If you're having problems with virtual xp/Win7 combo.... - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I have had a bastard of a time trying to flash in windows 7 with virtual xp. It just kept giving me errors everytime I would try to flash any rom. I'm going with hornet right now though after the fix. Anyway, I noticed that under the 'USB' tab in the virtual XP window that it was listed as 'generic rndis' and would let me attach it or release it. So I tried manually booting my phone while unplugged this time using the camera button and comm button (both buttons on camera side of phone at once) and then press reset button while holding other two and then let go. It should boot into 3 color bootloader while still unplugged and then plug it in. After that, go to the 'USB' tab in your virtual XP window and it should show up as unknown or unspecified device this time instead of generic rndis. Attach the device if it says it's unknown/unidentied and then it should actually finally flash for once in a lifetime. I hope this helps b/c absolutely nothing but running xp on another drive would work for my 8125.
EDIT! I almost forgot, you probably have to delete your partnership with the phone under windows 7 mobile device center too. I did it that way so it might be necessary.

[Solved]Still no Brick!!!

Hi People
I think I have really bricked my Diamond for sure. I have read all the threads related to this problem and have tried all the possible fixes but to no avail.
Here is the problem: It is stuck on the first screen after tri colour screen showing the RGD info in red ink at the bottom right cornor. Pc wont recognize it and Active Sync 4.5 on xp is grey, not green.
I have done a few Hard resets and Soft resets. I have Olinex Hard Spl installed. Had Dutty's 1.6 working perfectly when decided to cook my own with Surface Kitchen. My first cooked rom worked fine and then I cooked another one with same base Stock rom , adding som programs and bam, this thing happened.
Please Help Help and yes I had flashed the same Diamond with every available cooked rom with no problem.
Thanks in advance. Lets not Die this beautiful Jewel.
Anyone please?

Can you get it into bootloader mode??? If so, you should be fine to re-flash at that point.
I can get it to tri colour screen but it wont sync with pc ...?

So after getting to the tri-color screen and then plugging in the USB cable, you do not get "USB" at the bottom of the screen?????
Thanks for the quick reply..
Ok here is what I am doing. I perform the hard reset. Get the tri colour screen for couple of seconds and then it comes to the screen where it asks to press Volup to restore. I did it with the usb connected and usb disconnected but it wont sync. Active sync icon at the bottom on pc stays grey not green.
Pressing Volup on diamond restores, reboots and brings it back to 1st splash screen with RGD info at the bottom in red ink. aaaaah
When you are in bootscreen, connect via usb.
In the bottom off your screen you should see "usb"!
If this is what you see then flash one of the stock roms again.
After you've done this, your Diamond restarts and everything should be OK again!
Good luck!
Ok, do this:
1. Unplug the USB cable from the phone.
2. Hold down the Volume-down key and the Power button, then press (and let go of) the RESET button with your stylus.
3. When the tri-color screen appears, you can let go of the buttons.
4. The screen should say "Serial" at the bottom (in the gray color area).
5. Plug in the USB cable (The screen should change to "USB").
6. Run the RUU app to re-flash the phone.
That should get you back up and running.
To enter bootloader, turn phone off then press volume down and reset simultaneously and then power ono. If you have done this correctly it will remain there and the word "serial" appears at the bottom. Then plug in USB and the word changes to "USB" you can now flash ROM
When I flashed mine it also got stuck te first time because Windows found it necessary to install new USB driver when the Flash util wanted to connect to the HTC. The flash program jumped out leaving the diamond with the RGB screen...
But, after windows installed the new USB driver, I restarted the flash program and it finished just fine.
So if you cannot connect anymore I would try to find out if the USB driver has changed. Did you try connecting to another USB port?
Otherwise I would try to connect to another PC...
Hope it helps,
Beamer
fingers crossed
hope you unbricked it m8

Be sure to come back and update the thread if you were successful. It may help others later if they search instead of starting another thread with a similar problem.
Holy smokes......
Its breathing again. Thank you TomInMB and Windoze9t8. Give yourselves a kiss for helping me out.
I used Windoze9t8's method and it came to the serial screen and then I flashed it with Dutty's.
So I was using hard reset method to get to bootloader screen, which was wrong.
So for everyone else, its Voldown and reset button at the same time for Bootloader screen.
Flashing is done and Active Sync recognized the Diamond.
Thanks again for everyone..... and I am sure that a few of us learnt the new trick from this thread.....
Glad to hear you're all set!!!! I sure would hate to have the feeling that my precious diamond was useless!!!!
Thats right , I already lost a lots of sleep trying to fix it last night..

SnapVUE Side of my Shift goes dark after a while...

Hi Folks,
I finished upgrading my Shift's ROM all the way some time ago (GPS, Phone, +++) and it al works just fine.
I'm not even sure if I have a real "problem" here, but I noticed that after about an hours the SnapVUE side of my Shift just goes dark and I have to issue a "reset" command from the Windows side to get back in.
At this point I'm not even sure if this is some sort of "suspend" mode or a real shutdown.
All I'd like to know is how to get back in (or if it is a suspend mode, how to turn it off), w/o having to start up Windoze first, just to trigger a reset via the cmd line.
You should set up the device to not go to sleep after x minutes. This is in the power settings.

