I have already do some research and i have read many posts in the forum.
I want to know if there any method to solve the problem now?
I have a HTC diamond which is "rogers" brand.
I use it in Honk Kong, all the things work perfectly, but i can not get the 3G signal
In the forum, i have gotten some information,
Rogers is 850/1900 MHz
Asia(Hong Kong) is in 900/1800 MHz
Is there any program to solve my problem?
Or it is the hardware problem, no software can solve it
Thank you all of your help

Hi,
I just got a UK Touch Diamond, and using in US with AT&T. Apparently 3G is not working, and I'm pretty much stuck with GPRS or EDGE. I was wondering if it would be possible to add 3G (US) support by installing a US radio ROM. Or will I need to replace the phone with a US version?
Thanks
Right for the last time!!!!, the uk/asian spec of the Diamond will not support 3G in the USA because it IS MISSING the attenna for that band and no updated rom etc will ever fix that problem. Its a hardware problem rather than a software problem
If you want 3G in the US then wait for the American version of the Diamond....should be out by July sometime and will support 3G in US.
While I am certainly much the [email protected]@b when it comes to upgrading a WinMob device I do know something of the networks.
In reading and flashing I have seen the below Radio ROMs in various posts for the US for at&t/Cingular and a different one for TMobile.
Cingular 2.25.11
2.61.11
2.69.11
TMobile is a continuous 1900 mhz network and at&t/Cingular is not. In some places at&t is 1900 and in others it is 850. (there is also the 2100 mhz umts but no need to concern yourself with it if you are using a Wizard) Still yet, in some places like Florida you will find both 850 and 1900 mhz towers active in the same area. Now, if one or more of these ROM's has a preference for 850mhz or 1900mhz it could account for a lot of problems. Further if one of these ROMs does not transition readily from/to 850/1900 it could also create issues.
Yes, in a perfect world the phone could transition from one to the other without a hitch but this is not a perfect world. Food for thought anyway since I have not seen this pointed out elsewhere in the forum.
Well I believe this is very interesting. I have has many many issues with Cingulars Radio ROM. and reading there forum the delivered Radio ROM (2.25.11) actually has a problem switching between data and phone. And they just dont care over there.
I am very interested to hear anyone's Ideas on which one works best for a Cingular phone in the US. I am still using the 2.25.11 right now and have to read if Ic an flash the Radio to a different version (I only have a hardSPL installed on my locked G4).
Well, anyway, very interesting point of view. I hope more people chime in.
Thanks,
SoBBie
I would think that the Radio Rom from a Unbranded HTC 8125 would have vanilla preferences and would likely transition from one band to another based purely on signal strength without carrier determined preferences, but this is just an educated guess.
By unbranded I mean straight from HTC. Not setup for TMobile or Cingular or anyone else.
Now of course the SIM card is loaded with a list of towers by vendor which your phone will connect to in order of carrier preference to keep you from "roaming" on someone else's tower which costs them more. When there are changes in your region the carrier sends out a "push" to update the SIM. Something I miss from my IPAQ is the ability to choose which vendor my phone connected to or I could choose "Automatic". But that is a discussion entirely different than this one... heh heh
Last Week i ugraded my ROM to 1.93.456.3 WWE succesfully, now my diamond is quadband.
I got today a new sim card of an oparator that only uses 850 Mhz, the phone works fine but when i try to use 3 G services from this operator it doesnt work at all.
Is anyone experiencing some issues with 3G 850 Mhz after udgrading the ROM ?
See that search button? Use it. I think this question has been asked more than any other on here, it's very easy to find the answer.
got it thanks ..
Hi all,
I'm new to MDAs and to these forums so bear with me. I looked around quite a bit and have been unable to resolve my issue. I obtained an HTC Touch Diamond (a T-mobile Compact IV) in the UK and am trying to get it working in the US. While in the UK there were no connection issues but as soon as I got to the US the connection is unstable. I have managed to make about 10 calls in the US but they cut out after a short time and most of the time I cannot make a call or cannot connect to a network at all. It can always see Tmobile and AT&T but can rarely connect, and when connected can rarely call. I have flashed the TLR 3.08.07.16 WWE ROM and updated the radio ROM to 1.09.25.23
Any help would be greatly appreciated
from my basic knowledge of radio, uk networks use gsm while most us networks use cdma that mite be your problem!!
try going to start>settings>phone (in the personal tab)> scroll to the band tab and change ur network from auto to wcdma!! you may also have to change the band setting your using, but u may have to check with your network on what frequency they use
Thanks for the suggestion. Thus far I have only been able to connect on GSM, CDMA has never worked. I also have been using the 850 1900 band which I heard is the one used in the US. I have connected occasionally but am still having trouble.
Hello everyone,
I bought a G1 from Rogers in canada, but now I live in germany.
I don't know how it actually works, but I have been unable to get 3G connections here (only GPRS and normal cell phone), using the O2 company. After doing some research I realized that the radio frequencies are different (according to http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=GERMANY, then go to canada to check it out).
Are there any possibilities to change the radio frequencies of UMTS? My phone is rooted.
Thanks a lot!
Dial:
*#*#4636#*#*
Then goto phone info
Scrool down list
Change preffered network to WCDMA only for 3G only
Exit
Edit: O2 doesnt use the same 3G freq as Rogers, so you must stay with EDGE.
if memory serves correctly - o2 and tmobile work on the same frequencies in germany
if this is the case there is nothing you can do as the radio frequency is a hardware thing
Thanks for the reply!
I did that, but after a while it changes back to 'WCDMA preferred'.
I went to the O2 store, and the guy tested the chip with a Palm Pre, and it worked fine.. but with my G1 it didn't, only GPRS.
rogers use different frequencies to most other providers worldwide
rogers, atnt and some south african one use one set for 3G but everyone else uses another
you WILL NOT get 3G on the rogers dream on frequencies not used by rogers

will this work with any phone? Sorry NTT. i have just bought a htc touch 3g but it won't work in the bush. the phone supports HSDPA/WCDMA:
900/2100 MHz and out here we have 850/2100 mhz wcdma.

All I know is that it allows you to force a specific phone freq, im not sure if all HTC phones have test mode which that number brings up. It doesnt allow you to change the freq only force one type. So a quad-band phone can be forced to use 2G only instead of 3G.It doesnt give access to unsupported bands cause thats a hardware thing.
I am discussing this very subject here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15461093&posted=1#post15461093 would appreciate any comments or suggestions.
