I have used 3 different roms and I have overclocked, etc. I had all these great cabs and stuff but when I got finished doing everything I went right back to the same old wm6.... I like it. I do want it to be faster and look better, etc. I guess what I want to know is what do you guys recommend as being the best and necessary cabs to put on the wing. Is it possible only I like wm6....
I think im in the same boat as you. I think the problem for me is that the software is not well integrated into the phone and it just becomes a huge clutter. Granted the cube and the pocketCM is cool but it just gets old..
Compared to this I previously had was the SPB Pocket Plus.
That home software was well integrated and very easy on the eyes.
Also, iv been tired of the bugs that I have with the cooked roms and its driving me nuts. lol No offense to the ROM cookers! Im just too lazy to fix them.
Even with all of the bugs in the ROMs they cook, it still works like 50 times better than the default T-Mobile ROM.
Not only that, the ROMs that are cooked, (and being cooked), are getting better, and well as the battery life too.
The main question you need to ask yourself is: What do you need? Why do you want it?
Do you want your phone to be a showoff? Or do you want some usefull apps?
Main reason that I cook in what I consider useless apps (to me) is that I know other ppl use it, and that the ones using the stuff I dont, start posring why removed that app, I would use your rom if this and that and so on
But I try to keep it to a minumum when cooking a "fully loaded" rom, I could add alot of more stuff, but why?
Im leaning more and more to less is better, but ofcourse, im cooking roms, and its sort off cool to "showoff" to my friends, witch only have nokias and sony ericsson and its like (useless phones )
But its no that cool anymore, my personal rom is quite small and have few apps, only the stuff I use.
cheers
Personally I havent found a rom that Im perfectly happy with. Ive used three of ITJE's roms and theyre great. But after a few days of use I find that things that I use on a daily basis are missing. So my decision was that I should start making my own. I decided that I was going to take the stock tmo, cut it back and add in the things that I want. That way I have the things that I need, more memory for the phone to play with. And the best thing of all is that Im happy.
Yeah I use Itje's roms and they are awesome. But as soon as another lite or superlite version comes out I'm flashing it right away. I like as little as possible on the roms I use so that I can just customize myself.

I would be very interested to know what is in your personal ROM.
I think ITJE's Rom's are great and they basically fulfill my every need.
People are always going to complain about what they want on a rom ..etc.. Sure there are things I'd like taken out of roms and put into roms ...etc... but we aren't in a position to complain when these Roms are being provided to us free of charge after A LOT of hard work by ITJE and other rom cookers....
Everyone needs to Keep in mind, that all this "I want this, I want that" has to be very annoying to the rom cookers when they are donating their time and effort into making the roms... especially ITJE who doesn't even own a Wing .. so he has to put extra effort and time into making Wing roms, because he is unable to test them properly.
I'm interesting in looking into making roms (if I ever find the time) ... but for the moment, we should all just be thankful of what we have, that is FREE

I second that. Well said. And this is coming from a complainer about the missing Internet Sharing feature. I didn't blame ITJE for dropping this from the rom. Just wanted to find out how to put the darn thing back on. If I want it that bad I would just go back to the stock rom. I am still using the Lite rom and loving it. Waiting to put the last one on but you never know when ITJE will surprise us again.
He has enough warnings and caveats so it really is burner beware. You know what you are getting into.

Hey Itje,
Iv used your touchit 2.0 and 2.3 beta! I actually thought the 2.0 was more stable and bug free on my perticular phone. I actually kept 2.0 for a month! llol
Anyways, Is there a ROM which is just bone stock minus the TMOBILE customization? Or really Lite cooked rom? For the Wing ofcourse!
Thanks
I agree I like ITJEs ROMS as well... I think the less is better is more my style I am planning on cooking my own ROM in the near future. I am waiting to learn alot more first though. I don't want to get in over my head... I think that all the extra wares, plus bugs can kinda get to me.
i am still kinda deciding on which one i should install. i had touch it 2.3beta and i liked it alot but after i installed touch it 4.4, some things seem to changed and i am not liking it as much... what major difference is between these 2 roms?
There are many threads about the same thing and they all say something like this:
Both roms are great in their own way, you should try them both to see which one suits you best. Neither are perfect but their respective cooks are working to make it that way. If you dont like Touch it 4.4, go back to an earlier version or try Open Touch.