Not sure what happened, but after I had to reset the whole device a few times for unrelated reasons, the problem just went away...
In any case, where do I specify the sleep time for the SnapVUE side of things?
Same as in all WinMo devices... settings>system>power>advanced
OR use file explorer to open "powerexe" in the device's Windows folder (needed if you use Thaihugo's Age of Beauty ROM as the Power option isn't in the system folder in this rom, presumably to save valuable space)

[Q] Help needed in strange thing at GT-P7300

Hello for Everyone!
I've a SAM Galaxy TAB 8.9 (GT-P7300) branded for T-Mobile (TMH). There are few of strange things about it.
The first: can not communicate with my PC and with my laptop. On PC runs WIN7 x86, on laptop I use Ubuntu 10.4 (Studio). I had installed the USB drivers for WIN, and the only thing is happened after plugging the USB-cable WIN wrote: "Can't identifying the plugged in Android device". The Ubuntu doesn't recognize my tablet
The second: I can not reach the Bootloader mode, download mode. When I push the VOL down at same time with the POWER ON nothing happens.:crying:
The third: after some minutes of sleeping mode of the device (for example: charging, not using) it POWER OFF. Or...something like this...blank black display and nothing happens if I push any of the buttons. Pushing about 20 secs of POWER ON button resulting a reboot.
The device is in stock 3.2 .
Any ideas what can I do for rooting process nad for custom ROM?

On your second point, to reach bootloader, turn on tab, wait until the moment the samsung logo pops up, then press volume down (the one closer to power button).
To root, add custom recovery and ROM, read the stickies in the android development forum. These may help your other problems. There are several reasons why your computers fail to recognize your tab. I would try different usb ports and cords if you can. I would install kies on the windows pc and see if that recognizes the tab. If none of that works, it may be a hardware problem.

Thanx for your quick reply. There are few cganges about the problems. Here they are:
The second problem about the bootloader and download mode is off. I picked parts of the device and there was a liitle problem with the VOL buttons...repaired and everything is fine with it.
The first problem about the communication is half-solved. On SAMSUNG laptop without (!!!) any drivers works fine the device. Flashed with a "stock" 4.0.4 (Checz) no boot, just splashed on the SAMSUNG logo. After ODIN-flashed one-file other ROM it was very nice...everything goes.
But the third problem is here after the good-flashing, too. In sleep mode or long not-usage periods it is something like POWER OFF.... During the picking to parts period some of the pieces (battery, flexes) were supervised...everything is normal. I think the device's main panel is wrong, but I don't know how I could look at it and fix it.

Blue screen occurs(on my laptop) when i tries to put my phone in to sw upgrade mode

I was following the tutorial
Then when i tries to put my phone in to SW upgrade mode
(by taking battery out, press vol and usb connect)
After my phone showing SW upgrade mode, my laptop just gets Windows 8 blue screen and restarts...
Anyone know why this would be?
Are you in cm? Maybe.
Reinstall your phone drivers in Windows ->Reinsert battery in phone (keep battery inserted during S/W mode and flashing) -> Try S/W mode.
i had this problem too. happened always for me when the pc tried to install the drivers.
But after the restart i could connect the phone with the pc. Its quiet strange

please give some more details
windoze usually gives you an error code and a small (but mostly also useless ) description of the problem.
my idea would be that the phone sucks too much power from your usb port, and this makes win crash...
maybe try to insert the battery before connecting the usb cable

It's stock rom with nothing on it... must be problem with my computer
Just did it with my friends and worked fine...
strange...
Looks like 'Driver Signature Enforcement' is not disabled in your Windows 8. Follow the steps to disable:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘Change PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
While restarting press '7' to disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
Now try again upgrading as usual.
I had the same problem with my Windows 8 laptop so I upgraded my phone on friend's Windows 7 laptop, later I learned about this feature of Windows 8 somewhere on the net. I have not tried it with my phone as I had already done on my friend''s laptop, but I guess it works. Though this way I could install NVflash drivers on my Windows 8 laptop which is impossible otherwise. Have a try or just do it on Windows 7 its hassle free there.

Are you using an USB 3 port? If so, try using an USB 2 port, I had a similar problem when I tried to update my phone under Windows 8 using usb 3, when I tried with usb 2 everything went fine.
For some reason the phone has a power surge when going into cm's battery charging screen,
it has also happened to me, had problems on the desktop not on the laptop so as said above it probably depends on the usb port
Btw i managed to get into sw mode without removing the battery (which proved useless) by simply holding vol- and power untl it turns on
(not vibration, then it's to late, just as soon as the screen flashes the 1st time to turn on)

How can I repair booting my Touchpad

Hello,
i need your help to get my HP Touchpad alive. I tried a lot of the tipps around but no one with success.
My problem starts since i tryed to delete the personal settings and restore to factory setting.
Now the Touchpad is only recogniced as H:/ in Windows 7 (USB) and when i go to Device Manager it's a Palm Device Module.
I can switch to Usb-mode (Power +Loudness) and it's possible to connect with Novaterm.
The WebOSDoctor runs only at 4% and stops then without rebooting.
When i start the Pad, there comes a structured screen with a cloudy blue sky and a grey, round button rotating endless. Thats it.
When i connect the Pad to an Ubuntu-Notebook, it's different, because i see the complete structure (apps. pictures, etc).
How can i repair the boot-loop? I also tried the new Touchpad-Program, it starts but i get no menue to decide.
Thanks for any help!
