Hey guys,
My market downloads arent working . When i try to download an application it downloads it but doesnt install. And when i go back to that app in the market it just gives me the option of downloading it again. Any ideas?
EDIT: I get a processcom.android.vending forceclose when the download reaches 100%

launch gtalk, let it sign in, then hit home. Then go back to market, click download, and then STAY ON THE MARKET SCREEN until it finishes, then watch it, and make sure it installs. Most likely, you have a lot of background service apps that are in memory all the time. Your phone is running out of memory and killing the Market before it can finish installing. Keeping it open during install will keep Android from killing it.

I tried to do what you said but every time as the download is about to reach 100% I get a Market forceclose. Then I get the notification of "download complete" but when I go back to the Market it's as if I never downloaded it

Yes, I've set it to "Notify me when items are updated".
But even I open market, go to Download page and see some update apps there.
Market still doesn't notify me anything.
After I complete download and install any apps, then it notify me there's update apps.
I assume that market will notify me when any apps I've downloaded have update.
Is this normal ? And if not how can I fix it ?
I use Galaxy S with DXJG4 without any task killer.
Thanks,
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this isn't a Galaxy S problem, it's a google problem. I've gone from G1, to MyTouch, to N1, and to the Vibrant, and they've ALL had that problem.
Sometimes, I wouldn't know I had updates if I didn't go to the market.... then the notification will pop up.

Make sure you allow background data in your Accounts & Sync settings, other than that I can't think of the problem. Sometimes there is a 10-15 sec delay after entering the marketplace for it to notify me of the updates that are available.

Yes, I've checked allow backgroud data.
I just looking in my wife's HTC Hero market and figure that it's about the same.
No notification until you doing something to trigger it, even go to my download page can't make it.
Seem like push notification on Android is still a long long way to go.
touch on setting on download page will allow you to get update on the apps.
I have same firmware as your. It gives me update notification when i am at download page.

If I have to go to download page, why do we need notification for update apps anymore ?
At download page, update apps will be right there on top.

Nope, coming from G1, infact sorta using both at the same time.
Market always notifies me on G1 where as Galaxy S has yet to show a single market notification.
It's always right off the ball to annoy me about Samsung updates when I flash a new FW though.
I wonder why this is the case? Hopefully Froyo will sort out this problem with its auto-update code.
I like using appbrain website to install apps from computer to phone. But the apps don't install on the phone and don't even come up on the list on my phone eventhough I've "synced".
I tried enabling Fast Web Installer, but it brings me to market and tries to download the web installer but it just hangs at "starting to download".
Any ideas?

Fast Web Installer was broken by Android 2.2.1 and I don't think it's coming back.
Perhaps that's the problem?
I just add apps from the website to my list of apps, then when I sync on Appbrain they show up in the top list of things to install.

Well forget Fast Web Installer, disable it. Can you install apps from the market normally?
I have rooted captivate. since yesterday I can't download or update anything from market. It keeps saying 'starting downloads' and happens nothing. Even sometimes it says your item will be downloaded but again happens nothing.
I use black market too. Does it make my 'market' fail now? I don't have a clue...please help me.
Hey try re flashing the rom you have and see if that works, its worked for me before.
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using XDA App

Make sure the Google Talk services are running.
Steps to try:
1) Clear market data, retry downloads.
2) Depending on the rom you are on, Froyo build, you may not have a unique Android ID. If this is the case, download Android ID Changer and change the ID to something other than seen. Next time you flash stock, get your unique Android ID and write it down so you can use in the future.
Good luck.
I didn't get Froyo yet, and I just rooted in order to get the permission of installing apps freely. so I didn't do anything with roms. And I realized that Google talk is not working. I never played that app becuase I'm using kakaotalk. It says signing in...but nothing happens. How can I erase maket data then. I think I should have study more before rooting. How does goolge talk running related to market?

Both the market and Google talk use this service called
Google Talk Service (or something like that)
If you use a program that blocks startup programs make sure both google talk and its service are greenlisted. In addition try to stop using any task killers to see if that is the problem.
And the massage "Sorry! The process com.google.process. gapps has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." comes out from time to time with 'force close' button.
What does it mean?

I think it is tied to GMail sync which is also tied to the Google Talk service I believe.
I uninstalled apps have chances auto killing that process. They are one click lag, auto killer memory, but nothing changed after rebooting. Even the same error message came out as soon as rebooted. The odd thing is that that task is still running when i check with android hackers. How can I control the start up apps?

try using an app called "start up auditor"
Oh my Gosh!! I love XDA developers friends!! Thanks diablo, nbs !! I just found out other thread with same issue and fixed beautifully my captivate.
Here is what I did. I downloaded google talk services apps from here, and copy them to systems/app, and reboot. They are automatically downloading all the accumulated failed downloading after rebooting. I might have deleted some gtalk related apps by mistake. Hooray!!
Thanks all!!

No problem! The same thing happened to me a while back because I accidentally startup audited the service.
i cant seem to make this work for me? but I am having the same problem..
I got message of update for market, I restarted and did market fix and now it won't start up at all. I get "Server error has occurrred. retry or cancel and return to previous screen." I have tried fix 4-5 times with no success. Do I need to uninstall market and re install it some how?
I had that too. What I did was do the market fix. Make sure you go to market and see the error notification after you do the clear data. Restart Gtab. Wait for a few minutes for wireless connection to start up, then go to market. If that does not work, just restart your gtab again, without doing the market fix, and wait for a few minutes then go to market.
Hope this help!
no go
I have tried the market fix at least 5 times and it still gives me the error. I notice now that there is no data to clear in applications/market, it just shows gray. I also noticed on my PC, in market my Google account shows I don't have any devices now..... Am I going to have to reinstall my entire ROM? I hope not as I have my tab running just right, other than the market!
Any ideas?
Back up your apps with TitaniumBackup, do a fresh rom rebuild, and use TitaniumBackup to restore your apps.
Do the market fix but instead of clearing the cache in the market clear the data. After you reboot, run the market app, accepted license agreement. At this point you should have the limited market. Now just do the normal market fix to bring back the full market. Can't make any promises but it worked for me.
Working again
I guess Google was jacked up yesterday, because tonight I was able to open market and accept license agreement and then run market fix again.... Wierd
Thanks to those who responded to my thread!
I am having an issue/annoyance with updating apps through the new google play apk; it seems that since updating to the new apk, my apps no longer update simultaneously. Previously on the original android market, I could have multiple apps downloading/updating at the same time with no problem, however now that I have gone to Google Play, they will only download/update one at a time. Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks
You may want to try going to settings - applications, then looking for the Play Store app. Open its listing, and choose "clear data". Then go back and open the store again. It should correct itself and allow multi-updating.
r u into gruppen kex? Why do u need to simultaneously download apps? Give that single core CPU a rest!

In that same place, try uninstalling updates and letting google play pick up the updates again. That may help.