ofcourse things change, thats why we release new versions and new roms...
And as far as I can tell from other postings, its the theme that bothers you, and omg, if a theme is what makes you not like a rom, then you really dont know how to use your device
anyways, its a free world, and ppl can use whatever rom they want. Its great that we have options.
Im not into competition, if ppl make more popular or better roms then me, then its great

Well put itje,
People need to stop creating post of this nature and just spend some time reading and trying out different roms until they find one that they like.
Its hard enough cooking the roms and trying to fix them so that everything will work for the users.
I have tried so many roms and now im not sure which one to try so i can have all three in one.
I`m currently using sex1..
Is anyone using a rom that fits the bill that they could recommend?
choose for yourself by flashing is there another way to tell you
you want 6.5 and manila and panels right? well choose itje, agent_47, shadowmikes, timur, nrg. i don't understand what your really saying here. you can just flash one of their roms and add whatever panels you want. are you asking opinions/preferences? i think itje and nrg is pretty good. just flash and try it all out i mean do you really need someone to tell you? should you flash and see for yourself. the main question here is, did you need to start a new thread for this?

Yes i want to keep the panel option plus have win mobile 6.5 with maila too. I have a rom at the moment which is all the above ish, but certain panels dont work with it like the standard xperia one!
Thats why i asked the question. I know you can add panels but like i say they dont work with all the roms, and i have tried a few.
I didnt want anyone to tell me ought i was asking for advice or other peoples opinions i can work things out myself i am an adult!
As for if i should start a thread, why not there are a lot worse posts than mine on here.

well the only thing i can say is if one doesnt' work move on to the next 6.5+manila rom until you'v got all the panels you like to work. have you tried installing the new r3 panel manager or your still using the r2 manager. some roms include the r3 panel mangaer already and if that didn't work you can try the r2 and see if that works with your favorite panel before you start over with next rom.
you should find r2 panel manager in post #2 by smaberg in his touch x roms.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493848
wc also has 6.5+manila as well. try nrg energy rom same thing.
ok about the new thread thingy. no ones gonna say who can or who can't start one, its up to any member. it just you'v probably had the answer before you even started it, all trials and errors. but of course you wanted some peoples opinion, the only way to get that opinion is to start a thread obviously. look im only half with ya on this ok? better than not at all

Ta for your help i`m using shadowmikes rom at the moment and all is well so far..
Is it possible to have Manila on a panel? I'd like to have Titanium on the WM Today screen and Manila on a panel.
I know that there were once a cab that made a panel if you had installed "manila" with a cab.
Ok tbh im sick of the x1...i got it changed 1 time already becouse of a crack in a case...got the new x1 with the new case model...so i guess i wont get the crack again. My question is How to manipulate damage to get the phone 2/3 times changed and after that to chose a new phone or money back...i still have waranty 1year...suggest good ideas not the stupid ones...

Hey, Orelsi is right.
I'm not sick about my X1. Actually you are complaining about the OS, Windows Mobile (the one you call "system"), so I do not see the point of intentionally damage your X1.
Yes, I am sick about X1 cracks, but if only I would have a no-crack X1 it would be my perfect device.
P.S.: btl, I have no lags and crashes (see my signature if you are looking for a fast & stable ROM). Are you with standard ROM? No, I suppose you are not. So, please put the original one back if you want a stable ROM, otherwise this is a developer forum, with instable stuff, so please accept its pros and cons.

I already have that. Maybe instead of spending your time trying to thinkk of ways to cheat someone, you should read some info/topics/etc. about your device.
I can't see how a software issue would be fixed by damaging your hardware anyway lol.

