Locked out of g1 perminantly - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before anything is said A) I HAVE used the search function, but was not going to bring a thread back from the dead. and B) I am not sure if this is the right section (I am asking a question) or should it go in general.
On that note, I have the same problem apparently a lot of people have. I used the pattern lock, it was entered wrong too many times, and now it is asking for my username and password. No matter how many times I put it in, it does not work. I tried [email protected] @gmail.com etc. I logged in via the computer gmail and changed the password, still no luck.
I have way too many apps, settings, and files to want to just hard reset. I find it extremely hard to believe the ONLY solution to faulty coding is a hard reset. It is very easy for someone who does not have this problem to just say 'hard reset' or 'the time it took you to write this you could hard reset.'
There is way more to it than that and you know it. Customization and everything. Grocery lists and such written up, notes, etc.
After the amount of people that have this issue, Google has YET to fix this issue with the phones? I cant find anywhere to actually contact google themselves to ask about this issue without being sent to a 'support forum.' It clearly is faulty coding that the logging in does not work. Do they read these forums?
The answer to bad programming to a smartphone should never just be do a reset, that is the worst solution ever (it is equally as bad as geeksquad or any other telling you you have 1 virus, we must format your entire hard drive).
Unless I missed over something, is there a solution to this yet? I hope so.. I do not want to hard reset.

The creator of xkcd had this problem, he used this
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3006#c28

Thank you so much!!!! IT WORKED. You don't know (or maybe you do) how many headaches you just saved me.
This is awesome. I hope the other people that had this issue found this solution. I will post it in a new post, maybe it can be stickied if people continue to have this issue.

So, in summary, to fix this without wiping your phone, you:
1. Get someone to call you.
2. After answering, flip the screen open and shut repeatedly, tapping the “home” button every few flips. Eventually you’ll drop through to your home screen. This may take a few tries.
3. Go into your security settings and disable the unlock pattern. You can now bypass the lockout just by opening the keyboard.
4. Change the password on your account, which may be your Google Apps account if you have one.
5. In a few moments, your phone will fail to sync with email and prompt you for a password. Enter the new password.
6. You can now log in with the new password. Lock your screen, press menu to try unlocking it, and enter your new information. This should unlock your phone.

Kaiser Prompts For Password

Hi,
Every now and then i'll wake up in the morning with my Tytn II II prompting me to enter a password, i've tried entering everything and checked all security features and made sure the "prompt for password when not used" has not been selected but nothing works, my only choice is to reset the device.
My main problem is the alarm clock does not work when it enters this mode which means I have to set another alarm clock just incase the phone enters the "enter password" mode over night.
I've hard reset the device but still this doesn't help.
Any suggestions?
I also have this crazy problem. Every now and again every 1-2 days I'll switch on my phone and be prompted for a password. I've never set any and the only answer is to soft reset and then all is fine until it happens again. The only other notable thing is that after about 5 failed guesses is tells me to input a1b2c3. Has anyone any idea what's going on - it's driving me nuts!!!
(ps I've tried zenyee but still no joy)
Wow, that would be annoying. Sorry, no help here as I use a password after one of my former devices "mistepeared"
Along these lines, I get prompted for my password everytime I connect to my Vista machine at home. I have yet to find a way to turn this off either. good thing it isn't my work machine as it would drive me crazy. At least le me enter the password on the main computer's keyboard instead of forcing me to open up my phone and type it in...

