big error in Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 ! - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hello girls and boys,
Mobile Security 8.0 does not work with the navigations and IGO8 navigon 7!
For programs installed Mobile Security 8 is just the start screen of IGO or Navigon to see, but will not start.
Kaspersky knows the error, but will upgrade to version 8 nothing.
In version 9, this error should be corrected.
Money spent for nothing again! Congratulations Kaspersky!
... and away
Excuse for my crappy English. The school was an eternity ago!

Garmin Mobile XT

I'm having an odd problem when running this software ..
After a power up the software runs perfectly connects to the internal GPS and everything is good. If I then close the app and restart it it NEVER finds the GPS device and it just sits there scanning for the GPS device, even if I turn the GPS of and on again it doesn't fix it..
Power Cycling the phone then fixes this problem and I'm back at square one
anyone else add this/sorted this
Jez
can you tell me the installer you used ... (Name of the installer)...
try going to Setting--> Remote GPS--->and DISABLE GPS
Then Enable again ... it will ask you the GPS Port ... Select Com4...

on my TyTN II I have Settings/System/External GPS
there is no option in this app to disable/enable the GPS device ..

NewHTC 6.1 ROM : another reason to stop buying HTC !!!

Hello, I just would like to give a feedback of my usage of the last HTC 6.1 ROM.
The good thing :
- HTC Dialer is a lot faster than the 6.0 dialer (Thanks god !!!). But I guess I could use it with the old HTC 6.0 ROM.
The bad things :
- For IGO 8 to work I need to disable the "HTC Home", the "A-GPS" feature, and soft reset my device !!!! That means I won't use IGO 8 anymore, and that was my favorite GPS application.
- SPB Backup does not work anymore
- NO CAMERA IMPROVEMENT : still the same ****, slow and blurry.
- Performance issues with my SDHC card : all read/writes done from the Kaiser to the SDHC card are very very very slow.
- my device freezes all the time !!! I have to wait for 10-20 seconds before I can use it again. EDIT : since I stoped using "Quick Menu" this, problem disapeared ... So another usefull application I can't use anymore !
- performances are lower !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just talk about using the device, the way it displays the menus, the way applications come to the screen, it's really slower than the original HTC 6.0 ROM I had !!!!
So one more time, HTC shows how they deal with their customers :
"don't worry, we will make an update with performances improvements" ...
instead the performances have decreased, absolutly nothing have been improved, and I meet a lot of compatibility problems !!!!!!!
So think twice before installing this f***ing ROM !!!!
How can HTC put on the market such an unfinished/untested product ???!!!!
I just realized they just did the same with the Kaiser ...
Hi,downgrade to wm6 because my pda became crazy !
Same thing : my official microsd card with Nav and Go doesn't work, and the rest too.We must say a big thanks to HTC !!!
Please then, do not use the HTC Rom. We have a lot of Very Good Chefs that will make your problems go away. (If you ask them nicely0

Hi,
Did you pull off the microsd before upgrading ?(perhaps the upgrade process
corrupted the card)
Perhaps you could try (trial period) pocket mechanics pro(from wizzcode)
to reformat your sd+scandisk , it is a very reliable soft.
I had a worry to upgrade the official rom with vista, so i had to make the upgrade with a winxp desktop.
For time being, i found an improvement in the sound volume(phone usage)
and my bluetooth earpiece(nearly inaudible before).
Some softs are faster when launching(P.M.Pro for example) and sprite backup
(i upgraded from the light edition to the full one 6.22) works well under wm6.1.
But for the rotation screen when sliding the keyboard, i didnt notice any
progress.(i dont watch movies/videos on my kaiser, so unable to tell if it is better)
The only bad and good thing when upgrading:
i wasnt able to restore all my softs with my backup(some registry bugs)
so i had to reinstall all (tomtom6, sprite,netfront,pocket informant,etc)
boring but it has the advantage to start from fresh install.
One problem, windows mobile center(under vista) has some difficulties to
synchronize my kaiser.(i had to do some "menage" in my outlook 2002 appointments).
regards from France

