surf and talk - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

is there anyway or any application that is out there that will let you browse the web and talk om the phone at the same time?

its called a web browser, please do not post the same question in multiple forums, kthxbai

is this because you dont have a data plan attached to this and only can use gprs hence cant be on the phone at the same time? then is so no

Some newbie questions about wi-fi and messengers.

I can't seem to find the exact info I am after. I am intending to purchase one of these phones off someone as soon as possible.
However, I don't really want it for use as a phone. Merely a temp solution so that I don't need my PC on 24/7. I want to be able - via wi-fi - to browse some web pages and also keep in touch with some friends via windows live messenger and yahoo messenger.
I just don't seem to be able to find the relevant software I would need on both the windows live, and yahoo websites. Is what I want to do possible with one of these phones? Oh and could I have internet explorer open at the same time as having a messenger app open? thanks for any help
edit: sorry, I should specify it's the XDA Mini S I am looking at buying.
The best MSN and Yahoo comunicator is Agile Messenger.
MSN Messenger is installed in every XDA Mini S as a standard.
Normally, that means without any 3rd party software, it's impossible to have open two applications in the same window (if that's what you're after) but if you just want to browse the net using IE and be logged in in the background - yes, that's how it works.
Then whenever you get a message the pop-up window will appear even if you are using other applications.
Excellent, that's as good as I need to be honest. Thanks
edit: can anyone confirm that once unlocked I can use a pay as you go sim card from t-mobile? Also does the phone need a sim card in it in order to be used to access the net etc via wi-fi? Thank you.

Blackberry Connect

I have the Tilt and I was wondering is their anyway I can have both Media Net and Balckberry running at the same time? Everytime i am messages or browser the web my bb disconnects. Any way around this?
No, the Tilt can only connect to one APN at a time. MediaNet or blackberry.net
eh? so if i were to use ONLY the bb connect service for email, i'll get disconnected from browsing etc every time an email gets pushed out to me?
another question. i'm currently pulling down 4 pop3 accounts into their individual email "folders" on my tilt via default pocket outlook polling setup. can blackberry connect do the same with regards to different "folders" / account?
eg: shove different account emails to their respective outlook folders vs all in one bucket?
i had a 7200 series blackberry *years* ago using bb internet service and regardless of how many accounts you pulled down it all got dumped into the same bucket so to speak. there was no easy way to differentiate between biz critical vs personal emails at a glance.
?? so far i havent been able to find any helpful info re bb connect online yet.

No, it's the other way around. Whenever something else grabs the data link, BBConnect goes into suspend mode and will reconnect when it's released.

I creates a separate folder for each e-mail acount. As far as I know, that's the only way it will do it.
how does it work Blackberry connect on the Kaiser ?
Do we need to install the Blackberry software ? (Blackberry connect 4).
Can we then browser the internet if my company pay for it ? (I had Blackberry connect 2 installed on an HTC Universal, I could read my emails and sync Calendar/notes/tasks but I never could browser the internet ...I never could make Black Connect 4 working on my Universal, so I don't know if I would be able to browser the internet with it).
Thanks a lot

There are a number of threads of people posting their experience with BBC on the Kaiser. Browsing works, with some limitations. But also, its possible that your company's policies can restrict some BB functionality. It all depends on the config and the plans you have. But ultimately, you canbrowse the internet, you can get your email pushed to you. The biggest issue is the data connection issue described in the last couple posts. If you want more info. Search this forum for blackberry and you will find alot of testimonial expeirence in getting it set up and using it.
Personally, I found it to be too slow, too much of a memory and battery hog. I removed it within 2 days of installing it. And the difference in performance on the Kaiser and its battery is night and day IMO.
I use Seven's beta software now for my email pushing.
Thanks a lot for your infos !
I've been running it for a little more than a week.
Cons: I noticed that sometimes my appointments don't update on the Tilt when I move it on my desktop OL calender. You need to keep as few programs running as possible or it slows the device and the battery life isn't good. I like the BB keypad better. The Tilt wakes up with the screen dim and outside it is a real problem. I've had it lock up a few times and go so slow I needed to reset.
Pros: Best of WM and BB. The BB has a poor PIM so using PocketInformant again is very nice. 3G for browsing. The disconnect-reconnect is automatic so it isn't a problem for me.
I haven't made up my mind if I going to go back to my 8800. If I wasn't using BES (corporate email) I wouldn't use the BB but that isn't my choice.
Regards-Michael G.

