new x1 owner -- some issues - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello all.
i just recently bought (2 days now) a shiny new X1 and i am quite pleased with it for the most part... except for some issues
so ... some questions;
build quality is ok but it feels like a wobble when the unit is closed during tapping. is this normal? in other words the screen sort of "shifts" around in movement ... is this normal?
my rom came with arabic support (the unit has arabic fonts lettering on the keyboard) however when writing a message i cant figure out how to turn the keyboard into arabic.. only the on-screen-keyboard displays arabic.
well thats all done with cause i changed the rom and even though i backed up following the steps in the tutorial on this forum when i restored the rom the arabic applications didnt restore nor did the fonts. i dont know why...
so now i installed many roms and even though i installed Mobidev (the arabic localization) the on-screen-keyboards only display english. for example, christian's rom, the valkrye rom, and the Unoff rom. all are english however i cant figure out how to add the arabic keyboard...
any help is appreciated.

comeon guys... ???

It's normal that it 'wobbles', there are two parts (the actual phone and the screen)attached to eachother at two points I think .. not sure why SE/htc didn't decide to fix the wobble thingy though

thanks
any ideas on how to make the hardware keyboard switch to another language ?

get the regedit program on the forums and then find the keyboard code which uses arabic as its layout then it should work.
or you can always just look for a custom arabic rom , Hard-reset + flash the rom will always do the trick too.

Non-latin languages require more work, because they need to get the IME working whereas latin charset languages just need the characters and accents. I suggest you flash an Arabic ROM to make your life easier.
The au key should be the language toggle.

Hello Everybody !
For beginning great thank for your work !
I just finish to buy a Kaiser (Vodafone) in china, but i'am french, so i have download the French ROM from the Wiki, No problem working well, but my physical Keyboard still in french after all the register modification i have do...
I have found 3 kinds of modifications on the net but the 3 not work or make my keyboard disable... So i need your help for solve this problem, i can use the WWE ROM is not a real problem for me but some Tweaks application does work, and for develloping some applications with visual studio 2k8 i prefer use the french version.
I hope we can found something for my Kaiser, maybe someone have already resolve this problem, or if someone thing somethink about how to put the QWERTY physical keyboard on a French ROM, i will be happy to try !

Keyboard from Qwerty to Azerty

I have a Touch Pro that was bought with a French WM6. I update it with a original HTC English Rom update and everything works fine. I would only like to change the keyboard back (probably should have backed it up before I did Rom update) to azerty. Can anybody tell me how to do that for the hardware keyboard and the onscreen keyboard?
I tried the procedure that makes you change the register key but don't work for me.
I've seen some .cab files going around to make these changes for many other languages, does it also exist for Dutch (Belgian) of French (Belgian).
Thanks
Please ignore this thread
Will start a new one cause this is not accured anymore.
i don t know
i know just use BDR to change the value but i am not sure

Swedish Hardware keyboard and software T9 fully working!

For all you swedish people that has not yett gotten this to work on WWE roms heres how i got it to work. I was so happy and as i seen no one has yett to post a good explination on how to get BOTH t9 and hardware to work. So here is how. If you follow this list YOU WILL get it to work. AND DO EXACLY as i tell you.
1. Download the latest Nrg rom 2.0 It has the new Manilla and i myself think Nrg does a great work with hes roms. Keeping them upp to date and good speed.
Install this rom then continue to next chapter
2. Download the lang pack so that you can get full swedish support on all menus and so on so forth.
http://xboxmod.totalgamer.org/release/additionnal_language.cab
or from the new manilla thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493531
3. On your phone Press start then go to Programs / Utilities then run the Keyboard selector program. choose Htc Keyboard.
4. Download the
[APP] Scandinavian KB Tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496876&highlight=swedish
Install and run this program. when its upp Select Norwegian. NOT swedish. Restart the Phone and you will be able to type åäö using your hardware keyboard.
5. now open the registry editor and go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
and put in on "CurLang"=41D
this will make whole meny swedish
6. now to make your t9 swedish WITHOUT crewing upp your Hardware keyboard.
go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402121
And download that cab and install it to your phone.
When done go to the T9 config and select swedish.
You have now a phone with full swedish config and a good new rom.
Hope you enjoy this and are as happy as i were when i got this working.

Nice Work jimmyhawkin!
One Question ... Does this change the complete system to Swedish or Manila only?
Mvh
HueMann i Skåne
Well manila only for this one but i guess the only thing left to do is change region setting to swedish and you have all fixed
Note that with the Nrg rom and the new manila you hardly ever see anything but the manila shell. Depends on what you work with. but for normal uses you hardly ever see anything but manila.
But if you want to go even further then i deskribe change the region setting to swedish.
May I ask why my posts were deleted?
I think they have a rule here that only "members" with 1000 posts or more can post..... I've also noticed my posts being removed or Moved to the "Don't Ask Questions!" Thread as well...
This is amazing
Thanks alot, Jimmy!
I'm actually really satisfied with this ROM, and the manilla is just amazing.
Together with this Swedish pack, it's perfekt, if you don't think about the small manilla bugs, which will probably be fixed by the Xboxmod people.
Huge thanks!
One thing, though; is there any way to make the whole WM6.1 Swedish?
Google is your friend But i search this time for you.
As it seems sins this rom has a English windows mobile installed. Swedish is not included. So you will have to live without that.
But if you ask me its a small price 2 pay sins its not verry often you digg down that deep in to the system. Normal days use your in Manilla all the time.
So sorry swedish in windows is not possible. But if you want a fast rom with the new manilla this is the way to go. If you want a rom that totaly swedish and frankly made me nuts sins its so slow and ****ty. well then you use the rom icluded on the phone or a shedish rom that can be downloaded here on the forums. but thats the same as the one that comes with the phone.
cant get it to work
i did as you sayd and åäö doesnt function wat to do ?