I think that we must all realize that in this day and age of " give me more now" software development we have seen the last, long ago, of the finished, polished , stable software release. Look at Vista and Leopard and the such. Both operating systems were beseiged by bugs and incompatabilities. Vista is getting better but still crap.
We are going to have to get used to getting Beta versions of everything. Yes, HTC makes the bulk of their money off of hardware. As unacceptable as it might seem they are not going to spend millions in R and D and beta testing on upgrades they give away for free. Perhaps if we were willing to pay $100 or $200 or so for a software upgrade, like Vista or Leopard we would get a better finished product, or not. Everyone still got a beta of Vista.
My point is , this is it . We wanted it now. We wanted it free. We got the Beta. We tested it , it sucks ,give them the feed back and push for patches. Unacceptable ? Yes but, like the current gas prices, it is the reality of the situation.
Yes,i remove each time sim card and memory card before flashing.I think i'm not alone to have problems with french update ( cf french forum ) .I've downgraded with wm6 and everything works fine again .
reading through the frustrating experiences makes me feel better. so i am no alone. how absolutely unprofessional of htc. i hope palm comes out with its new OS quickly. my windows mobile adventure is eating up my time.
how can i downgrade again?
i need the original 6.0 Ger rom
Hi,
Sorry for the slight variation on topic, but I just logged into my HTC E-club and could not find the WM6.1 Update, am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks.
Same issues for me as you folks. I dumped it like the smelly crap it is and reloaded with dutty's hybrid. This one I'm diggin'.Very stable, awesome actually.

it seems most of your issues are compatibility with applications. shouldn't you be complaining to the developers about these? I'm sure they will fix those up to make them run smoothly with 6.1, I don't think it's fair to blame HTC for application incompatibility with a *new* OS.
maybe do an HR and see if you still have issues [except the driver issue because we all know they didn't fix that]
sometimes it's good to wait for apps/devs to catch up before updating to ensure that your apps a working well with your new OS.
just my 2 cents. peace
Guys, a little help please...
I need to downgrade to WM6.0.
Where can I get the official Portuguese ROM for KAISER???
Thanks in advance
here's a fix for the freezes:

I disagree with what you say. Most of the Windows Mobile 5.0 applications were working on the WM 6.0. I never loosed so many applications (and I didn't try all of them yet) with an update which is not supposed to be a major update (6.0 to 6.1).
My biggest issue is the IGO 8 application which does not work because of an HTC application : HTC Home.
So now, if I want to run IGO 8, I must disable some tabs of HTC Home (contacts, weather, music ...) which were essential to me.
When I bought my Kaiser, I also bought HTC home which I cannot use now.
I also noticed that since I installed 6.1, HTC home does slow down my device and is responsible for some freezes of it. If I remove HTC home from the today screen, no freezes !
So this is definitly an HTC problem !
Firstly, this is not an HTC problem. It is a Windows Mobile (Microsoft) problem.
Every device is different.
What works well on mine, might not work on yours for obvious reasons.
Folks are quick to criticise HTC because they don't know any better or don't understand the problem.
Why "upgrade" to wm 6.1? wm 6.0 works perfectly well.
And btw, Vista is NOT crap. I have been using Vista Business for over a year now without problems. You really just need to figure things out.
Don't fix it if it aint broke.
Guys thanks a lot!! I intended to upgrade to the official ROM, but now I stay with Dutty's.
It saves me a lot of time.