That is well weird.. Someone gets the same thing with an HP iPaq here: http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service...47626+1201639304018+28353475&threadId=1190832
Unfortunatly theres no solution offered there either..
edit: I just had a play round after reading something and I think its something to do with the encryption for the SD card.. are either of you using it? If not are you synced to a work exchange server? Remote Device Wipe uses this code as well by the looks of it.. Have a read of this: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile...ows-mobile-6-storage-card-encryption-faq.aspx
The comments are where it mentions that code but the whole thing is worth a read.. theres also a document linked that tells you about device wipe if you havent heard of it.. I suspect this is related to your problem (in fact im sure it is)

Small problem

Hi,
I have tried several ROMs, all of them work just fine until (after a period of time that may range from hours to days) and when I soft-reset my device, it acts like if I hard-reset it; goes through the setup, contacts gone.. etc. Anybody?
I do flash ROMs following the the steps in the related threads.
I've tried to search threads for anything like this, but I couldn't find any. (I hope I didn't miss any post, I know how annoying it would be for more to ask for something that was asked before).
Ah, and this is my first post! I'd like to thank all the devs for their outstanding work.
Thanks.
How do you reset the device from the back of the phone or from the software.
If you do it from the back of the phone, it should only do a saft reset not eraase anything.
If you do it using software on the phone, It maybe written to do a hard reset, I advise to check with the maker of the software or ROM what type of reset it is suppose to do.

Reactivation Lock Help Needed - Can't Turn Off

I have an SM-G925A.
Purchased second hand from a seller I know.
Had his Samsung account on it and Reactivation Lock was turned on. We put phone on Wifi and tried to turn off Reactivation Lock. Just loops back to same screen and remains turned on.
Correct Password and Email as we were able to hard reset phone and at the Reactivation Lock screen during setup, it was accepted and we continued through to set up phone.
Still Reactivation Lock won't turn off, just loops back to same screen.
So we decided to delete Samsung account from phone.. Email and Password accepted, Samsung account deleted.
Thought we were good. Nope.
Now Reactivation Lock is on, grayed out and we cannot add back the Samsung account. Press on Add Samsung account and nothing happens.
Also cannot do Factory Reset from within Setting. Just press Reset Device and nothing happens.
Can't try flashing stock Rom as it's on AOF4 and no Rom to be found online.
There is no OEM Unlocking option in Delevoper Options either so can't try that.
I know I have seen other users with different S6 devices with similar problems after spending time searching on here.
Has anyone found a solution?
You wont be able to remove it unless you have the original info and I mean the one before the person that sold it to you. He just gave you the info to bypass it but not to remove it completely as the legit information it is encrypted within the bootloader and it must match with the info that you input to remove it 100%.
If you have the account info try this
http://androiding.how/unable-to-disable-reactivation-lock-on-galaxy-s6-try-this-fail-safe-trick/
Let me know if it workd
can somebody please help me. i can't turn off the reactivation lock of my samsung galaxy a5. i tried already the method that will delete the prevoius account and then will make a new one. but it didn't work. can anyone help me?. thanks in advance.
Resurecting an old thread and XDA doesnt seem very active these days but
I would love to know how to get around this. I have the wifes old phone and I decided to factory reset it.
The device was listed under FindmyMobile and had my samsung account listed during the factory reset it just refused my password to the point where I reset my password but it still gave a "processing error" every time I put it in so I did the hard reset completely ignorant of the RAL.
Now I have a device that still wont let me pass the samsung username and password part of setup.
Spent days reading useless posts and watching the same regurgitated youtube videos all with titles that inspire confidence only to find idiots that have no idea how to get around it I mean one said its a faulty power button!!!
I did find a post on here but I need to be on android 5.11, ive got down to 6 but 5.1 wont go on!
Samsung were unhelpful they told me what I had done and how to get around it, enter the username and password, they said if I can remember these details I will have to take the device to a repair shop and they can sort it, so there is a way, but during this lock down im not going anywhere!
Like I said the samsung account on the phone was mine and the device was visible in findmymobile is it possible this is a samsung issue and not a me issue?
The phones an old S6 SM-G920F and I wouldn't bother but its had a new batter and a new screen so ive invested some time and money into it, I dont want to just junk it now!
Anyway, if there is anyone on XDA anymore and you are reading this and you do have a method to solve this please reply.
If you know how I can get 5.1 on the device that might be useful too as there are methods listed in here for 5.1 but I cant apply.
Oh I found a method on applying 5.1 but im guessing its for a computer science grad as it was full of unexplained acronyms, that to a general MS Server engineer like myself, meant absolutely nothing!

