Battery friendly ROM 6.1 without manila (prefered) or 6.5 - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Hi, Please recommend me battery friendly ROMs. I prefer 6.1 without manila. I am using SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 which interface I think is great. So I have no need to go for manila or 6.5. However with manila or 6.5 ROMs are also ok if they are more power consumption economical.
Presently, I am using UK stock ROM v 1.05.931.10 with radio v 1.14.25.55 (the ROM was downloaded from this website ). I use wifi a lot so normally my battery can last only more than 1 day a bit.
I have read a number of threads in this forum. Many posts recommended Touch X 10.1 or 10.8 (which is with manila) or 6.5 UnOff ROMs. Regarding battery life, how are they in comparision to stock ROM?
Thanks.

+1.xperia i also want a stable and clean rom =)

Hi,
Concerning battery drain it depends on installed software (eq: G-alarm, etc) and also radio rom version. It's different for everyone.
Previously I was using radio rom version 1.14.25.25 battery drain occurs. then I change it to 1.10.25.18 and my battery last more than 2 days in normal usage.
BTW, I am using NRG photon rom now.
Cheers

I've been playing around with different ROM's and I'm currently using Touch X 10.8 Legendary (i think). It's wonderful. Manila is very fast and isn't laggy or buggy. I had it off the charger since about 12:00, did a bit of texting, made a few calls, ran G-Alarm and did a soft-reset or two and it was at 71% last time I checked. In any case, I keep my phone screen brightness at 50% and I set the phone to turn off after 30 seconds of no use.
There's probably a way to disable M2D, but it's so attractive I couldn't ever do that

hey mate use unoff v11.. just awesome its original xperia rom with win mobile 6.5 ova the top very clean no manila and batt life is just fantansitc i left ma fone on for 2 days straight reaching 30% before charging

Try WildChilds Pure ROM series.
You will find them :http://wcxxperia-nce.com/
I'm using version 22001 (WM6.5)for a month and I'm very impressed with battery life, overall performance and memory usage. It's a clean, pure rom so feel free to install for example SPB MS3 or something.

if i dont remember wrong i had my touch X 6.1 without manila running for a week, cant remember though if it was 6.1 or 6.1b or 6.1c, but i think it was the 6.1 , read the comment's and youll see, i edited the whole battery dll and components on this rom, so it was coocked with stability and battery as main prio... and im not fooling you, i had the device on for a whole week, when disabling the manila!
6.1 http://rapidshare.com/files/226710399/Touch_X_6_1.zip

6.1c http://rapidshare.com/files/232691630/Touch_X_612C_TOPAZ.zip

i want it too, i'll try wildchild rom now

Thanks buddies.
@ smaberg: Thanks for the links. Will definitely try your touch X 6.1 versions.
Is there posibility to disable manila option in touch X 10 versions and other manila ROMs?

SPB MS35 drains battery on UnOff V11 ROM plus like hell and on has some drawing problems with soft buttons names.
So I removed MS35 and now looking for the more power efficient alternative. Original Today screen with minimal changes is the best option so far while Titanium is not user friendly.
I am thinking of testing Manila 2.1 now...

yes, in settings "today", you can choose 6.1 original

I have used a lot of different ROMs and for me the spikegotti UnOff is the best.
I have the same soft environment (MBS, BT Watch, Exchange sync, all day data connection) for more than half year and before spikegotti I had approx 30% battery at end of the day, with spikegotti I have approx 50% or more.

Fastest WM 6.5 out there?

I already tried Dutty 3.3 (wm 6.1) and Miri 10.0. Miri is a really nice rom but i want something new. I already read all the rom threads.
My two questions are:
1). What is the fastest WM 6.1 rom out there?
2). What is the fastest WM 6.5 rom out there?
Thanks in advance,

When you say you want something new... What do you mean by new? What features do you want it to have? Speed? Battery? Features such as Facebook?
For each feature theres usually a downside, like for more speed, less battery.. more programs installed, less battery etc.
I've been using 3 roms specifically which are brilliant... NRGZ latest rom, which is lightning fast 6.1 rom but is on the old SPL 1.14. He is trying to update it but his HD is buggered so we're waiting for that to come live.
Onkologs 6.1 and 6.5 come with two options, lite or superlite. Superlite is obviously the bare minimums with no Manila, so you can install SPB Shell and have the touch interface working well.
Lite has Manila and all the features you'd expect like in a normal stock rom.
Battery is excellent in these roms, I normally get 3 days with moderate use, calls, internet, messaging. Speed is really fast too and if you want to add more on, you just install as you go.
All roms are very reliable though really.
for me features r more important than battery life. I love duttys 3.3 but it eats so much memory that I had to switch to miri's 10 recently. only issue for me is now the alarm.

