How to enable different hw keyboard locale with WM6.5.x ROMs? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

With new version of WM - 6.5.x it seems like Microsoft has changed hardware keyboard driver. With all previous versions of WM for Kaiser it was a simple trick to change the hw keyboard locale by changing the registry key:
HKLM\Hardware\DeviceMap\Keybd\
CurrLang (DWORD)
With WM6.5.x (with start menu button at the bottom) this registry key doesn't exist anymore. Creating one and setting the appropriate value doesn't change anything.
Does anyone have a solution for that? (particular I'm looking for a way to enable Cyrillic locale - value 1049 for CurrLang)

Moved as not ROM development.
This may help a user of my ROM "6.1" couldn't work it out but did with the REG bellow.. Worth a shot..

Hope that helps.

Urah!!!!!!!!!!!!! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So to change the keyboard locale use HKCU\MUI
CurLang (DWORD)

Hey guys, got the keyboard remaped that's not an issue, however I've just noticed that the 'functioned' keys are not quite right, if I hold fnct-Z I should get a '-' but I get a '~' and X give me a '-' and C a '_'
Not a real showstopper but kinda annoying.
Any ideas?
I had the same problem. On top of that, most of the secondary keys were screwed.Let us know if any of those solutions work.
This is for the Wizard Variant for US (8125 & MDA). I am not sure about European layouts etc. But I have the above mentioned 2 devices and with this settings, they work for me.
HKCU\Keyboard layout\Preload ------ Default (REG_SZ) = e0010409
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd ------ Locale (REG_SZ) = 0409
Ok Back to the Grammys.
I am not using the PV version. However, on the Orwell version, the locale key does not exist in the registry. The locale key was add-on by PV so the keyboard will work with the local language.
You guys can try to delete the locale key. Turn off your Wizard and turn it back on to make the fixed stick. It should work correctly without the locale key.

Is there a way to get English UK added to the regional settings option

qwerty -> qwertz

I have english version of Kaiser and I need to remap (swap) Y and Z buttons on hardware keyboard. Not by screwdriver, only software remap! :c)
Or change keyboard layout from english to german.
Registry tweaks from Hermes doesn't work... Help me, please!
You can switch the language layout of the keyboard by changing a registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
Here you can find the value "CurLang", which defines the language:
409 (Hex) or 1033 (Dezimal) = English
407 (Hex) or 1031 (Dezimal) = German
It works! Thank you!
anyone got this to work with the at&t tilt rom? i have a kaiser but testing the new rom+radio from kyphur but this setting doesnt seem to work for me...

keybord layout somewhat wrong?

I have a windows m 6.5 rom on my att tilt and when i hit the blue FN and hit a : i get %, or if i hit a number i might get a weird character. How do i fix the layout for this?
Whose 6.5 ROM are you using?
Use a registry editor.
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD change CWSLayout from (1) to (0)
make sure CurLang is set to (1033)
This is for QWERTY keyboard.

Need help in keyboard mapping!

Hi Guys,
i flashed NRGz EnergyROM on my Rhodium and got the wwe keyboard layout.
After remapping the software keyboard (worked just fine), i tried to remap my hardware keybord, to the german T-mo standard. But it just doesnt work
Since i tried it via the Rhodium Wiki and several threads here in the forum,
i'm now asking for help, but most of my hw keys won't work
For example the FN key or the ctrl key. But the most annoying thing is, that caps won't work anymore
Can anyone help me to remap those keys plz
Change Registry value
You can use PHM RegEdit program to change the value of the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD /CuRLang to the value corresponding to your language (409 in Hexadicimal for English, 407 for german)
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546131
IT WORKED NOW!!! Thx a lot
But my ctrl and FN key are still mixed up. How can i change this?

Original X1 ENG keyboard

i just flashed my x1 with blackstone
and noticed that the hard keyboard layout changed (e.g. Fn + U = ! instead of 1, Fn + I = @ instead of 2)
does anyone have the fix for it? or kno how to change it back to how it's supposed to be?
i've done searches for changing keyboard layouts but no luck, all they're saying is just edit the registry with code 409 but i've checked my registry and they all seem to be the right codes
please help, thanks!!
