I have a couple of question regarding my HTC Diamond touch.
I bought this when I stayed in US. It is an unlocked phone and I have also done the normal rom upgrades from HTC. Not the one from january since I am not able to download it yet.
I want to changes the lay-out of my keyboard to support norwegian character set. How can I do this ?
I am consider to download and install rom upgrade for Norway to get my windows in norwegian. Is there any step by step instruction ?
Thank you all for your kind answer.
Tony
It's definitely best to flash it with a norwegian rom.
All flashing infos can be found up in wiki ?
Here's the HTC Diamond section
Hope that helps.
Hi there,
i searched here in the forum but most of the threads i found for my problem didnt really answer my questions or they where not specific enough.
I got a X1 (bought it in Germany), i want to change the OS language to chinese. I want to give this phone to a chinese friend of mine.
Most important would be:
1. Change the GUI in Chinese
2. Chinese input methods (reading/writing)
3. Stable and fast would be nice^^
Actually i want to change the whole phone like its a x1 bought in China
What i understood is that the Hong Kong x1's comes with integrated CE-Star and a chinese GUI.That sounds as the easiest approach to my goal.
Anyway, what would be the simplest way to get this done?
As i am pretty new to all this..please dont bomb me with too much technical stuff. A brief description or a FAQ or something else would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help and patience.

Look in the ROM section and flash a Chinese (CHT?) rom, like Jack's?
I think (looking at the way you ask the question), you haven't flashed a rom before. I recommend to read the sticky's in the rom section first, so you know what to do. In short:
1. HardSPL (if you don't know what that is, read this)
2. Flash ROM via windows (X1_customRUU), or SD card method
I wil check it out. I shlould be able to do that.
I mean i checked some other threads, but i had no idea where to start.^^
Thx for starters and a fast answer...

For the Chinese rom, I recommend hylu's WM6.5 because it is stable and include Chinese input method like Zhuyin and Changjie
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501949
About the CE star, X1 selling CHT and ENG version in Hong Kong. The ENG version will include CE star(seem with reg key) but CHT version will not include.
If you flash English rom, you can also install some plug-in then your English rom can display Chinese word and typing Chinese by using Zhuyin and Changjie
Here is the Chinese plug-in
http://www.studiokuma.com/wm/?section=support
Are your friends using simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese?
Hope I can help you.
If you want stock rom, check the rom section for CHS (simplified Chinese) or CHT (Traditional Chinese).
For custom CHT rom, I heard hylu's is quite good. For custom CHS rom, you may want to take a look at it168.
Mine is just English w/ CE start built in.

Hi there
so i managed to Hard-Spl my phone. I am having a tough time now...i dont know which rom i should use.
Preferably a CHS rom. So i am thinking i should either hylu´s or jackleung´s.
What do you guys think? I am really not sure what features are good or not. There are some where i dont even understand what this features might bring ^^
Anyway, the phone has not to be super highly customizable. Anyway, all i want in the end is a phone running in all chinese (simplified) and some nice features and some customization...
I hope you can help me make my choice. Thx in advance

Hello,
I live in Korea and have purchased Xperia X1 which is made for the local market (WCDMA, provider: SK Telecom). I know that smartphones' ROM consists of 2 parts: Radio ROM and PDA ROM. As I want to change the Korean version of WM to English or Russian, would it be possible to flash only the PDA part of the ROM (where WM is installed) without flashing the Radio part?
Thank you,
Alexey
Custom Roms don't touch the radio in any way...
Different story for stock roms, at least mine, also included the stock radio.
Just go on and start flashing your X1.
regards
You can use any English X1 custom ROM here.
However one thing. With the English ROM, you will have the problem for using SMS/MMS. SKTelecom use their own SMS/MMS system so you need to follow step:
1. replace rilphone.dll and HTC_SMS_Providers.dll from Korean ROM.
2. Using SKTelecom MMSC(SMS/MMS client program) or
install custom sms_provider.dll which is developed by Korean user to use MS-SMS function(it did not support MMS function, if you want MMS you still need to install SKT-MMSC)
Thanks,
I guess, the easiest way for you to find an answer and tutorial of how to get an English rom working in Korea, is to check out the "BJCAFE" on Naver. It's identical to XDA, but it only consists Korean people. However, those guys are doing a great job!
Dunno if it's allowed but here you go with the link:
http://cafe.naver.com/bjphone.cafe
You need to register on Naver, else you won't be reg for the forum.

http://cafe.naver.com/bjphone.cafe is 'Closed Membership Cafe' so you need to join www.naver.com portal service first, and then join that community also.
I have 2 cab files and 1 provxml file to set SKT service on English ROM. If someone provide the space, I will upload those file set and write instruction.
File size are... 34MB for several files.
------------------
1.Korean Locale Support.cab (12MB) : Korean NLS, Fonts, KeyPad... etc.
I am not sure you may don't need this file if you won't use Korean.
2.Xperia OEM(R2BA) Addins.cab (1.2MB): rilphone.dll, sms_providers.dll and SKT DRM files
2.Xperia OEM(R3BA) Addins.cab (1.2MB): Choose just one, one for R2BA, another one for R3BA
* Manila 2.1/2.5 is more compatible with R2BA but, R3BA SMS client can handle network SMS.
3.mxip_oemoperator_main.provxml : SKT operator setting provxml file.
4.Hanulis_MSSMS_B7.CAB (43KB) : Work with R2BA OEM
4.Hanulis_MSSMS_V1_RC1_Fix1.cab (41KB) : Work with R3BA OEM, Choose one.
SKT_MMS_Client(R2BA)_1_9_20090225_0.CAB (8MB)
SKT_MMS_Client(R3BA)_1_00_20090508_1140_Revise_0.CAB (8MB) : Choose one.
Thx,
I used to htc diamond this error, I can use these 2 files to fix bugs, give me.thank you
i try to use the differet rom on my pro 2, beacuse the offical rom is so slow
i hear some method can display chinese and input on the english rom, how can i do or found the information??
help me please~
i have used cd star to input and view chinese (apparently once you install the software, it installs the font so you can read chinese). I used it on WinMo 6.1 and have not yet install in my tilt 2 yet (but will do it soon) so I presume it will work without any issue.

