X1 outlook msn and some more questions - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
As Im still new user of x1 ( have it only couple of days), I have some problems that I need help with.
First of all , at my PC i use mozilla thunderbird for email client, but I believe it doesn`t exist for winmo 6 platform yet, so Im doomed to Outlook which actually I really dont like (at least PC version). If u have some suggestion for an email client , pls say so.
Nevertheless I tried configuring outlook and the point is , and I have also that problem with the Windows LIve Messenger, that when is connected through ActiveSync it can connect to mail and msn , and when Im on GPRS or EDGE , mail and msn doesn`t work. Just say the connection cannot be established.
But Opera and may other things work online, like google maps, gps and such.
Is there some special settings for it to work.
The other question is for PocketVNC users. I installed the server side on my pc and client side on my X1, and when I try to connect it says colors mode is not ok I should change to 8 bit in options.
But on client side there is no options or I cant see it....
Or would u recommend me some other software for remote desktop ?

Still have the big problems with the mail and msn settings.... can anyone help me ?
Whenever using internet over activesync it works, but when on GPRS/EDGE it doesn`t.....:S
For msn it says : There is a connectivity problem. Make sure you`re in a area with a good reception and try again.
It connects to my network, EDGE starting and then this message. Of course I have the best reception possible, signal at the max.
for mail it says: cannot connect with current connection settings.
Which is ridiculous cause its set up right for surfing, gps, irc client and remote desktop.
Just mail and msn doesn`t work.
Can u recommend me some other mail client if that could be the problem ....:S

thunderbird sync

about your network only working when connected to activesync
then I'd say that your gprs settings are not set
you have to set ap and in some cases user name and password to access internet over your phone

Kaiser and Outlook Web Access

hi guys,
I would like to use my kaiser with outlook web access which my company has. Does anyone know of a good interface software which can provide me with this feature?
If you have OWA that means you have Exchange server, so why not just set up Exchange ActiveSync?
try http(s)://exchangeserver/oma/ in IE
As a poster above said, it's much nicer just to use ActiveSync and get it to sync automatically with Exchange - if you have OWA configured on your network, 9 times out of 10 it will work right off the bat - just open up Activesync on your device and select Menu -> Configure Server... and follow the prompts. It's pretty good and is much quicker than running OWA in your Pocket Internet Explorer...
Edit: I forgot to mention that your Exchange administrator will have to configure this on their Exchange server - if they have Exchange SP2, it's quite easy and requires no more config on the firewall than has already been done for OWA. Don't know what kind of organistation you work in, but it's worth a question to your IT department.

Hi,
Something I have already done but they all sends us to the exchange server ...
The issue is that niothing changed on the exchange server and I was able to sync wth my S710 .... why no with the TYTN2?
Hi there,
I get the same problem on my Tilt only not all the time. Usually my phone works fine, but then about once a day I go into active sync and notice that I have this error and I have to soft reset my phone and sync again. Then it goes away for about another 24hrs. before I have it again and have to soft reset.
I posted a topic about this and have tried googling it also to no avail.
If anyone has figured it out I'd appreciate it.
It sounds like you don't have permission to sync with that phone.
Try going to the your oma (outlook mobile access) site with a computer, then your phones browser. I'm not exactly sure the url of your outlook mobile access, but it should be something similar to this:
Webmail URL = https://companyurl.com/exchange
OMA URL = https://companyurl.com/oma
If you can access the basic oma mail, you should be able to access exchange to sync so check your settings. If you get an access denied error, contact your nearest IT person.
Dave
I fixed it by opening up Outlook 2003 on my PC, going to Help and then running "Detect and Repair". Has worked flawlessly sense then. *knocks on wood*
more info
what did you do to fix the issue in outlook 2003. Is that on you pc at work or at home? My issue is the same, except that my pc at work is connected to the network it does not access the exchange server over the web. I have been beating my head against a wall since I got the phone, and I can't get it to sync over the air. And was your phone hooked to the pc when you did this?. Thanks

how can i access hotmail

Hi
can anyone please help me in the setup of hotmail email on the touch diamond i am having great difficulty with this as not familar with these handsets i have tried to access it via internet explorer and through setting up a new email account under the messaging section but neither is working
any instructions you can give me would be great
many thanks
Do you have internet access via either activesync, WiFi, GPRS, EDGE, or 3G? If not, then you have found your problem. If so, then a little more information about the problem would help everyone to help you!
Click the live icon on your start menu and set that up
thanks for your responses yes i have the internet set up i have the wi fi and
3g ( which also changes to the h and g icons at times not sure what those connections are called)
I have managed to set up the windows live messenger and have tested that out which is working fine but not the accessing the emails part
many thanks for the help
Hotmail is really hard to set up now in Outlook 2007 because they made a paid subscription to have this option enabled. I think. I know i tried a few months ago and failed.

