Quiet new to this, I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 and I downloaded "RUU_Rhodium_S_HTC_Europe_1.86.401.0_Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.17_Signed_Ship" ROM update. (Win Mobile 6.5)
But when I run it I return with an error saying ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID! Why might this be?
Originally this PDA was on vodafone UK which has been unlocked!

Even though your phone has been unlocked, the installation routines will only let you install Vodafone-specific ROMs. If you HardSPL your phone (see the stickies) then you'll be able to flash whatever ROM you like, an official one or a "cooked" one from this forum.

Having an English Qtek 9100 (WWE) of a friend and wanting to update to the Dutch version of the OS using XDA Developers FTP: "RUU_Prodigy_1030710_110_10410_Qtek_NLD_Ship.exe".
The update process starts and suddenly stops with message: "INVALID VENDER ID - CHECK UPDATE UTILITY".
How do I by-pass this error and get this 9100 into Dutch?

Have you followed these steps:
Enable RAPI
Unlock CID
Backup OS ROM and Extended ROM from device
At last run: RUU_Prodigy_1030710_110_10410_Qtek_NLD_Ship.exe
?

Yes I tried that and I already succeeded.
Never did a Windows Mobile ROM update before and using "aWizard" I managed to do the job.

I downloaded the WM6 rom of HTC Herald from Thai website and tried to upgrade my Dopod C800's rom.But I faced a problem that "error invalid vender id".So I would like to know that how could I fix this problem,please.!!!

I got the same as yours. I'm THAI but working in CHINA so, I bought Dopod S1 (same model as Touch). THe OS is CHN so I also want to change the OS to ENG. After reading some advices in this web, I install the CID unlock and following with the RUU WWE (Dopod asia) and it turns out the "invalid vender ID".
Sill don't know how to do.

Phone type: HTC, dopod, SPV etc..
Current rom version, current spl version, desired rom, steps what you did...

the upgrade was successful... but now i have an other wm5 rom on my P3600 trinity... but it REALLY was the german wm6 rom (gps enabled... there is only one^^) i found it on xda-developers.com

I am trying to upgrade my WinMo 6.1 on TD2 -> WinMo6.5 Stock from HTC
My S/N is HT96PLXXXXX...
HTC website says sorry this upgrade is not for your device, then i picked a random S/N from this website and i downloaded
RUU_Topaz_S_HTC_WWE_2.16.405.4_Radio_Sign_Topaz_61.44tc.25.32_4.49.25.17_Ship
Upon installing it says "ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID"
What do to?
Install HSPL or contact HTC directly.
Contacted HTC, no reply as of yet so i tried the HSPL method and it worked

Well that's half the battle here, congrats...
Make sure you flash up to 2.51 to have the latest compatability.
Now you can flash any Topaz ROM.

to ROM With WM 6.5 which I got from HTC site
but through the operation I got the following message

Did you download the ROM for the correct region?
Otherwise you can just Hard SPL your device then extract the RUU_signed.nbh file from the update application with winrar then flash it from your storage card or use the custom RUU in this forum.

and how i can do it
for a person who doesnt even know what is HSPL, i would suggest to start reading the stickies and searching before posting or doing anything with the device.