1) "HTC Home" IS an HTC product... And it is the source of a lot of problems in the 6.1 ROM (just read what I wrote).
2) Why upgrading to 6.1 : because HTC said the performances will be increased. And the performances where an issue in 6.0 (and still are in 6.1).
I waited for an upgrade, seems like I got an downgrade. Device with this big price tag should perform well out of the box.
This is what i think.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395110
allright... I've done downgrading to latest wwe 6.0.
6.1 is a real crap- do not let some ppl fool You- there is no speed gain at all.
what more, it's slower than ever.
simple tests: I have opened a web page in opera mini on both 6.0 (stock t-mob and latest wwe) and 6.1 (stock wwe, plk and leo's diamond v2) and guess what- on 6.0 scrolling is smooth on 6.1 visible screen tearing occurs.
second test was 3 minutes of doom2 e1m1- again, visible and annoying screen tearing on 6.1. no fps gained at all.
the other thing is that 6.1 doesn't support card export II and have many other more or less irritating bugs.
I am seriously considering swapping my Vario III for N95 8GB, but still hesitating. with tweaked 6.0 it is a quite nice machine, qwerty keyboard is a big + aswell... I dunno. I shall see...
anyway- br and good luck to all with their devices.
bro
Just chiming in with my $0.02 worth, that the 6.1 upgrade works fine for me. I'm only running very minimal 3rd party apps (aside from TomTom), so compatibility hasn't been a problem for me.
The RF quality of the phone seems much-improved, I don't notice (without benchmarking tools) a big perceptible speed difference from a user's point of view.

Windows Update...... Anyone?

Im curious to know if anyone has ever activated the Windows Update on their WM5/6/6.1 phone and something actually downloaded?
Tried a couple times and got nothing
Not sure what it is for? It didn't work with WM5 either.
Same here, tried a few times but no updates came through, strange
Never got anything. 6+ trys over a year or so
there was a similar thread some weeks ago.
i think WM has a windows update function for distributin critical updates if someone writes a wm virus / worm / whatever that uses a bug in Windows Mobile.
Yea ive ben trying since feb this year and have never been able to get any sort of update, try like few times each month.....
so dont really know whats the point of it.
yha i found it funny to i i'm trying to update like for 2 years now but nothing
a while ago my phone went to htc
when i got it back there was a newer version on it with updates so i think that update is useless
Windows update
Updated from
Windows Media 6.0 to 6.1 and worked perfect.
Did for my HTC Touch.

this is not about loading a new rom on your phone. we're talking about the integrated windows update function in windows mobile
it has never provided an update, but all of sudden today, it's not getting a connection to the update server.... instead of saying no updates available...
I am not sure if this is a feature that will ever be enabled. When I worked for Sprint and Verizon there was discussion of FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) updates. The main issue that could cause serious problems if the persons phone should reset or lose power during that update. It would be nice if the mobile device center could keep track of your applications and available updates like the Apple I-Tunes. Has anyone every thought of that? I think it would be fun to hack WMDC.

Upgrading Vista to Windows 7?

Hi,
I am interested in installing Windows 7 on my Shift (mainly for performance reasons) as soon as its final version is released.
But I am simply lazy and don't want to reinstall and configure everything again in windows 7. So what about an upgrade installation from Vista to Windows 7?
I would expect that Win7 takes all the drivers from Vista and use them on its own. Would this work?
Does anyone of you has any experience with upgrading your Shift's Vista installation? What about the storage space? Can I remove the Vista backup (i don't mean the hidden restore image from HTC) after upgrading to Windows 7? For sure I will do an external backup from my current Vista setup before even touching Win7.
Upgrading does some problems that I will explain in like two words... but the main problem of it:
WAIT for Windows 7 RTM [13 July 2009] and FRESH install this. Upgrading not only takes more time, but also space, space that Shift doesn't have, however upgrading may cause some problems like immediately BSOD and some other ****.
Idea: I will fresh install Windows 7 RTM, and allocate two weeks of hard work for solving the problems, or the least most of them, the main problem is BSOD caused by interpolated resolution on Aero and some fullscreen application, with or without Aero, like Windows Media Center. For now... just waiting for Microsoft's product to be released
so, how about HTC Support ?
====
Dear Sir or Madam As I own a HTC Shift, known also as HTC Clio 110, I would be really interested in your support for Windows 7, as Microsoft official RTM release will be available on 13 July 2009.
Me and the HTC Shift community are having problems with the video driver resulting in BSOD when operating on Windows 7 RC.
Hope that Microsoft or HTC resolv these issues as I really need something faster on this machine.
Thanks for your help and I look forward for your response.
Yours faithfully, Vlad DalvuS

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center.
Unfortunately there is no support for MS Windows 7 for the HTC Shift and there is no plans for Microsoft release an upgrade license to this device.
If you have further questions you can call our Call Center from a different handset. In http://www.htc.com/select_country.htm, select your country and then click on the Support tab.
Thank you once again for your continued patronage.

