I recently installed an app called Moon Phase, and promptly decided it was useless to me. So as usual I uninstalled it. Unfortunately it still appears in the Market as an installed app (even after rebooting). I would have tried to install and uninstall it again, but the buttons in the app's page in the Market are greyed out. How do I go about removing the app from my download list in the Market?

Easiest way is to find the apk online somewhere, install using astro or apps installer/whatever and then going to market downloads section then uninstalling the program again from there.
The hard way is forcing the market database to rebuild itself.

Only do this if it is a free app, do NOT pirate (or support piraters)

Or, a wipe.
Tried various market database fixes myself but eventually had to just find the .apk somewhere else, install with Astro then remove with Market.
The app in question is definitely a free app (this one). I will e-mail the developer to see if he can send me the APK. Thanks for the info guys!

Not sure if anyone posted this, but I thought I saw someone mention the lack of apps in marketplace under top paid/top free, etc.
I noticed that when you switch to landscape, marketplace will then load the rest of the apps under each category (continuously, as you keep scrolling). Probably old news, but figured I'd throw that out in case there are others out there that were confused like me, considering it was my first time ever using droid marketplace
new market
The old market will only display 10 apps and 1 app need to be off the screen to enable scrolling.
Download the new market from the post below. copy it to your SD card and use Astro file explorer to install it. The new market is made for tablets and you will not need to switch to landscape to scroll to more apps.

Think I figured it out, just copy paste, dont install
Open astro. Click menu. Click more. Click preferences. Check the box next to browser downloads.
Try again.

Or he could just follow the instructions on the linkied thread...
Still doesn't work, the new one that is. It just crashes when I try and open it. How do I go about reinstalling the old market? It says something about no certificates when I try and reinstall it. Thanks
There are instructions in a thread in the Themes and Apps section.
It involves using adb but it's really no biggie.
My Cappy is rooted running Cognitive 4.1. I applied the SGS tool fix to Market and I have app that I outside the market (sideloaded, applanet, browser, etc. etc).
1) Market may update the app if they see it. What if they not? Read elsewhere that there is an app for that, but don't want to add another up to keep market working
2) Market will not update keys of sideloaded apps, is there a remedy for that?
3) I applied sgs fix to the market, how I know that I am seeing all the market now?
Thanks
use the program "MCleaner" from the market. it works for FREE apps only, there is NO WAY to add PAID apps to the market list if you sideloaded them.

Updated google maps via the market, now google navigation is no longer installed. How can I get this back?
I believe the latest Google Maps (just updated myself as well) have navigation built-in so no need for a separate app.

I got it back. The 'Navigation' shortcut doesn't show in the app drawer until you launch navigation via the blue triangle from within maps. Now the 'navigation' shortcut is back in the app drawer.

I did. It does not go through. It gives me an error like this: The signed application is not correct. Also, it just happens to the google map update, not anything else.
Try uninstalling maps then re-installing.

How can you uninstall "maps". I went to setting and apps, and it just says disable. There is not "uninstall".

That means it thinks it is a system app, rather than an installed app. It is installed to /system/apps. I think on Mirage, that mr666 puts them there. Use a root file manager and go into /system/apps, and rename to .bak on the end. Then reboot. It should be gone from your system. You are then free to install from the market if it will allow you to.

Thanks for that, It seems it works. I did not know it can be deleted on system/app folder.
Anyone else noticing that since getting the new market, multiple apps on the Nook Color won't update? They just show open, and I presume would not let you install them at all?
The new Windows Phone 7 clone market seems to show apps even if you can't install them, so sounds like that's what's going on but can't figure out why.
Waze, Facebook, Wifi Analyzer.. I think I saw another one too.
Solution is found, although still a tad quirky. You must have the new market and follow this procedure:
skwalas said:
Ah hah! You are correct. Clearing market data at 161 caused me to lose my apps again. So it seems the full process is as follows: (and note I've never force closed the app, not sure why that should be necessary.
1) set dpi to 160 in build.prop
2) reboot
3) clear market app data (force close first may help?)
4) restart market, accept terms, let it rebuild data at 160 dpi
5) profit

And another procedure, similar, with a few extra steps.

Was able to update 12 apps that didnt have update icons since i downloaded new market app.
I just did that, so i will post back if it has problems and or stops working in the future

If you update your CM7 or otherwise go back to 161 DPI, the market will eventually stop letting you update again. You can redo the procedure above to fix it. And if you you find your Apps list is empty you can try using AppBrain, it will list updates and you can update them one at a time. Not sure about installing new apps that otherwise would be "incompatible" this way, however.
Thanks to everyone that figured this stuff out, the two posts above are only examples which seem to work, there are other folks who started the ball rolling towards a solution.
New market updates multiple apps for me.
Only problem is that sometimes even if some app is already updated, it still shows it at updating list.
i constantly have to clear data for the new market to work properly. Have you tried that? I know after I clear data I get a notification that updates are available.

By that do you mean clear the notification list? I wouldn't want anyone to read that and go ahead and wipe their data.
Applications>manage apps> market> clear cache; clear data.