use the font from Hong Kong official ROM.
It supports CHT almost perfectly. but remember you have to change your regional settings to Chinese(Taiwan) or Chinese(Hong Kong).
E-Mail me if you want a cab.
For the Chinese input, tell us which IME you use.
anyway
its same
安装那个我提到的雅黑字体
那个支持繁体显示
只要能支持繁体输出显示之后
繁体输入的话,随便安装你喜欢的繁体输入法即可.
in this , http://ricky119.com/chinesesupport/ ,you can find many useful resources , Chinese(Asia Language) support for Non-Chinese ROM
of course it support both CHT and CHS
final jzhyok give me a method to slove problem , it is good method!!!!!
thanks so much all of you!!!!!!^^
This is what I always use....very small and works really well (it adds support for Japanese and Korean characters as well)

I dont really need the input method so I just use the Droid.cab only. You can try them out
thank you
I got my Tilt 2 today. i am still learning how to install the softwares on my cell phone. thank you guys for your advices on this forum.
Is is possible to extract the Chinese Font and input method from the Official HKCSL_WWE ROM? (CSL is a phone company in Hong Kong)
I am using the Offcial HKCSL_WWE ROM on my Pure now but I would like to use some nicely customize ROM find here.
The only only problem is I need Chinese. I wish I can put the Chinese font and input method to some cooked ROM.
Thank you for any reply,
From my experience with it so far, not really. The input has not been successfully installed on top of any of the existing cooked roms.
You will have to cook your own rom using HK CSL CHT input. I have not seen any of the cooked roms on here providing the CHT input.
yup...probably like what you said..

These are the cabs I use to get Chinese display on my Topaz. Seems to work fine with the new manila. First, I install the font cab, then without rebooting, install the NLS cab. Then reboot. Sometimes it takes 2 reboots to get working, but so far so good. These cabs only provide support for viewing Chinese, not typing it. You'll need to find something else for that. There are several input methods floating around on xda if u look.
Good Luck
i use ricky 6.5 chinese cab too. [tho i edit the cab and put another font in it, cuz the one ricky had was bold and i didnt want bold ^^;]
heres the procedure i use everytime i flashed a custom [energy] rom::
1. install TF3D2.Chinese.Taiwan_20090917_xmatrix.cab [by xkaiser] to convert most words to chinese. no need to reboot after install. n u will notice most things r displayed as squares now [install this if you want your manila to display in chinese, proceed to #2 if installed, if not installed, no need to do step 2]
2. IMPORTANT copy the files in smsfix.zip to \Windows root folder [this is because the language pack deleted the sms notification files, so if you dont add these files back, you will not receive any sound or vibrate when a new message comes in]
3. install RickyMSYH6.0Full__.cab follow the installation and soft reset when it asks to reset
4. install HTC Rhodium A4 IME V2.8 WVGA.cab [this is a chinese input that im currently using, it was designed for a touchpro2, so the keyboard is pretty much alike as the one we are using. tho... this one doesnt have handwritten input :[ ] this software is in simplifed chinese, but it works fine with typing traditional and hong kong characters
i dont know if installing these cabs will have any side affects though, i have no problem with it. been using them for awhile now, and they work with all the energy roms ive flashed [including the latest topaz 2011 build]
do it on your own risk :]
i zipped and uploaded the files i used

Thank you both. I wonder if the file(s) provided will work on the latest/newest Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.2011.30300) with Leo 2.54? Because the Ricky's MSYahei6 no longer work. In the meantime I do not need chinese input, only need the chinese display/support.

What everyone is saying is that even if you successfully extract the files, you couldn't install them into a cooked ROM. You would need to create your own ROM and add the chinese input when you cook it. I have tried some cabs in XDA that claim to let you use the htc chinese input and fonts, but they never worked for me. In fact they totally screwed up my phone and I had to hard reset.
That being said, you could (potentially) dump the rom you are using, then import it into a kitchen and cook your own custom ROM. There are lots of cooking tutorials on this site if you look around, but be prepared to invest considerable time and energy into the learning process. And to be honest, I think the other viewing and input methods listed in this thread are superior.
Just my 2 cents.

The display problem is very easy to fix. There are many fonts out there that work on Manila. If that's what is being looked for, I think some solutions have already been posted in this thread.
However, if you're trying to get the original HK CSL HTC CHT IME installed, then I am not aware of any solutions yet.

Seems to be working fine so far. Better backup before you try it though. I have heard it cant be uninstalled very easily.
