There will be no official wm6.5 update! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
I emailed HTC recently asking them about a wm6.5 update, since I was told over the phone by HTC that a 6.5 update will be released for the diamond as the "Software Dept." is working on it.
I also asked if they went going to update it, was there a chance of a android firmware
So I got a email back yesterday ( 17 Jan 2010)
Thank you for contacting HTC Customer Service Support,Matthew.
We hope you are well. We greatly appreciate your time in sending us this email.
HTC provides software upgrade for the following models: Touch Pro2, Touch Diamond2 and Snap. These models are entitled for WM6.5 by Microsoft’s upgrade package as the models were launched just before WM6.5 was released. We regret to inform that this upgrade package is not available for models prior to the abovementioned 3 models.
However, what we can do is to forward your request to the appropriate dept. For now though, there are no plans yet. We shall take down your email address, ----------, and keep it on our active file. Once we have news in the future regarding its availability, we shall notify with you via phone or email.”

WM 5.0 from HTC

Has anyone contacted HTC to see if they are going to customize WM 5.0 for the actual vendors?
From my conversations with both our AT&T corporate rep and Siemens, it sounds to me like AT&T gets their updates from Siemens and that Siemens gets their updates from HTC directly.
Because of this, it makes sense to me that someone with some type of contact within HTC could find out if HTC plans to manufacture the device in the future with WM 5.0 and if so, if they are going to make an upgrade kit available to current owners of their devices.
I am just wondering.
Here's a name and a number, give it a try!

Cruzzer - THANKS!!!
I have a call into him now! I have also discussed this more indepth with both Siemens support and Cingular R&D.
Both see to think that there is already an HTC version in production, however, neither Cingular or Siemens will give me any more information than that.
I will let you know as soon as I find out anything else.

Original HTC WM6 upgrade

Hi community!
Maybe the information below is already posted and I was to silly to find it in the forum, anyway:
Today (28. September) I asked HTC if there will be a Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for the P3600 as I'm planning to get on and I always like to have an original backup ROM.
There simple statement in a longer e-mail (I'm not posting it here as there a confidential statement there...):
Trinity won't be updated...
Of course this doesn't exclude updates "endprovided" by network operators (see the trinity wiki) but I don't like this future view...
So ROM chiefs: go on cooking the best WM6 ROM!!! - Thanks for your effort!
Yes, that's the way HTC treats its customer.
We all may remember this, when the time will come to buy our next phone.
Actually your topic has already been reported, with the complete copy of HTC's mail, and some analysis of the reason why they carry out such a poor policy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318225&page=43
I will add one more reason:
Now that they have launched their new P3600i, they don't want people to stick to their 'old' p3600 any longer... and granting them with a brand new free wm6 upgrade, wouldn't have dissuaded them enough from doing so.

"New driver end of March"
A response from Peter Chou himself (CEO of HTC) has surfaced saying they hope to release a driver at the end of March. Examination of the e-mail and its SMTP headers verifies with very high certainty that this e-mail indeed originated at HTC Taiwan. Ofcourse we have also written our own e-mail to Peter Chou to ask for confirmation.

Need app from german T-Mobile Rom

Hi there,
quick one to introduce myself. I'm with the xda-zone.de since jan 04 and really do enjoy the community there. I started using pocket PCs with the Himalaya, Alpine, Universal and since yesterday, the HTC Diamond when its release has been with T-Mobile Germany.
First action was to flash Bepe's 0.54 Rom on it to make it faster and stable. Big Thx to the cook!
I additionally ordered the email flat rate option to my contract which lets me send and receive also attachements. This service requires the t-mobila application "t-mobile email pro" which was deleted through the flash..
May somebody could be so kind and send it, if avaiable? That would be nice. I appreciate your help on this...
Regards,
prince

i did ask but she didnt know exactly when.. she said in the coming month or 2
Unfortunately I was told the same thing ("about a month or two") about 6 months ago.
HTC support is very disorganized, and even to get that out of them I had to go through about 5 different people, who all spoke very broken English.
I will not be buying another HTC product; ever.

frankly .ur reply made me sick.
do u mean u a going to buy another brand who hires good english speaking workers?
after all htc is the brand from taiwan. they speak chinese.
Depending on which departments he was at broken english might not be a good thing. Their offices in Taiwan yes broken english is understandable. But their main customer support line should have a few people if not everyone who can speak english decently. Europe and the North American region have a fair ammount of people purchasing their devices who speak english in one of its flavors.
I think that the language issue hit more upon that user due to the lack of informative people he kept getting transferred to time after time.
(At least I hope that's all it is )
any updates for now?
I'm looking for original S730 ROM.
I have WM6.1 by Alcaline but
-I can't synchronize ActiveSync (corp policy WM only)
-Internet shring don't work
-often freeze
I want rollback to original ROM but can't find it.

ur = you are? or did you mean you're? your perhaps?
If I spend a large sum of money on a cell phone, with a warranty, I expect the company to honour it. Being given the run around by people reading off screens with no follow-up is bad customer service. Them not being able to speak passable English is also annoying. Nothing sick or inappropriate about that one champ. If another brand offers me better support, and cares after the customers after the purchase, I will (and did) go that route.
Also, in Taiwan they speak both Chinese and Taiwanese. I visited almost a year ago with some of my co-workers. Just an FYI, bud.

Funny. I was given the exact same reply yesterday.
Only thing that bothers me is that the upgrade for the TyTNII has been released some time ago (correct me if I'm wrong) and the upgrade for the Touch Cruise has also been released several weeks ago. They don't mention the upgrade for the Touch Dual which has also recently seen daylight. So I hope they know what they are talking about. Anyway it gives some hope though.
I doubt it'll be any better than Alcaline's excellent version.
The cooked are crap only the SMS chat owns
Official new ROM out
So, the update file is finally posted on the HTC web site.
I installed, and it seems to run fine, but too early to give a final opinion. Memory management 'feels' better.
BTW: Where in the version numbers does one see it's really 6.1? And is there a list out there of improvements over 6.0?
Hi Hfrank,
version number: start -> settings -> about -> in top of screen.
Is there an sms-chat in the update?
"About" only shows: Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.1622 (Build 18128.0.4.4) - so not easy for someone like me to see the exact version (if I didn't know better I'd think OS 5.2 means WM 5.2, not 6.0 or 6.1 .
"Is there an sms-chat in the update?"
Haven't found one yet.
The more I think about it, it seems this is a bugfix update, but not update to 6.1...?
Hi
There isn't coming any 6.1 update for this phone. On the swedish site www.mobil.se there was a couple of weeks ago a chat with Christer Högström from HTC.
I asked him when the 6.1 update was to be released and the answer in swedish was:
"Det var planerat att uppgrader S730 till Wm6.1 men med den minnes kapasitet som finns på produkten blev det lite svårt att ge kunden en bra upplevelse. Där emot kommer vi med en Standard uppdatering till S730 om ca 2 veckor som förbättrar radio stabiliteten."
Quick translation: It was planed to upgrade s730 to WM 6.1 but with the memory capacity on the product it became hard to give the user a decent user experience. But we will come with a standard update that will improve radio stability.
Heres is the chat: http://www.mobil.se/ArticlePages/200810/28/20081028094638_MOB813/20081028094638_MOB813.dbp.asp
Sorry guys!