Yes, you need to install BBConnect. You want BBConnect 4. I understand that HTC makes it available on their website for Kaiser. I got mine through AT&T on a Tilt, so it was a little different. One quirk, if you got your Kaiser in North America, you have to figure out if it came from Europe or Asia to register on the HTC site. One of the major improvements in BBConnect 4 is it will suspend the blackberry connection if you access the internet using a non-blackberry browser.
You can browse the internet one of two ways. When you install the blackberry software, it also installs the blackberry browser. It will be in the blackberry folder in the programs folder. This goes through your company's system to the internet. This won't interrupt your e-mail, but the blackberry browser is rather weak.
The other way is through any other browser. However, you have to have the APN for your provider programmed in. Your provider's web site will probably have that information. Unlimited data usually comes with a blackberry data plan. So, if you can get your company to pay for a plan, that should get you internet access, even if you don't go through your company's BES system.

That's true. You have to be careful to avoid programs that suspend bbconnect constantly.

Yes. It's running on my Tilt.
Regardless of where your Kaiser or Tilt came from, you can follow these links to the software needed to install it, if you want it.
http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/

You need 2 pieces (get one from each link above):
1. You need the Blackberry Connect software that installs on your Kaiser/Tilt. It's a .cab file. (first link above)
2. You need the Blackberry Connect for Windows Desktop software that installs on your PC. It's a .exe file. (second link above, halfway down the page)
There's also a help file at the bottom of the second link.

How do I make tzone work on my tilt?

I have a unlocked tilt flashed with HTC rom. I configured it to tmobile setting. I added the $5.99 tzones feature. However, I can only able to use IE to browse http://wap.tzones.com not other websites? But i saw someone on this forum are able to browse website like yahoo and google using IE. How can i do that?
thanks
Hi, I do have the 5 dollars plan before... i think it can only can access t-zone..... than i upgrade it to the 20 dollars plan. the IE work so great.... and all the function on the kaiser work perfect... like the weather stuff.
stick in the t-zones proxy. google "216.155.165.50" and you'll be able to browse most any site after you set it up properly. not all things will work, but basic browsing is good to go
I enter the settings for tmobile and the internet works fine. I have the tilt with the htc home plugin installed. My question is that when im hooked up to activesync the weather program works and programs such as yahoo and aim messenger. But when i unhook the data cable it doestn connect to those services. Is there nyway to get this working? thanks
Get the CAB file
The file was created by another forum member.
This will setup the 5.99 plan on your system. Make sure you also run the hidden proxy OFF cab file on your Tilt.
With that you should be able to get email, brows web pages, and utilize Google's and Microsoft's maps.

I already PMed you about this but maybe someone else knows the answer. I run the hidden proxy off cab install this and it says that "your are not authorized to view this page" for any program?
Just out of curiosity, can you confirm that Tmobile has activated the 5.99 plan on your number?

[Q] why can't i use the facebook app

im using a X1.and i can't enter website facebook.com or use facebook application and i can't figure out why!anyone have a solution for this problem????
Does your browser/facebook panel/facebook app return any error message? Are you able to access other sites as well? It may be that your GPRS/3G internet connection is disabled/not set up if you're unable to access the net at all!
I'm not sure. It may be caused by your low internet connection speed.
It is happened to me when I go to a G/EDGE Coverage and it's better when I reached 3G.
If you like to get another try you may try an application from marketplace.
Good luck!
Are you able to access other sites beside facebook on Opera/IE mobile? If no, it's an issue with your internet connection. If yes, try clearing your browser's cache & cookies.
Alternatively, as mymailx mentioned, install Microsoft's version of FB wrom the WM marketplace.

[Q] Applications which connect automaticaly to internet

Goodmorning to everyone, i search all the threads but i didnt find nothing similar to my problem.
I use htc td for about 5 months, i dont use vodafone internet but only wifi.

Such as Fim (facebook instant messanger), weather applications, xda facebook, midomi etc.
These applications seems that they cannot connect to the internet so they dont start.
All i get is some messages : dont find internet connection and things like that although i am connected via wifi.
Ps : internet exlorer also dont open (i get message internet explorer cannot find the page), although i can serf easily with opera 10.
