIL TODAY!
I noticed that sats were not in view when an app was started and GPS locks are extended.
Two hard resets later and the problem persists.
The funny thing is, I hadn't even updated QuickGPS for this to have started happening (I still had a couple of days left.) Several QuickGPS updates later and still have the problem.
Anyone else?
pjam
i don't bother with that buggy POS excuse for a program. Stick with either gpstest or seasgee or sometimes know as quick position
there's a cab made by SH4Y that patches quickgps, some claim it works and some don't but i never use it since it's so buggy once roms have been flashed here and there
For me it's never really been a problem with QuickGPS, more that the receiver just doesn't use the info. I have never had a problem with QuickGPS downloading the data.
Any news on this? There are so many great roms, but most of the newer (winmo6.1) roms don't work properly with QuickGPS. Cold starts of the GPS are just awful and I don't consider GPSTest to be good option, I'd rather run an old winmo6.0 release that works well.
THe only newer ROM i've seen that is decent w/GPS is Duttys Hybrid v2, with 1.58.11.07 radio, but that is getting dated.
I have an inconsistent and strange problem with my gps fix. Especially with a cold start. Sometimes Tomtom Navigator gets a fix within +/- 2-5 minutes. Sometimes not after 20 minutes.
Strange thing: Google maps is always able to get a fix, even if TomTom is not able. Once Google Maps gets a fix, I can start TomTom and then he finds a fix too. So sometimes in order to get a gps fix with TomTom, I have to start Google Maps.
This is a problem, because Google Maps uses internet, which I don't want if I am in a foreign country(Belgium for instance).
I am running Energy.RAPHAEL.21901 With Coockie Home tab 1.7.1,
Navigator 7.915(9196)
Radio version: 1.10.OliNex(don't know if it matters)???
Just ask if you need more information. Hope someone can help me!
Do you have to disable agps?
I am too experiencing similar issues in Garmin, iGo, tomtom.......
they all seem to gat a fix relatively quicker and lose it. and stuck in a cycle of getting a fix and losing it.
BUT, applications like, gps speedo, gps dasgboard are working without any issues like that...
any ideas?
BTW, i tested many different ROMs available here with similar GPS issue.
I tested IGO yesterday and it gets a fix perfectly. On the other hand, yesterday tomtom suddenly started working:S.. I hate problems which are inconsistent XD!
I am going to test IGO a week. I expect it will always get a fix, since google maps also gets a fix whenever I try.
What I haven't done is upgrading my radio version. So that is my last alternative.
Keep you posted.
@ Argentocruz: I had already disabled AGPS
Mee too. Disabled Agps and tried. Result: same.
my radio ver: 1.08.25.20
should I try a dif. radio? if so to which one? anyone can suggest Pl. thanx.

Try a different radio yes. With the stock radio 1.something my fix was slow and I had quite some lag in TomTom. With 1.14.25.35 this issue was gone. It takes me about 1 minute to get a fix (and sometimes it doesn't fix, so I have to reboot the phone)
ok. will try this Raphael Radio 1.14.25.35.
Sorry for asking here... I downloaded this radio pack and it contains Raph_1.14.25.35_rilphone.CAB file also.
do I need to install this cab after flashing the radio?
10q.
BTW, anyone from Australia tested this?
Flashed the radio. problems seem to be gone..... tomtom, igo works perfectly so far.
will test more. thanx all for the support.