What features is it that you like particularly?
Onkologs 6.5 Superlite. Very fast, you know its fast when the windows folder opens in around 1second!
Has a very cool all black menu system, which is a smaller size than normal, which is great for fitting all the menu options in one window. And still finger friendly.
The start menu is in four columns, and unlike some other roms is not restricted/locked....So thru activesync you can create new folders and organise the start screen.
With such a bare and fast rom you can install what you want.
Lite has manilla
Superlite has Titanium...which I like way more than the bloated manila

No USPL 2.5?
Ok, i'm convinced. I want to flash Onkologs 6.5 Superlite version to my phone. I usually flashed with USPL 2.5. Onkolog states it's possible to flash with USP 2.5. But, the only file i get from the superlite version is blacimg.nbh. What to do?

Second that, just want this new Manila adding to his rom so I can use some features I've wanted to use for a long time.
I would also recommend onkologs wm 6.5 lite that is if you don't like manila however if you want to have your cake and eat it then it has to be miri's v10 fully loaded yet it's fast and stable been running it for nearly a week no probs! yes there is that alarm bug but that's not rom related it's wm 6.5 issue, workaround use galarm

Are all LEO ROM's practically unusable ?

Hey Everyone,
I really need you to answer this question.
Are all Leo Roms laggy?? especially when you enter the Sub-Menues or is my xperia just screwed up and not delivering the right performance. For some reason, All leo roms I have tried are not usable because they are
A. : to Unstable
B. : have extreme a good 2 second lag when switching from Tab to Tab in TF3D
C. : Get even slower after a few programs are launched and closed again
D. : Sometimes the call button reacts 10 seconds after I pressed it and the whole device goes into rage mode; executing all commands I tried to press in desperation at once.
Is that all normal? are all Leo Roms practically unuseable?
Please let me know
Thank you so much
The HTC Leo device has not even been released. The Leo Manilla is a work in progress... It's Beta quality. The Leo device uses a 1GHz CPU much faster than the 528MHz CPU in the X1. We should be thankful that the cooks make it usable even at all.
I'm sure as Leo Manilla matures, it will become faster and more responsive. Until then, you should not really use it if you cannot put up with the lags.
Many of the Leo Manilla features have been implimented in the latest 2.1 Manilla. Soooo, just use one of the cooked Roms with the latest 2.1.1919 Manilla.
If the Leo Manilla is too unusable for you, then jsut don't use it.
If you want to see how far Leo ROM development has come I recommend Agent_47's Valkyrie 3.8.53 Leo ROM. Fast, stable, decent battery usage. Some things have a little lag, but definitely usable and not enough to be irritating.
It is the first Leo ROM I have tried that I would consider using every day.
I would not call them unusable.
IT really depends what you do with your phone, how many applications you run simultaneously.
For me it is very frequent to connect via bluetooth to my car system, listen to muisc while using GPS sat nav, while keeping PUSH email active in background, RSS reader and weather update.
Leo ROMS tend to get extremely laggy in this kind scenario and if I Receive a call everything goes to hell.
However, if you are not a power user, Leo can be fine.

never say never
try by Agent Valkyrie_v3.9.60!
and be surprised
forget about the other LEO ROMs like Touch-IT / Rota / ...etc ..
when it comes to LEO, Valkyrie is your friend
it is very stable / usable / even fast !!
A ROM without Landscape is useless when using the Hardware-keyboard... That makes LEO useless!
I usually HATE the newer ones, as PCTech4U and Smaberg/mr rusch's TouchX roms are better BUT i must say Christian's Rom and X1Owner's X10 rom's are good.
I am currently using X10's rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=564298
It's VERY fast, got all the eye candy you could want! Try that. I was just doing my weekly backup and flash a new rom to try, but i've stuck with X1Ov1.2 LEO WM6.5.1 23060 MANILA2.5.1919.2828 R3A ENG (WWE) [ONLINE] as i've been impressed.
IF only that came without Manilla 2.5 as I dont mind the default windows 6.5 style.
add a poll the results may surprise you
i tested a few 6.5 leo roms and i really hate most of them. as you said, they are not nearly as responsive or stable as 6.1
i dont think that we will ever get fast, stable and smooth leo based rom even after the final release of leo. its just made for a device that has much much better specs than our x1 (hd2 has 448MB memory with 1GHZ ).
I agree, X10 seems to be the best for now.