Actual WM 6.5 ROM are stable for daily use... at least for my standard daily use.
If you want something like "WOOOOW", try WM6.1 with Manila2, or NRG ROM WM6.5 with Manila 2.5 (didn't noticed any big bug) or WM6.1 with FEWidgetLite (it simulates Omnia widgets, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4275422), or SPB 3.0 (you can try it before buying) or PointUI and its endless number of widgets.
I think it is enough work for you for one month!
Obviously, if you think that just the iPhone deserved your "WOOOOOW"... then, why did'nt you bought an iPhone?!
I have tried many of the custom ROMs, but still prefer the generic ROMs, R3A with tweaks is perfect for me.
Remember that WinMo will never be super fluid or full of useless eye-candy (at least until WinMo 7 lol).
i cant believe such thread exists lol

Not to be a wise-ass, but if they are invisible how do you see them?
Anyway Elijus is suffering from a common problem. A user blaming his product inappropriately. Orelsi is happy with stock ROM, I got a custom ROM I like. If he flashed ROMs he didn't like its his own damn fault. Read the first post on any ROM thread.
Most importantly I don't think Elijus' conduct is appropriate. If you read the tone of his statements and the way he is blaming cooks for not making a perfect ROM that HE wants it is clear to me that he is displaying poor taste. I think he should remember that these cooks are doing all of us a favor and if he wants a stable phone, get a stable ROM. If he wants the latest he can try a newer 6.5 ROM, but don't be surprised when it is buggy.
To Elijus: Most importantly don't hate on those who provide a free service/product for you to use. Just because you are too petty and self-centered to say "Thank You," you just hate.
just send it in they will fix it ... after the 2nd try and its not done to your liking request a new device.

Maybe you should do some googling/youtube of the phone you're looking at first before you get your phone.. and then go to the store and try it. They'll always let you try phones.. unless you're too shy to ask
Not many good customizable phones atm, mainly just the HTCs/iPhone.. what exactly are you looking for anyway?

I've been updating to every single Energy ROM release, but have noticed that they all pretty much are the same. The look and feel is identical. All that changes are available memory, and relative response.
From some brief reading, I gather that WP7 will not be for our phones. So what lies ahead for Rhodium ROMs? Is someone brewing up some fantastic new UI that will be mind blowing? I've just been getting more and more jaded recently, and am looking for something to look forward to!
Anyone else with me on this?

Switch to a different ROM if the Energy ones are getting too stale for you. Almost all the ROMs here are going to offer Sense in some form or another. Try out different themes also. There is no chance for WP7 to grace the Rhodium as the minimum hardware specs are not met. Try out Jackos ROMs or Simplicity. both of them offer very good interfaces with few bugs and great support.
what I want to know is when do all these system builds stop?? Like, are people at MSFT plugging away bringing us these new builds every week, or is that just chef's...?
I was hoping that once WP7 came out, there would be a decisive final version for all the chefs to tinker with, then perfect, after a month or so of ironing out the bugs, each chef could have their final rom for the Rhodium, which has probably been the most used out of all these phones..
Hmm ...... show me your fon. what? you're still flashing the latest NRG ROM? how much time do you spend on the net, at XDA? Aha you have ORD! ;-) Anyways, joking aside, I'm praying for the XDANDROID project to add BT functinality, then I'll switch over to Android for good. Is there no way for HTC to legally produce an Android ROM for the Rhodium, now that WP7 is out? Bipinsen - please take a months' holiday from flashing, it'll renew your awe for NRG ROMS. ORD is sweeter the second time around, lol
Try out the Simplicity roms. You won't be disappointed.

NRG also has his ROM with the Simplicity theme built in. I haven't researched it, but is there a reason to flash the Simplicity ROM, and not the NRG ROM with the theme?
The other ROM is Jackos. That has some interesting apps built in.
But I think this brings about what I've been trying to say. CFB hinted at it already - ALL Rhodium ROMs will have Sense in one flavor or another. So is that the be all and end all for all UIs? Should I just flash a base ROM and throw SPB Mobile Shell on top? I suppose the next big thing will really be XDAndroid.

