Hi Everybody
Thanks to your support and explanation in this forum, i upgraded my Qtek 2020 to WM 6. But now i have problem when i use tomtom 7. During navigation, the screen freezes for a couple of seconds, and then starts to function again. Every few minutes, the screen freezes, and so on. I tried to upgrade radio rom to ver. 1.17, tried different tomtom versions, and also the ATIFIX.cab file, but this doesn't work on Himalaya devices.
I need right suggestions to fix the problem.
Thanks to all.
Regards
Sounds to me like lack of memory or slow sd-card. A 133x works fine!
I finally solved!!!
The problem was the phone section turned off.
When i turn on phone section ok Qtek2020, Tomtom works fine, never freeze and really smooth during navigation.
That's all!!

Hi,
I have been using the 1.440 rom upgrade for the iMate PDA2k for the last 2 months and apart fromt he normal shortcomings associated with the rom, such as the phone hanging on pressing the red "hang up" button and the sound associated bug with WM10, i have been pretty content with this present version. I have recently installed FLASHDASH and macromedia flash player on my PDA2k to enjoy animated themes however the software refuses to display the selected themes for some odd reason.
I have also hard reset my machine but still it just doesnt want to work.
I REALLY want this thing to work so please can someone advise me what to do.
Regards
Ahmed
There is something wrong with the today screen part of the 1.40 ROM; i cannot minimize pocketbreeze and uptime meter not works properly.
All,
I recently flashed over to the HTC ROM. Since that time, I have had TomTom hangup on me after I fully charged the battery. Partial charges seem fine, but whenever the battery is fully charged and I do a softreset Tom Tom will start up and hang on the startup screen at that point my phone is useless and won't respond unless I take out the SD card.
So I have two questions:
1) First, what is the regedit I can do to stop TT from automatically starting on reset?
2) I am currently running TT Nav 6.010-ish... I am planning on updating using the cab files I have seen on here to 6.032. After updating, do you think that will solve my problems with TT hanging up??
Thanks for the read.
Hello,
I've got a little problem, I've installed TomTom 6.032 on my Kaiser. After successful instalation it shows up in Programs and Today screen but that Today screen's TomTom icon doesn't work, it only makes a sound when I click on it and nothing else happend. From Programs it can be started normally. I'd be glad for any suggestions. Thanx
I've had a T Mobile MDA Vario III for a few months and the GPS has been consistently rock solid. Fixed in seconds after I installed TomTom and every time since. Unfortunately with the stock ROM the GPS was the only thing that was rock solid, everything else was slow, unstable and flakey. So I flashed Dutty's latest ROM which is fantastic, it's so fast and stable it's like I have a brand new phone all of a sudden. The only problem is the GPS performance is all of a sudden a bit ropey. I finally managed to get it to fix after changing the Radio ROM from 1.64.08.21 to 1.64.06.04 and hard resetting. That was this morning. I checked it a couple of times during the day and still it was OK. But I tried again just now and it can't get a fix, it's just sitting there on the window sill with one or two red bars in GPS tool. Does anyone have a clue about this one? It's obviously not a hardware problem since it was fine before I flashed the ROM. QuickGPS is up to date.
Thanks for any help.

It does also appear to me as if Dutty's latest WM61 ROM needs way more time for a GPS fix (several minutes), compared to the original WM60 versions I've tested (much less than 1 minute, in any case). Can't tell why.

I have the same problem. T-Mobile Netherlands MDA. Stock WM5 was crap beyond comparison, but GPS fix was ok. Now flashed on the B&B 4.3 several months ago. Love that ROM, but GPS fix time went down the drain. It now takes 10 minutes sometimes, while driving around. Remaining at one location speeds up the fix, but still up to 5 minutes. QuickGPS is always kept up to date. Doesn't seem to help at all. When I've recently used GPS, it always fixes in no time when I start up the TomTom 6.
same problems there, with Dutty's latest rom and Radio 1.64.08.21
With tomtom 6.032, 10 minutes to fix after a reboot (softreset or shutdown)
When tomtom have fix it once, next fix will be fast...strange...
My Vario III stock ROM was also sluggish overall but would get a GPS fix within 5-10 seconds of starting TomTom or Navizon.
I flashed Duttys WM6.1 5.2.19199 RTM a few days ago and I'm using 1.58.26.20 Radio.
The GPS now takes aroud 20-30 seconds to get a fix. Not a massive increase for the extra benefits of the ROM, and nowhere near the 10 minutes others are getting but its definitely a little slower.