Oh, sure, it's updating some apps.. Just some are showing up without the ability to update.
Like I know at least a few apps have updated and they don't show up as needing updates. Or look at Appbrain, you can always see app updates there regardless of the market.
Seems like it's just filtering more apps than it used to. I'm about to remove the new market, it sucks anyway.
Silly question, but how do you guy get the new Market?

Installed automatically on my NC.. Lucky me. There are also apk's floating around.
I'm having a similar problem since updating to nightly 142. Certain icons are no longer visible in Launcher, Advanced Uninstaller, or Titanium Backup. When I visit the Market I'm not given the download box in the header or an update option. Almost as if the app is incompatible with the device. I tried the Applications>manage apps> market> clear cache; clear data procedure with no different result. I did get the message when returning to Market, so I guess I cleared something. The effected apps ( that I'm concerned about ) are Facebook and, of course, Angry Birds. Couple others as well. Thanks for any suggestions

You aren't the first one saying "it automatically updated" but surprisingly, mine doesn't. Don't know why.
Yes, I can see some Vendor (Vending?).apk floating around the net but no clue which version they are.

Didn't help the issue at hand here for me either, unfortunately..
Sorry you're having the same issues. I also posted to the cyanogen forums and am still waiting for another reply to the post. That's where the Titanium Backup suggestion came from. Here's hoping for another suggestion here.
It doesn't seem like the market notifies you if an app needs a manual update due to changing permissions anymore. Also I get a Appstore and market both saying I need to update Amazon mp3 and after I update one the other app store will still say it's not updated so you have to update again in order to clear the two out

I am having the same issue as the OP. Agenda Widget Plus and Facebook disappeared from my "MyApps" list but can be found by searching. I have the new market and going into settings to clear data and cache for market did not help. Had been working without issue previously. I am running n146.

I disabled MarketUpdater.apk last night and uninstalled Market updates and I STILL am having problems with SOME apps.
Oddly, I can see Waze again, but I still cannot 'see' the Plus version of Android Agenda Widget and a few others. I CAN see the free version of Android Agenda Widget, go figure. For some reason I can usually see apps in AppBrain that need updating, but those apps have also disappeared from AppBrain, so I'm not sure what I'm missing currently.
Damn you Google, what are you doing?
Same situation for me. Went to a backup of an earlier nightly that still had the old market and even there Agenda Widget Plus was missing. Also checked the android market web site and it shows Agenda Widget as incompatible with NC. How does the market determine whether an app is compatible with a device? I contacted the Agenda Widget developer and he said he had not changed anything.

I'd kinda like to know that as well. When I originally downloaded the crappy Facebook app I had no problem. But when I go to the market on the website now it says it is not compatible even though it works fine. I suspect now that the market is "device aware" any of my installed apps that get updates will not show if the app is no longer considered compatible so I will be stuck with the older version.

My guess is that Facebook can use the GPS, or Microphone, Camera... some hardware we don't have.
This is new behavior, at least changed behavior, and it's very annoying.
I've read that "device aware" suggestion in a few places, and decided to try the build.prop edit that I've read about elsewhere. Changed the device name to Samsung S and manufacturer to samsung. It didn't make a difference. I also can't understand why Angry Birds and Checkers could be device specific. The Market definitely knows I've got Nook because it is grayed out in the drop down box. I hope brighter minds than mine can come up with a work around.
Hi there,
I just re-installed my favorite Rom and I remember that it asked me in the beginning which programs I want to install. It was specific to the ROM and had maybe 20 different major apps like GMail, Google Maps or Facebook on it. Some apps returned with an error message, that they couldnt be downloaded.
So after looking up GMaps or Facebook on the market, they show up but the Install Button does not so there is no way for me get it off the market. I checked my phone but no GMaps to be found, I tried installing it from other sources but can't seem to find it anywhere. Is my last resort to manually go through the .apk? Or has anyone had this problem before and knows what to do?
thanks
Make a backup of "MarketUpdater.apk" located in "/system/app/" using any root explorer app (or use adb). After making the backup, delete the application. Then go to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > Market > "Uninstall updates" .. when you get the old market back you can install any app you want.
That's a known issue in the new market.
Hm how do I completely delete the android market from my phone? I managed to download the android market apk, uninstalled the updates but still same issue. I think I need to completely uninstall the app, just not sure how to do that

I had a similar issue with some apps in the new android market. I finally read in a post here on XDA that the market does not work with certain LCD densities. I had mine set to 200 and had to change it to 240 and that solved my inability to download google maps and other apps. So give that a shot and let me know what happens.

:/ sorry. but that's why the new market is not included in the newest version of hyperdroid cm7.
I solved the same problem with "Market enabler"
https://market.android.com/details?id=ch.racic.android.marketenabler&feature=more_from_developer
chose T-mobile
I have the same problem with the old market, manually updating to the new one makes no difference. Funnily, using typhoon I can set my density to any I like. Market enabler made no difference. What's really weird is that it only seems to affect some phones. I have a sneaking suspicion it's a tmous issue.