Question i just changed my pattern lock on my s21 ultra and forgot it. help please!

omg.
my friend just seen my pattern when i unlocked my phone so i decided to change my pattern (it had been a real long time since i changed it anyway) so i did it.
i cant remember what i changed it to.
i actually changed it 2x but the first pattern i thought was too easy so i changed it again.
i didnt make it any harder as in more dots to complete the pattern but hard enough i dont remember it.
im on a s21 ultra of course.
is there a limit on how many failed attempts i can do?
so far i think im under 10 but it does make me wait 30secs alot.
if there is an unlimited amount i think i will guess it but if there is a finite i dont want to mess it up and do a factory reset or erase.
i have alot of my grandbabies pics and videos on there.
if there is a way to bypass it please tell me.
i know my google acct on computer etc... thats not a problem and that is the same acct on my phone.

i not sure. i think i might have but i think i deleted it but it keeps asking me to same my passwords to samsung and i keep hitting never.
unless you have an unlocked bootloader I don't know that there's anything that can be done. I would just get them all wrong at this point and see if it let's you reset it with a good account. If you BL is unlocked you could boot into a custom recovery and wipe the security file.

Can only be done if you have find my device enabled and have an active internet connection in the phone tho
Step 1. Open the internet browser on your notebook and input the following website
address: https://findmymobile.samsung.com, click on the Sign in button and input your login credentials of your Samsung account, then click on Sign in button once more.
image to login to find my mobile web page
Step 2. The mobile device registered under your Samsung account will appear on the right-side of the screen. If you have multiple devices registered under the same Samsung account, make sure you select the device that needs to be remotely unlocked. Refer to the image below and click on the Unlock icon to unlock your device.
image after login to find my mobile web page
Step 3. Once you click on Unlock, a pop-up window will appear asking to verify the password of your Samsung account. After you input your password, click on the NEXT button, the pop-up window will automatically close and another pop-up window will appear with the result of remotely unlocking your device

Well, at this point you probably need to reset the phone, as you didn't link your Samsung account.
There actually isn't any way to recover the data Unless you can guess the pattern again.
I don't know if Samsung themselves would unlock the phone if you took it to the support center providing proof that you own the phone, but that could get your data back idk
In my opinion it is worth a try in this case

Depends if you had that option enabled in settings, by default it is disabled

Probably 3 then a waiting time, but it's probably more easier to take it to Samsung and get them to unlock it for you, since you own the phone they can do it.

i live in the country. i dont think there is a samsung store even in my state. im in iowa in usa
Samsung can't unlock it... pretty sure.
Once you set a lock screen the security is very good, too good. Sleep on it to see if the pattern comes to you... you still remember it.
That failing, suck it up. It may have not been your fault at all, see below.
I never set a screen lock, 2x tap on/off.
Never set a a bios password.
And most importantly never encrypt data backup hdds, etc.
You are the one most likely to get locked out... lesson learned the hard way.
A firmware failure, or external forces beyond your control (high energy particles of cosmic origin can do it*) can put you in a no win situation once you set an eccess password. While if you hadn't you likely wouldn't be locked out. I had a laptop bios lock me out, the password was simple a simple "S" even years latter I remember it... but the bios doesn't!
*this isn't a joke. Flying or being at higher elevations increases the risk. While it is slight when under the protection of the ionosphere it's still a random failure factor. One high energy particle can change the value of a flash memory cell without damaging it. The data however is corrupted unless redundantly backup which is one reason why spacecraft use at least 3 redundant computers.

Even if u hard reset, u will be asked to input your Samsung account and password, anf even with out knowing the pattern you have the option of putting in your PIN.
If you don't know your own PIN code then, something Is wrong!