I suspect Dutty's ROM is resetting the GPS when it does a soft reset, hence the GPS loses all the 'known location'/satellite data it had before. So, basically, it has to start trying to figure out where it is in the world all over again. That can take quite a while if the satellite signals are weak, and the Qualcom receiver in the Kaiser is not as sensitive as the SIRFIII (IMO), nor is there any antenna included in the Kaiser.
I don't believe it's a problem with the nav software. It's the GPS unit which decides it has a fix or not.

OK I just spotted the "after a soft reset" bit. My 20-30 second time went up to around 2-3 minutes after a soft reset.
I guess the post above makes sense and would be worth more investigation.
Has anyone contacted Dutty yet?

confirm that navigation soft are not in question.
I used GPSTest and GPSTool, same problem after reboot.
And QuickGPS or SeaSGEE have no effect...
To be precise, i have this:
[Mar 08 08]Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19199 UC RTM
Radio 1.64.08.21
I think we need to try Niki's Radios...
iv just downloaded the latest tomtom, and its put a badge/icon on my today screen. AFAIK it doesnt actually do anything, it cant be clicked on or selected, and as a result id like to get rid of it.
iv tried going through the Tomtom settings, checking the today\items and deleting it from the registry under software\microsoft\todays\items but none of it gets rid of it.
Does anyone have a way of doing it?
cheers
You need to *uncheck* the Tomtom box in the today screen options and that icon will then only be accessible from the start menu. Thats what I did with my TyTN II and it works perfectly. If the box is checked you'll get that icon on the today screen.
BTW, if you're using the recently released HTC WM 6.1 update with HTCs Navigator 6.032 are you finding GPS performance to be much worse than before the upgrade (slow fixes and wild fluctuations in GPS reception bars even when stationary)?
thanks for the reply, ill give it a go.
Im a new tom tom & 6.1 user (just flashed one of duttys), so dont have any previous experience to compare it with, sorry.
I'm finding the Tom Tom (and other GPS apps) to be worse after the upgrade unfortunately - it's the only fault I can find with the new ROM. The problem for me is just the first fix after any soft reset - it always takes an age (up 10-15 minutes) which I'm sure wasn't the case before.
Subsequent fixes (after closing and later re-opening TT or another GPS program) are always much quicker, within 30 seconds even, so obviously once it's been initialised once it's fine, until the next soft reset when you're back to square one.

do you download the quickgps data after the soft reset, i believe that doesnt save when you do a soft reset, and the first lock you get from GPS, will be remembered and make it easier for the future connections.
I never have a problem with GPS connections, only tomtom and its poorly slow application refresh.
AFAIK it downloads in the background on a regular basis still, whenever I'm plugged into the PC at work (which is most of the working day) - whenever I check it, it always claims to be up to date, anyway. But I agree the behaviour is as if that data isn't there anymore... peculiar.

Then you're lucky! Mine now locks up regularly (2 or 3 times a day) and it never used to before the up?grade.

Although this part also applies to me, even after getting a fix, if I shut it down while I'm moving and start it up again after a couple of minutes its still much slower than it used to be in the same locations under WM 6.0
I'll email HTC and Tomtom about it as it's clear there's now a problem.

If you ever used HardSPL (or possibly even if you didn't) you probably need to flash the new HTC SPL - see the thread over in ROM development. It cured all the freezing issues for me.

I'm pretty sure it's an HTC issue, since I have the same problems using GPS in MS Live Search too. Unfortunately there's not much point in me emailing them, because mine is officially Vodafone branded and they don't support it.

Thanks for the tip. I'm the old school sort who believes the hardware provider should be responsible for fixing things, hence why I'll write when I get the time but I may try this later if I get annoyed enough! I've never installed HardSPL and this official HTC upgrade was the first flash I've subjected my TyTN II to.

In the end the buck stops with HTC and as they are responsible for my phone, I'll remember other branded users are also depending on a fix from them when I write.