I had to use -Norwegian (Bokmal) 1044 because finnish version did not work.
Now every button's with FN+ funktion works like they should work.
Does this work with the latest NRG ROM? With Manila 2.5 Max sense?

Can't get this to work. I replaced 1033 with 41D in CurLang and did softrestart. Nothing changed for me
Edit: Hardreset fixed it instead. Thanks!

Thai Version of TD2

Hi I want to buy a Touch Diamond 2 for brother in law who is Thai. He wants version that has Thai language.
Does anyone know which region version I should buy.
Normally, there is no any ROM that has Thai!
For Thai ROM is developed by Thai's web forum calls PDAMOBIZ.COM
But, it is still no ROM for Topaz, due to it very new.
However, if your brother in law can use english menu, there are some Thai company that sell Thai software calls ThaiWinCE and Thai-g (for me, now I recomended ThaiWinCE).
That you can buy from them via there homepage.
In the software, there will give you Thai input Keyboard, Thai Regional setting and make your WM phone able to read Thai.

There is also something called korechithai.cab that install thai fonts (and other south-eastern fonts I think) and basic WinMo thai input keyboard (to be used with a stylus, but it is better than nothing). I do not know if it is related to the ones mentioned in previous post (an earlier version maybe?), but afaik it is free, i did found it on Thai WinCE message boards. I installed it on my previous PDA, and re-installed it on my TD2. No compatibility issues, although the cab was for an earlier version of WinMo, it is still working nicely on 6.1 topaz...
It allows me to use free thai-english dictionary (there is also one hanging around, using the MDict engine), I will check during my next trip to thailand if it work for viewing thai characters in SMS in Touchflo and browse thai website...
But as the previous poster said, this will not change the WinMo menus, nor touchflo3D, not any pre-installed apps: those will remain in the language your Topaz came pre-installed with...which, in my case, is a blessing ;-)
Thanks for the replies.
I will try the korechithai.cab on my device later. If it is ok then I will just buy him a UK version.
I installed the korechithai.cab but now both my volume buttons & the call answer button no longer work.
Anyone have this problem & know how to fix it.

Strange, I installed it too and I do not have this problem...Have you soft resetted your TD2?
BTW, after expansion my korechithai gives different cab:
KbdChinese.cab
KbdKorean.cab
KbdThai.cab
korechithai4ppc.cab
SIPChange.cab
I installed korechithai4ppc.cab first (this gave the thai fonts, so I was already able to read thai words in my dictionary after this install)
then KbdThai.cab, this added the thai keyboard (classic WM keyboard format, so stylus-oriented, or can work with fingers...if you have very sharp nails ;-) )
I did not install SIPChange.cab, this one is not compatible with 6.1 (or so it says in the instruction). I think it is intended for deeper change (program shortcuts, maybe some OS messages or menus), things I had no intention to change anyway.
I you have installed SIPChange.cab, I suspect it is the origin of your problem. I would try to uninstall it, and if it does not work, only solution I see is a hard reset, then try the installation of korechithai4ppc.cab then KbdThai.cab only...

Is it possible to tell me where to download korechithai4ppc.cab of better still can you email it to me. I have tried but can't find it anywhere.
The korechithai.cab I downloaded from here http://my.opera.com/cameron_en/blog/2008/02/03/ime-complete-installation-files-download-section does not work properly.
For anyone who's interested I have found a fully compatible version of korenchithai4ppc.cab at this link http://sinocom.ru/index.php?topic=159.msg3006;topicseen as you can see it is in Russian but all you need do is scroll down approx 2/3rds of the thread & the link for rapidshare is there.

International keyboards

Oh joy. Now that HSPL is approaching and there is even a great-looking 6.5 ROM in the offing life is beginning to have meaning again (how sad that sounds).
Could anyone tell me what the situation with keyboard drivers on Rhodium is? While I absolutely want an English OS I would hate to loose my Scandinavian "ÅÄÖ" characters on the HW keyboard. On the Kaiser there was a small driver that had to be nstalled each time I got a new ROM. I'm guessing it will be the same for Rhodium? Is anyone with more IT competence than me (=anyone ) given this any thought at all?
Thanks/M
please note, that layout is different, i had this problem with touch pro first version, i had to use some addons created to have the layout for finnish
version.
You just need to change the layout as execine said. Sometimes you have to add the layout if a prebuilt one does not exist. I am sure it can be ripped from an official rom for your country of origin.
well if really WM sucks in this area, I need at least 2 languages - and layout changing will not help at this situtation - because these languages have totally different chars.
why it's so hard for microsoft to make ADD KEYBOARD like it's done in windows XP?
lol it's version 6.5, how much more releases they have to done - just before they'll do this pretty simple feature?
It actually does exist. My sisters old Wing had it. Talk to aserg and ask him how he did it. I don't know. He had a way to use 2 different hardware keyboard layouts by hitting a softkey.
yes, it exist. e.g. at rhodium russian edition there are special button even at hardware keyboard, to change layouts. but if you want to use it at your locale you need to hack it. becuase there is no easy way to activate it on another rom. all others solutions mostly works for virtual keyboard - and this way you'll get new visual design - what I don't want to do, and others just for hw keyboards - what is not ideal either

Except my sisters device was an US device....
This thread has a hardware keyboard mapping utility. You can even have it run at startup. All that needs to be done is to create a custom layout file for the Scandinavian TP2.
