I don't want to root my G1 for a moment. And I don't want ahome, openhome, dxtop, pandahome.
I just want to have more then 3 screens on non-rooted phone. Is it possible?
Not sure if you need root to install the Advanced Launcher.

Give it a shot. Make sure you enable the phone to install third-party applications.

Pull Cyanogen's launcher from his ROM over in the development section, and try installing that with any of the app-installer apps. It's basically a 5-screen, no-frills launcher. That should work.

That one should work too, at least the standalone version should. Of course, it has a bit more features than the default or Cyanogen versions, so if you really want to keep it simple, you may want to stick with either of those.
Yes! Advanced Launcher is what i wanted. Thank you all for help.
It works very well with official Donut.

i think it comes w the cm roms but how do i edit it?so i can go back to 4 icons in each row? and does anyone know how to change the number of screens on cm?
did you read the advanced launcher thread? and i'm not sure you can switch back to 4 icons per row, but why would you?
yeah i did and it just says how to instal and mainly i wana remove alot of icons like skins a nd what not
what do you need to know? i mean, you install the launcher and when it's on there, you can choose how many homescreens you want.

Why do you want 4x5? The 3 latest cyanogens have removed this launcher. If you want the features, you must install the advanced launcher manually. If you decide to install it, from the homescreen press menu>more>extended>homescreen and make your home numbers selection. I doubt it's going back to 4 icons anytime soon. If I find out how to adjust that setting I'll shoot you a pm.
oh ok thanks guys
umm i tried to donwload it but it said it was already installed? so i look in settings and cudnt find it? so i tried to uninstall but that did work either?
it's not in settings. when you're on the your homescreens, press menu, then click more, then extended.

u cant install it with the package installer...you have to install it using adb.. the instructions are in the advanced launcher tab
Hi, I do not like the performance of the alternative launcher that is packaged in CM6. I read in a few posts throughout the forums that all involve various ways to get the stock launcher back but none of them give instructions for newbies to follow.
So I would like to ask the community for a definitive way to restore the stock launcher on CM6. Thank you for your help!
You could try installing Launcher pro and then it will ask you which launcher to use next time you hit home. Then you could choose the stock launcher (or launcher pro, which is a lot lighter)

CM6 does not have the stock launcher. So this wouldn't work.
But Launcher Pro is by fast the best I have seen.
learn how to mess with the settings and you wont go with any launcher other than adw
Get the stock ROM, or any ROM containing stock launcher.
Extract /system/app/Launcher2.apk to some directory.
Run from there:
adb push Launcher2.apk /system/app/Launcher2.apk
That's it. Download LauncherPro, then it'll ask you to choose the launcher. Test all and decide.
Watch your battery level using for a while after installing LauncherPro. For some it really suck up juice, including my phone.
Take it out of a ROM that has it, I did it on my G1

You just linked to an ADWLauncher...
I have installed the wildpuzzle froyo 2.2 rom onto my HTC wildfire but I still cant use live wallpaper. But when i go to menu -- wallpaper -- Home -- Live Wallpaper, it shows the option Live wallpapers, but when i click on a live paper, it does not change it, why?
You must delete HTC Sense and use other Luncher (ADW.Launcher / LauncherPRO etc.). Delete are simple, use htc_app_remove.zip update file
Where do i get the launcher and how to use it?
and where to download the remove thing and how to use it?
Both can be found in the android market. For the launcher, there are Launcherpro and ADW among others. You install them and then at your home screen press your home screen button and you should be able to select the launcher you have installed. To delete apps and other things, search for Astro File Manager. It's the best free file manager. After the installation of Astro (or your chosen file manager), find a folder called "system." Then another folder called "apps." Finally, you can delete whatever files that you wish.

You have to install the Live Wallpaper launcher. There are apks floating around for it all over XDA. Just search for it. Then you can go to town.

Live Wallpapers are not officially supported. Hence, there is no such option on the official update. ROM Dev's additionally add support for LWP's.
Well, since you are now on the "unrootable" 2.2.1 update, you are out of luck for now unfortunately.

Depends on what rom you are using like CM5, CM6.1, CM7, etc..
So find what version you have and do a nandroid backup..move the .zip to your sd card and flash it through clockwork
Go get MIUI rom, the most easy to have custom theme.
tried that

do you meen the ADW Launcher that is on the market ?
Just search the market for ADW Launcher EX, it costs €2,50 though...
I've tried out AWD Launcher EX 1.21 but I think I'm gonna stick with Go-Launcher, it isn't as ajustable as AWD, but the app-drawer is just great! The Go-Launcher app-drawer has 3 tabs, one for all the installed apps, one for all the recently opened apps (like history on a browser) and one for the curently running apps. So its got an easy accesible build-in task-manager. Very useful!
What do you mean nandroid? As in the backup feature on clockwork?

I want to install the themes on the specified link in 2nd post

Search for "ADW" or "ADW theme" in the Marketplace.
Hi there :}
- Is there a way to keep the Sense 5 app drawer with the clock and weather top in Nova launcher?
- I would like to change the multitasking window to the stock one. Like it is in the GE editions where you swipe to the right to kill an app. Can I do that somehow?
Thanks for the replies!

1) Not possible.
2) Yes it's possible, just edit (with Notepad++) the default.xml file in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml. Inside the default.xml file search for:

true

Click to collapse
And:

true

It's about 412 and 430 lines and it's the "values" for the HTC recent apps style.
Change "true" to "false", save, replace the file and set the correct permissions, like the original file, reboot and you're good.
You can also do that directly from your phone with a file explorer (like Root Explorer), edit the same file, save then reboot and you're good. You'll have the stock Android recent apps style.
Make a Nandroid backup before, just in case.
Thank you very much I will do this today. Also I would like to use the AOSP lockscreen and the Analogue clock from the GE edition. I dont want to use hololocker. What is the best way to do these?

Re,
Sorry but for these... I don't know but I doubt it's possible (or at least with an app like Widgetlocker or something similar in the Playstore for the lockscreen).
Second solution is to use a custom rom that allows this -> dev section-> search in the OP for the different rom's... I'm sure I've seen some custom rom's with this option (Viper for example). It depends if you want keep a "stock-custom" rom with the closest look (with a tweak here and there, but it's "soft" or a rom with multiples tweaks...
Take a closely look on the rom in the dev section
Yeah, I installed Viper ROM today. I like it so far.