Opera 9.5 Outlook Web Access CookieAuth.dll

Hi
I have trouble opening my Outlook Web Access mail in Opera 9.5 on my HTC Diamond.
Opera only asks if i want to open or save a file called CookieAuth.dll
Its no problem opening Outlook Web Access in Opera 8.65 or Internet Explorer, but it does not work in Opera 9.5.
Anyone else who has the same problem??
it's not exactly a solution to your problem but i found a very nice software that allows you to download your OWA emails as if you had the settings from the server (very helpful in the case of companies not allowing off campus email access other than OWA). It's called emoze and works very nicely... try it...
OWA

Hi
I experience the same problem. Even with previous Opera 8.5 (?), for symbian S60 Nokia Communicator i was not able to get access to my webmail.
With Nokia I had to use Opera Mini 1.20, and with Qtek or HTC i find Netfront the best (as it is the only one that memorizes my login data)
I can also get the mail with IExplorer, but it is annoying to have to write my login data every time
Seems like it is a problem with Opera then. But i like Opera, so does anybody know a way to come around this problem and still use opera?

Am I missing something here... But can you not just configure Pocket Outlook to check your emails? If you have access to OWA then this is in essence what Pocket Outlook uses to fetch emails.
I would love to do that, but because i sync my other email account with outlook on my PC, I can't use pocket outlook to check my OWA account.
Or is it some way too do that???

Well as long as the 'other email account' is IMAP/POP enabled then you can just create a 'New Account' in Pocket Outlook. It will have its own folder structure e.g. Inbox, Sent, Deleted etc. Who is the provider of your other email account?
I've got my work email via MS Exchange and also have 2 other email accounts on there too- just like many other people on here I'm sure.
What you can't do (as far as I know) in Pocket Outlook is actually 'sync' more than one email account.
But you can't configure a outlook web acces account on pocket outlook, you have to use active sync to set it up on the diamond, or am i wrong?
And when i does that it says that i can't sync OWA mail because i already sync my other email account with Outlook on my PC.
Must be someway that you can sync two email accounts!
Yes, you can configure OWA with active sync and then you set up any other emails via IMAP/POP. If you dont have a data plan, then both of email accounts will update when you connect the device to your PC (using it's internet connection). This is exactly how I do it- Like I said, my work email (OWA/Exchange) is setup 'via active sync' and then I have configured my two other IMAP and POP3 email accounts.
What you need to do, is not 'sync' your Outlook on you PC but rather create a 'New Account' in Pocket Outlook, the end result is still exactly the same but this way you can have you OWA and Outlook email both on you device.
If you have a look at my screen capture, you will see I have the 'Outlook E-mail' which is my OWA/Exchange email. Then I have my Hotmail account and I also have one called 'Sunil Hirji', which is my personal IMAP(or POP3) account.
Just wonder if your problem has been resolved. I have got a HTC Touch HD the other day and I have encountered the same problem.
Yes me too. I have tried to sync using ActiveSync etc., but it doesn't appear to work.
Could anyone provide some screenshots showing how it should be set up. I have a feeling there is a setting server side that is preventing me from syncing using ActiveSync (have e-mailed the IT guys today).
Even if I could access using Opera it would be good, but I get the Cookie authorisation problem. Outlook Web Access works fine on a desktop so am at a loss .
Get it working?
A possible "workaround" for this is setting up "File Types" for opera. To do this, open the opera.ini file (depending on the version of opera you are using, may be in different locations on your device), mine was located in windows\opera9. Edit the file using a text editor that supports UTF 8 encoding.
There is a section in there titled [File Types] with some entries under it. After the last current entry, add the following lines:
application/x-msdownload=2,,,,,|
application/x-msdos-program=2,,,,,|
Save the file with these entries back to your mobile device. Soft reset your device.
These tell Opera to open the x-msdownload and x-msdos-program mime types directly in the browser, rather than trying to download them as files.
I classify this as a "workaround" rather than a solution, because there may be some security implications related to making this change (ie there must be a reason why opera is configured to not automatically open .dll files in the browser as the default setting), so proceed with caution and accept all risk!
Anyway, hope this helps...
You beauty!!!

ActiveSync Whilst Roaming

Just wondering if it is possible to sync my outlook emails, calendar items etc.. with my home pc whilst roaming?
Basically i think im looking for an alternative to an exchange server that can be setup on a vista pc, which i can then create an activesync server connection to on the D2
Is there any software like this available?