What's stable for someone else may not be stable for you, have some fun trying them out and decide for yourself.
WinMo 6.5 may be one of the criteria, while some other factors will also play
a role - which is why I second the opinion posted before.
If you like the "official" build with Manila, why don´t you check itje´s Touch-IT
Multilanguage v2? I flashed it today, it´s fast and stable.
If you prefer the "newer" builds, there are so many to choose from...
On the other hand, if you prefer "clean" ROM´s without Manila, I cannot give
any comment on these...
My 2 cents:
Every chef has had some releases that are stable and some that have been "very experimental".
My suggestion is: try ROM's from different chefs and find out whos cooking suits your taste the most - every one of them does some small things differently. Like the Java implementation or access to different kinds of settings.
Then find out what is the latest stable release from that chef.
I like ROM's of Agent_47 - named Valkyrie Firestorm.
He cooks three kinds of ROMS:
- Xperio - it has only the basic stuff from WM6.5 and the rest of stuff from original Xperia (dialer and so on)
- Topaz/Rhodium (TR for short) - those ROMs are based on HTC devices Topaz and Rhodium, very similar to Xperia X1 in hardware. TR has Manila 2.1 as a user interface. I use these ROMs cause I think that Manila 2.1 is just right for X1 and Manila 2.5 (used in LEO ROMs) is too much.
- LEO - those ROMs are based on the new HTC HD2 (codename Leo). LEO has Manila 2.5 - more eyecandy but also more stress on hardware (HTC LEO has 1GHz Snapdragon CPU - a lot more power, than Xperia X1)
Can say that Pure WM6.5 from WildChild is very stable. One softreset per week just to refresh it and I use my X1 all the day (wifi, mms, sms, talk, game)
i tried valkyrie 4.2 rodhium topaz version. Im not very happy with it. Drains the battery and makes the phone slow. I had to charge daily :S
im using Touch X 10.8.2 now seems much faster and battery just 10% less in one day.
I think one of the best indicators of how fast or smooth a rom is is when it first boots up and asks you to align the touchscreen. Jack's 4.x for example is very fast, almost as smooth as stock rom while Valkyrie... is horribly slow.
you can try my x1o-series. latest builds available in english too. the 23XXX are experimental leaks. try 218XX-roms.

I don't know something else.

I've used that but went back to Miri's v35 ROM... Much better, no bugs and very efficient use of the shortcuts in Microsoft's shell - not apparent in the Energy ROM.
Have yet to be more satisfied with a very functional phone and not missing the tedious Manilla as of yet; although the program shortcuts on the 'Home' screen would be welcomed. Texting is perfect, minus the better looking Manilla version. Aesthetics over usability...
Shame Miri didn't continue this in the v36 build...

And to add this for Miri's v35, as I mentioned before, fresh reboot RAM usage is at 38% with a wallpaper and battery consumption is the best I have used, charging every 2 days. Just over every day if I indulge in WiFi browsing.
I'm definately up for more roms without manila/sense. I think the work that all the cooks do is fantastic but just find manila uses too much system resources, causing problems for certain apps. I know I may be a little strange but I actually really like the windows titanium plugin.
There does only seems to be the energy rom that is 6.5.x, Currently using a Miri v36 rom that is good.

6.5 or 6.1

I started this thread because I see much 6.5 ROMS right now. Some of you (atleast me) wanting a 6.1 ROM. You can also have a ROM with LEO or TF3D.
Discuss here and maybe the ROM developers can make it easier.
Greetz,
Win mo 6.5 with Rhodium manila 2.1
i really like WM 6.5.3 one with TF3D (the new one from Rhodium)...
xperia with windows mobile 6.5, without touchflo. fast&stable !
6.1 is pretty fast, but Titanium has everything I need, so 6.5 it is.

I have tried several WM6.5 ROMs like Christians Clean, X1.5, Infinite, Pure, Energy, 826X...
They are all quite fast, but compared to the stock ROM the UI is VERY SLOW!!!
My HTC Wizard with a 200 MHz CPU and [ROM][WM6.5.x][6.5.1.7 - 23085][6.5.0.2 - 21869][Clean] - MSD Series >> 4-Nov-2009 has a much faster responding UI.
WHY??? The X1 has a 528 MHZ CPU!
Is it caused by the high resolution display of the X1 with a 4 X higher resolution?
Or does all WM6.5 ROMs use other (slower) system drivers instead of the 6.1 stock rom ones?

According to your Signature you are also running Nuts so you should know?
Well, im not using tochflo at all, disabled everything as "Today" and running SPB on top of that.
I discovered that stability and speed is most important for me. So, WM 6.1. I also install Mobile Shell for fingerfriendly UI and FingerSuite.v1.12rc8 for fingerfriendly menu's. TF3D is only an eyecandy for me. Mobile Shell is better for me, because it is faster and customizable. I install some fingerfriendly software and Xperia is ready to use.
I go for coolness and usefullness rather than speed. I do not want to go back to WM6.1 ever again... I recently had a customer with a 6.1 ROM and OMG, it's so old and hard to use/configure compared to 6.5.5
I kept trying WM 6.5 over and over but.. It's just too slow!
Switched back to PCTech4u, best WM 6.1 rom out there.
You're wrong, THIS is the best WinMo 6.1 ROM.