This is so bad.
It is 2009 and I never want to setup windows on my PC again. Working and reliable upgrades should be Microsoft's next focus.
Hi there. I have upgraded my Shift's Vista to Windows 7 and thankfully you where absolutely wrong.
I just wrote down my experiences here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4376405#post4376405
The upgrade took long 3 hours but afterwards everything went well. Seems like Microsoft improved the upgrade procedure in Windows 6.x more than the people expected.

Omnia II GPS application

Hi all
i need a gps application for my omnia II, so i can get speed, position with out using maps (no need to using GPRS), because i search on my phone and don't get any application, in past I have Nokia N82 that has a GPS data that you can get position and save it and speed and distance trip
Thanks
Install Garmin Mobile XT.. you don't need to have GPRS connection to use it.. it directly connects to satelite..
Omnia i8000 has no GPS software provided by Samsung..
thanks for answer but Garmin Mobile XT free or not because in my country can not pay by visa or any other way
you also can use nonigpsplot
you will find it easely with google.
English version is available
I second the Garmin XT. Fantastic program. But yes it costs about 70 bucks.
If you get your Omnia II from Singapore, there's a GPS app provided in the microSD that comes with the phone. Omnia II doesn't come with one pre-installed by itself, however.
google maps 4.0 on my i920 works ridiculously well. i get satellite lock indoors in under one minute.

Not free BUT... If you really like to have all the stats from your trip. Wait til Run.GSP is stable on the i8000, its working on my i8000 but only on fresh memory (as in a soft reset) otherwise it doesnt load. You can download free maps from opensource maps or just not have maps at all. I record my bike ride to work and it tellls where i paused, how long, total distance, a lot of stats.
Trackypro is pretty good too. but both are not free.
Same as levytv I have googlemaps 4 on my i920 and it is free. Locks onto the satilite in under a minute to within 10to 20 meters and that is in the house. You can also go to freewarepocketpc.net, they have a large selection of free gpps apps.
look for gps dashboard.
pretty small, free, and do just wath you wanna.

gps on omnia II
well i have used both garmin xt and igo8 on my omnia II both are doing well and satellite connection is pretty fast than on my omnia i900. however, i prefer igo 8 than garmin xt maybe because i was using igo8 for the past 2 years with my i900. i prefer the features in igo 8 than garmin. only one problem though with igo8, the screen in landscape mode doens't fill the screen of my omnia II. i am using a different version on omnia II because the older version doesn't support higher resolution screens.
I use Garmin XT too, when it comes to Windows Mobile, there is almost always a way around paying for the software, Google enough and you'll find
In internet enabled apps, Google maps works best. Fixes are almost instant. For offline maps, Garmin Mobile XT works wonderfully well, atleast in my country, India.
Cheers!

My phone I bought used had Singapore and West Malaysia maps on it on the Samsung 1 gb sd card. Can Magellan map files work with that app? (the one that comes with Singapore phones) What carrier are they from? (for unlock purposes).
I'm still waiting for the battery or I'd know more...
thanks for the suggestion man !!
Superb Thread
Short+Sweet+Informative, this should be a GPS sticky, in my humble opinion.
I'm using CoPilot live v8 .
It's working very well with my Omnia II .
It was on promotion at 20$ with North America maps during the last Christmas.

Hi ayongkot,
I'm trying to load igo8 on my omnia II but it starts in landscape mode (only half of the screen is visible) and it stops working shortly after starting. I think this is because of the resolution. Which version of igo8 you are using? Can you load it somewhere and share the link, or point me to a thread which has the links?
Thx