I think you might have simplicity confused with .sencity.
Simplicity is a whole different kind of ROM from Energy. simplicity (as the name implies) is really lightweight, with very few cooked-in apps. Less than 50mb of storage memory used after getting things configured on simplicity. But not as many options as Energy, such as the 5 different Start Menu choices.

I guess the options are there, they're just floating around in cabs somewhere as opposed to conveniently in Energy ROMs. I think I'll add some links to the simplicity thread
On topic: What's wrong with CHT 2? It really adds a lot to the Sense interface. Other than that I'm not sure there will be anything too revolutionary for the Rhodium. The CPU is lacking, compared to all the newer phones with Snapdragons nowadays. It's still a great phone though, will always be. I have yet to see a QWERTY keyboard on a phone as good as this one!

That would be a cool alternative to having the Start Menu alternatives cooked in. I personally could only find CABs for 2 of the 4 Start Menu alternatives that Energy supplies. And not my favorite, "Compact".
Although I have to say, there are still some things that I prefer about the standard Start Menu. So I'm still somewhat torn about whether the Program Memory savings are significant enough for me.

You're absolutely right. Rookie mistake on my part.
But if the ROM is really that "simple" then would I be putting something like SPB MS on top of it?

There's nothing "wrong" with CHT 2. But there's nothing that amazing either. I have yet to figure out why my quick links keep rearranging themselves, or getting duplicated. Putting contacts as either quick links or free links don't survive a reboot (the pictures get replaced by generic gray icons). None of the fixes have worked permanently for me.
I mean CHT 2 is basically one giant task scheduler, along with the ability to add free links.

I have tried all of NRGs start menu options, and the one that I've liked the best is the "Panel" style. It maintains folder structure, along with icons that are recognizable. The Sense style menu is too laggy - it takes forever for the menu icons to render.

Simplicity still has Sense. If you run Mobile Shell exclusively, it might be a good idea to flash a ROM that only has Titanium, as you would get some storage memory savings by not having all the Sense/Manila files. Not sure if there is a performance difference at all running Mobile Shell on a Sense ROM with Sense turned off, versus a clean ROM without Sense.

I tried the beta on CHT2.0 on Energy ROM, and did enjoy the features (although I'll agree that 2.0 is more of an evolution of CHT than revolutionary). I liked the free links, the added widgets, and the Android-style 3-screen wide home tab (although that last feature is really not all too different from the multi-level home tab in CHT1.8.5, just swiping in a different direction!).
That said, the 2.0 beta is still too buggy. I had the same problem with quicklinks occasionally disappearing or moving. And fairly frequent restarting of Sense while swiping the home tab side to side. I know there was some discussion on the Energy thread of how to prevent/minimize this by having less objects on the home tab. But the bottom line is CHT2.0 is still beta and still buggy.
I've gone back to CHT 1.8.5 until 2.0 becomes a stable release (and on simplicity ROM now).

Compact Start Menu is Quick Menu. colossus_r made a nice version of it with all the settings links included.
Since I have so much RAM using the latest Energy ROM, I'm thinking of using ShellSwitcher with SBP Mobile Shell and mskip's WM 7 theme just to get a feel for WM 7's hubs. mskip is also working on a new Droid theme that looks interesting. This might be an easy way to try out new fun stuff.
If I like it, I'll reflash with NRG's Titanium ROM for more speed and memory and dump Sense.

Interesting thought. I haven't checked out mskip's themes in a while. Heading over there now...
It might be that theming is the next big thing for the TP2s. The ROMs definitely have reached their limits on features and functionality.
In few months our phones will be a piece of garbage with no further developments

I'm waiting for spb 5.0 to come out for the general public, if that every happens..

I did. But that development has been a disaster. They went from 1GHz spec crap, to now saying that for lower devices the experience will be not as enhanced. And then there are threads that talk about no end-user release for the software. The days of SPB were here, and are now gone.
In other news, I did check out the WP7 theme. Hmm.. nothing that exciting. And things look more confusing than anything else. Android here I come...
Just kidding.

I'm running Android on my TP2.
All that's needed is Bluetooth, Camera, and usb headphone support.
